To our fires touch stop. Waddle stocked into the end zone of Miami Tip Pro Tip window. They had to get that touchdown on that play. They give it. What is up? Dolphans And Welcome to the Drivetime Podcast, part of the Miami Dolphins podcast network, covering your team, your Miami Dolphins. How's it going everybody? It is Friday. I am your host, Travis Wingfield, and as always I am here to bring you your daily dose of Miami Dolphins football. And on today's show, it's a football Friday and a
fan Friday. Here on Draft Time, we have John Kjemmy, a great interview with him coming up talking about this Jets game, some other things going forward here with the franchise and the football team. Fun interview with Conjemmy. As always, we're gonna get to your questions on the mail bag. We're gonna pick the NFL games this week. And we're not from the Baptist Health Studio today but rather West Broward. And a quick note before we jump into the podcast here.
This was recorded before the news of Jalen Waddle and Jared Oakes going on the covid I r list. This is the Drive Time Podcast. Let's go ahead and kicked this thing off as we do every Friday with my interview with John con Jemmy and joining me on the podcast now as he does every Friday, is my friend John con Jemmy, John bye week didn't have you on last week? How is your time down? Well, I had some time to to rest and actually have some fun
almost like two of with his bye week. You know, he was out playing some golf and it was funny because we were at the same golf course. So I felt like I had about three groups of Miami Dolphin players that were on the golf course, and they moved along quite nicely. So it was good for me and I got to see a lot of familiar faces. So that's kind of how I spent uh my time away
from the building in terms of my bye week. That was on my notes here to ask you about two of playing both golf as well as he said on Wednesday that he got dosed by a couple of old
guys in the pickleball court. Um. But one thing I thought was fascinating about to was golf game was he said he started playing this year and then in a press conference, I think it was last week, he said that he shot an eight eight, and I'm said, you're thinking, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, one year of golf, a lot of not even a full year of golf, and you're already shooting eight. What was your what was your handicap when your first year in a golf John? You know what, I don't even
know if I had a hint exactly. It was so embarrassed to put my scores in. Um, you know that's amazing. Um it probably wasn't as good as two us and um, you know because I've seen two out on the range, and you know, you're always trying to give your your ten cents worth to try to help out a friend or help out a guy that you know, so you try to help, but he's doing it on his own.
And uh, he's actually spends a lot of time in the off season, you know, homing his game or trying to get kind of acclimated to how he can get better. At least I've seen that and witnessed that. And to the point of pickle ball, a couple of friends of mine, some of my guys that are around my old elderly age, actually played with twa I think in plantation and they may be the culprits that dusted. So we gotta I
gotta look into that. I'm pretty sure they were because he mentioned and he he didn't hold back on saying old dudes, and he said they gave him up a pretty good dusting there on the pickleball court? Is that? Is that a pretty South Florida thing? I see a lot down here. I'm not real familiar with it from back home. Is that kind of a South Florida thing? Pickleball? You know? It might be. I'm not quite sure, because
a lot of guys play it. I know that my son, you know, he plays some with the coaching staff with the Florida Panthers when they're on the road. Uh So, so a little bit of everybody kind of plays it. It's what I've heard, Travis. It's great. It's great, uh to be outside. You don't have the vigors of a big tennis court, but you get a good workout in So I think I think a lot of hand i coordination. Uh, it's a lot of fun. People get to work out, and I guess you can have a cocktail or two
after which which is even better. So I think pickle ball is in my future. I just haven't gotten there yet. They kind of kind of test that side to side lateral agility as well, the kind of quick movement today. Now I'm with you, I'm I'm interested. I've always been a big ping pong and even tennis fan. Two, So pickle ball, you know, a little bit less activity at this age seems a little bit better for me. So let's go ahead and jump right there and stay on
the topic of two. A tongue volo with the Dolphins quarterback. He's he's playing really well right now, and the Dolphins are winning games, obviously, and I find it pretty interesting that this is really his first repeat game against the team twice within the same year. He would have had the opportunity against Buffalo, and he technically did prepare for both teams for both games and started both games, but
he only played nine snaps in the first one. Obviously, one game against the Pats last year and then one so far this year. Gets to see him again at the end of the season, but now he gets the Jets here for the second time in four weeks. How and he and really the entire Dolphins offense. Since I think passer rating is more of a measure of your passing game as a whole. How can they keep the streak of four games in a row with one plus
pass ratings alive? I believe too needs to continue to take throws two receivers, tight ends, running backs that are open and available. You know, don't pass up the gimme or the layoup for looking for something down the field that might happen that might not be clean at the time. Take the things that are available. And I think that's what this offense has done really well. I think two has done a good job in his decision making of
