Together they drink it up with some of the biggest players in music and sports, you know, I mean the most professional unprofessional podcast. This is drink Chip Radar. Every day is New Year's eight, Hey sech we hope it's I'll be this your boy in r What Ups d J e f And this is a
drink Chace motherfucking podcast. Ship my back. I ain't gonna fright you better with the hair or than me. Sprays right. Not right now, we have imagined we have a super duper legend. I want to say he's the first Oakland rapper. I want to say he's the first person because because when I when when I heard out, I found out that he was actually from South Central first, but we wanna get it into that later. But the first person. He's the guy who's single handedly made beat what's my
favorite word? I don't know why. Every time I say I grabbed my collar, I don't know why. Like that, This is how much it is. The HiFi movement, everything derived from this guy. He's the first. He's the on the East Coast, especially in New York. He's the first person that we saluted as the first pimp and rat, the first person that made people bow down, the first
person that made bitch cool. Actually, and he's a motherfucking legend that every promote I ever speak to, I ever talked to, they say Short is the easiest person to work with because he's just coming in there. He's just fitting pimp and let's make a noise working too short. Too Short. First off, let me just thank you man for being a part of this man. You know what I mean. We only interview on Legends. That's what we're doing and too short. He was the first person to
make bitch famous. How did that happen? Well, you know, like you mentioned a minute ago, I did really grow up in the South Central Let's make a noise south. So you know, I gotta get colorful childhood. I've seen it all, you know. So you was gang banging and little in the set. My older brother was banging. But you know, you never keep you real close to it.
So I've been there. You know, all my cousins. We live all over the city, you know, the hood and real real colorful, you know, upbringing, just seeing what was going on in the city, like l A in the early mid seventies, like seventies. And I moved to Oakland right after ninth grade. How was you? I was, I was fourteen, and then you would um, you would think
of California, California, just just moving up the street. But it's it's like it was a totally different It's probably like a kid from New York moving the upstate or something like the difference all moving like Philly or something like. So I get to the Bay, it's a whole different world. It's and it's like it's it's like even more colorful and more out just out there in front of you where you know you. It just got a little more
personal for me. I'm coming up, I'm coming to Let you left South Central at fourteen, so you're like almost almost a grown man, and didn't how you come to the Champion because that's this is the end is like real territorial l A. At that time. It's like, you know, even to this day, it's like from in the inner city. It's like from neighborhood, the neighborhood, the faces that you know, who's running the ship and where you're supposed to be and not supposed to be you hit the wrong block.
Now we're from in the l A. Was that I, oh my god. And when my first cousins on eighty four in Hoover, so just that's just that's but that's not very fucking far away. But it was like it was like two different to travel that there to there. You got to know your motherfucking route because they're gonna take your bike, They're gonna take something if you hit the wrong block. So I get to Oakland and it's not it's not really about the little packs of gangs.
And it's not about blue or red. It's not about the neighborhood so much. It was just like who's getting money, Who's who's However, so, now how far the Oakland was Fillmore Street, because that's that's the first thing I heard about Oakland, Filmore Street, Filmore under that's oakling um uh is that is that when filber in west uh Fillmore is. This is a neighborhood in San Francisco. To Okay, okay, okay, freak that down. Yeah, the Fillmore is a very historical neighborhood.
To Okland has a lot of history. You know, you got different parts of the Bay, the Bay. You look at the Bay like you look at the Five Boroughs in New York. It's different sides of the Bay. Eforting him over there from Vallejo, it's a little town called East pala Altoy got you know, a lot of backbone. It's um. You know, San Francisco got a couple of little neighborhoods over there, Hunter's Point in Filmo and southing Dale. You know, they real reportable neighborhoods. But you know, I'm
from East Oakland. I got mine from the East side. So I show up and I'm just being a sponge man. It's a new place. I'm looking around, you know. I go to Freemount of High School and Ship and it's like I go to school and as a nigger named Frank the Bank who's pimping. He's a twelth grader of pimping. Hold on, let's make some freak. He's pimping and one of his Yeah, one of his hosts go to the school too. Okay, I'm in this city now, I'm like wow.
