Hello and welcome to English with Languissimo®.
My name is Vanessa. I’m the founder and CEO of Languissimo®.
Today I will share the highlights of my week with you.
The voice of action (la voix de l’action)
This week, I registered for the free 5-day virtual challenge of Dean Graziosi and Tony Robbins « Own Your Future ».
There was no way I was going to miss out on such an opportunity.
An incredible thing happened on the first day: my creativity skyrocketed! I started writing one of the books I’ve been wanting to write for a long time!
The voice of life (la voix de la vie)
Life is a battle. And I thought that my last 2 years had been difficult…. It is nothing compared to what one of my dear friends is facing right now. She recently was diagnosed with a brain tumor that is aggressive and inoperable. She started chemo and radiotherapy sessions this week, and despite all that she’s going through, she’s showing phenomenal strength and courage. Life has a way of crushing you down in an instant, and it’s unfair but there is no other choice but fight. So, my dear Magali, fight ! We’ll all behind you !
The voice of gratitude (la voix de la gratitude)
I thank God every day for being in good health and being surrounded by people I love and that love me. It is not the case for everyone so thank you for my life!
Some study points
- “To register” (s’inscrire à) is followed by either the preposition “for” (+ a noun) or “to” (+ a verb).
- “To start” (commencer à) can be followed by a verb + “ing” or by “to” + a verb (I started writing = I started to write).
- With “for a long time”, the present perfect continuous (“has” or “have” + “been” + verb + “ing”) is often used: I’ve been doing this for a long time. It is translated in French by the present tense: je fais ça depuis longtemps.
- “Had been” is the past perfect of “to be” and is translated in French in that context by “avaient été”.
- “There is no other choice but….” is translated in French by “il n’y pas d’autre choix que de / d’…”.
- The adjective that comes from “gratitude” is “grateful”.