getting the football to the right people. But he's done it quickly, he's done it efficiently, and he's had great ball placement in doing it. And I think the receiving corps as a whole, and I'm talking about wide out slots, tight ends, running backs, they've been able to get in sync with where they need to be when the ball needs to come out, and that's a big key. Sometimes I guess that the general fan doesn't take into consideration, well,
why is the quarterback holding the football? Well, maybe because the receiver is not timed up yet. You know, he's not out of his route, he's not cleared that zone coverage, or he hasn't sat down, or he hasn't beat man on an under route. I think that's been a good job of this entire offense and the way it's been
put together over the last four or five weeks. Guys are breaking open when tours, anticipating that they will be open, and the ball is coming out on time, and boy, it takes a whole lot of pressure off the offensive line when they know that ball is coming out and he's not scrambling into a sack. Uh. You know, those
things happen sometimes when you're disjoining. The Dolphins have been on point in terms of ball out accuracy, getting enough out of the running game, and even though they're wearing out Jalen Waddle in terms of targets and and catches, and I'm I'm good with that, the ball is getting to other places on the field now that Davante's back. It's getting outside the numbers, you know what, which might help Mike out in the middle of the field on
those steam routes and crossing routes. So it's starting to get it's starting to gel nicely. And two is the main I guess engine in that because he's been doing a nice job of not passing up open throws, taking the things that are available. The completion percentage has gone up, but four to the last five starts over sevent You mentioned the passer rating. That's a collective you know thing, And I think they're starting to gell a little bit
more with his elevated play. Yeah, you spark a fall up question there for me talking about kind of the chemistry and the rhythm of this offense finding it stride a little bit. And one thing I always go back to John that there's two different schools of thought that I've heard from people that I think you know, really know better than anybody else, and that's Bruce Arians and Peyton Manning. And Bruce Arians has always said that about eight weeks in is when you start to get really
familiar and comfortable with a new system. Now, Peyton Manning earlier this year on the Manning Cast, said that it wasn't until year two that he really felt like I know where the first read is and I know where the second read is, but I have to kind of think about it before processes to get back to that
second read. Whereas in your number two, it's natural, it's inherent I get back to that second read without even thinking about it from your perspective someone that played the position, is that, where do you kind of come down on the new system and how long it takes to kind of jel and click with a new group. Well, familiarity is really the quarterback's friend in an offense and being able to move people around with that that are either in the scheme or maybe just on the fringe of
the scheme of what's called. And I think the Dolphins have done a really nice job of complimenting um their their offensive line with a quick passing game. They've been able to use motion and formations to allow players like Albert Wilson to get more involved in the in the offense with those jet sweeps and being able to you know, hit the fringes with those quick screens and passing game. And they've been able to use Kasiki down the middle
of the field. They've been able to use Jalen both now in the deeper passing game and after run after catch. Things that all helps your offense jail. It all helps your offense move because the balls being spread out quickly and in the up tempos helping a little bit to you know, sometimes in that game where you feel comfortable about what you're doing, I can see George Gatzie and
to it. Hey, let's let's push the tempo here on this series because we've got them on the run, we've got the lead, we're playing with some confidence, and it's it's just like another gear you get to. So the familiarity, it starts with coordinator and quarterback, but it does filter through the entire offense. And you kind of see that with the success of the way the Dolphins have been able to move the football effectively and play that bit
of complementary football. Yeah, offense, defense, special teams. You're getting it everywhere, but it's complementary within the offense. So you're getting an enough run to help out a little bit of rpo play action. But the ball is coming out on time, which means the quarterback feels good about what he's seeing and where he's going with it. And I
think you do get that as you move along. You know, remember we all think two has been here for years now, it's only been you know, a blip on his radar, but he's starting to get familiar. You can tell with this new system, it's being streamlined they're getting to the plays that really work in this offense, or not only him,
but for everyone. Now. I'm glad you mentioned that the up tempo aspect of it, because it seems like sometimes they come out of the locker room break in the second half and they hit that tempo and they hit their stride and it really carries over and just in general, the offense and I guess the team too, seems to really play their best ball as the game goes along, which I think is a good sign for adjustments and kind of getting the feel of the flow of the game.
