Unveiling Personal Quirks

Hi, welcome back to Eat Your Crust Podcast. I'm Crystal. And I'm Jisoo. Today we thought we'd do a bit of a silly topic. It's something that maybe you don't even notice, but it happens to you every single day. So we wanted to talk a little bit about different habits that we have, mostly in day-to-day living and any of these habits that maybe we didn't realize we had or...

that we realized was different from other people. So to start us off, are there any habits that are maybe like a little funky or quirky that you didn't notice until someone else pointed it out? Okay, so I have one that I feel like... has been a hot topic recent years. And it's something that I never noticed. But recently, everyone's been telling me that my phone brightness is really high. Dude. Because sometimes I'll be out at a dinner, inevitably there will be something to look up.

Every time I look something up and show my friend the picture or the Google search or whatever, everyone's always like, oh my God, your phone is on full brightness.

and i'm like i didn't think it was that bright but every time i check it is at 100 so that's been like jarring i guess everyone else keeps their phone brightness really low well i keep mine on auto so it's supposed to like adjust based on the brightness of the room you're in but dude the amount of memes that we've sent each other of your bright ass screen

Dude, sometimes you or like other people will visibly cover their eyes. Oh God, it's so bright. And it is true. I don't keep my brightness on auto. So I don't want people to think that when I'm on my phone in bed at night.

I keep it at full brightness. I'll adjust it. Okay. But, you know, there are times where I forget to adjust it and it's at 100% and I just don't notice that it's super bright. Okay, I have a question though. Okay. What if you accidentally... didn't adjust your brightness and you're in bed and you're looking at your phone and it's hella bright does james ever say anything he does okay he's like okay you gotta tone it down i'm like sorry sorry

I remember one time, I think it was in an Uber, and you were in the front seat or something, and you're like, oh my god, someone just posted something on Instagram. Look at this cute picture or whatever. And you turned your phone, and I was like, holy fuck. I think after all of these instances, I have been trying to tone down my brightness a little bit. But it's just so funny every time it happens. I think the funny opposite thing of that is that...

Whenever I hand my phone to you, you're like, why is it so dark? True. And sometimes I think a lot of the times you'll have like a privacy screen protector on your phone. So you'll like lift up your phone and show me and I'm like. crystal i can't see anything dude yeah that kept happening a lot where people were like i just can't see anything on your phone and i was like okay fine i'll change back to normal screen protectors we're on opposite ends of the spectrum clearly

Yeah, I actually used to slash still do use a lot of privacy screen filters on my devices. And I think it's actually a habit I picked up from work because we're technically supposed to have privacy screen on our laptop. And then I in turn just ended up getting it for my phone. And then for my personal phone, I was like, oh, what if I just put one on? because what if I'm out in public and people are trying to peep at my phone I mean not that it's a big deal or anything

External Influence on Habits

But I feel like it's inevitable. My eyes are always drawn to other people's phones, so I feel like theirs would be drawn to mine if it was just out in the open. A hundred percent. I think it's like a natural instinct. I see a screen and my eyes just like go directly towards it. I guess privacy screen is also something you kind of have to get used to.

Maybe that's also a part of the habit. It's like your eyes adjusted to the fuzziness of the screen a little bit. Like sometimes I think even looking at it head on, it is like slightly fuzzy, right? Yeah, that's so true. And it's funny, too, because not everyone at work uses a privacy screen. So sometimes I'll turn my laptop to them. I'll be like, oh, this is like what I'm working on. And they're like, Crystal, I literally can't see anything. I'm like, oh, my bad.

let me just turn up the brightness it's a universal experience i guess yeah Also on the topic of phones, I do have another habit, but I don't think it's necessarily weird, but it's just like not very common. But I don't tend to use cases with my phones. And so I think it's really funny when people just point it out. They're like, oh my god, your phone is so naked. Or you're just raw-dogging your phone. Like, what the fuck?

dude i could never i always drop my phone but i do always notice when other people don't have cases and i'm like oh my god they're like crystal okay i will admit sometimes i do drop my phone but like It just survives. So I think everyone is just underestimating the power and strength of their phones. I don't know, man. I think you are actually good about not dropping your phone. Like I rarely see you drop it.

but when I'm at home sometimes I'll fling my phone and maybe it's also trained behavior because I know there's a case on it so I'm like oh it'll be fine and it'll just like clank on the ground James is like dude you can't just be throwing your phone around like that So I have one other habit that someone once pointed out was weird. Okay. I think since I was young, I had like a big addiction to lip balm and lip products.