So it's like this. They got another hop come show up after school every day and picking him and up him and the young how up and they go to work. So it's like it was that type of environment. Man, you got cats riding around like limousines, niggers driving the limousine. If he rolled the back wind of that, it's like five homes back there and then his house and it's not the driver. And that's the first time you're coming from South Central and that's the first time you see
pimp in. And then at the same time, it's like Oakland was a lot different. Man. It was like niggas was doing like car bombs and ship and what do you mean by car bombs, was blowing each other's cars. Why they was at war. They blow car. They chopped your body up and put you in the plastic bag on the side of the right. It was. It was going down. They was doing Mafia ship seventies early. It's
like Felix Mitch. You ever heard of Felix Mitchell. Yeah, but this is not the Spanish gangs, right, No, no, no, this is before us. Just black dudes. This is the mob. They called him something mom too, but it was just it was different than the gang. The Blue and Red people don't know that. UM on the West coast to this day, you got the l A Cats. They went to UM San Diego, UH, Sacramento, Denver, every city, want
to Las Vegas, UM, Phoenix, Arizona. They went to all these cities, Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon, and they converted motherfucker's into being crypton bludds. It's all up and down the west. You never found that ship in the bay. The bay was like, we don't get it, we don't want it. And you know, even though because even the Spanish gangs
they might like fly color, but they ain't bang. They was doing the North and South Ship and it ain't the same science as crypton bloods as l A. Like a lot of cities are like You've got Chicago niggas that go around the way for Chicago and niggas in the Vike's Lords and g ds like thing. You know, it just didn't take to the Bay, blue and Red and all that ship. So I'm just taking this ship
in as this new catnic city. And I started rapping, just working around on the my all, my all, my early raps, like one my ship was like kind of like whatever whatever I was getting from, like sugar Hill Records or something, just that vibe about, you know, the party and ship and all that ship. So I'm wrapping at different people's instrumentals. And the one thing that changed everything for me was when I first heard the message
and I sat there, I'm walking down the street. I remember I had my radio and because I'm listening to this record to I've been bumping hip hop for about three years at the time, and I'm listening to this record and I could clear his day picture New York City because the nigga was described New York at that time, never so I can see New York. We weren't doing videos and Ship. But then you just listen to the music.
So the nigga was giving me New York and I just had the ideal of a lifetime about to give these niggas Oakland. So so my upbringing in l A and then moving to Oakland and taking it in like a like a canvas or something like, you know, and absorbing it. You know, something that I didn't receive from birth. I just came into it. I started writing about it was it became like my music the city of Oakland.
And even later in life, I could get stuck in the studio and just think of some crazy shift I've seen in Oakland, some shout I heard in Oakland, some shift I think about Oakland and just start writing. And Ship just made me write songs. So, so, what's the name of their first album again out Don't Stop Rapping? And I named it that for a reason And you didn't stop wrapping by five? So so short, Yeah, that's crazy, that is crazy. So and when what year did that drop? Five?
I was born in seventy seven, so you know, So if I don't, if I know that, you know, I'm a big fan. I always been a big fan of you. U was raping job for a long time. Come on, let's a salute to that rape job. You saw that Planet Rock documentary. Yeah, the relationship between crack cocaine and hip hop, let's not the city v H one. It was either VIN one or B and then talking about throughout the history of hip hop and how the cocaine and the cracking. I'm from that ship because the way
that people say, uh and freeway Rick Ross. If they said that crack cocaine invented in Oakland, it was l a but then they they used cities like Oakland to kind of like to stop. Yeah. Yeah, So how was that like seeing the city coming from South Central going to Oakland and then you seeing it not having crack and then now crack has closed. So first and foremost, I gotta say I never so dup in my life. You know what's going to do? I sold a lot
of pussy. Yeah, oh my god. But that being said, um so before eight five, before like you know, you remember that ship, it was like I could be like what I called Nigga rich Man. You might just your hu hustle might only back then might have got you like three five grand, but you had a car. You always had a wide with a rubber band. He was he was bawling. And the crack change that ship. I remember, I remember the crack did a few things man because her Oakland was like not Oakland, but I mean that
area was a great area. Like prior to the drugs, you could you could move around a little bit. It wasn't too fucking dangerous if you you do freeery red Cross later on, later on continued, but it's the kind of place where you could you had to get yourself in some trouble if you did it, if you asked for it, you was gonna get it to the front appropriately.