A cool stat I found the other day, John was at the Dolphins. Over the last four games, you know, since two came into the lineup and then the three starts, they have possessed the football in the fourth quarter for an average of ten minutes in seventeen seconds. And maybe it's not gonna while you in terms of the three yard passing days, but you get a lead and you sit on the football and you're efficient and you can move the chains and keep the defense fresh and off
the field, you're gonna be tough to beat. And that's something I think the Dolphins have done very well on that side. Of the football and of course that complements with the defense has done so well over the winning streak as well. But they gotta of course keep it going here and it starts with the Jets and Zach Wilson. What's the key to top in the rookie quarterback there for the Jets, John Well, I think one of them,
Travis is stopping the run. You know. I think Michael Carter might have a chance to get back for the Jets this week. He's the team leader in rushing yards, but he's the dynamic guy because he can beat you, you know, catching a pass out of the backfield, making somebody missing space and getting him first down. As well as when there's two yards available on the ground, he's going to get the two and maybe four or five. He's just that kind of vision runner. He's got that
little jump cut in the middle of the hole. He's a really good guy to have on your team. So I think the key to stopping one of the keys to stopping Zach Wilson is is stopping the run. The Dolphins have been pretty good defensively and stopping the run all year. The couple that I think you need to
continue to have multiple looks upfront, who's coming, who's not coming? Uh, making identification problems not only difficult for the offensive line, but difficult for the quarterback to set the protection at the line of scrimmage because that taxes you as a quarterback, because you're trying to figure that out. You've got the play call in your head. You're looking at the play clock and saying, man, it's dwindling down. Let's let's get
everybody organized. But now you're not quite sure. So if the Dolphins can throw a little bit of hesitation into a rookie quarterback's brain at the line of scrimmage while he's trying to traffic control uh, just about everything within fourteen now, twelve, now eight seconds, I think it puts a lot more pressure on a quarterback to get back to simplicitly running the offense, you know, getting the ball snapped on time, getting the ball out to the right people.
You know, sometimes that dictates holding the football. And if you run into sacks or you run into interceptions, you run into incompletions. That's where the Dolphins have been able to feed on defense over this wind streak. So I think those things kind of mirror each other. If you can stop the run, show some confusing looks at the line of scrimmage, whether you're coming or not, in blitz or zero, whatever you're in. It taxes the time and
efficiency of a quarterback, especially a young one. Like that kind of reminds me of something that Brian Flores has talked about really for all three years that he's been here, and I think something that maybe the fan base maybe overlooks a little bit, but it truly is important. You can certainly attest to it. You know, your huddle atiquette, getting in and out of the huddle and getting the
calls in and making sure everyone's aligned right. Those are small details that go a long way, and you have to get it right every single snap for you know, sixties sixty five snaps per game, and you know you talk about First of all, I thought Joe Flacci play really well in the game last time against the Dolphins
with Yeah, he was sharp in that game. We'll see what happens here with with Zach Wilson down here in Miami where the Dolphins have a I believe four game winning streaker going at this point down here at hard Rock Stadium. But as far as that defense goes John possible that Javon Holland does not play in this game. I was gonna ask you about Holland and the running backs. Will come back to the running backs here in just
one second. But what is the Dolphins approach or how do they overcome the loss of potentially Javon Holland the secondary if he can't go on Sunday. Well, it's a big loss because he does a lot for you as a defense. He's kind of he's handling all the calls. You know, this is a guy that's back there, that's running the defense. So if you don't have him, maybe some of that weight goes uh to Row. Maybe you get Brandon Jones back closer to healthy. That could help
that safety position out a little bit. But it's a big loss for for Javon if he's not in there. He's a he's a tone center with the hits I mentioned him, you know, kind of making the calls and running the defense. So that has to go to somebody else. That that that big responsibility has to go to somebody else.
