Well I started doing comedy originally in Chicago.

I originally started in Chicago and I went to Atlanta started performing for about a year. Then I moved to New York and I lived in New York for ten years.

Man, I lived and you.

Know when you ain't got no money and you moved to New York, moved to New York. Yeahs, you move to real New York and you live in every borough. I was jumping from every borough, you know. The first city I moved to, I stayed in Manhattan, you know, for a minute. I stayed uptown, and then I moved to Long Island City, Queens, Yeah, Queens. And then I went from Long Island City the flat Bush. I lived on Sterling Bus.

New York. Yeah.

So you know, New York is definitely I have to show all the love the gratitude to New York because.

It's like a boot camp for any entertainer, you know it. That's right.

And I tell people all the time, Man, if you want to go to Hollywood, go to New York first, because it's gonna give you that.

This movie happens.

He had a friend that he was a roommate with a guy in college who really runs ice.

A comic man that's really really good, you know. Uh, let's do an audition with him.

And they had a line of auditions up at the Comedy Store and I did the audition ice.

In Hollywood, right Hollywood. Yeah.

Ice Cube walked up to me, Man said, Man, can you act? I said yeah, I didn't know if I could. I said, oh, yeah, I can act. And we went through the whole auditioning process man, And it lasted for about a month. He was trying to find that next Smokey and Man, I was auditioning with about one hundred and fifty comedians out there.

And did you think he was still trying to get on Chris Tucker as well?

Was that a scare for you or that was just like no.

I mean, I didn't have ship, so I didn't care what was going on, you know what I mean, I didn't you know.

I was like, ship, it's all for nothing right here. You say when he first approached you, it was for the day they roll. It wasn't like it was just replacement. Already turned the role. You know what I'm saying. I was Cube was like, man, fuck Christ you know, I know you was like look glad. Yeah.

So so I auditioned for it, man, and I got the role man, and I never forget, I swear I'll never forget the day that I got the row. And I walked on the set, Man, I was all happy and nice and ship, and with nobody saying ship.

They was all quiet, and I did my first role, I mean your scene.

And when the first scene was over and they said cut, I didn't hear no laughs.

And John Witherspoons was sitting over in the corner looking at the guy they wanted to say bang bang back. Man was saying there looking at me like this.

I said, oh, Ship, I want to talk you many ain't laughing, he said, it ain't time to be funny yet.

Man. By the time it was time to be funny. I came out there and said, man.

This bitch that sprayed my car, You sprayed pimp, you sprayed the play ground.

I was on the pop and I was funny in the movie. It was and they were ten, but you kept clean, kept the.

Mother besides when you got so I just want you to know that for the hood. But that was a cult movie, so people really didn't want to accept nobody else for that role.

They especially for that time Chris Tucker told that ship.
