Hello and welcome to Wednesday’s Words with English with Languissimo® which will help you improve your vocabulary so that you can communicate better in English.
My name is Vanessa. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo®.
Today, I will cover the difference between “formula” and “form”.
- “Formula” means “formule”. It is used in some common expressions: “chemical formula” (formule chimique), “math formula” (formule mathématique), “magic formula” (formule magique), “baby formula” (lait pour bébés) and “politeness formulas” (formules de politesse).
“Formula 1” or “F1” (la F1) is a world-famous car race competition.
- “Form” means “formulaire”. It is a document that you fill out (online most of the time) to request services or to register for an activity. To create an online account, you usually have to fill out a form with your personal information such as your first and last name, address, etc.
Some Practice Questions
- When was the last time you filled out a form?
- Do you know some politeness formulas?
Ta da! That’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this podcast. Subscribe to English with Languissimo®, practice, take care and have a great Wednesday! Big hugs 😊