But you're hoping that, you know, the combination of Jones and Rogue can can offset the loss of hauling for a game you know, you hope it's just a game if it is a game, But but that's a that's a big responsibility that's gonna be spread probably within two or three players if you don't have hauling for the game. Yeah, hopefully Brandon Jones is back from the elbow injury that
Cosmo miss the last two games. We have John con Jemmy here on the Drive Time podcast taking a look at Dolphins and Jets, and normally at this point we go to the Dolphins will win if But I want to bring a male bad question up to this segment because it kind of covers a question that I had
for you regarding the running back room. It's from at bir Cheesy, great great Twitter name, and he says, since COVID has hit the running back room hard, what do you think about using wattle out of the back field a little bit like San Francisco does with Deebo Samuel And I added on to that question to kind of make it more I guess wide spread across the entire room, and you know, just kind of taking another another step here more so about do you think there are different
creative ways you might go about replacing those guys in terms of a wattle in the back. And we've even seen I think Mike Gasicki and Preston Williams aligned as kind of a single wing back there at times this year. These guys have creative formations in their back pocket. Do you go in that direction or do you just call guys up John and kind of go with what you
have on the roster the practice squad. We know Duke Johnson's up, Jared Doakes is of option down there as well, and then I'm missing someone else the news signing Dexter Williams, the new guy that came in this week as well. Is it that approach? Do you go kind of more off off your normal script? Like, what do you think is the approach replacing those guys? If Lindsay, Achmed and Gascon are all down, I think you have to have
a combination of both in my opinion. If you're the coordinator of the Miame Dolphins, so I think Eric and George, you know, getting ready for the week, they have to know, Hey, can Duke Johnson Carrie X amount of times can Jared Doakes be trusted in protection? Can either one of them
be trusted in past protection? And if not, do we go a little bit more empty, and do we use guys like Wilson, you know, with the motion and maybe you put Wattle in the backfield doing the same thing with that jet motion, or lining them up and then motioning them out and getting too empty, which could stress a defense because that's something that they haven't seen a
lot from the Miami Dolphins. So you prepare for it as the Jets defensive coordinator, but you haven't seen it on film a lot, so you're kind of guessing on where Miami would go. So it might be to the advantage of the Dolphins. Hey, let's face it, they're not running it with a lot of efficiency and consistency. So running is not the big thing that the Jets are preparing for, but they may be preparing for ghosts in
terms of how does how do the Dolphins approach this? Yeah, they could pull up Duke Johnson, they could pull up Jared Ops, But how do they run their slot wide receivers tight ends in conjunction with empty or motioning to empty or or getting them in the running game as they did earlier in the year, or do they go more with the quick screen game or the now plays on the outside it's a lot more complicated I think for the Jets to prepare then the Dolphins losing their
top two or three running backs because they haven't they haven't relied heavily on the run game. It's there as uh, I guess window dressing to to really mask something else. So your running just enough to get to the r p O s and maybe it changes this week. You go with motion and formation and handing it to Wilson or or Jalen Waddle for a couple of plays, just to have that wrinkle in there that puts the Jets on their heels. That's great stuff, John. I appreciate you.
