Time for a nice chat, folks. Gary and Jeremy discuss the new (as of recording) X-Men Phoenix trailer, talk about their ideal X-Men video games, and then answer your comments and questions.
Humming, all the way to Reno. You're gonna be a star... spawn.
Watch out! Behind you! You'll hear that a lot in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, a game from Ninja Theory that goes all in on the gimmick of using 3D sound to approximate audio hallucinations. We talk through this remarkable "AAA indie game", which has a young woman venturing into the Norse underworld to rescue the soul of the one she loves. Unfortunately, not everthing is fantastic here, since there's a bunch of nonsense filler in the game. Support Watch Out for Fireballs!...
The episode of the podcast of the Malleus Monstorum of the entry of the Guardians of the Crystalizers of Dreams.
The tradition of Halloween readings continues this year with Kole's reading of The Yellow Wallpaper , by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. It's an early work of feminist literature, and an early psychological horror story. Like Frankenstein , its horror results from the depiction of extreme medical malpractice. Gilman wrote the story to protest the way women's psychological and emotional health were being treated by a chauvinist, male-dominated medical profession. The narrator and protagonist of the sto...
Kole, Ben, Dennis, and David talk about the PlayStation Classic lineup reveal, Super Mario Party, and we ask you about the dumbest ways you’ve died in video games. The Brief: The PlayStation Classic game roster is underwhelming. Harmonix is working with Twitch to make a streaming karaoke game. No Man’s Sky goes under water with The Abyss. Resident Evil 4, the REmake, and Resident Evil 0 are coming to Switch. The Multiplayer: What’s the dumbest way you’ve died in a game? The Grind: Dennis: WipeOu...
This might surprise you, but we think Sailor Moon is cool and good. This game, however, is very very bad.
These worms just want to see Robocop.
The title is a lie. Rocky and Bullwinkle have no friends.
And the goat says: You want it when!?
Let's hear your responses to Night in the Woods, and the other indie horror games we did in October! Support Watch Out for Fireballs!
Of course we did the needful.
Walk without rhythm, please.
Hello folks! Join us as we discuss the unexpectedly hilarious movie: Deadpool. We'll get into every meta plot, bad joke, and terrible pun that we were able to remember. Enjoy!
Kole, Ben, Jala, and David talk about the Rockstar labor controversy, 1979 Revolution: Black Friday, and we ask you about your favorite open world games. The Brief: Onimusha is getting an HD re-release. Rockstar’s 100 hour faux pas. Are open world games getting too big? The Multiplayer: What is your favorite open world game? The Grind: Ben: No Man’s Sky. Kole: Resident Evil 7. Jala: Nine Parchments. Heroes of the Monkey Tavern. 1979 Revolution: Black Friday. David: Middle-earth: Shadow of War....
Lil' Stand.
It's time to play our favorite game, that old standard: Which Wizard is coolest? Honestly, there's not a whole lot to talk about with this game, aside from how weird blonds are. So we wiz it up.
Mumblecore playdates with a tinge of existential, cosmic dread. That's a succinct summation of Night in the Woods, the capstone for our indie horror month. This is a beautiful, charming game that goes to great lengths to endear you to its cast. It sensitively and deftly portrays issues of mental illness, poverty, and faith. We just wish it didn't have structural problems, because they result in the game hiding its light under a bushel. Let me hang with Germ Warfare, please! Support Watch Out for...
