Finn's Flashback on the Drivetime Podcast. We're also going to get the injury latest here John Conjemmie's Three Keys to the Game. All of that and much much more on this Friday, October sixteenth edition of the Drivetime Podcast. Time is brought to you by Auto Nation. There are so many reasons to drive Pink, but for Auto Nation, there's only one to finish the fight against cancer. In fact, Auto Nation has helped raise over twenty five million dollars
to drive out Cancer. To join the fight, visit the Auto Nation store near you or drive pink dot com. Today, let's go ahead and jump right into John Kjemmi's three keys to victory on Sunday against the New York Jets. We talked if John every Sunday night on the Recap podcast and and cover his keys to the game on the Friday edition here of Drivetime. His first one is
building early momentum. Talked about getting off to a fast start is where this Dolphins team has really thrived through five games so far, fourteen point leads in the first quarter of both those victories. It will be imperative for Miami to get off to that fast start quickly. Here
again against the New York Jets. And he makes an interesting note here that says it's not just about the explosive plays on offense or a turnover on defense, but he can find a way, Brian Flores cam to get a fast start through discipline, getting off to a clean start. The Dolphins have been very good this year in this area and that trend needs to continue. He says they're one of the least penalized teams in the NFL, committing just twenty three penalties through five games for a total
of one yards. Number two, Stay aggressive, keeping the pressure on the Jets Sunday is where this team wants to live.
A pass first mentality on offense that opens up the run game and screen game seems to create more room for the Dolphins offense to operate now, he said, he realizes you can't start every game with Fitzpatrick dialing up Preston Williams for forty seven yards, but with the running game averaging three point seven yards per carry, John writes, the Dolphins seemed to get the most success in the running game after the passing game has put the defense
on their heels a little bit. So starting fast and staying aggressive, and the third key for John in this game is to make the Jets one dimensional. Stopping the run, or at least slowing it down, should be a priority every week for a defense, and that's no difference this week facing the Jets playing without Arguably they're two best players on the roster, John Rights and quarterback Sam Donald
and running back Levy on Bell. Those two vacancies will be hard to overcome for an offense that has scored twenty points just one time this season and as O and seven since Sam Donald was drafted when he is not in the lineup. So those are your three keys. You can find those up on Miami Dolphins dot com. And before we get into my interview with former Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown, before we get to Juice and
Seth from the Fish Tank Podcast. On this edition of Drive Time, brought to you by Auto Nation, let's go ahead and get the Dolphins and Jets Friday injury report, the last report before game day on Sunday for your Miami Dolphins. Three players listed as questionable. That's it. We have other players on the list, but they do not have a game's tatus designation as they were all full
participants on Friday's practice. We have defensive and Shack Lawson, tight end Durham Smith, and linebacker Kyle van Ney all questionable after being limited on Friday for the visiting New York Jets. To players listed as doubtful for the game McKay, Beckton, and Sam Donald, and then five players listed as questionable for the New York Jets, cornerback Blessed Austin, defensive lineman John Franklin Myers, offensive lineman Alex Lewis, wide receiver Brashad Perriman,
and defensive lineman Quinnin Williams. So that's it for the latest on the Miami Dolphins. Check out all the recent content up on Drive Time, the Fish Tank Podcast, the Audible Podcast. Plenty of content for Sunday's game at home against the New York Jets. But for now, let's go ahead and flash this thing back to two thousand nine, when the Miami Dolphins took down the New York Jets on Monday Night Football behind two touchdowns from Ronnie Brown.