But after the crack, you would notice like and you know this ship too, um, it would be like little niggas, the little niggas that used to probably like couldn't fight too good and ship and it wasn't like you know, these little niggas was respected. Now they got that money, that sack and they got a couple of soldiers and like this little nigga is a boss now like too three years into it, Like this nigga is a kingpin.
And it just changed that. You know, we didn't before the crack, we didn't have a handguns that could shoot seventeen bullets. You know what I'm saying that the motion you might get shoot six shots and the motherfucking you know, tell you why you got shot after the crap, you don't know why you got shot seventeen And that's just if it's a handgun. Do you believe the story that the c i A actually that it started. That's a
good version that this is true. But the bigger version now is the whole big story of the whole mass incarceration thing, that the whole ship was a scam. So that it's damn there, like we we all this ship we called coke rap. We're damn there like we we failed for the trap. You know they call what they sell dope in the spot called the trap. That I
mean it says at all. So so so listen, I want to get into the pymnt thing because you know why I want to get into the Pippin thing because I don't give a funk with any n y C nigga. Tell you, we didn't know anything about no Pippen until we heard you talking about it. When you heard you talking about it, then we've seen Bishop don maam, we've seen them. You know the players, uh, players ball, we've
seen all that. Come on, he stopped the phone boy, that's because so so so so so so when was the first time he was introduced to pimpen And then how did you realize that that was that was gonna be your life? All right? Well, my infatuation started with the movies of the seventies because they put it in there. And then, like I said, my cousins living on eighty four ft hoover, if you go to the other end of the block, you want to figure rower and that's
where it hover. That's in the l a. So then when I get the Oakland, I see these niggs righting around limousine, the hoses and then getting picked up in school from his hose and limousines looking at back and it was like they're made back back then. Yeah, and then me and my little homie, we'll go down to San Pablo where they used to see pussy and prior to Crack, they looked like a fucking monel wing runaway and ships were beautiful. Yeah. So because you know, Crack
gave pivot and home like this ugly s image. A lot of pimps got smoked out a lot of holes got smoked out, and then it was like then we start saying it like crack horrors. Before that, your bitch had to be a superstar. And even to this day, I want to shout out some of my young pimping homies right now that they're pimping on some dying pieces that you would never think was bitches not making three when she laid she's bringing in a thousands, she's bringing
in thousands. You know, I was out there on some major routes right now. So just to keep the pimpot alive, don't don't, don't get it, I keep propping my call like every time. I keep some times shoes they looked like rappers morning. So so I, um, I've seen this ship, man. I started. I started diving a little more into it. My thing with rapping after I heard the message was let's use the lingo of the streets, the new slang words that come out the ship that's really happening, Like,
let's talk about these streets. And then it just he off into you know, let's talk about this game, and we just started like people just you would wrap about ship and you would see what motherfucker was interested in. They wanted to hear that real ship. So somewhere down the line, I had a I had a line in one of my songs, I don't know if you're smokeing,
Oh ship ship short. I was anna say that I didn't know you smoke you About fifteen sixteen, I wrote this this one line and said, um, it said I had sixteen holes sucking tin toes and that you can bet like it was just a line, and every time I said that in the song, Motherfucker's laughed. So I sat down by myself and said, let me write a song about each of these sixteen holes and how I met him. And that was the early version of my song that came to be real popular, called Freaky Tales.
