States hit hard by the coronavirus now brace for a hurricane. Hurricane Laura is expected to hit the United States, the Gulf Coast, as a category 3 storm as hundreds of thousands in Texas are ordered to evacuate. 

FDA chief apologizes for overselling plasma's effectiveness as a coronavirus treatment. The United States coronavirus death toll has now surpassed 178,000. 

The House announces a probe of Pompeo's RNC speech. The House opens an investigation into Pompeo's convention speech. Rep. Castro says it is "likely unprecedented" and "may also be illegal." Secretary of State Pompeo to address RNC in support of Trump goes against precedent. Trump is set to appear "multiple times" at RNC tonight after grim warnings on first night about the Democrats despite Trump's vow to be "uplifting." Ratings for night one of RNC are down nearly 30 percent vs. the night one of 2016 RNC. Also, there are fewer viewers than night one of this year's DNC.