So it was probably worse when I was young, but I would constantly be applying EOS Lip Ball or Nevaeh or whatever other product was my obsession at the time. And I remember... Once my mom was like, dude, you are applying lip balm way too much. So I was like, okay, okay, I should dial it back. But it's still kind of continued throughout adulthood, right? Yeah. Once...

A couple years ago, I was at a party at a friend's place. I pulled out my lip gloss and I started applying it on the couch. And my friend was across the room. He was like, what the fuck are you doing right now, Jesus? and he was just you know joking around but i was like oh my god i'm like traumatized so now i try not to do it too often in the living room or something oh my god wait i feel like nowadays though applying like lip balm is pretty normal yeah

Maybe it's because I was doing lip gloss, which is a little bit more like, you know, you get in the grooves and whatnot. But... It really just takes two people saying that that's weird and that's for you to notice like, oh, am I doing it too often or like weirdly? Dude, okay, maybe you were just ahead of the curve because I feel like nowadays everyone's always strapped with lip balm in their pocket.

And it's very common to like touch up your lip gloss when you're out and about, especially at meals, right? Yeah, yeah. And sometimes some of my lip glosses have SPF in it. So I'm like, hey, it's like... Skin care, you know, like sun protection. Yeah. Okay, for that one, I think it's not weird. I think you were just ahead of your time. I thought of another one, but it's not necessarily connected to yours.

My coworker pointed this out to me and he thinks it's like so entertaining. But basically, he was like, Crystal, I noticed that if someone interrupts you and you're in the middle of like a conversation. You'll patiently wait for that person to finish whatever their interruption was, and then you'll follow up and complete your thought. Do you have like a transition? Like, yeah, anyway. You know, something like that. I'll be like, oh yeah, I was like, as I was mentioning earlier or like whatever.

He was like, dude, it's so funny. Sometimes I'm tempted to interrupt you to watch it play out in action. that's hella funny dude sometimes it happens on our calls and as everyone knows when you do like a video call over zoom sometimes there's a bit of a lag yeah and

Temperature Preferences and Car Routines

i think a couple days ago the lag was kind of bad so we kept interrupting each other and every time i interrupted you you would stop nod very encouragingly and then like kind of respond to me and then also go back into what you were talking about I was like, whoa, I never noticed that. But I guess you're right. That's a good habit, honestly. Playing it off well, but also completing your initial thought. Hopefully. I think I just want to get my word in.

Well, are there any habits that you never notice until someone broke it? Okay, I have a funny one for this. Usually the weekends for me are like days where I get to sleep in and really just like rot. it's not super uncommon for me to wake up pretty late and just like laze around in bed or not really do much. And in these cases,

I'm not really expending that much energy, so I end up maybe eating my first meal really late in the day. I never thought much about it until my boyfriend put it out one time. Or he didn't even point it out, but it was more that he had to put a stop to this because he came into the room one time and I think it was maybe three or four and I was just rotting in bed and he was like...

Crystal, I ordered some food because I'm starving. Damn, three or four is kind of late, actually. Yeah. I was like, oh shit, my bad. I forgot people eat at regular hours. A lot of people need sustenance. Also, your boyfriend is very active. So I imagine he needs to be more regular and like eating on the top.

He also started storing Uncrustables at my place because he was like, okay, I know Crystal doesn't usually eat breakfast, so I'll be able to hold myself over with these in the morning. Oh my god. I do feel like habitual differences with your boyfriend or your partner do.

require a lot more coordination you know because if one of your friends says something about your habits it's like ha ha ha anyways like i'll see you next week but with your partner it's like you interact with them so often you kind of have to meet them at a certain level I was like, wow, okay, I guess I'll have to remember on weekends that I can't take it too far. So if you eat at like three or four on a Saturday, when do you eat dinner? Okay, here's the thing.