And I had a song about these sixteen holes how I met him, I met this hole, you know, And it just started being more and more himp and I just started digging into the game. M and you you gotta you know, you got the Donald Goin's books. Listen, you got um you know, Iceberg, Slim, The Story of My Life, Phil More. Some of those books got some real game up in the real game. I read this book called a broad Players. It's not very popular, but
that motherfucker. Just it's just big pimping. And I started it just come to me, man, you get these ideas as a writer, and I'm like, dn that hauld be a cold as fun just like this. I gotta tell your story short. One time I met Bischer don wan he he invited me to a joint, right and then and then so party. For a week, I was pimping, like for just one week, just one week, right, just one I swore I was pimping. Right. So this white bass come on to me and I said, you bit,
you gotta choose. She choose, She chose me. I ain't know what to do after that, Like I did that short? Can you can? You? Can? You? What was I trying? Owes me and start? Who were wearing? Why? And the ship is like it's like any other business man. Why is this woman gonna sell her body and give you the money? Right? And you know, you put yourself and start of like a manager role. You kind of like um, kind of like her fucking fucking therapists and ship. You know,
but this is gonna be crazy as hell. You gotta you gotta bring it back around every night, because a real pimp gotta be real smart. Let's the main The main secret I think that I learned about pippin that one, the one that lets you go home and kick your ass back while she's out there working, is she gotta be home for a purpose, and you've got to give her a person, some noise for for a purpose. Start giving that puss here away for no reason. So, I mean,
it's anything in life. Man, if you're not driven, if you're you're wrapping and ship, and you're not wrapping for something, you're not really you're not really going forward, just on the corner freestyling and battling. I just always thought that like the pimps that didn't hit the holes and didn't do that, I thought there's the best ones, because in order for you to control somebody with your mind and just talk to them, that is the illest psychological therapist,
craziest ship. So how about those pips, Well, you know the pimps who I call that like finesse pimpen where you could just pep and then the other guy who gotta beat the girl scared of shut out. They call that guerrilla pimp. And I heard about and you know the finesse pimps, they kind of laugh at the grilla pimps. It's kind of like they look at it like the nigga is not as smart as me and he don't got much game as me. But it works both ways. You want to you want to pimp the whole out
of fear. I personally don't think that that's even necessary, but there's a lot of niggas. It's mean nature like that to just dog the bitch out and just just run round a house full of fear. But you know, either way, you're getting the money man, because because your record label was always you was you was signed a job for like like well ship like like maybe twelve the no it was me E forty spice one because
the tours was crazy back then. So but you was the first like a fish rapper from Oakland, no doubt about, from the whole fucking Bay area. Make some noise for that. I got dad at no Ship And it has really nothing to do with my l a upbringing either. This that I just got to Oakland. It all just happened. After I got there. I decided I could do this rap ship and I just didn't it just you know, it's even bigger than being the first rapper up out
of the bay. Bigger than that is is being a pioneer of the whole music scene, because you could be the first rapper and not pioneer ship. But we brought in that independent put your mother records out, you know, And like I said, it was because then job came and got you. How did that happen when you first got sign a job? I came in the game through uh, through some some street guys, you know, okay, particularly a guy named Dean Hodges. He seen you and this little
brother was was the homie. We still you know, smoke weed, hang out the ship and he was just the homie. We still funk around and like his little brother rapped, but he wasn't. He wasn't really that quality where that you ever thought he was gonna get on. He was just like for the fun of every day. But then the projects rapping and ship kicking out. So he was like, man, my brother got a record label. I'm like, okay, you know, He's like, take you up by his house. Now I
knew his brother not for having a record label. The nigga he had the sack And if you want to get a visual of Dean back then, Dean kind of you know nigga with the with the curlers in his hair, the cover green or whatever the East Coast. Every time they had the curlers in the head, just kill us. Picture that nigga and looking like he was kind of like a Jimmy Hendricks, Rick James looking just like a rock star. Him and man, I got so much game. Dean taught me how to be a player. This nigga
was a player. He was a player for I mean real player who was sitting in his house. I'm fresh out of high school. This nigga run in and out all day all day. Just he got the sack and he's just rock star in the hood and he's just a house on the hill bawling. And then then they had a label. And the whole label consists of him m having the money, having a drug. Everybody wanted to cocaine. He sit out there. You go to Dean's house, it is a platter of cocaine right there. It's a it's
a bit. It's a bit over there and maybe in her and her draw panties and brought cooking up some cokes. Want to smoke it. It's a box of weed. Just roll a joint. If you don't ask, just roll the motherfucker and you know. It's just it was a colorful environment. Man. My fucking Dan was kind of the watch Sanfer and sun rerounds all day and just and just bit just sit around their panties. I'm not gonna lie when you described that scene, me Lee think side and we didn't
look like some ship like that. On a way higher level, this nigger was not selling rocks. This was not a rock house you had. You had to come up in there with some money, if you know what I think. So Dean got all these professionals together, musicians that played all instruments, niggas that have been in you know, different bands with because Oakland got a lot of music history. So these niggas that played with Tower and Power and Larry Graham and James and all kind of motherfucker's. It
was just it was professionalism. And he put me in the studio with these niggas, these like older cats. He even had some rock and roll dudes around. It was just it was a great environment to become too short. It wasn't really doesn't sound really healthy, but it was a great environment to develop the character. Too short and we made. We just go to studio since session started LEMPM in the six am, and it was just you know, it's like college for me, you know what I'm saying.