Let's go ahead and welcome in now. Ronnie Brown and writing Shotgun Now on the Drive Time Podcast, is the former number two overall pick number twenty three. He spent six years in Miami, the focal point of the Wildcat himself. He is Ronnie Brown. Ronnie, Welcome in man. I appreciate having it's good to be here. I appreciate it. Yeah, it's it's cool, A good a chance to talk to you. I've been doing a few of these lately with guys like Chris Chambers and Channing Crowder, all the guys that
I had jerseys of growing up. So it's always fun to talk to you guys, man, Yeah, it's always good. And I obviously got good companies, so um. You know, those guys were two of the teammates that I really enjoyed hanging around, and you know, really good players as well. Yeah. I really enjoyed the stories you had with Channing Crowder on the fish Tank about you know, going from the swamp to the club and just changing the shirt out the old backyard or the back of the car closet. Man,
that story kills me every time. Yeah, Man was probably one of the most most low maintenance guys that I've been around with, really most genuine guys that I've probably been around, and really good friends. And you know, we had some really good times, you know, from from that time from going to practice to the club to you know, other various activities that we got involved with. But yeah,
we definitely had a good time. It's too funny. Yeah, I feel that genuine that love from him to like I'll see him in the press box like last year, for instance, and he's like, Hey, what's up, man, how you doing? So he treats everybody the same, That's what you love about him. But Ronnie, these days, what are you up to? Man? I know you're you're playing career ended a few years back. What are you doing in the post NFL career? Yeah? Man, so I am transitioned
into life. Um, you don't have a family, Um, trying to be dad, trying to be husband and do the best at that. But um, outside of that work related, you know, I work in UH as a professional management and professional management as a financial advisor. UM. Really enjoyed that, you know, and that really came about just through my experiences as a player and seeing some of the guys around me. So I'm really excited about that part as well. I've got a five month old Ronnie. Any advice for
a new dad? Um? You know, there's really no template for for it. Um, it's really just you know, taking it as it comes. And I think has been UH A life lesson for that is you know, being able to adjust and you know, having a plan, but having a backup plan for the plan. I think that's really just the key of it. And you know, really being one of those versatile people that really get um too many? Mercy? Do that really? The uh? I guess where are you
out too much? Yeah, and then they'll certainly test your your patients and your university. That's that's for sure. I had a kid and moved across the country all this year, so been a crazy But we're gonna go back now to two thousand nine, the Monday night victory over the New York Jets. I'll never forget that game, Ronnie. It was. It was intense from start to finish. You know, Rex Ryan and those Jets teams were very brash, They were very abrasive. They told you how they felt, and they
usually didn't feel very good about your opponent. Was that rivalry do you think? Because like for me as as a fan growing up, that was like peak Dolphins Jets. And obviously some fans are gonna say, well, you weren't around for the eighties, but man, did you guys just get cranked up for that game? An extra gear or what? Well? Yeah,
it was an exciting game. And obviously when you talk about Rix Ryan and his mentality, um, the attitude of his football team, um, you can see from the leadership they were gonna be a It's gonna be a hard fall game. But they were you know, I I think an aggressive bunch, but then they were confident minded bunch
as well. UM. And so for us, you know, I share that same to to men, you know, and so I'm up for a challenge, UM, and I like those type of environments and so, UM, you know, I think during that time our football team we were up for that challenge. UM. And you know, I think as our mentality, we had some older guys, but just from you know, we're here to fight, and so I think we shared that. That Monday night game was a reflection of that, um,
because it was gonna be a hardball game. But at the end of the day, you know, we were gonna welcome that and we were gonna you know, match that same type of intensity. And you guys obviously had a pretty old school coach in your own right there, and Coach Tony Sperranto rest in peace to coach Tony. Uh did he kind of help match that mentality and kind of set that you know, we're gonna be kind of quiet in our conference and go about it that way.
Oh absolutely, you know, Um, Coach Bernto was probably one of my favorite coaches. It's not my favorite coach UM going throughout my career in football, UM, not just in professional level. UM, because he's a big time boxing fan, he's a big time competitor. But he's a person who really embrace his relationship. And so I think we all, you know, responded to that because we all had a
deep relationship. When you have a coach, a leader, someone who really exemplifies, you know and trying to express it that they want to see you do well, not just in sports, but in life. He was that type of person and that makes you want to run through a
wall for a guy like that. But you know, there were nights, Saturday nights we watched before the game, we watched boxing clips of guys that were just really willing to go the distance and whatever it was took or whatever it took, UM, And I think that was his mentality. And so you know, sharing that with him, UM it really meant a lot. Yeah, that's a really cool note. You just don't get without doing these types of podcasts.
