¶ Intro / Opening
What's up guys, Trevor here with eCommerce Paradise. Today I'm going to talk about some niche selection tips for 2025.
¶ Niche Selection Tips for 2025
If it's your first time watching one of my videos, definitely get my free niches list and mini course at eCommerceParadise.com slash free mini course. All right, so let's get into it. So for 2025, what we want to really do is focus on emerging trends.
So anything that's really like taking off. And the thing I can recommend to you is just to take note of any time that you're watching TV or a YouTube video, So reading a blog post, social media, or when you're driving around and you see stuff around you. These are the kind of things that are going to stand out as trends. Now, of course, AI is a big trend. Obviously, it's been going on for a couple of years now. So definitely utilize AI to help you find trends as well.
You can just go to ChatGPT and ask it to tell you what are emerging trends right now. And I would just recommend focusing on that because when I've had the most success with my e-commerce businesses, it's always been on emerging trends, niches that have been taking off. Okay, so definitely consider looking at trends. And another good tool for that is Google Trends.
You can go to google.com slash trends and type in any particular keyword or product category there and it'll give you some really good information.
¶ Researching Demand Shifts
Next, researching demand shifts, especially in any particular industries and particularly in those emerging trends markets. So for researching demand, what I usually do is I use a tool called KW Finder.
You can use my referral link to go check it out and get a free trial at ecommerceparadise.com slash kwfinder provides really good keyword research tools it'll give you demand over a certain period of time it'll give you competition it'll give you the estimated cpc cost per click for ads that are running and the estimated organic competitiveness in that particular keyword so it's really good idea to see how much search volume
is going on any particular keyword per month and that's usually just related to product categories so check that out kwfinder is a great tool, all right and then consider the profitability of any particular niche i think it's really important because you know it's very difficult to run a business without high profit margins okay if you're choosing a business where the margins are average like 15 20 it's going to be difficult because you're going to have to get a row as
of like 20 to 30 x in order to make it profitable whereas if your margins are like upwards of 20 30 40 percent gross margins per sale that's after shipping costs after merchant fees and all that after any kind of drop ship fees your supplier charges you, then the ROAS doesn't need to be so high. Your conversion rate can be a little bit lower and you'll still have a very profitable business. So keep that in mind.
Now, the problem is, is you're not really going to know the profitability until you get into a niche with the suppliers, but you can kind of see clues on competitors' websites. So when you look at competitors' websites, you can check out their coupon codes.
And if you see that they're offering really big coupon codes in certain product categories or certain brands or certain products, then it gives you an idea that those products are probably really high margins, so they can afford to run those codes. A lot of sites run a 5% off code or $100 or something like that. It's pretty average, pretty typical for your 20%-ish profit margin.
But if you see a site running a 10%, 15%, or even 20% coupon code on a particular product, I've seen as high as 15% recently. That usually means that the profit margins are 30% to 40% on that particular product or higher. So keep that in mind. It's a really good idea to do deep competitor research to find out which particular products are higher profit margins.
Now, of course, the good thing is they're higher profit margins, but the bad thing is that there are those competitors selling it with those deep discount codes. You will have to match those, and thus the margins will be generally less. But not everybody uses these coupon codes. So definitely just consider that it's going to be profitable still. You might have orders without them.
And if you can also do more value adds like free guides, free gifts, add-ons, white glove delivery, extended warranties, things like that, you'll make yourself stand out from your competition more.
¶ Solving Consumer Pain Points
Next one is to make sure that you're solving real problems and that you know your target market's consumer's pain points and really what they're trying to solve, the problems they're trying to solve, so you can speak to them correctly. You're going to be doing this on the product page, and you're going to be doing this in your ads, you're going to be doing this in your email marketing, and your organic content.
And so if you know your target consumer and what exactly their pain points are and what they're doing and speaking to them the right way, then you're definitely going to vibe with them a lot more and they're more likely to come to you to purchase the product.
¶ Avoiding Common Pitfalls
All right, and then avoid some common pitfalls. Explain why over the competitive or brand dependent niches like branded tech should be avoided. And so yeah, the thing is, is if you're selling in a product category, there's like really top name brands that people are relying on, then people are going to be really loyal to those brands and it's going to be harder to get them to switch to a generic brand.
You'll find this a lot in tech so definitely understand that you know jumping into something like let's say smart home devices is going to be quite difficult from a high ticket dropshipping standpoint now if you wanted to do a private label product and do your own brand that's a whole different story you're still going to be fighting against that but at least you'll have a like a brand but if you're going to sell other people's brands and just rely on them for their you know branding
then you definitely want to pick a niche where you have a lot of brands that are People are okay with going with other brands, you know, the brands that you're selling as opposed to the top name brands they might find at brick and mortar stores or big, big like retailers like big box stores. Yeah, so that's pretty much it, guys. So just consider that it's really important to choose a really profitable niche, one that's trendy, one that has lots of keyword search volume and demand.
And just make sure that you go and understand the niche. I think it's really a good idea to also consider things that are coming up in the future for the next year. For instance, some of the big changes coming up is that the Trump administration is potentially going to put a bunch of big tariffs on goods that are coming into the US. And so a lot of these suppliers are going to have to raise their prices. And of course, the retailers will have to raise the prices and it might make
a temporary drop in sales for consumers. Sorry, for retailers. Consumers will not be able to buy. And also, there is a bit of a high interest rate still, so it's difficult for consumers to get affordable financing. And at this time, consumers still have quite a bit lower amounts of money in savings as opposed to when they did during the pandemic.
So you're going to definitely want to make sure you research your target market, make sure those people have money to spend, and that the average price point of the product you're selling is going to be something they can afford. And it's not going to be like the last bit of money they have. Because with high-ticket dropshipping, usually your average price point is somewhere between $1,000 and $3,000.
So if you're trying to sell a $3,000 product to somebody who barely has $3,000 in their checking account, it's not going to work. But if you're selling a $3,000 product to someone who makes $150,000 on a yearly basis, then that's probably going to work because those people have more credit cards and more credit available to purchase those products and more income to pay off those credit cards with.
¶ Importance of Niche Research