If it's like three or four and I'm kind of like, oh, well, I'm not really that hungry or like I didn't move that much today that I might just push it until five to seven and just eat dinner. Oh, I see. Yeah.

I think I've done that like a couple times, but it's definitely more of an exception for me. By like one, I'm like, I got to consume something. Yeah, I've actually tried to be better about eating meals in proper... time frames because then it can definitely lead to like too much eating really late and then eating a lot closer to bedtime and stuff which i feel like is allegedly not as healthy of a regimen

so then maybe it's a good thing that your boyfriend pointed this one out yeah I'm like damn my life is so much more regulated with you around derogatory

Evening and Shower Schedules

Yeah, I'm like, why are we out of bed before 12? And why are we eating meals? I will say there's also a habit that...

I picked up from my partner that I thought was positive as well, which is squeegeeing after a shower. Because I used to never do that. I hated doing it because... showering already is something that feels very much like a chore to me so then being in the shower for even 10 seconds longer than I need to I'm like like I don't want to do this I don't want to be here anymore yeah but now that we share a space

I'm like, okay, not squeegeeing also affects him. So I've been very, very regular about squeegeeing. And now if he doesn't squeegee, I'll be like, whoa, why did you not squeegee? That's wild. You're like, I'm doing my part. Are you? Dude, that's so funny. But I totally agree because I'm also like, oh, I should squeegee. But then like, I just finished my shower. Squeegeeing could make me dirty again.

True. And you're wet. So I think every second that you're not toweling off, it gets colder and colder too. We need like windshield wipers for shower doors. Yes, so true.

i've also been very tempted to put raynex coating on the glass shower doors they sell it for shower door purposes but it'll allegedly make all the water just drip down immediately which would be nice wait honestly i've done that before and it works really well but you have to reapply every so often and i just keep forgetting to reapply yeah maybe i should give that a try break my own habits again actually

There's a habit, and I guess anti-habit. So I've noticed that my boyfriend always uses AC in his car. It's never off. unless it's maybe actually really cold but his automatic is to just have ac on and i was like oh i guess i just like low-key never turn ac on in my car oh what if it's like super hot in your car If it's super hot, then I will turn it on. But it's usually like I don't turn it on unless it's really needed. Oh, I see. Yeah. Actually, one time I was driving someone. It was a hot day.

And I think I had rolled the windows down a little bit. And then my friend was like, Crystal, can we turn the AC on? It's just so fucking hot right now. And I was like, oh, my bad. Yeah, sure. You know what? This is an interesting one because I do think everyone has their own car routine. I'm probably more in your camp. Sometimes I'll turn the AC on, but...

Even on really hot days, I like to kind of melt in my car. You know, I like the heat, but I will never roll the windows down. Like that's like super rare for me. So it's interesting that you're more open to like rolling them down. Occasionally. I think now that we're older, I roll them down a little less because I'm like, it's just going to blow in our faces and no one's going to have a good time. Right, right.

My dad used to always, you know the overhead window? Sometimes you can crack it open a tiny bit. He would always do that. But I never touched that one. That window is always closed for me. That window's like a myth. Like, is it even there? When you do turn the AC on, what temperature do you turn it on at? So I usually have my car set to about 68 degrees because what I've noticed is even if I don't have AC on, it eventually just...

Ends up blowing cold air because it's like a lower temp. So when I turn AC on, I just leave it at 68. Unless it's like hella hot, then maybe I'll turn it down to like the lowest setting. Dude, I feel like that's...

Hair Care and Hydration

kind of cold when i have my ac on i have it at 75 uh-huh oh wait what the fuck and then if it's really hot i'll like turn it down to 72 whoa wait that's actually really high But it doesn't feel that hot to me. Like 75 already feels like a good temp. And it also works kind of nicely because when it's cold, the AC starts at 75 and then I just push it up to 80 until it warms up.

hmm is that weird i don't know no no i don't think it's that weird but i do think your equilibrium setting for yourself is a little high oh Well, what do you keep your place at? Oh, okay. Actually, that's fair, I guess. If I can help it, I don't turn on any AC or heat. So I just let it fluctuate as the day goes on. But if it does get hot... I like open the windows. I think the threshold for me is if it starts hitting like 81 to 82, then I'll be like, okay, fine. I'll turn the AC on to like 78.

