Based on Acts 10, the sermon focuses on the story of Peter & Cornelius and reminds us not to call anything impure that God has made clean. Are there people in our lives that we consider unworthy of God's love and forgiveness? God shows no favoritism and His love and salvation is for all.
Based on the response of the first century church to persecution in their times, this message reminds us in our current culture to have the boldness to communicate the truth of the gospel and to say it beautifully, not belligerently.
In the midst of persecution, the first century church chose to pray and seek God's help in continuing to fulfill His purpose here on earth- to share the good news of Jesus. We are encouraged to pray for boldness to witness and to share the truth in this generation too.
The story of Paul's experience on the Damascus road, and his transformation thereafter clearly show the impact of Christ's Resurrection on individual lives in the first century. His resurrection continues to transform lives as we trust and obey. By trusting and obeying we will experience this Big transformation in our own lives and in our churches even today, but are we ready to take risks - to trust Christ and obey Him?
As humans with free will we have the choice to choose between life or death, following Jesus or others, and heeding the message of the Gospel or ignoring it. Jesus has promised us a rich and satisfying life- a life of forgiveness, reconciliation and hope. What would you choose?
As Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowd greeted him as "Messiah" and shouted 'Hosanna". Many among the crowd soon became disappointed when they realized that he was not the political Messiah who would free them. Do we become disappointed with Him, when He does not meet our expectations?
