Episode description

An AFL Commissioner who spent more than 35 years serving in the Australian Army. How do you pivot from a hostile, combat environment into a corporate, sports focused ecosystem? What are the tangible skills that translate from one situation to the other?

Major General Simone Wilkie retired as a Major General after completing 35 years’ service. She served senior appointments in operations and training, and active service in Cambodia, Iraq and Afghanistan. She was awarded a Bronze Star for her work in Iraq.

Now an AFL Commissioner, Simone sits down with Luke Darcy to talk the challenges of her career, where she sees the AFL moving forward and what she's excited for ahead of the AFLW season and 2023.
