Right, let's get into this story then. A number of high ranking police officers appearing in court today, amongst them Crime Intelligence Boss General Dumisani Kumarlo. Another six senior ranking officers appearing as well, this after they were arrested by members of the Investigating Directorate against Corruption. Quite a lengthy appearance from what I could see. The conversations around bail were quite extensive. But really, what is the matter before
the court? Oren singh Ewn reporter has been in the court but also asking some questions outside. Are in a very good afternoon too, What can you tell us about this matter? Some are saying their rests are significance significant. Of course, the case still has to be made and proved.
Yes, definitely, John, and I think we'll see that in the coming weeks. The case was postponus afternoon to the thirteenth of August, and majority of the seven accused, six of them in fact, were awarded ten thousand and bail, although they had requested that the court released them on a thousand and bell, which the magistrate was not happy with. Given the fact that many of these officials within Crime Intelligence are executive members within Crime Intelligence and earning quite
a hefty salary. We heard that the head of Crime Intelligence to Musani Kumalo, earns about seventy four thousand and a month. But essentially, what's what's the main issue at hands here, John, is they're facing charges of corruption and fraud. And this relates to the hiring of a non SAPs person into a very high ranking and senior position within crime Intelligence. Dneo Moquele, a woman who we believe worked
previously at private company. She was hired within crime intelligence last year in April, and she was hired at a brigadier into quite a senior executive role. The State ledgers that the six of us CO accused they colluded in sort of working around getting her into the system. So essentially John catered deployment to an extent, and the States is saying that they've got a very strong case against all seven of these accused.
Well, we'll follow it with a great deal of interest. Oren Singh E. W and reporter joining us here on seven O two Drive
