¶ Adjusting to English in Canada
Hi there, my name is Chukdeep Singh. I am pursuing a journal Art and Science. I come from Rajasthan, India and I am starting learning English when I was in first standard. so after completing my schooling I came to Canada for further study and it was totally different and new experience when I communicate with foreigners it a little bit difficult when I speak with Canadian because I have different accent so I face some difficulties when I arrived there in last
last summer so here I would like to interview interview for the English language practice sport how how the international student can improve their English skills so my first question to you like what is your experience when you first My first time experience was very good as when I arrived there was an orientation from which I learned about many things.
But I was having some problems in understanding English as the Canadian accents are different from my language. So that's why it was hard for me to understand what they are saying. And it's a new thing for every international student.
yeah so like what are the main difficulties do you face to understand the language okay there are a lot of difficulties that i faced during interacting with foreigners as mostly I was having difficulty in understanding English due to different accidents as I was not aware about them As when some Canadian talks with me, I was always nervous because it was like a new language for me.
¶ Effective Ways to Improve English Skills
um what you suggest like how international student can improve their english language sure there are a lot of ways through which an international student can improve their english like
they should attend their every lecture and should mostly remain on campus which will improve their listening and understanding skills. The second way to improve their fluency in English is that they should make new Canadian friends to learn about the environment as Canadians are aware about the city and it will help them learn English more quickly. So what do you think about the communication course which are provided by SLC? Is there really help to improve English and how it's helped? Okay.
What I think is through thought communication course one can develop grammar skills and understanding and listening skills can be improved. as the professors really help the students to improve their English. The in-class activities SLC should provide to international students for improving their English.
The teachers should organize different types of activities in the class so that international students can improve their language. They should try to interact with students from different parts of the world which help which will help the students to improve their accents and they can be good friends also to interact with every friend which increases in fluency in English.