But the main thing was the nigga was really running the independent label and he was really going to the studio. And he's the one who took you to job going. No, he was the one that he just taught me this ship. So we go to the studio, the ship mixed down, we got this other motherfucker. We get cassettes and wax pressed up. We got this other motherfucker. And he he sells the ship to multiple record stores and then we drive up to individual record stores and just carry the
ship in and sell it to him. Because it's true, like like y'all invented independent hustling for that. How I got lucky was one day I'm one Dean, this nigga, you know, the nigga that taught you the game. You're looking up to. This nigga is driving bins. He's the nigga. So you know, I'm like, what's what we're doing next? And then one day Deans, like about tw years into it, he was like man to me and his little brother
I need you to get the funk out of my house. Yeah, focus music, ship, just get the way, don't come around. I don't know more, but we like family. His mom is like my mom, and his cousins like my cousin. We ain't going too far right up the street. But still now he was like, I don't want to more
parts of it. So that all we had to do now is we've been running with Dean for two years, to the motherfucking studio, to the manufacturer, to the negati did the artwork, to the motherfucking distributor picking up the check. Were right there with what do we do? We do the ship without him, nigga, we made so much motherfuckers, and that's how you are. That's how I found me, and then job came to you. We didn't give a funk about the signing bonus and nothing. We're just like,
you're gonna give us national distributions. Let's right. You know in New York it was the exact opposite of that wine. Why, yeah, you'll be trying to get a deal, right, We'll be trying to get a deal first. But we heard or something because we heard that Richmond, California. You guys in yeah, Oakland, like you guys in like like y'all was actually like when you said selling out the trunk, we meant that as selling it to fat beats. We wasn't selling I'm
gonna keeping it honest with you. We wasn't selling out the trunk, y'all. Was literally we had boxes in the back of selling out the motherfucking trunk. And it wasn't no trunk. It was actually a fucking truck trunk, actually truck. Wow. The same thing with Master P. Man Master was in the Bay. He was in the Bay. His family they owned like record stores. He owned the record store in Richmond.
Master P was from New Orleans, came out to the Bay and he started making them West Coast down South compilations and ship and then he he blew the funk up and set up shop down in the bathroom as well. Master he was in the Bay, which sucks sing after independent game. So yeah, y'all, y'all told us the independency ship like every time, it was just a no option thing. Though. Man if I had sucking Tommy Boy and motherfucking uh
goddamn Profile Records was up the street. I've been up there telling my hooked me to funk up, but we didn't have it. So you guys got had to always look at New York people like, damn y'all lazy. How how y'all gotta deal on y'all in the city. I had a rap partner before, like eighty five. My rap partner got caught up in the in the crack game and we never heard this. Let's make some noise to do short for giving us the fred Freddy he was, he was popping. It was it was Freddie being too short.
It was that nigga. That nigg was an Oakland nigga born in brand New Niggas on every side of the town. It was he was. He was like the plug for me, like just walking the streets with um. Yeah before that though, UM, okay, the weed is working because yeah, no, I ain't gonna lie to you. I this song with you back in the days. But for you to sit down and sit down and chill, because you know what this is. It's about letting legends live again. You know what I'm saying.