That's why we love to have this this inside information on on stories like that, kind of behind the scenes. You talk about running through a wall. I'll never forget Two thousand eight after that game against the Jets, the week seventeen victory. That's your gray hat. I will never forget that, Ronnie. That was the best. Yeah, man, it was. It was exciting, man. And you know, for me, a
country kid um out of Northwest Georgia, cartis Ville, Georgia. UM, you know, we believe in work and even just through all over Uh. You know, we had an old school uh strength and conditioning coach and Kevin YAsO who you know, his thing was, I believe in work. I believe in hard work and so you're only going to get out of life what you put into it. And so that was just my mentality and the way I approached football, um,
you know. And it's so weird because as I see people after my career, they're like you, so, you know, kind of maud mannered and you know, that's just not the same mentality. But between those lines, it's a total different approach, um, you know, and so you just got to approach it that way, you know that. You know, for me, when I was carrying the ball, I was a bigger guy. So my whole thing was I need to get them before they get me. And you know,
I think that carried over. Yeah, you had to play in two thousand seven against the Raiders and that was a tough year for the team, and obviously you would would end up injuring your knee that year and missed the rest of the season, But you had to play where you dropped a shoulder on a guy at the goal line and ran him over and buried him six ft deep there on the playing surface at Dolphin Stadium
of the time. That was my computer desktop background for a long time was that someone got a great shot of you just burying that dude. So we loved that approach you had. It really it really meshed well with the Dolphins and the kind of heating humidity down here to kind of grind teams out. But the game we're gonna talk about on this podcast is the year after the Wildcat the division championship season, I should say, the two thousand nine Monday Night against the New York Jets,
and we talked about the gray hat. You guys were also wearing orange uniforms in that game. Did you guys care, like was it different for you to have an alternate uniform? Like did that stuff matter to you guys at all? Um? You know, it's funny enough that it does. UM, I enjoyed. I think most guys, you know, football related, Uh, there're a few guys that don't really care. Chen is probably one of those guys that he just wanta goes down. He want to go out and play the game. It
doesn't matter what uniform. He's just a hard nosed guy. And you know that's the way it approaches you. But you know, I try to approach it the same way. But I I like the uniform thing. And you know, the orange jury was probably my favorite. UM. I wish we would had it gotten, would have gotten a chance to wear more UM. And so you know, I really enjoyed that. I tried to match the orange jersey with
the orange cleats. Those were actually soccer cleats. Did I wore that game, and so that was one of the reasons I had to stat up up because they were a little bit lower. Um. You know, so I had to get a little bit more ankle support. But I really enjoyed those jerseys. Well, I think it worked for you just scored a pair of touchdowns in the game, and we start the game off with a touchdown drive capped off by yours truly or by you, I should say,
not yours truly, but you start that drive. I think there was thirteen and a half minutes to go, so very early in the game in that first quarter, and you had to touchdown past to Anthony Fazzano back in two thousand eight on a Wildcat little roll out there, but you hit another one in this game to get that game going. What were your thoughts coming out of the huddle when you knew the play call was for number twenty three to put the ball up in the air.
You know, I was excited, um, anytime we went into that formason. It was an opportunity, uh, to really kind of showcase talent. I never played quarterback before. Actually grew up a really big baseball fan. I'm a huge brave and um, and so you know, for me, getting to throw the ball play quarterback on that level was really exciting, and so you know, I didn't want to mess it up.
That was the initial thought when we first got in the Wildcat, you know, in two thousand and eight, but you know, just giving that opportunity, Um, obviously the coaching staff believed in me, and so I really just want to go out and put my best foot forward, and it was an opportunity and I had a chance to make a play and fortunately for me, you know, I was able to do that. Did did throwing the ball
left handed always catch somebody off guards. I feel like when someone sees a receiver or a running back or any non quarterback when they throw a left handed everyone's like, oh, I don't know that guy was left handed. I think it did. And I think that was a big surprise because I am left handed naturally, um you know, from growing up, and so being able to roll out to my left and throw a pass, I think we kind of got a chance to catch a lot of guys
off guard. There aren't too many, um, left handed quarterbacks, and so for me being a running back and then you know, being able to roll out to the left side, I think that was really unexpected. And a lot of big plays in this game did come out of that wildcat package, some from you and some from Ricky Williams. And we talked about the fish tank appearance a while back. You know, you got You've talked a lot about what you and Ricky meant to each other in that backfield
and how you guys kind of work together. But in this game. He had some big plays, You had some big plays. What was it about Ricky that really helped make that package really excel and take it to the next level. Man, I think that the big thing. Like anything else, it's it's relationship. When you talk about success and any team scored, any team at activity, any business, it all comes down to relationship and respect for one another. And so outside of the game, Ricky was one of
you know, the guy that I was close to. I had a lot of respect for his game, the way he approached the game, the way he went through practice, um, and so our relationship was pretty close. And so you know, for us, we as a room, a running back room, we took pride in the opportunity to get three sometimes four running backs on the field at the same time. And so um in doing that, we wanted to really
be successful. Um and so um you know the relationship that we say between Ricky and myself and then we had a loose soccer polite. We had Patrick Cobbs. You know, we also had kind of uh Lex Hilliard. You know, so for us to be able to get in the game at the same time, it meant a lot um. And you know, in our coach, coach James Saxon, he took pride in that as well. And so somebody having someone to believe in you, I think that makes you
want to do better a little bit more. And so um, when we hit the field anytime to go through that formation, we wanted to make shire it was the best that we could do. And unfortunately, I think in two thousand eight we actually set the bar kind of high, um because everyone expected a touchdown or a big play out of that formation. But you know, we really just took pride and then it was all relationship and respect that we had in our room. I love the mention of
Patrick Cobbs and Alex Hillier to loosccer Polite. I recall Patrick Cobb got loose for a touchdown against the Texans, not two thousand and eight season. He was wide open all by himself. You mentioned Loos Soccer Polite. He had a great that that year, eight year where he converted every single third down except for one, and the one that he didn't he picked it up on fourth down, so he you know, third and one, fourth one he
was automatic. And you know, talking about scoring touchdowns again, you opened the game with a touchdown and you had a little celebration that was the same one you did at the end of the game as well, a little hop up and down. Can you tell us about that? Yeah, man, I just that was like, you know, when you think of a dolphin out of water, that was kind of like what came to mind, and so, um, you know, that was the celebration, and it just kind of happened.