You bring that perspective. That's why I wanted to get that question to you here on the mail bag. We're gonna come back and talk to John a little bit more here about how the Dolphins can win this game. A couple more mail bad questions, but first a quick break. All right, Johnson, we did the mail bad question first. We're gonna come back and get a couple more of those. But I want to ask you, as we do every week here, the Dolphins will win this game against the
Jets if fill in the blank. Um I would say to your point earlier, Travis, you mentioned that nugget about the Dolphins holding onto the football in the fourth quarter. Um, I think a lot of that is related to not
turning the football over. I think you know to a in the middle of the season, I think when he came back from the rib injury, before he got the finger injurr or somewhere in between, there was always that one play that you'd like to take back on a on a Monday morning when you're watching the film or Sunday night as you're thinking about the Dolphin game, and that one place seemed to hold the Dolphins back a
little bit. And they haven't made that play in a number of weeks, and I think that's led to them being confident later in the game and holding onto the football and being able to keep the opposing offense on the sidelines. And I think that's gonna half to hold true again against the Jets when you look at the numbers really even in terms of what they've done offensively
and defensively, but I think it's that one play. If the Dolphins stay away, continue to stay away from that turnover, that one bad play that kind of turns the game a little bit. I think they'll get to the fourth quarter dominance again and they'll be able to be able to win again and keep this win street going. So
that that's one of the keys. I would say. You have to be able to do that, and then you might see some tempo, especially tempo or empty early in the game to mask some of that deficiency that we saw at running back, to be able to get to other things that the Jets haven't prepared for, and you
might be able to spring a big play. You might be able to cut the field in half, and you might be able to take that that step where you're going from three nothing to tend nothing against the Jets, and now you're putting more pressure on a young quarterback that's facing some unusual looks from the Dolphins defense. So
I think those things work hand in hand. If the Dolphins can stay away from that play that they have been able to do during this win streak, take advantage of not having the backs by getting to your playmakers in some unorthodox ways and then getting to some tempo or some empty that puts more pressure on the Jets defense. Yeah, you mentioned the big play that that sixty five yeard touchdown past the mac Holland's last time around was basically
the turning point of that game. I think Miami kind of cranked it up defensively after that, even more so offense found their kind of rhythm and efficient seat from an efficiency standpoint as well. So great stuff. And my key to the game was, like you mentioned earlier, getting the Jets into third and long, and that's going to be an opportunity for Miami to cash in on some of those splash plays if they can get to that with some early down success against the run. Let's go
ahead and return back to the mail bag here. This one from at two Lucky nineteen sixty seven has a couple of offensive line questions for us, asking about where guys might align heading forward. We're the best position for guys like Liam Eichenberg are for Austin Jackson? Where do you think those two guys play their best ball at John And then that also he wants to know about what you think about Solomon Kinley having a rookie season where he played so much and then not really at
all this year and going forward for those guys. So I guess Liam, Austin and Solomon Kinley, what's your outlook there for those guys, well, let's start at the end there with Solomon Kinley. That's kind of a surprise to me. And the only thing I can think of is that injury at the guard position really hasn't happened, and you're not going to get a whole lot of pads repped
during the season. So if you don't make your mark early in training camp or in a preseason game, or be able to continually be consistent at what your craft is, unless injury occurs at your position or just just complete failure, you're not going to get another opportunity. And I think that's kind of the bucket that solom Ackinley has fell into in his second season. He hasn't had an opportunit entity to unsee guys that are playing at the position now or being changed in the position because of of
lack of reps. But he didn't do enough early to kind of say, hey, we have confidence in you going into your second season. Um, where guys play, I think they're getting a handle on that right now. It's tough for me to say, because you know, we're not out of practice all the time, We're not kind of kind of seeing guys in individual drill, move into team drill and feel like I know where the best spot is.
I think the coaching tap has got a pretty good handle now on maybe moving Austin inside at that left guard position. I think you gotta keep Aikenberg on the on the perimeter for the rest of the year to to kind of keep that synergy with that offensive line moving forward. I don't know if if Robert Hunt is better inside or outside. It seems like you'd like to get maybe one more in this year's draft or free agency to kind of solidify the offensive line, and maybe
that position is at at tackle. I don't know how they're gonna go moving forward on the outside, but you you want to strengthen the depth if you can so. I think Jesse has done a pretty admirable job being switched around earlier now getting anchored in on the right side. But I think there's gonna be probably be some change
in the off season. But where they have guys now, I think they're pretty much slotted in, not only for the rest of the season, but unless you get a difference maker either in draft or free agency, those guys are gonna kind of be locked in where they're at. Yeah, it makes a lot of sense, and that flexibility certainly helps. And you know, I'm really glad that Michael Dieter, just
his entire season sands the injury. Of course, you hate to see that, but I think it can be one of the most instructive things here for Dolphins fans to look at. And it basically applies to Solomon Kinley, to a guy that played pretty much his entire rookie season almost never sees the field. You almost kind of forget about those guys when they don't get on the field
on game day, you know. His second year and then in year number three, I think Michael Dear has been very good, and I think that's very instructive for how offensive line play can kind of grow and develop and progress.