That's really warm, actually, because I'll keep our place at 75 on hot days and then on cold days, 70. It kind of depends. But I think, yeah. The threshold is still the same. When it crosses 81-ish, then I'm like, oh, maybe that's a little warm. Whoa. Although this one is a little harder because...

Whenever I'm at my parents, I feel like their 75 feels different from our home 75. So maybe this is more of like a place to place thing. Maybe. And I think there's actually a. unique thing that happens in my place which is the living room and kitchen is like on one side of the of the area and then the other side is the bedroom and bathroom there's like kind of a

split between the two areas so my thermostat it takes the temperature from the living room but because of the split the airflow is kind of different in the like living room and kitchen area than in the bedroom and bathroom even though the like front area heats up to maybe it becomes like 80 on a on a bad day then

When I'm finished hanging out here and I go back to the bedroom, it's like 73 in there. Oh, okay. That's actually very fair. As long as where you're occupied is a reasonable temperature. Yeah. You don't mess with the heat or cold. Exactly. So I think that helps. Like if the whole place was 80, then I'd probably be like, okay, this is a bit much. Yeah. Okay. I think that's reasonable. You're like, damn, Crystal's just cooking at her place.

Yet for some reason, my car is at 68. Well, yeah, I'm like, that does not make sense to me at all. But I've come around now. I understand. No, it's like every time I get into my car, I'm like, oh, thank God it's 68 in here. You're like, I can breathe again. Well, I have another habit that I think can sometimes differ very heavily from household to household, which is leaving the house after dinner.

I wrote this down recently, but I was thinking more about it and I was like, maybe this wasn't as much of a hard and fast rule as I remember. But for the most part, when my parents came home after work and we all had our like family dinner.

home we rarely left the house afterwards but I noticed a lot of other families or you know just people our age in general We'll eat dinner and then still consider post-dinner time, like a time to maybe run out and do errands or pick up stuff, go grocery shopping or something, which... I find to be kind of interesting. To me, after dinner time is like home time, unless there's some very, very pressing emergency or something.

Unique Physical and Eating Habits

I think that makes sense. Doing errands after dinner does feel kind of weird to me. Like grocery shopping? Aren't most places closed by now? But I think I kind of have a similar habit from you. But it was more like, you know, throughout living with my parents, after we eat dinner, it's like, for what reason could you possibly be leaving the house? So because of that, I'm just used to like not.

leaving the house after dinner as well. The only time in my personal decision making where I'm like, oh, I definitely need to leave right now is if I'm suddenly craving a snack. And I'm like, you know what? A quick trip to Safeway. I can grab those like crackers or whatever. You're right too. And that if there's something that was planned beforehand, you know, like on Monday after dinner, I have to go out and do...

this errand, then I like think of it differently. But in terms of spontaneously going out, a snack run is probably like the only thing that I'm like, okay, spur of the moment decision. I'm leaving the house. Yeah, I guess also now that I think about it. You don't really do nightlife stuff with your family, right? You're not like, mom and dad, let's go out and get some beers. So maybe that's also partially where we have this kind of...

default setting ingrained from. It's also like maybe the transition of coming home after work. My parents would often like shower and then get changed into their lounging clothes. Me after school, I would also be in like sweatpants or something. What is worth changing out of these comfy pants, you know? Wait, that is so true. Once you shower, it's over. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Wait, actually, speaking of showers, I thought of another funny habit. Ooh, okay.

Or maybe it's also like an anti-habit. I feel like a lot of people, they've decided if they're like a morning shower person or if they're an evening shower person. Yes. I think I just don't have a setting. Whoa. I think my shower schedule is just really on a whim. There could be situations where I'm just like, damn, I'm hella tired today and I have to wash my bedsheets soon anyway.