I never really was one of those guys who celebrated a lot, but I mean just in that moment um, it just kind of came to me. And you know, I was thinking about a dolphin out of water and Funday night game an opportunity. We're in the Orange Jersey, had a lot of attention on us, and so uh,
you know, I just wanted to do something. And it was really just looking at the linement and I'm like, yeah, like we scored, and you know, trying to get those guys excited because at the end of the day, they don't get a lot of you know, they don't receive a lot of awards and accolades for what they do, but you know, they put a lot of time and commitment in and so I just wanted to celebrate with
those guys. That's that's awesome. My brother is gonna love to hear that because he's speculated that's what you were doing way back then, and here we are eleven years later we found out that is in fact the truth. Awesome, awesome little nugget there. And so you know that was your celebration you talked about you weren't much of a guy for celebrating. Was there a specific player or maybe a specific celebration you saw that you thought was the
best you'd ever seen? Man? You know what I as I watched like Chad Johnson and someone like Reflection on you know, him being on the thing with Brandon mars So and you know, I think there their players podcast. Uh, you know, I think he had some really good celebrations. Um. They were really thoughtful and but it brought a lot of fun to the game when you look at how
he approached the game. You know, we all start playing this game and because of the love of the game, uh, the energy that we shared, the opportunity to escape some of our reality easy. Um. And so you get a chance to be a kid, even when I was an older guy in the league. You know, you still get a chance to be like a kid. And so seeing the celebrations t o U, Chad Johnson. Guys like that, Um, you really got excited, even if you weren't a guy
who really celebrated. UM, that really you kind of connected with that part of the game. Absolutely. Chad Johnson, he was must watch TV. I remember one year for a season opener, he hyped up his celebrations so much and it turned out to be that he busts out a gold jacket, the Hall of Fame jacket, and ward after his touchdown. He was always so much fun to watch in that way. Another receiver that we saw score in this game was Ted Gain on a deep pass going
up against vs. Island and that was when No. One beat revs and he goes up top for fifty three yards on a touchdown. Do you recall that play and what can you tell us about it? I do, um Man, You know, I think to think about it because three Rivers was such a great player. Obviously everyone remembers previous Island uh, but the caliber player, the caliber of player that he was. But then when when I saw Ted again come in and I was like, man, this guy's
fast like no other fast. Um. And so you know the ability that he had as well, it wasn't a surprise. And I think a lot of times the speed by the time you realize how fast he was, sometimes it was too late. And you know, I think for him to be able to get on top of you know, the guy like the rail reevis, it wasn't a surprise, But I think it was more of a surprise for Derail because the guy was running really fast. Um, and I mean his talent, you know, he's still been around.