We've talked on this podcast before, John about how it's harder to come into the NFL at that position these days and produce right away because the college game, and it's catching up in the NFL here a little bit, but the college game is so much different in terms of tempo and pace, and we're more concerned about getting on the ball than we are about getting finishing our block right. We want to get tempo and get up to the on the line scre image and let's go
go and maybe that kind of changes things. You've got more vertical sets there in college football, just all the different things that occur at that level. And so I look at that like it's year one for a lot of these guys, year two for some of them, Like they need some time to grow and develop and get that seasoning, especially for these young guys that just didn't play a ton of football in college, like an Austin Jackson missed the entire season, or whatever the case may be.
So we're on the same page. Go ahead, you know, Travis, to your point about that, you know, Michael Dieter was a huge surprise, I think for all Dolphin fans this year, being able to be inserted in O T A S, be inserted in training camp as the number one center. He took advantage of that situation and it was only injury that you know, kept him out, and then when he got it back, he seems to you know, not
miss a beat. Solomon Kinley kind of had that opportunity early in O T A S early in training camp, but it went went back and forth, and maybe he didn't just didn't seize that opportunity consistently enough, and that's why you see the unsettling with his situation Compared to your point in Michael Dieter. No, it's a great point.
And to your point about Dieter, he never relinquished that thing, and that was something I think that you know, you just you scroll social media, whatever the case may be. I think folks expected at some point someone to come in and take that job, and he just said, no, it's not gonna happen. It's it's my job. I'm gonna play the best ball here, and he certainly has. I
want to go ahead and finish up. That was a great discussion there, John, with a question that goes away from the actual football team, it's more towards you and I. It's from at Dolphin Robble One. His question is do you guys feel pressure? You and John, do you guys feel pressure to be positive? You're reporting? I know both of you seem to have a positive outlook and stay away from criticism of certain players or of players rather, But I just wanted to know if that was from
any sort of team direction. So I'll throw it to you first. John. I've got my answer here that I've I've talked about this a million times, but you can go ahead and go first. Listen. I think this is my thirteenth year officially like working for the Dolphins and have covered him probably another seven years before I started working for them. So I never felt pressure by any head coach, any assistant coach, any person in management, team owner.
I don't know what other senior title would be coming after me with my commentary, but whichever one, I've never felt any any pressure. Um And I think it's I'm a I'm a positive optimistic person, I think. But in general, and when you've played the position or you've played the sport, you always have a bit empathy for the people that are trying to do it because you know their best intentions are what they're trying to do. They're not trying
to screw up there, trying to be perfect. And I always try to remember that when I'm raining down some criticism on Wow, he's got to catch that ball, or he's got to make that completion, or he's got to kick that ball in bounds, whatever the case may be. So you're always trying to put a positive spin on it. But you all also know that this is a video uh, media, right, this is you. You actually can see it as a fan on TV, you can hear it on the radio.
You have to be able to tell the truth at some point, but you can do it in a way that just always doesn't beat up the player. I think sometimes you have to be very straightforward and critical, but you can always do it with some kuther or with some tact and some professionalism that doesn't always have to take the baseball bat and beat people over there. That's
perfectly stated. I love that. And you know, I could do probably a week's worth of podcast on just this topic, to be honest with you, because, like I said, I get asked all the time about that. But I've got four things I want to touch on here real quick. Number one is that I am not gonna sit here and talk like I am smarter than the people that get paid to make the decisions on the football field. I'm just doing the podcast, man, Like this is my opinion.
