Hello and welcome to English with Languissimo®, the podcast in English which will help you reach your goals so that you can lead a better life and career.
My name is Vanessa. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo®.
Today I will share the highlights of my week with you.
The voice of artificial intelligence (la voix de l’intelligence artificielle)
Since I enrolled in the personal development course, I’ve been having access to AI. I have to admit that it is rather incredible. However, I realize the danger that AI represents for our future. Elon Musk and Mo Gawdat (former officer at Google X) warn against the non-regulation of AI and the irreversible damages that it can cause in the shorter term. Let’s hope that our governments will act before it is too late…
The voice of writing (la voix de l’écriture)
I had started writing a book during Covid then my life was turned upside down and I stopped. I resumed writing last week and I have just completed the first chapter. Just 4 to write!
Some study points
- “I have been having access” is translated in French with the present “j’ai accès à…”.
- “In the shorter term” is translated in French with “à plus ou moins court terme”.
- “To resume + ING” is translated in French with the structure “reprendre + NOM” or “recommencer à + INF”.
- « I have just + PAST PARTCIPLE » is translated in French with a completely different structure: “Je viens de/d’ + INF”.
- “Just 4 to write » is translated in French with “plus que 4 à écrire ». I could have written “4 more to write” (“encore 4 à écrire”) but it would have had a less positive effect on my morale.
Some practice questions
- Do you use AI?
- Do you think AI is a threat to our future?
- Would you like to write to a book?
- If you were to write a book, what would it be about?
Ta da! That’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this podcast. Subscribe to English with Languissimo®, practice, take care and talk to you soon! Big hugs 😊