He did a really good job being in the league for a long time. Um, you know, a talented guy, Um from high school all the way through his Ohio State careers, and so he did a really good job for us Man and he did really well in the return game. But you know, um, Tail was a talented guy, but really really fast and so um when he got on top, it really wasn't a surprise. Yeah, I mean he's still playing today. Tells you about the kind of skill set, in the kind of durability and longevity he has,
you know, still going right now. So that play kind of sparked the late scoring. In the late drama of this game, the Jets come back down score the following drive and then you guys get the football with one last chance, it's touchdown or die. At that point, what was the mindset and the mood and the huddle on that potential game winning drive? You know, like we said earlier, I mean it all came from Tony Sperranto. Um, you know his mentality. Um, that boxes mentality. Um. You know,
you always have a fonser's chance. And so as long as we have the ball, we got an opportunity to score. And you know, for me, I welcome that challenge. M But being a team player, I had confidence in any guy that was going to get the ball in that situation. And so luckily when it came down to it, we were at the goal line situation. UM. You know, I I knew I was going to get an inzo on that play. Uh, you know, because there was no other
opportunity or no other chance. Um. And so that was the approach to it, like we just got to get in the zone and that's what it is. Yeah. I
just pulled the highlight up and watched that. It's funny you mentioned that because it was third in goal, you guys had no time outs and there was nine or tens and slept on the clock and they call a running play like if you get tackled short of the goal line, that's it, right, Yeah, And so I mean and and that's another thing like as a competitor, as a player, when your coach has the utmost uh confidence in you, it makes you, like I said, want to do uh better even more because you want to make
sure you create and you have that result that's expected. And so when you expect greatness, then you're not surprised by success. And you know, giving me the opportunity to get the ball in that situation, not having any time about only having a few seconds on the clock. If we don't get in, that's the game situation. Uh yeah, I mean that. That just says a lot about the coach and how he believed in you know, not just myself but our officeive line and what we were able
to accomplish on that play. There was a big time conversion, a big time when there is nothing better than beating the Jets, and the only thing better than beating the Jets is being them on prime time for a fans perspective, at least, did you guys, did players care more about prime time games? Was a little more charged up or was it just another game? Um? You know, I think at the end of the day, it's just another game. But when you get out there, you do realize. I
mean we're playing Monday night, were playing Sunday night. You know, I think those games where you realize there's no other games gone, And so I mean giving giving that part of it. You know everyone's watching, um, you know at at home. Uh. You know, as a player, you also realized to like family, friends, everyone is to get an opportunity to see you because you're on prom tom TV. And so just with that in mind, you want to
do your best. You always want to do your best, but you know that puts a little emphasis on that because I mean, everybody gets a chance to see you know you do what you do and uh, you know, there's no better feeling than that. Fins flashback here on the Drivetime podcast, I've got Ronnie Brown. You had four thousand, eight hundred and fifteen career yards with the Dolphins, thirty six rushing touchdowns as a member of Miami. Ronnie, really appreciate your time today. Man, thanks for going back to
two thousand nine with us. All right, thank you. So there he goes Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown talking about that two thousand nine victory over the New York Jets on Monday Night football in the Orange Jerseys. A great way to flash things back. And what better way to flash things back than to go back with our boys from the fish Tank Podcast. Seth and Juice welcome them in here to the Drivetime podcast to talk about Dolphins
and Jets. Because it is Jets weak, baby, and on the topic of flashbacks, let's go ahead and welcome in the co host of the fish Tank Podcast. They are Seth Levitt, Oh j McDuffie. Let's go ahead and start here first with you, Seth. You guys had Bart Scott on recently. I want to just go right into that because it's Jets weak. It doesn't get any better than Bart Scott with trash talk in Jets weak. So what's up? Juice? What's up? Seth? Seth, go ahead and start us off
with with Bart Scott. What like what? Just give us some takeaways from that one. Oh man, there's a lot to take away. I think we had to. First of all, I think Dolphins Nation was kind of scratching their heads a little bit when we started to promote that one, Travis. But as he said, it is Jets Week, Bart is fantastic. He's an amazing interview. People haven't listened yet. Uh, And I know there's a lot of trepidation, but one say
dive in. I mean, it really was as wild of a ride as we've had since Crowder was in the tank. And and but Bart Bart gave us a little bit of everything. He gave us some craziness, he gave us some hilarity. Uh. He also gave us some some really great football exits and nose breakdown, which I know you love, Travis. Um.
