Listen to Stories about a Nomination, Lupus and the Olympic Torch :)

Transcript

Hello and welcome to English with Languissimo®, the podcast in English where I share stories of my week and that of the world with you.

My name is Vanessa Rocket. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo® and today I’m going to try something different.

No more French!

Let’s go!

The Voice of Nomination

14 days ago, I received an incredible email.

The email informed me that I had been nominated for the Businesswoman of the Year Awards.

Isn’t it amazing?

Anyway, it is, and I didn’t expect it all!

I had many categories to choose from and I chose the one that fits my situation: emerging entrepreneur - less than 10 years.

I had not realized that Languissimo® is celebrating 9 years this year!

Unbelievable!

Time flies.

I filled out and submitted the online application last Tuesday.

I keep my fingers crossed that I will be among the 3 finalists.

I will keep you posted.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

The Voice of Lupus

Today is World Lupus Day which serves to bring awareness to the impact that lupus has on people around the world.

It was proclaimed in England in 2004 by an international committee of 13 (thirteen) countries whose goal was to raise funds to treat this rare disabling disease.

Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that attacks the body cells and destroys them.

Lupus can damage any part of the body such as the heart, joints, skin, kidneys, etc.

Since lupus can lead to a wide variety of symptoms, it is commonly known as “the disease with a thousand faces”.

To make lupus visible, wear purple today!

The Voice of the Torch

The Olympic Torch was lit on April 26th in Greece in a sanctuary in Olympia.

It’s a symbol of peace and unity between nations.

It arrived on May 8th at the famous city of Marseille’s Old Port on board the 19th century sailing ship called “the Belem”, a national French treasure.

Marseille, the second largest city in France, was founded more than 2600 (two thousand and six hundred) years ago by sailors coming from Phocaea in Greece.

Jul, a famous French rapper from Marseille, lit the first Paris 2024 cauldron of the Olympic Games which will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11. From August 28 to September 8 will take place the Paralympics.

Many people from Marseille came to watch the historical event.

The torch is now going to begin its journey across France to end on July 26 during the opening ceremony on the river Seine.
