¶ Season 7 Announcement
Hello , kirsten here dropping into your feed to let you know about a brand new season coming up on April 10 . Yes , season seven is coming and it's jam-packed and we have a sponsor for the entire season .
It's an amazing woman who is part of our Ducks community she was a listener based in rural New South Wales and happens to have a fine jewellery company called Buy CC . You'll meet Ashley in a moment and we also have a really exciting announcement that comes with having a jewellery sponsor
¶ Election Issues for Rural Women
. But our first episode kicks off with a chat that I think is really relevant as we head into election season and it's about how do we get the issues affecting us as rural women onto the table . And I think about this quite a lot and it's why I started this podcast as a platform basically for us to have those conversations that we want .
And , as I like to say , this podcast is not about baking scones . It's about meaningful change around what matters to us . Last season , the episode we did about childcare in rural areas and it was a standout . It's an issue we need to keep pushing , especially before the federal election . What are your local candidates doing about it ? Do they get it ?
So our first episode is about how to make political alliances
¶ Upcoming Episodes Preview
, even if they're unlikely this season . We'll also be talking about other key issues that matter to us , such as education , especially for those in very remote and isolated parts of the country , and another big conversation is about helping women who've experienced the tragedy of baby loss . What do you say to someone ? What should we do for someone ?
How do we help ? How do we make our workplaces and our community organizations more supportive to make it just that little bit easier for someone going through this ? There's also an episode coming up about ag tech and investment in solutions for climate change , so let's make sure we get our voices heard there , too .
So that's just a bit of a taste of what's to come . Right now . I'd like to introduce you to another amazing woman who has a business that will be sponsoring Ducks on the Pond for Season 7 and is now helping us to grow this community even further
¶ Meet Ashley from BuyCC Jewelry
. Hi , ashley , thank you so much for sponsoring Ducks on the Pond .
I'm so excited to be part of I feel it's a movement all these women coming through and I'm just happy to be on board .
Oh , thank you yeah , it is a bit of a movement . And look , you , I think , are a perfect match for us at Ducks in the Pond , because you live in a country area , you're passionate about what you do and you're driven by making communities better .
Yeah , I've lived in so many rural communities now and I feel that women are always the backbone . They're the ones that keep these communities afloat , and I think it's really important that we raise women as a whole . Yeah , I'm just excited to be able to support bringing people up , providing them with quality products .
This whole thing just excites me , which is awesome , right ? So tell us about what you do .
So I'm a bit of a multifaceted entrepreneur , so I have a few side hustles , but what we're doing here is a fine jewelry brand , so it's called Buy CC Fine Jewelry and basically I make things like this that will last forever , so pieces that someone can invest in , wear every day forever and then pass on when the time's right .
Invest in , wear every day forever and then pass on when the time's right . So it was really important of us to support Australians but also to use Australian products , so everything's Australian mined . We make it all here . I design it on the edge of the Warrumbungles and , yeah , it's a bit of fun for me .
Yeah , I can tell you're a New South Wales from the birds I grew up in New South Wales and I don't hear those birds where I live in Victoria now , but when I hear it it makes me think of home .
Yeah , yeah , we're really lucky . We moved to Coonabarabran , which is on the edge of the Warrumbungles , and we have , I think , about seven magpies that live in the gum tree next to us . So I have to say we're pretty lucky .
So why did you start your brand ? So you design everything .
Yes , that's right , I like my side hustles and the other half's the same . So , knowing that we could move anywhere and doing anything , I wanted something that I could take with me if we were to keep moving . Online sales is the easiest way to go , and so I went into the jewellery sphere , mainly because I saw a need for something that wasn't there .
So there's lots of cheaper brands that do short-term things , but I didn't see many Australian brands that really pushed an Australian product . So here I am . It's a work in progress , but , yeah , I'm really excited about what we're able to produce here .
Now . You're quite a phenomenal woman in your own right and we'll get to hear from you in a later episode in this season , which is exciting
¶ Special Giveaway Details
. But we're also doing a giveaway here at Ducks in the Pond and I've been teasing about it and clearly it's going to be some fine jewelry and it's a ring that I think is beautiful . It's called Piper , it's a bestseller and I can understand why . Can you describe it ?
It's like a princess crown . It was actually my first design , so I had started in just importing pieces before I decided to go down the fine jewelry route , and the Piper was actually my first design . It was such a risk . I had no idea what I was doing , but I had this idea .
I sent it through to the makers and then , when they sent it back to me , I didn't realize that I'd only asked for it to be half made . Basically , it came and it was basically straight out of the mold and I was like I've spent thousands of dollars on this stuff and I can't do anything with it .
So luckily , they were able to help me out and it went on to become , like you said , one of our best sellers and it is just the perfect addition to a stack . It's a piece that's really special to me .
So I'm so glad that we're able to gift one to one of your listeners and , yeah , it's something that they really should get on board because they'll keep it forever .
Yes , so keep listening , because we will give you some more details this season , so in the upcoming episodes , about how you can enter and it's white or yellow gold , Fully customizable so they can get it in whatever gold they want .
We do 10 karat clarity . It is nice and hardy . So most of your listeners are probably the same as me . They're probably mums . They do a lot of things with their hands so we do want to make sure that they're minimal by design , but something that is sturdy enough to wear every day .
So I know you're probably going out and doing the gardening and chasing the kids around doing the washing up all the things , so check out the Buy CC website and you can have a look at the Piper Ring and your other beautiful designs .
Thank you so much , ashley , so excited to have you on board as our season sponsor . Where else can people find you ?
I feel like I'm everywhere . But yes , instagram and the website BuyCC . That's where we're at . If you have any questions , feel free to slide into my DMs as well .
And that's Ashley Malloy , who has a fine jewellery company called BuyCC . So April 10 is when the new season kicks