And he talked a little bit about the rivalry. And so I think that that was everything that we needed heading in the Jets week and to get us on edge because we need to be on edge regardless of the records. You know, we were talking about it before the show. It doesn't matter what the records are. When the Dolphins and the Jets play, we know what it's gonna be like. We know we gotta be fun. Security doesn't matter if it's ten thousand fans or sixty thousand
fans in the stadium. Um, you know this is these are always big games. Yeah, I think that was one of the fun things about playing us it. Yet you know, playing against him was one thing. But looking up in the stands in the twenty yard line about four rows up or the thirty yard line about you know, on third level, you know, seeing some of the fights going on, you know, and it was like it was it was always something going on, some type of brawl going on. Man,
we hated them when our fans hate each other. And that's why it's when you talk about you know, two and three verses on five, it doesn't matter, like Seth said, Man, it's gonna be it's gonna be a dog fight, and I think that our boys better be ready, especially going into a byeway. It's always tough that I remember seeing a clip from the old Medal Land Stadium where one of the Jets fans had thrown like a hot dog vendor car over the side of the walkway that you
go up to the nosebleed section. And and that's a place where I've heard that Dolphins fans don't want to be on game day because that's where a lot of the met life takeover kind of occurs. Right. But you can get yourself into situation where there's the wrong shade of green next to you. And and I mean you talked about a juice. You've seen some good brawls out there, right, Oh yeah, it's a lot of fun. And it doesn't matter who it is. And it could be you know, teenagers, adults, men, women.
I mean, the fights are just I mean, they're they're great, man. I mean, we can't fight each other on the field, so why not let the fans hash it out and stands, you know, they get after it. And just the only games that I've ever seen where people are getting escorted out of the stadium before called Dolphins. I've seen it. I've seen it here and I've seen it up there. I mean, people are ready for this game. Well, Seth, You've got a good connection here to a guy that
you know, played both sides for one year at least. Um, you know he I was looking at his his his history on Pro Football Reference, goes to Washington for one year, comes back, he's here for that game, the Monday night game. We're talking about the Dolphins victory and the Orange jerseys over the Jets, and you mentioned kind of him learning about Jets fans and the loyalty of the Jets fans and stuff. Did he ever talk more about, you know,
going from Miami to New York? Oh, yeah he did, and probably not as much as I heard about it from O J and and others when that decision was made. And that's that's probably a whole show in and of itself. Travis Um, that was a difficult time for for JT for a lot of different reasons, but he ended up having a wonderful experience, which I think is hard for Dolphin fans to hear. Um he loved playing for Rex Ryan.
I think again Rex, much like Bart. You know, there's guys in this league or who have been in this league who you love to hate, but when they're on your side, you actually really love to be to be around them and with them. And so he had a very positive experience. But he had built an entire career not only hating the Jets but having an incredible rivalry with Jets fans, and so I think that that but that's fun. That's what this is about. Right. You have to have uh you know, if you ever seen was
it unbreakable? With you know, if you have the hero, you have to have the villain, and we need that. That's what makes stories compelling. Um, there has to be that adversity, There has to be that conflict. Jason Cole talked about it when he was in the tank. Juice so and so JT going from you know, much like we're all the wrestling professional wrestling, when the when the hero turns goat, you know, that's always exciting. So, yes,
he's been on both sides of that. But that two thousand nine game that we're talking about now, he had yet to become a Jet. So I don't think at that point in time he could ever found them what it was gonna be like becoming a Jet. And he was just happy to have them down here and being able to mix it up. And I was gonna ask you, Juice, you know that we talked about rivalries. It seems like, you know, I don't want to get on the guys too hard nowadays, but you have the jersey swaps, the
handshakes after the game. Back when you played, It wasn't like that, Red Juice, No, not at all. We didn't hang out in the all season. We didn't hang out before the game, we didn't hang out after the game. You know, I hung out with the Dolphins and that was especially the guys within our division. I would I'm still not cool with any Jets, Patriots, you know, Bills, even the Cults are still in my radar. You know they're not even in our division. Yeah, man, I don't
even mess with them. Man. They I don't like them either, man. So yeah, it's it's too much kumbaya going on around here. I remember Chris Chambers when when Chris Chambers got traded to the Chargers, my Colts animosity was still so strong and leftover. This is like two thousand seven. I was fist pumping when he was catching touchdown passes in the playoffs just to beat the Colt because I still had that animosity towards the team. So I feel that all
the way for sure. And uh, you know, you guys, you talk about having Bart Scott on and the fact that the Wildcat was still very prominent at this time, and especially in that game. Ricky and Ronnie both went off in this game. In fact, Ronnie scored the opening touchdown on the opening drive and the game winner, both out of the Wildcat. And you know, we talked about a little bit off air seth Rex Ryan and Bart Scott, those guys had the answer for the wildcat in Baltimore,