I studied the game a lot. I try to understand as much as I can what's going on. But like when I go have a chance to talk to the assistant coaches on Tuesdays, for instance, that is education for me. I am not. I just want to take up and soak up as much information as I can. And so Number one is, if they're gonna say something, I'm going to really that message because they are the ones that
know what's going on better than anybody else. Number two, you mentioned this as well, about being positive and optimistic to me, you know, I still I'm a huge fan of this game and of this team, even as a professional, and I think I do. I think I do a good job of separating the two. But I'm not gonna watch ball to be miserable, Like this is an entertaining escape for me. And the only way I know how
to be a fan is to have fun. Like if you watch football to not have fun, all all the power to you, but I don't know what you're doing, Like it's all about fun for me. Number three, and you know, this is something I actually talked to Omar Kelly about recently, is that even on bad football teams, not saying this one is we've had some in the past, Even on bad football teams, there's always going to be
something good to talk about. Twenty nineteen, you know, I talked about plenty of players I thought were having good seasons that year, DeVante Parker had a breakout yere Christian Wilkins showed some flashes in his rookie season. Nick Needon was a great story. There's always things to talk about in any football season if you look hard enough, and the number four you talked about it as well. We do call a spade a spade, but we're not gonna stay here and blow smoke up your rear end like
we I've talked about it. I've talked about when the protection wasn't good, when TWA has a bad throw, when a running back miss is a read, or whatever the case may be. We talked about it. So there's a line of credibility. But also I think it's just inherent to who we are as as professionals and fans John that we just want to be positive and have fun
because that's what it's all about ultimately. Yeah, I mean, if you're not having fun covering sports and being involved in it, then you gotta find something else to do. And this has been fun, uh covering the the way this team has kind of hit its highs and hit its flows and and found its way back this season. And I'm just hoping they can continue out and run the string and run the gamut of games, because now I think not only you and I, but the rest of the Dolphin fandom are going to be in a
good spot if we can win out. No, I can't say any better than that. Like you said, it's it's all all fun, and if they keep winning, it's even more fun for us. So John, you said it all, my friend, and we're gonna see you again back at hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, hopefully to make us six straight. Thank you again so much for your time. We'll see you Sunday, John, see you on Sunday, see on game day. Had a great time and I look forward to another
Dolphins win. Yes, sir, let's go and there he goes, always a good time on the write a podcast there with John And how about that he knows the folks that took it to tah on the pickle ball court and got a chance to watch him play some golf as well from a distance there. So good inside are reporting there from John con Jemmy with QB one on the golf course and the pickle ball court. Let's do a few more questions from y'all. This one comes in
from at Grinding the tape. You guys might know Kyle Crabs, what time are you heading down to the lunch buffet on the U, S, S, D M T P. Can I sit with you of course every time? And congrats on your season ticket membership, Kyle. I'm not sure if you announced that yet. I don't think you have to announce it on your podcast. I'm sure you'll talk about it, but I can't wait to have you down here every home game next year. Man, congrats on becoming a Dolphins
season ticket member. That's awesome. And let's get some lunch down in the calf here in the mess hall, the chow hall, whatever the heck it's called. Hearing about a half hour. Next question here from Let's go ahead and go to Morgan Lewis at MO Underscore Lou twenty and he asked about an offensive line question for the off season. UM, I'm just gonna I just want to acknowledge your auction. Morgan.
Let's go ahead and push those off until the season is over, Okay, I don't want to get there until this season's brands course, having a bunch of fun with this team right now, let's come back to that. We have all winter to discuss that stuff, So I appreciate the question. We're gonna push it off to a future podcast. Okay, next one here from Wade Trip at Wade Trip one on Twitter. What's your take on god sees growth as
offensive coordinator? Well, of course, he and Eric Studisville. I think the entire collaboration of the Dolphins offensive game planning has really come a long way. And John and I discussed that in the kind of Bruce arians Peyton Manning
and John's perspective about familiarity within a system. I think you're seeing all of it kind of develop as you would hope it would, as the coaching staff and the and they their message for the players that you want to get better and play your best football in December. To me, the game plans continue to get better, the wrinkles continue to be more frequent, the tendency breakers continue to be more frequent, and a little bit harder for
the defense to deal with. That They're giving their quarterback and the receivers and their playmakers, you know, an opportunity to do what they do best, and you know, complement in the offensive line in terms of the quick game as well. That helps them in the running game. Helps them just gain confidence without the course of the game, like John touched on, So I think it's been really good so far, and if they can keep that progression going, that would be really exciting to see the rest of
this season and in the next year as well. This next question from at Lanston Russell, what did you think of your first season watching Formula One? Also your thoughts on the final lap controversy. Oh boy, First of all, I love it. The first thing is I wish the America's races were in the spring and summer, and the European and and the Middle Eastern races were more during the football season because when those races run at noon or you know, twelve thirty, I can't watch them, so
it's hard to watch those crucial races. I was so happy that we had the bye week on the final race, the championship race in Abu Dhabi. As far as that final lab controversy, I think it was complete bs. They change the rules mid rate, and I understand the idea of wanting to have a more exciting finish and it certainly did that. And Drive to Survive is gonna be great because of it. And now the F one is gonna have even more people buzzing and talking about it.
