Living the Dream, Daddy
Episode description
What do gay visual novel video games offer us that non queer games don't? What makes them so special that when they spark the imagination, we fall in deep love with them so quickly? How do they compare to each other? What does Dream Daddy offer that we long for in Coming Out On Top or Robin Morningwood or Morningdew Farms and etc?
Are Dead Dating and the new wave of genre twisting kink games like Mister Versatile from ypressgames in response to missing queer experiences or just the direction that the genre demands we go? And how do the works of Robert Yang's Tearoom fit into a much longer conversation about fantasy, power, and kink within the media we consume?
John and Magnus take a long trip (without gaining any inheritance or magical castles, darn it!) through a new and growing recent history of the gay visual novel. This is more explicitly queer and more explicit an episode than has been done before. And it's wonderfully thrilling altogether.
Please note that after this episode came out, John learned that Coming Out on Top actually came out before Dream Daddy and he definitely though it was the other way around.
