This month we return to the work of Stuart Gordon with his 2001 film Dagon . This is an adaptation of The Shadow Over Innsmouth , and it does a very good job of capturing the spirit of that story while still making some fundamental changes. It also has one particular scene that is extremely difficult to watch. So be warned?

Everything To Guppy is a bite-sized, four-times weekly comedy/gaming podcast in which Gary Butterfield (Watch Out For Fireballs) and William Hughes (The A.V. Club) attempt to analyze every single item, boss, character, and concept in the rogue-lite video game The Binding Of Isaac. They manage to pull it off only slightly less than 50 percent of the time.

This week begins our coverage of Blasphemous, a Soulslike platformer developed in Spain. Featuring some of the best pixel art, music, and tone we've seen in these games, it's an aesthetic feast. This first episode covers the mechanical generalities and the opening, up through the dungeon called Mercy Dreams.

Reminder that you can read along with and ahead of the show by subscribing to Marvel Unlimited (we don't get paid for you doing that, so it's not an ad, it's just a cool service). You can also use Comixology, or buy the trades from your local comic book shop (the preferred method, if we're being honest). Be sure to check with your local library to see if they have them there! Bayou Billy is an infamously bad NES game by Konami. So it only makes sense that we spend the whole episode brainstorming ScorpWorld.

This isn't a podcast, it's an act of violence. To celebrate the season, we found three extremely onerous Winter Holiday themed episodes of Nintendo cartoons from the 90s. First and most awfully, we bring you an episode of the Donkey Kong Country cartoon called "The Kongo Bongo Festival of Lights" . DK is bad at doing gifts, and one of the lizards is lonely enough to blow up the world. Second, we look at the Super Mario World cartoon where our heroes try to civilize cave men by making them Christ...

Our final premium episode for 2019 takes us to a fantasy far East, where Bioware tries out some new stuff that ultimately doesn't work out great . While we find the world interesting and the characters and quests charming, Jade Empire falls down on its two biggest selling points: real time action combat, and a different take on morality systems. Listen in to hear us articulate our specific problems with this transitional game for an important studio.

Hooters is an American chain restaurant where all the waitstaff are busty women, dressed in low-cut tanktops and short orange skirts. This burger and wing restaurant decided the best move for their brand was to release an abysmal late-era PSX racing game. But nothing about the game is as interesting as Hooters' history of legal entanglements.
