Episode description

John and Magnus' deep dive into the Once Upon A Time series continue. Before diving into Season 4A - Frozen and Season 4B - The Queens of Evil (Rock on!), they discuss how medium and intimacy influences a brand (consider a comic series like Fables versus a tv scaled series like Once) and how influence and point of view create a very different story out of a similar sounding premise (again, Fables v. Once).

Then dive into the icy frozen lake of the hurried first half of season 4 with influences from the then uber popular Frozen and the much more well structured and intriguing (though not as fully satisfying as season 1) Queens of Evil back half. There are plenty of missed opportunities in season four but Maleficent and Lily aren't one of them.

Once also continues the grand tradition of fantasy casting from the well known fantasy actor pool for the dark author Isaac (who may have been influenced by Kingdom Hearts) and then Magnus and John venture into Camelot and discuss how season five fell apart.

They also discuss Belle and how her agency is both there and interrupted, Zelena and if she's actually as powerful as others say, and how some parts of the Hades season worked (Hercules! The choice in the Mayor's office!) and how some parts of seasons 4 and 5 didn't at all (why is Chernabog even here honestly?)

Seasons 4 and 5 of Once Upon A Time. Sometimes they're great, most of the time- they're alot. It's a wild tramp through another part of the Enchanted Forest but we're almost through together. Soon enough we'll be out of the woods! Wait. They did that show already, didn't they?
