Let's hear your responses to Quest for Glory II, Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, and not Gabriel Knight 3! Support Watch Out for Fireballs!
Kris and Kole talk about empathy prosthetics, the commerce of comfort, and unwise thrift. ALSO: The Full Tremaine. Elementary school art glasses. Moving travails. Don’t put the whole story in the headline. Safe alcohol consumption is a myth. The worst lap dance song. How to rig up a “Party” button. CDC warns against line-drying condoms. Period privation. A shitty terrorist ruins a 7-11. The Germans cannot be trusted with weather machines. Links: The Happiest Mug Shot...
An episode of Abject Suffering that's about suffering.
This is it folks! Time to wrap up the Avengers with a three part episode that was scaled back to two parts and instead of rewriting the story they just ended on the second episode! Hurrah! Plz enjoy.
Kole, Ben, and Dennis talk about some followup to that Spider-Man proposal, Ratchet and Clank, and we ask you about your favorite times that games have honored your unexpected choices. The Brief: Followup: The Spider-Man Proposal. Lots of board game adaptations are coming to the Switch. Horizon Zero Dawn board game Kickstarter succeeds wildly. The Multiplayer: What’s your favorite way a game has honored your unexpected choices? The Grind: Ben: Spider-Man. Magic: The Gathering. Dennis: Ratchet an...
We love the Gabriel Knight series, but Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned is the kind of game only a parent could love. It follows Knight's adventures in France as he tries to solve a kidnapping case that involves the Holy Grail and a set of vampires called "The Night Visitors". What makes Gabriel Knight 3 such a dicey proposition to play is its questionable presentation. Sierra forced Jane Jensen and her team to make the game fully 3D, which they were neither equipped to accomplish, nor c...
Johnny Cage is not afraid to die, but we weren't prepared for this album. We aim for variety on this show. We don't want to fall into a rut of just covering bad video game movies. Sometimes we want to cover bad video game music, too. Mortal Kombat mania produced a lot of cultural output, but nothing matches the sheer idiocy of Mortal Kombat: The Album , by The Immortals, a side project of Lords of Acid. You need to experience it for yourself to understand just how execrable a novelty techno danc...
Two is one and one is none. That's what we learn in this week's episode, as Autumn Greer joins me to talk about the beginning of the end of Wolves of the Calla. We learn why the older Slightman is cooperating with the Wolves, and we also get closer to figuring out how to protect the Rose. However, it involves Eddie taking a brief jaunt into is old, strange home of Manhattan.
He's too angry to articulate how angry he is, which just makes him angrier. He is the architect of his own perfect Hell.
Kole, Ben, Dennis, and David talk about Spider-Man, curious AI, and we ask you what your favorite modern local multiplayer game is. The Brief: Spider-Man has the saddest easter egg in it. Project Awakening is suspiciously similar to a lot of other games. Blackout is Call of Duty’s battle royale mode. Research on curious AI. The Multiplayer: What’s your go-to current gen local multiplayer party game? The Grind: Kole: Rocksmith 2014. Ben: Spider-Man. Black: The Fall. David: Cryptark. Fallout 4. De...
Callahan's Place is a very special bar, where flawed people from across space and time gather to share their pain and be healed. This makes for a very strange basis for a video game, but Legend managed to pull it off. Though the puzzles aren't always great, Callahan's skates by with a lot by being laugh-out-loud hilarious and unusually humane. Seriously, this is wayyy up there. Support Watch Out for Fireballs!
Kris and Kole talk about food safety, transformative spaces, and a new level of cat fishing. ALSO: Library Swords. A code red, room temperature milk problem. The problem with Papa. Kole explains “owning the libs”. Swing State of Mind. Public urinals are a scourge. Shopping his soul around.
An adventure/strategy hybrid game that's less painful than the Gom Jabbar!
See you in a few weeks for the beginning of our season on the Malleus Monstorum!
Welcome back folks! This week we're covering THREE episodes of Avengers: United They Whatever. The quality range is all over the place, but the episode is in the middle is easily my favorite out of this entire series. EGGHEAD4LYFE.
