Hello and welcome to Miscellaneous Mondays where I talk about anything English from last Friday’s podcast.

-          People have been talking about Joe Biden lately. True

-          “To cast doubt on something” is synonym of “to make something seem certain”. False – To make something seem uncertain.

-          “To be in one’s right mind” means “to be in an unhealthy state of mind”. False – To be in a healthy state of mind.

-          Trump and Biden are young men. False – Both are old: 78 & 81

-          “Blood” has the same pronunciation as “foot”. False – Blood = mud and foot = book

-          “In their forties” refers to someone who is about 30 years old. False – about 40 years old.

-          “The smartest” is the comparative form of “smart”. False – the superlative

-          “If” + simple past + simple future. False – the second conditional

-          “Would boycott” and “would motivate” are conjugated in the simple future. False - Conditional

-          “Rebel” is both a “noun” and a “verb”. True but their pronunciation is different: to [reebel] # a [rebol]

-          “Let’s” is the contraction of “let is”. False – Let us

-          “An iron fist” is a fist that is made from iron. False – someone who is firm

-          “Wouldn’t hurt” in that context means “wouldn’t be a good thing”. False = would be a good thing

-          “To allude” is a synonym of “to suggest”. True

-          “We’ll” is the contraction of “we will”. True

-          “To make a fool of oneself” is a synonym of “to fool oneself”. False – to embarrass oneself

-          “His” is a possessive pronoun. False – possessive adjective

-          “Will he come out”, “will he resign”, “will he tell” are verbs conjugated in the conditional. False – Simple Future

-          “How” + an adverb. False – How + an adjective
