Hello and welcome to English with Languissimo®, the podcast in English where I share stories of the highlights of my week to inspire you to live a full life.
My name is Vanessa. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo®.
Let’s go!
The Voice of Perseverance (la voix de la persévérance)
Wow! Not easy to be an entrepreneur! First, my computer broke down and I had to get another one. Next, I had problems with the podcast software. Then my podcast hosting account was blocked, and I had to unblock it! Let me tell you this: you really have to persevere if you want to get things done! Finally, everything is working well so I’m happy to be with you again.
The Voice of Being Social (la voix du social)
After three extremely busy weeks where I didn’t have time for myself, I finally was able to relax last week and go out. On Tuesday, I had a business lunch. On Wednesday, I had lunch with a former student. On Thursday, I had lunch with a friend and on Friday I went to a business networking breakfast as it was the week of small and medium enterprises. It feels so good to take time to share good moments with other people!
The Voice of Celebration (la voix de la célébration)
On October 5th, I did my first webinar, and it went very well. I’m looking forward to hosting the second one on November 1st because it’s important to help students pass the government’s oral C test. I forgot to mention but this October, we’re celebrating the 16th anniversary of Islamic History Canada which aims to celebrate, inform, educate, and share with fellow Canadians the rich Muslim heritage and contributions to society.
Long live cultural diversity!
Some Study Points
- “First”, “next”, “then” and “finally”, mean “(tout) d’abord”, “ensuite”, “puis” and “finalement/enfin”. They are very useful words to help you organize your ideas.
- “Former” means “ancien”. “Former” is often used in combination with “latter” in the phrase “the former …. the latter”.
- “Networking” means “réseautage”. It comes from the word “network” (reseau). The verb is “to network” (faire du réseautage).
- We often refer to SMEs when we talk about small and medium enterprises.
- “To look forward to doing something” means “avoir hâte de faire quelque chose”.
Some Practice Questions
- Have you had problems lately? If yes, which ones?
- Did you go out with your friends recently?
- Do you participate in networking events?
- Do you have an SME?
- Are you celebrating anything special this month?
Ta da! That’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this podcast. Subscribe to English with Languissimo®, practice, take care and have a great weekend! Big hugs 😊
