Episode description

In this episode of EYL, Rashad Bilal, Ian Dunlap, and Troy Millings dive into the recent news that the US Treasury will be borrowing a staggering $776 billion in the final three months of this year. This announcement comes on the heels of the government's projection of a $1.7 trillion budget deficit for fiscal year 2023. The hosts discuss the implications of this massive borrowing on the stock market and the overall economy.

Ian Dunlap is not one to mince words, as he delivers a stark assessment of the situation. He expresses his concerns about the country's mounting debt and how it is negatively impacting our geopolitical standing. He believes that our aggressive approach has resulted in us being viewed as bullies in the eyes of the world. With the bond market in shambles and the small-cap market destroyed, Dunlap paints a bleak picture of the future.

Troy Millings provides some context to help viewers better grasp the gravity of the situation. He explains the relationship between bond yields and prices, and how the treasury's issuance of more bonds can lead to higher yields. While some may argue that the borrowing came in lower than expected, Millings highlights the fact that the upcoming first quarter of 2024 will see an ask of over $816 billion, the largest in the history of America. The bond market is indeed in shambles.

The hosts delve into the stock market's roller coaster ride, with mid-cap stocks taking a significant hit and only a handful of companies performing well. Dunlap laments the state of the economy and believes that the country is teetering on the edge. He also discusses the impact of high debt on various industries, including streaming and entertainment. The Spotify example serves as a reminder of how the economy's troubles trickle down to other sectors.

In a shift towards discussing the need for diversity in political leadership, Bilal voices his belief that relying solely on old white men is unsustainable. He argues that without a diverse range of perspectives and understanding of what's happening on the ground, the entire political structure is at risk. He criticizes the lack of understanding and cultural divide at the top, particularly in regards to millennials and their access to credible news sources.

As the conversation continues, the hosts highlight the disconnect between those in power and the changing tides of public opinion. They express their frustration with the repetitive propaganda and the unwillingness to adapt to new ideas. The Democratic Party, in particular, is predicted to face challenges if they do not address this divide and provide messaging that resonates with the younger generations.

In this thought-provoking episode, EYL tackles pressing financial and political issues, shedding light on the challenges faced by the economy, the stock market, and the current political structure. Join Rashad Bilal, Ian Dunlap, and Troy Millings as they explore the impact of massive borrowing, the decline of the bond market, and the necessity of diversity and understanding in our political landscape. #EYL #USdebt #economy #stockmarket #diversityinpolitics #politicalstructure #financialchallenges #bondmarket #propaganda #millennials #leadersh

US Treasury to baul seven hundred and seventy six billion in the last three months of this year. Right That announcement comes ten days out of the government said that the fiscal twenty twenty three budget deficit would be around one point seven trillion. So what ay, what do we make of this and what impact will this have on the stock market or overall economy.

Speaker 4

The Doom and Gloom Report is brought to you by its market.

Speaker 5

Mondays it's not good, no one wants or that our ward is worth nothing. Our geopolitical approach, it's intolerable. I was with Shout to my guy Onine one hundred and we were having a conversation about the elite, and we've had these conversations before like those. Let's say, taking Mark Cuban was probably easier to book to get on this show in Eyl than someone with the ninetieth of its networth.

Speaker 2

Right.

Speaker 5

I think for too long we've been the bully in the world and as a result, when the tables turn, the bond market is still in shambles. Stock market, while it went up a lot last week, there's still a lot of risk out there, and also there is no astrametric risk to reward ratio to the upside where it's even feasible to buy stocks. Twenty ranked twentyth through one hundred. Small cap market is destroyed. Overall, This won't be good.

I know they're doing what they have to do, but once we are seeing these deficits of a one point seven trillion the housing market approaching eighteen.

Speaker 4

It's not good.

Speaker 5

And part of all of this, in combination is the reason why we only have seven or eight stocks that are doing incredibly well. But it's not good for it and I wish I had a more optimistic take or assessment to give you. But the glory days of America are done. The two things that we have going for us is that military industrial complex that his uncle fought against the cost of this life, and our stock market, which is a financial weapon, and both of those are getting weaker by the decade.

Speaker 4

I keep saying it.

Speaker 5

If you go back to nineteen eighty eight, which president would you let run your portfolio or any major company in the United States of America? I can name maybe two or three since eighty eight, who is it?

Speaker 2

Two or three? Bill and Barrock?

Speaker 4

Bill Clinton, Bill in Barock breaking.

Speaker 5

It great for the stock market, but we've had bad leaders and going off the gold standard huge mistake.

Speaker 4

Will never be able to get that cat back in the bag.

