First guest: Dr Roger Close, ERC Research Fellow, University of Birmingham and Visiting Fellow at Oxford University tells us all about his work using large databases of fossil occurrences and methods to correct for biases inherent in the fossil and rock records. This work has been overturning long-standing ideas about how modern biodiversity arose over deep time.

Second guest: Professor Richard de Grijs, Macquarie University (astronomer), discusses his work mapping the Milky Ways disc of stars and how they become increasingly warped and twisted the further away the stars are from the galaxys centre.