So I'll just shower in the morning. And then that'll reset the shower schedule, right? Because then if I shower in the morning, or the next day at least, there's a lot of... things that can adjust to that too because if I wake up and I'm like oh I'm gonna do my laundry and then maybe I'll like vacuum and clean and then in my mind I'm like that means I'm gonna get dirty so this shower will get pushed back

And then sometimes I'll end up showering, like, maybe in the middle of the day. Whoa. Wait, okay, but... Are these days usually on the weekend slash work from home days? Because I think I can kind of understand if I don't have to go into the office, I'm like, oh, you know, I like do all these mental calculations of like, what's the least number of times?

I need a shower for it to be optimal. No, for sure. But on days that you go in, do you feel like you're more regular? Honestly, I don't know. Because...

Sometimes I'll be like, oh, I'm going to go into the office today, but I don't really have morning meetings, so I might end up going in a little later. If it's like a morning shower day, then that means I might end up showering at like 10 a.m. which is kind of weird right right right interesting well first of all i just have to point out that you said you don't have a setting as if you're an appliance or something I was like, wait. But you know, I can understand this.

It really only takes one night or one morning where you like switch up the schedule and then it cascades into multiple days continuing at that timeline. Exactly. And on weekends, I'm not going to wake up at... 8am to shower just because I did so on Friday or Thursday. Exactly. And I feel like sometimes workouts or physical activity will also derail it. Yes, totally.

I do a workout class on Wednesday afternoon, and then obviously you want to shower after that, or you just suffer, I guess, feeling gross for the rest of the day. So then I guess I end up showering at like... Maybe 4 p.m. in those cases. That always throws me off a little bit, though, because I think there's like a certain duration of time. between my showers that makes me feel clean the whole time right once it passes a certain threshold of hours i'm like oh i feel kind of dirty yeah yeah

So if I were to do a 4 p.m. shower on like Wednesday, then I might start to feel kind of dirty like around lunchtime on Thursday. So then how do you kind of deal with that shower schedule? Dude, I don't know. maybe i'll leave work early oh okay yeah or if i wake up early enough i'll just shower again in the morning but sometimes it feels like a waste right because you're like oh i'm already clean yeah

I guess actually a good alternative is maybe instead of like doing the full wash, just doing conditioner only in terms of hair and then regular body wash. I've never tried that, but maybe I should give it a try. Sometimes I'll do like just a body shower if I'm like, wait, my hair is literally squeaky clean. Yeah, true. But it really takes like one drop of water to just accidentally get on your hair and you're like, okay, I just need to fucking wash it again.

I completely agree. Because if only part of your hair gets wet in a body only shower, it's just weird. It throws off the balance. And then later in the day, you're like, for some reason, I just feel dirty now. And there's nothing worse than having dirty hair or hair that feels dirty. Yeah, agreed. Okay. So another shower related question. Yeah. Do you blow dry your hair? Because recently I've been training myself to blow dry it after every shower and my hair feels so good.

But it adds like an extra 10 minutes to my routine. Dude. Okay, so I try to. And I know it's just way better in some situations. But my go-to is to just air dry. The one time I almost always will blow dry my hair is if I showered right before an event. So I like need my hair to be dry in the next 30 minutes. Then I'll spend the time to blow dry it.

The other time that I try to, but I don't always manage to, is evening showers because I don't want to go to bed with wet hair and I don't want to wait for my hair to dry. right but sometimes i end up getting distracted and then i just wait for it to dry so yeah i think those are like the two main times that makes sense i mean air drying is just so much more convenient because

You can multitask and do other things and you don't have to have like both your hands up fluffing your hair for 10 minutes. Yeah. But I do feel like my hair looks so much better when I blow dry it. So this is like an unfortunate but necessary habit. Also because my hair is really long. So then waiting for it to air dry can feel like an eternity sometimes. So true. My hair has been growing out lately. And then sometimes I'll be like, how's my hair still wet?

Yeah, it's like the bits closest to the nape of your neck. It's just like permanently down. I have actually a really funny habit that I used to have, but I wasn't sure about it.

