Episode description

This week, hosts Eamon and Seeun interviewed Professor Gregg Sparkman. Dr. Sparkman specializes in research on the psychology of social change, including research on interventions to address social problems related to the environment, health, and social inequity. He recently co-published an article in which he found that Americans’ support of climate change is widely underestimated across the country, with around 80-90% of Americans underestimating the concern their fellow Americans have for support of transformative mitigation policies.

Listen to hear more about Dr. Sparkman's insight into how pluralistic ignorance is shaped by mainstream platforms, such as popular media outlets and political groups, that prompts Americans to think that those around them are not as invested in climate change as they are.