This is the Drink Dry podcast is about. And for you to just sit down and you not to deny me pass you the weed. I am very happy. My brother the guy has spoken up blood with too short interviewing, too short. Fun know this is a serious legend. Were like eighty four, me and Freddy B. We're talking about all right, that's what we're gonna do. We're gonna get two great hand tickets. We wrote down the list every motherfucking twelve inches that came out, every every single that
dropped out of New York, all the different labels. We wrote down an address to the motherfucking label. Were like on the Greyhound, we're going these fucking address. We don't get us a record out like that was the That was the option. Listen all you knew niggers need to listen to what he just said. Oh my god, can't continue please, that's that's just a crazy story. These guys just stole it on the internet and just hope Kevin Lyles call them gag continue. Yeah, but you know it
was going. We had plans, man like, it was like options and ship and then we got with that independent game and it should just happened like Dean. Dean showed me how to do it. I always give credit to him for it and what I did when I got it, I passed it. On to one of my homies. Okay to do who I am who came back around After I quit fucking with Dean, I still needed somebody to come with some money to make the dream come true. I knew how to do it, but I didn't have
the money no more. So my man tear Bow hanning him and uh big ted little tear they got. They got a little rap in the street to Oakland. People know who that is. They they came through, put a nigger back in the game with the you know, studio time and being ever press up the ship and all that ship, and we just kind of we blew up from there. Man, we went to the next motherfucking level. We're just I'm just every every I think. It was like every fifteen racks would make me like sixty or
some ship like that. Every fifteen racks you spend, yeah, we'll make you six dealers. Listen to this pay attention. And it was clear legit money, and we we flip. We kept flipping it so many times. We just kept on getting this is when you're just in though. We go buy fifteen thousand casents and selling for sixty racks, and we did that. Give you the upper handle when
the Drive came knocking. Yeah, but all we wanted from Drive with distribution the way we did the Ship, we just we just want to get a different deal though, compared to like someone in New York that was signing the Drive because trip we thought we did in the long the mother's slick man, because that's what I'm wondering. We got. We had some ship, and we had to bullshit too. But it's cool. We we've met a lot
of money. How you've been in the job. How many years I was on that motherfucker from Hue eighty eight until like goddamn damn me in two thousand and it was a long time. Let's make some money A long time. A lot of moms that a lot of motherfuckers. You don't have fun on job. Let me say it's funny day. So I wrapped a long time before I got a deal. I did a lot of ship before I gotta deal.
I gotta deal in eight eight, and I had been rapping like seven eight years already, So I had all these rap songs that I put out in the streets to people new and love. When I signed the Jive, it shot me to check the albums win nationwide checks came back, you know the Royal Teaching ship that shot the next up front. I'm like, nigga, Like, you know, we was getting money, grinding, hustling. I was like, Nigga, this niggers gonna keep sending me hundreds of thousands if
I make songs. Nigga. I went back until I had a box. Well, I didn't have a rap book. I had a box full of wraps I've been right in for years and just little tapes in the street. I wouldn't that box and recycle every motherfucking line in there, but I would just scratch out the line if I use it. I was using them old wraps for the next eight years. Should I wrote for eight years prior, I used for eight years. In my deal, I put
out an album probably every nine months. And now, what would you getta see to yourself more of a wrapper or more of a CEO and the hustler. Well, as far as rap goes, I think I'm a real, real major hip hop fan and I always put myself outside the circle of what I'm calling hip hop niggas. Was like, oh, they nigga spit them bars. You know that ship, Like I was strictly just pounding in the trunk, talking ship.