Speaker 5

That cat is a saber tooth tiger with twenty thousand cousins that you can't defeat.

Speaker 6

I just want to go back just for a clear understanding, because the seven hundred and seventy six billion.

Speaker 2

Is a lot.

Speaker 6

But sometimes when narratives are shaped right, there's there's headlines that are saying, hey, it came in lower than the expectation,

which might be a good thing for the market. The other part of it is that for the next quarter, the first quarter of twenty twenty four, the number is going to be eight hundred and sixteen billion, So the fourth quarter of this year, which would have been the largest ask for any fourth quarter in the history of America, and then we're going to lead into you know, the next year with going over eight hundred billion, and so the bond market is in shambles.

Speaker 2

This is true.

Speaker 6

I'm just going to give contact to people to give them a better understand.

Speaker 2

So I wrote this down.

Speaker 6

So when when the Treasury issues fewer bonds than the climate is anticipating, that helps. But when more bonds are offered, then prices go down on bonds and yields go up. And we just talked about that and that relationship between yields and bonds, and so in terms of the stock market. Good because the yields have are going to come down or on the ladder, great because all right, we put more than more than be issued.

Speaker 2

You'll stay up.

Speaker 5

I'm looking at it like this tot were from one seventy three to eighty six dollars. That's the level was at in two thousand and two and two thousand and seven, Russell two thousand mid like this is the This is like Jeremy Lynz shouts to Jeremy lynn.

Speaker 6

Erners, what's up.

Speaker 5

If I said in this room in twenty twenty and told you Arashot Midcap's gonna go to hell, there's gonna be seven companies out of five hundreds that are doing well. A Troy International stocks are going to be down, and the bond market is going to fall to the lowest lows in two thousand til you'll say, what are you smoking with that director in that terrible chair? And here we are. I keep saying this. The stock market got so bad because the debt is so high that Blackrock and Vanguard had to go say.

Speaker 4

I'm going to be a land lord.

Speaker 5

No one finds that shocking, Like if all of a sudden start doing shot coins flip, I'll start setting myself on.

Speaker 4

Fire on River Road. Something in the trading didn't go right.

Speaker 2

That's a fact.

Speaker 5

Something is wrong, And no one wants to say we have destroyed the economy and the country and we're hanging on by a thread and by stilts so bad even I was talking to one once again. Hey, Spotify, adjusted how many plays you have to get to even get.

Speaker 4

A payout now?

Speaker 5

So at some point that'll go to podcasting, that it go to youtubing, that it go to now. But if I'm changing the metric in which I choose to pay, I'm not gonna say it's a ponzie, but it's ponzi ish ish. So you're getting zero point zero. There's zeroso point three to three per stream. And if you only get fifteen percent or twenty percent, and the label gets

eighty percent. You get a one point five advance. You gotta have seven hundred million streams and ain't that many people listening to artists and.

Speaker 4

That genre.

Speaker 5

Ponzie. We have destroyed this country. I wish once again, I wish I had more optimistic advice. But in for journalistic integrity, we have this not we like as in us in our community, but the country has been destroyed. We can't find good political leadership. There's only maybe ten stocks that I can find that I would put my life on.

Speaker 4

And they want to act like everything is okay.

Speaker 3

But one thing about this, the political leadership is important because I feel like it old white men, it's not gonna work. It's not gonna happen. Be honest with you this if you look at it right outside of Obama, and it's Congress, and it's Senate, and it's the president's and the majority, and even if you know, they just

don't understand what's happening on the ground. And if you don't have some diversity, pretty soon this whole political structure is in danger because it's such a it's such a divide and a misunderstanding, and you can't even educate somebody. You can't educate an eight year old white man on what's going on today. They just don't understand it.

Speaker 2

And never will.

Speaker 3

So the Democrats are going to have a tremendous problem come next year. And I think that that part of that is because there's a cultural divide and the messaging is not understanding. Like I have a pulse of what's going on for at least our culture when it comes to millennials, and it just doesn't seem like the people at the top either either know or care or and it's like you're just trying to keep bullying and forcing your way of thinking, your ideology onto people that don't

believe it. They don't they don't believe it. They're not getting information from they're not getting information from the sources that you traditionally have relied on, and you have traditionally have told us that we should get our sources from. That is not those credible news sources are not credible anymore,

and that's obvious. Day and day we're getting more and more propaganda, and we're seeing the propaganda in his firsthand, and just keep repeating the same things over and over again, and it just feels like there's like a tremendous disconnecting lack of understanding from people at the top of what's going on, and they don't seem to actually be receptive to new ideas. They don't seem to be receptive to what's actually happening on the ground.
