Episode description

In this episode, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Michelle Iversen discusses the therapy technique of Hypnotherapy along with special guest Jamie Houk, LPCC. Jamie is a therapist at Nystrom's Lakeville clinic and has 14 years of experience working in the field. Jamie is certified in multiple areas of expertise, including hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to help clients achieve an altered state of consciousness, access their unconscious state of mind, and help them achieve specific goals in therapy.

Listen as Jamie and Michelle talk about the similarities and differences between stage hypnosis, guided meditation, and hypnotherapy and what conditions hypnosis can be used to treat in a therapeutic setting. You'll learn whether or not hypnotherapy is considered "mind control," what it would feel like to be hypnotized, and how to know whether hypnotherapy is right for you.