My favorite part about that race on Sunday was all the people saying, I guess I have to be an F one fan now, which tells me that they were looking at their timeline and everybody else was talking F one. That's awesome. Let's go F one Go Team McLaren go, Daniel Riccardo, my favorite team and my favorite driver. He's by far my favorite driver. But anyway, I do support Lewis Hamilton. I think he's an awesome ambassador of the sport, just an awesome person in general, all the things that
he believes in. I think he got jobbed. I really do to to not to let those cars unlap themselves and get Max right behind him after. You know, he basically built up that lead the entire race and then to just take it away for no reason. I didn't understand that other than the idea of making the finish more fun. I asked our guy, Hero, our our photo manager here from Miami Dolphins dot com and does a great job on so many things. Helps with the podcast
as well, some of the audio and the video. You see. He he's a big F one fan and he I asked him, why can't they just do the the safety car and not count the lapse towards the race, and he told me, because I'm not very smart when it comes to this, they have a certain amount of gas in the car that runs out Travis, they they can't do That's like, oh yeah, good calls. That makes sense. So I thought it was I understand why they did it, but it wasn't fair for Lewis and I would be
I rate if I was him personally. Next question here from at f EAZ FAZ forty three seventy five. Is there a chance we see mac Hollands more involved in the offense down the stretch. It's gonna be a broken record here for you, Jason, but it's game plan specific, man opponents specific. He's been a very big, heavily involved factor both in the running game, in the red zone, obviously on special teams. I think that his role just
depends on what you get from the opposing defense. I mean, if you're gonna be in that twelve personnel package and you want to go big so you can run the football, but also have the option for asking with he and DeVante Parker and Mike get Sicki and Derma Smith on the field. Those are your trees, right. That's a good opportunity for him to see the football field and get some chances there. And then he's filled in so admirably.
When you know Preston's down, DeVante's down, Will Fullers down, he comes off the bench and makes plays for this offense. I think the role they have for right now is working very well. Could he get some more sure and if he does, I expect him to step up and fulfill that role like he has done all seasons so far for this Miami Dolphins team. So let's go ahead and get the rest of these and the written mail bag up on Miami Dolphins dot com on Friday afternoon.
I really appreciate you guys putting these questions out there for us. It helps us has It helps us with the content, and also I want to hear from you guys. I want to hear what you want to hear us talk about. So we appreciate that. Let's go ahead and finish up here with our NFL picks for week number fifteen. We'll see what happens on Thursday night. I picked the Chiefs over the Chargers. The rest of the schedule, I'm going with the Raiders over the Browns. Give me the
Patriots over the Colts. Although that one, I am fifty are two good football teams. I can't wait to watch that on Saturday night. Give me the Dolphins over the Jets, the Bills over the Panthers, the Cardinals over the Lions, Cowboys over the Giants. I think Philadelphia gets on top of Washington for that. W Pittsburgh and Tennessee. That's another
tough one that's really close for me. I'm gonna take Pittsburgh because of the fact that I think they're at home and it's a ten day rest after playing on Thursday night against Minnesota, and they're also really endure die mode there for Pittsburgh. Give me the Texans over the Jaguars. Give me the Bangals over the Broncos. Another big game here in the a f C. I'll take the Niners over the Falcons, the Rams over the Seahawks, and the Packers over the Ravens, Bucks over the Saints, and the
Vikings over the Bears on Monday night football. So that's the podcast for me. Appreciate you guys putting the questions out there for us.
