He completed his general surgery training at St Joseph Hospital and then completed a fellowship in bariatric surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and flexible endoscopy at the Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery. He is board-certified in general surgery with a focused practice designation in metabolic and bariatric surgery. He is also board-certified in obesity medicine.