but they didn't have it in New York. Yeah, well they didn't have every They didn't have Ray Lewis in New York. That I mean, they didn't have Bart and they had some they had some good football players. That team ended up having a great season. But as we just said, you know, you throw the records out and and they were here in our house, and it was Monday night football, and the Dolphins historically have always been
very strong on Monday night football. And Andrews you could talk about this something about when you guys put on those alternate jerseys, and so the orange jerseys were out, and it's just a whole different type of energy. And Ricky and Ronnie really did you know, Ronnie got in the end zone he threw in a cock fasano on a on another pass. I think it was passed, but
I didn't realize. You look at Ricky's numbers, I mean, Ricky had a hundred thirty hundred forty uh total arts from scrimmage between you know, you had a fifty something yard catch and and so those guys were really dominant, and I think they set the tone and probably in a lot of ways played the type of football Rex Ryan wanted his offense to play. Uh, and so it
was just really great. It was a really it was a lot of fun to go back and watch that game, and you you forget some of these amazing memories and and so that's why I love these flashbacks and to go back and watch it. And and I can't watch the Jets lose enough. So you know, anytime you want me to go back and watch extra lawting on him, I like that. Yeah, yeah, I'll tell you're right about those those alternate jerseys. Man. You know you're not gonna war him again if you don't go out there and
get a win too. And you know how nice they look, you know, And it's like when we were a throwback, but that was those at Orange when they busted out the Orange Man, that was a special, special jersey. I remember the unvaliated those jerseys. We did it downtown for Lauderdale, and I was able to get one ahead of ahead of schedule. That's right, that's right. So I gotta, I gotta. I've got a JT one, I've got one of my own, I've got a Reno, I've got a bunch of them.
Right now, because I was able to collect a few back then. Man. But like being serious though, those guys, man, they come out here and you get a different pep in your step when you go out there and stuff like that, and you know you've got to go out there and represent. And if you make a statement out there, you better back it up. You know. It's like a boxer coming in the ring and some music and dancing and all this stuff. You better be ready to fight,
you know. And that's what it was like when you had those jerseys on. And I can still see Ricky running that orange jersey, you know, just flying, you know, just flying in that thing. Man, we look faster and orange. It's like, you know, Penn State looks slow and black shoes. We look a lot faster those orange jerseys, man, And
we were, we were flying around that night. I remember Chad Pennington getting upset because it was right around that same time they switched to black cleats for the Dolphins, and he was saying, man, I'm already slow enough. You guys are killing me putting these black cleats on me. It makes me look like I'm stuck in quicksand but you know, just you it's there's a fine lie between the alternate that people get charged up for and the mistake, right because I remember a couple it must have been
almost ten years ago now, Thursday Night football. The Dolphins in the newer uniforms had these all orange pants and socks and jerseys, and people were making fun of them, calling them cream sickles. Someone actually photoshop Jarvis Landry into like a cream sickle, like an actual pop sycle on top of himself. So if you come out and they don't look great, does that have the negative effect? It does? It really does, man. But I think the players don't
they look great? You know, they didn't play great, but yeah, you know it could have a negative effect. And I think that the leaders on that team get us saying some of that stuff. But when they were doing those those those everybody was doing the same color on same color versus each other on Thursday night or some of them, some of them were color rush. The mom were a miss and ours might have been slight bit of a miss. A lot of orange going on right there, a little
too much orange. You need something to break that up a little bit, especially for the color blind folks out there. Remember there was a Bills and Jets game a while back where people said, I don't know who's who because it all looks it all runs together for me, but look a little bit off the rails there. Um, you know, Seth that this game is a four or five kickoff. We had four or five in San Francisco. We also
had the primetime game back in week three. And I'm learning in my rookie season here how much different it is to cover games later in the day. How much did the pr guys because this Monday night game probably didn't get over till midnight. How much was that just a struggle for you guys to stay awake for the whole thing. Yeah, I hated anything but a one o'clock game because we had to get there at the same time, you know, regardless. And so you're just waiting and waiting
and waiting for kickoff, and then it finally happens. And and then you always have one or two writers who think that they're going to get a Nobel Prize at the end of it, and so they're just writing all night long. So you just you don't know that at this point you're already at the not just the party, but the after party. The post games celebration will have you and I'm still in the press box waiting for Jamie Eisenberg to file a story. You know, so and
and and so. They're just their long nights, um And I think, particularly when you're talking about the Dolphins and Jets, the longer folks have to wait until kick off, the more time they have to fill that time with things that are going to get them, get them ready to mix it up out there. And so I think that those later games also make it very challenging for security and everybody else to to kind of manage the situation.