So basically, when I was younger, my mom would blow dry my hair for me. But then the thing is, like, they're not as in tune with your head, right? So sometimes they might accidentally like... gently knock your head or something as they're like shaking the hairdryer so when I got older and I was like able to blow dry my own hair I was like so When I would get like gentle knocks on the head, is that just because it's more effective because we're bringing the hairdryer closer to my head?

Or was that an accidental knock by my parents? I wasn't sure. So I think for a while I experimented with like just making sure that it was like close enough to almost touch my head. Yeah. And then later I was like, dude, what was I thinking? I probably got knocked in the head one too many times. You're like getting concussed after every blowjoice.

Wait, but doesn't it get super hot or do you use like the cool setting? No, that's the thing. It would get like hella hot and I'd be like, what am I doing? I love that you still tried it out. You're like, just in case. Yeah, I was like, is this supposed to be more effective or something? Oh my god, that's so funny. Once I got my hair blow dried by the person cutting my hair, because you know how sometimes they wash and blow dry it for you? Yeah.

I realized they like shake your hair constantly as they blow dry to like knock the hair off. And I was like, whoa, this whole time I've just been pointing my blow dryer at my head and like slowly moving it up and down. But it's just so much more effective. So I guess I did pick that up from them.

Wait, that's so true. Like getting your hair blow dried at a hair salon is when you truly realize what you should be doing. I'm like, whoa, you know what you're doing? Yeah. I was like, oh, so I'm not getting knocked in the head. yeah thinking back on this i'm like what was wrong with me why was that my thought like why was my thought like yeah this is how you blow dry your hair wait i also think it's so funny that your parents were like knocking your head

Their mind is just like very obviously on something else. They're like, holy shit, why is his hair not dry yet? Okay, I have one last habit.

which I really only noticed because it's something that my partner doesn't really do. And it's grabbing water when we're going on a drive or like driving to somewhere. Oh. it's a habit that i picked up because my dad always does this like anytime we road tripped or something he would always grab bottles of water which is very normal but even when we went on like shorter drive so like something that

we would be back within an hour he would still grab waters for everyone so for us like i will always grab water and it's like a part of our before going out routine but it's not something that's like super top of mind for my so Dude, what if it's like a 10 minute drive to the grocery store? I mean, that I won't grab water. But if we're going back to like eat dinner with his parents or something, I'll like always fill a bottle of water.

But if I don't do it, he won't do it. I see. I mean, that's probably a good habit to have. You're always prepared. I watched this movie called The Tunnel. It's like this Korean movie and the gist is this dude gets stuck in a tunnel because it caves down. So he has to break out of the tunnel somehow and like survive for a couple.

days and one of the components that becomes kind of important is like he had a few spare water bottles in his car so he had some sort of source of hydration right and i was like yeah this is validating my need to always have some sort of water source in the car okay wait actually an important question is

When you grab these water bottles and you put them in the car, after the trip, do you take them out with you or do you leave them in there? At our house, we don't typically have like plastic bottles of water. So it's usually like a refillable one. Yeah. which to me and my mental calculations is slightly better to leave in your car because it's insulated. So I'll say like seven times out of 10 times, I'll bring it back in. But sometimes I'll just like leave it in the car.

Okay, so sometimes you have multiple in there. Never more than two. Oh, wait, okay. Sometimes two. That's funny because in my relationship, I'm the one who's not as good about bringing water or having water on me. And my boyfriend's always like, dude, how are you even alive? When was the last time you hydrated? Dude, your water intake in college was so concerning. I thought you were hydrophobic for a sec. Thinking back, I'm kind of like...

Wow, maybe I am cactus-like. Cactyl. But now I'm much better about drinking water on average. Wait, I remember one year I was like, oh my god, what should I get Crystal for her birthday? And then your boyfriend was like, a water bottle. They were concerned. Yeah, I was like, okay. I also have a random last habit to share. Sometimes when I'm like laying in bed on my phone, I'll like kind of...

kick my legs out. I don't know how to describe this. I kind of like lift my leg and then I just let it fall by itself. Just like slapping the mattress. And my boyfriend was like, what are you doing? Wait, like you're continually kicking out or it's like one big flared kick? Actually, I guess it's not really like kicking. Let's say I'm on my stomach and then I lift my calf.

