Almost 400 hundred people had to be evacuated from their homes as torrential rain lashed the east coast particularly hitting the British favourites of Benidorm and Torrevieja hard. Late on Sunday night the AEMET state Met Office weather alerts for Benidorm on the Costa Blanca were suddenly upgraded to the highest severe threat ‘red’ level.