And I could have taught a lot of niggas, no matter what the integrity of you as a man, I could have taught you how to talk that ship and make that ship pound. You would have had a million fans like me, like it just was you talk shit. I listen, I'm saying ship talking versus spitting bars and
all this ship and being a rapper. But see, oh man, I look at it like we hustlers, man, because we we we started company, and we don't say you're my boss, and that like were hustling to get this money doing something. We didn't drop niggas off on the way. Because we're
hustling and getting money. It's a lot of money coming in and niggas like call me when you're going to lunch, you know, Like you know, we're up at seven in the morning pressing up ship and picking up ship and moving it around, you know, and we and we partied all last night, but we're up in the morning grinding getting the ship to where we can get these checks back. I always thought about bank deposits. Yeah you need to be you need to be making more money, and yeah,
you have took that in the bank. I need to try to put that in the bank, so I'll put that on my mattress. I'm a foul, don't. I'm like, how the fund can we make get to the bank and put money in? Uh? We? So we're grinding man like the Nias done at that same black minded philosophy. He was dropping him off on the way. Welcome to play a new podcast network featuring radio and TV personalities talking business, sports, tech, entertainment, and more. Play it at

The Hughes brothers, this is what I think happened. The brothers are a really real big Bay Area hip hop fans and they from Pomona somewhere in l A. They love Bay rapped there to say this is what they told me. And Tupac had just funked off his partner movie by
beating one of the brothers. So, um so Park was off the movie. And if you notice, it's not a lot of star power. You got but Park didn't have your role. No no, no, no, no, he didn't he had You're supposed to be the it that was. So they needed a little star power and they just uh they strictly just brought me into that they could have
like somebody name branding that motherfuckering. Then they they just happened to be major too short fans if you noticed, they came and got me for their next little documentary movie. Uh what was it called? American pamp Oh? Yes, and let me set you though, you're supposed to be in there, go ahead. So it was it was just a matter that man, I came in there and work for a few days and kicked it. That minister Society, the cold
ass movie. You had the coldest role in there. Yeah, they learning you know, I'm not that was a cold world. I'm not only pulled the trap on no dog, that's the movie. Let's make some noise and put on trap roll dog. That's a fact that that's I mean for us, especially us from New York. Um. You know, when we've seen you, when we see n Way, when we've seen many society boys in the hood, that's when we actually realize y'all culture because we knew that hip hop. I
think comment had made the record. I love her, and but when they went over there, yeah, I used to love But when it went over there, yeah, I was so different. And for me everything was about buildings. Everything was about like when I see in the face ye and you chopped it up and this was the craziest thing to see you guys in your element. You know
what I'm saying. Like, but but the crazy thing is you was from South Central and then you went up north North North Cow, so you called it up North and North Yeah, north count Two different worlds, two different The Mexican gangs they divide them, the slang words, the dress come wow yeah makes you could adapt to both worlds still. I mean to this day, to this day, you can still love that. I an't gonna lie. I had a promoter hit me one time and it was
a It was a lady. It was like, you want too short at the easiest people to um handle, and I was like, why is that? It was like, you don't ask for here and make up. They just want the land and we miss the diva ship. What's Yeah. I'm like, I'm like, what's the pick up? You can take that where did Mike at how it makes you need one? So that but after minutes, how did your life change? Because that had to be the biggest music
movie at that time. Man, I ain't gonna lie. Man, what I had going on at that moment was bigger than that movie. My Ship was platinum, platinum, platinum, that movie. That movie like some side shout, I wouldn't there was a side. It was a slot. I was already popping so that the movie came out hit hard, but it was. It was one of the ones that kind of like Purple Rain kind of movie where kind of lasted and
lasted and lasting. We don't go still last. You watch it right now on TV or you know, and edited it's still it's the Ship movie. The boys made a good movie. But you know, man, that whole New York West Coast thing I used to I used to go to New York. What you're telling me now? Like I used to go to New York. And I know for a fact it wasn't really about the music, because motherfucker's like, man,
I really needn't hear too much that you did. But they'd be like man, respect some respect, kids like like it would be it was the fact then it was a nationalize just like if you're the man, you're the man in your hood. So I asked my New Yorkers, I'm like, what does that mean that they keep saying respect? They like they're showing you love. Like it's just saying, you know, ship, that's that's a big deal for New
Yorker says that you respect. So I was like, okay, cool, but it wasn't about the music, and and you know, I kind of um, I kind of uh, you know, I started hanging out in New York a little bit. Man after a WI they love you in New York. I don't know if you know that, but you know, the whistle blow, the whistle come on. Getting in the studios though in New York moving around, I didn't. I didn't been on I've been on three jay Z albums, two big albums. Going in was it was going in?