Okay. Or like I bend my knee so my calf lifts up and then I just like release all tension so that it naturally falls back and like slams down onto the mattress. And you do it once or like multiple times? Like continuously. What the heck? With both legs alternating. Oh, dude, you think it's because you used to swim? Maybe there's an urge in me. I need to swim again. Do you feel like there's benefits to doing it? Dude, I don't think so. But my boyfriend was like...

what are you doing? And I was like, I don't know, thinking, I guess. And he was like, okay. I guess this is Crystal's thinking activity. Is it loud? Yeah, it can definitely be loud. That is so funny. That's probably my weirdest habit. I feel like your brain is directly linked to your legs and it's like the way to keep it moving. Dude, maybe. It's the engine.

Actually, I lied. I have one last habit to share. I'm what I would call a chopsticks power user. Whoa. So I like to use chopsticks for everything. Any meal possible. And I actually also use chopsticks to cook. Oh, okay. I do have like spatulas, you know, other tools, but I just always default to chopsticks. So that's kind of a funny habit because one time I saw my boyfriend use my spatula and I was like, what the fuck? Like, you're not using chopsticks? What was he using it for?

I think it was like stir frying something. Oh, yeah. He was probably like, what the fuck? Why would I use chopsticks for this? You know, I like switch back and forth between a spatula and... chopsticks and actually my mom got me these really long chopsticks from korea and i was like wait this is perfect yeah but there are some things where if i'm cooking salmon or something or say like cheon little korean pancakes that i need to flip yeah chopsticks are better sometimes dude they're elite

Yeah. And even with stir frying, sometimes it's just nice to get into the nicks and crannies because you don't always flip everything with a spatula. But with chopsticks, you can flip the things that... The spatula won't get. Yeah. Also, chopsticks are great for boiling noodles. Oh, yes, totally. I also use chopsticks to like fry eggs.

Oh, whoa, that is kind of interesting. If my pan is small enough, it's sometimes not too difficult to just like flip it with the pan. But if I'm gonna flip something with a tool, I'll use chopsticks. what about like you said you eat a lot of meals with chopsticks what are like some weird ones like would you eat toast with chopsticks oh no i guess i'd just use my hands for that but like soup

I don't use spoons. I just use chopsticks. Oh, interesting. I mean, I feel like everything is just very chopstick friendly. And to be fair, I do eat a lot of Asian food, so it easily lends itself to like chopsticks. You know what boggles my mind?

I get really impressed when people can eat rice with chopsticks. The average bowl of like sticky... rice that a lot of like east asians eat i think are easy enough to pick up with chopsticks but there's always like the bit at the bottom of the bowl where you kind of have to like scrape it right like i always need a spoon for that

yeah and if i'm eating like fried rice definitely need a spoon but i think a lot of people can still use chopsticks to eat it and i'm like that's wild dude it's because they're just like tipping the bowl and shoveling it in with chopsticks but i don't think i don't know like Maybe my agility isn't good enough to get all the grains. Oh, I see. But some people are way more precise with it. They're somehow catching every single grain and shoveling it into their mouth.

okay yeah that's true like some people are really good with chopsticks and some people are just like it's not my utensil i like struggle with it sometimes and especially at like family dinners where we're eating around James's family or like grandparents or something. I think every dinner I've like dropped something in front of everyone with my chopsticks. And I'm like, I am not a chopsticks power user.

dude i think that's totally okay one time my aunt was like struggling to use her chopsticks and she's like sorry guys i'm not very good with chopsticks and i was like Wait, what? Like an adult Asian person is not good with chopsticks? True. And that's when I realized it's just not everyone's utensil. Yeah. I mean, I'm a mean spoon user.

I am great with a spoon. Also, just because I love using chopsticks does not mean that I'm, like, excellent at them. I think I'm just very average, but I just like using them. Fair, fair. I mean, flipping an egg with chopsticks kind of impressive to me. Wow. Thanks.
