Listen, there's a lot to talk about here. You could talk about how we've been doing this show for a decade, or about how Sonic exemplifies the tension between freeform arcade gameplay and the slower, more exploratory form of platformers that would ultimately win out in the end, but the real story here is that I need you to imagine a screenshot of a notes app post where I apologize for mixing up the seed drill and the cotton gin in this episode. Big thanks to Gwen Static for this awesome remix of...

We're as surprised as you are that this turned out to be okay. But it's kinda fun! We know that Kirby's cute, but he'd also be a nightmare to live around. This 2003 cartoon presents the reality of having a Town Kirby... a pre-verbal infant cosmic monstrosity who can destroy homes on a whim. Though we disgree with his methods, we have to say it's hard to fault King Dedede for wanting him gone.

The Monarch's plan to hold the boys hostage for a ransom payment is foiled by Captain Sunshine, his sometimes nemesis. What results is a fraught half hour of television that plays with rumors, jokes, and questions about the nature of the relationship between superheroes and their boy wards. But seriously, the joke is that it isn't what you think. Special thanks to Joshua Jarett for our cover art, Gwen May for our theme song, and Brayton Cameron for being our announcer....

An episode where, admittedly, neither of us can remember a specific aspect of the Heroes of Might and Magic universe... but it doesn't matter, because this is actually just King's Bounty! So you can't trick us with your lies.

You should be warned that we're really cranky in this one. As we head into the territory of the Shadow Worshippers, Ashen finds even more ways to turn us off to what might otherwise be its charm. We hit the Palace of Lathyrus and finish out the game, despite the game's best efforts to repel us with its dungeon design and noun soup story. If us being down on a game brings you down, you know what to do with this one.

It's not enough to be weird! This early PSX game is about a tribe of cavemen who wander a mostly empty void, eating cookies and maybe collecting bones to make into a tower. We run out of steam talking about it, so we switch to a nuclear grade digression that you'll have to hear to believe.

It's rain-soaked, neon-soaked, and blood-soaked. It's Katana Zero, an action game that takes multiple pages from the Hotline Miami book. You play an unnamed contract killer with the unlikely ability to manipulate time, and you're in the middle of a conspiracy that has a lot to do with your sordid past. The play is great, but does the additional emphasis on story work out? Support Watch Out for Fireballs!

Season 4 opens with a weird one, as we wave bye to Brock and welcome in the Sergeant Hatred era. Steve is a paramedic who just got a brain cancer diagnosis, and his best friend's daughter just went missing. This sets Steve to investigating a designer drug that, accidentally, has "time travel" as its side effect. This is our least favorite Moorhead and Benson film, primarily because of its thematic sloppiness. There's still plenty to recommend it, like the visual effects and Anthony Mackie's performance, but understand that the Endless still reigns supreme in the "horror with a heart" genre....

This is actually a good game, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to talk about Forbidden Cubes. If you're familiar with this, it's probably because of a demo disk that came with your PlayStation, or from buying the PlayStation Classic mini-console. Its austere, frankly creepy presentation wraps up a satisfying puzzle game that gives us plenty of geometry-based digression material.