But it does lend to an electric atmosphere. Yeah. Unfortunately this time though, or unfortunately for me as a as a fan now to watch some fights, there's no tail game, so you know, they won't be able to get unless they do it off premise somewhere. Figure it out, right, it's gonna figure and the Jets they're gonna figure it out.
They'll do it all. They'll pull over on turn fight and get it in and then get them into the stadium right well, hopefully after they've already reached their destination exactly. So you guys had Bart Scott in the tank this week, And I would be remiss if I didn't ask you, Juice, who was the best trash talker, the best opponent that you went up against in the Dolphins Jets rivalry. Who was the one guy that were you were saying every single Saturday night, I can't wait to get out there.
What that dude's asked? Oh man, that's a that's a good question. That's probably see for the Jets. They just said, you know, ODIs Smith talked a lot of trash. He's a cornerback opposite I think Aaron Glenn back then, but ODIs Smiths probably burn real for them, you know. And we used to used talk so much trash and him and Lamar Thomas got into it more than anybody they had. They had more conversations than they had plays against each other, I think, and it was it was it was fun
to even listen to some of the stuff. And then Lamar come back to the Hallams like, you know what he just said to me? I was like, no, what he's saying. I want to tell you what some of the things he was saying, Lamar, but it's about his personal life. Um and Uh. Lamar had a lot of personal stuff that Lamar that Otis could have used against him on the football field, and Otis did you know? So he was probably the biggest trash talker that I've seen. Most of the guys out there though. Man, they don't
say anything if you don't say anything. And so I didn't say anything to anybody until they started talking trash and I started cutting them, but inside blocking them, you know, trying to trying to get them at that point. Who wasn't against the Jets? Juice? Were you? Uh? You you have the fair catch? But then you you blasted somebody, You bought somebody out. Yeah, I've done that. I got a couple. I got one Jet and one cowboy that way. I trying to get more people, but they were they
became aware of what was going on. Do that anymore? They take that out. Can't do it anymore. I talked to Mike west Off the other day. Cannot do that anymore. And you can't. You can never call a fair catch and hit anybody. But now you can't even take anybody out if you don't call a fair catch. Just trying to keep the game a lot safer. I love how cavalier the response was on that Jews. Oh Yeah, of course I was out there doing that, just knocking some
guy on their backside. Of different was against the Jets, but the first time I've seen it and it was nice. Yeah. I try to get them, you know, they try to get me, so why not get them back? Absolutely, it works. The offensive got to get their shots and they can, right. I mean, you get a couple of those crackbacks now and then, and like you said, covering punts is a gunner. That's a good way to get your shots in. So you guys had Bart Scott on the podcast this week.
It's in the can. I cannot recommend it enough. As Seth mentioned the X and OS, I mean that enough for me was great. And then you add on that Channing Crowder flair that I like to call it, with the with the extra curricular and trash talking and stuff. So he said Crowder was a watered down version of Right, that's too good. That's why I told you we got to have Channing on and bar On at the same time and let them hash that out together. Right, we can sit back. Yeah, I was gonna say it was
just popcorn. Well, what do you guys gotta come up next week? Well, you can't have barn On calling Greg Camarrio Greg cama zero without giving Greg an opportunity to retort. So so the hero of the two thousand and seven debacle, Greg Camarrio, was diving in. He was a lot of fun. Uh. He had us the first time ever in the history of the Fish Tank. We started an interview on a Tuesday and finished it on a Wednesday because we had
to do that. You know, we had a comment Greg's West coast schedule, So we started about eleven thirty and and uh, it was definitely in the wee hours of the morning by the time we finished the interview. But Greg was really wonderful. Uh. And he talked about Bart and he said that it wasn't the first time he had heard Bart's mouth, but it was the first time he had heard camas zero. So it's a fun one.
And Um, as much as we all like to forget the two thousand seven season, there was something very magical about that play. In overtime, Cleo Lemon to Greg cama Rio and uh, and Gregg talks about how it impacted his life. I think that's a great idea because he left that podcast Bart did by kind of kind of talking trash about not just Cameras Camas zero, but also the one in fifteen season, the celebration after that game,
because I remember Wayne Heizenga crying. I was, you know, as a as a fan, just like, oh, yes, we're not gonna it's not gonna happen to us. That was such a big moment for us. So we look forward to that. Boys. Thank you for your time today, and you guys keep an eye out next week.
