Hello and welcome to Wednesday’s Words with English with Languissimo® which will help you improve your vocabulary so that you can communicate better in English.

My name is Vanessa Rocket. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo®.

Today, I will quickly cover the difference between “to take an exam” and “to pass an exam”.

-          “To take an exam” is the action of having your ability or knowledge tested formally, usually in writing but it can also be done orally. You can take an exam in a room with other people, or you can also take it individually. It depends on the exam. When you take a written exam, you can also say that you “write an exam”.

-          “To pass an exam” is the positive result of taking or writing your exam. When you take an exam, you can either fail it or pass it. If you fail it, you need to take it or write it again. If you pass it, you can move on with your studies/life or career because you have done well and achieved success.

Some Practice Questions

-          Have you taken a test recently?

-          Have you already failed a test? Which one?

-          Which exam(s) have you passed?

Ta da! That’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this podcast. Subscribe to English with Languissimo®, practice, take care and have a great Wednesday! Big hugs 😊