How did that first feel? Like? You know, Jay wanted to mess with you. You're all the way on the other side of the coast and he wanted I got I got the B I G blessing the I G. Just he was what you worked your big before, JA, or do you work with big first? And then he told me this ship. Man, he told me this ship the first time I met him. He can't. He called me over to a limo where was at the outcast picnic and Limos was popping back, nig a limo right now? If you fucked up, you put up in a limo.
Ain't nobody niggas Like who who's sucking Bob Dylan up right now? Like yeah, But back then, I understand that Limos was that They caught me up to the limo and you know, rolling winder that and I walked leaning over and it's it's a friendly event outdoor, you know, this matching this ship on the on the front line of background all around the house and ship, and he caught me over and he just said, yo, yo, you got love in Brooklyn. That's all he said. Yeah, Like
what's up? So then a couple of years later, Niga is a super making stuff. But but hold on because I want your continior story. But did you know how much New York loved you? Because New York loved you? And That's what I'm getting at. It was it was a gradual you know understanding that I didn't even I wasn't getting it for a minute. Okay, so um he told me that ship and then a couple of years later we're sitting on the tour of us spoken some weed. He was like, you remember that time you came on
to the limits like you gotta love in Brooklyn? He said that was me. I'm like, damn, you know, like you know, like, oh, so he wasn't biggie when he told you that. He probably was already had his deal and ship. He was a party, but he was some noise for two short breaking the story and off, Oh that's crazy. So you met Big before he was big and he told you you had loving Brooklyn and you see him later that later on we started being homies and ship. We're making songs. We did that Out of
the World is field Hose so too short? You keep making me pop my collar the whole episode of making your Sight. I just I've been like that and now I'm a hyphian because I go out there recently. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm gonna ride the river every Yeah, you know, Big just we we just became friends, man, And you know, he he told me about how how New Yorker is for the most part, wasn't really feeling like listening to any other hip hop outside New York and he's like, man,
I've been listening to everything though. He was plaming Ship like he listened all down South Ship and he was like, I like him. I like Ship. So so he was one of them cats who was open without any kind of bias, and he um he wanted to work, like, let's do a song. And then the way I did this song with him and he sent Puffy to come get me. You're like, you know, like Puffers that you can't say no kind of nigger. So puff was like, man, you know Big want you on the song. I've never
been able to say no toll to this day. And he was like people think he had a soft he was a bully. Man, He's a bully. He's a bullet. This this is a funny story that Big came to the Oakland and I think somebody took his chain. I ain't heard that one. Didn't heard that one. You didn't heard that one. I heard forty helped that out. Okay, you know what I moved to Atlanta was talking about the Atlanta movement. You were responsible from Atlanta being the
pipin country. Atta what wait, Eric sermon, we moved to Atlanta. You moved to Atlanta early? What year did you move? Is that why they got strip clubs in Atlanta. I didn't move to Atlanta for the music industry. I moved to that motherfucker for the for the property, the culture that I was. I was down there. It was it
was like easy math. It was real estate was like one fourth of what California ship table dances at the strip of how much in California that the ratio of women and men was like on even one it was going down and it was just it was like you was the first person to crack the outlets, some noise for him to crack the out you know. Now you know who beat me? There was some things that beat me. Eric Simon showed up like a little bit before me.
Bobby Brown. Bobby Brown was acting brown. He was atron was sucking everything he was in that motherfucker I got sucking everything. It was his prerogative, it was his proa man. He was sucking everything. I ain't got everywhere like I was a little nigga. See everybody brow like whoever. I was like, you're gonna suck him the night? Yeah, go ahead, but I'm sorry. I got Yeah. So you know Dallas Austin was starting his ship. He was. He was involved
with the whole TELC come up. L A Read was already and then he had the glove one when you met him, nothing good. I don't know he were in gloves or spikes and ship. He's a little different. He was rocking ron Dallas back. He was a rock star. He was. He's a rock star. He's always That's what I was trying to establish. So you know, he's old g He helped me out. La Ray was who he is because he was all of that that. The face was there, he had Tony Braxton ship already been platting.
He had like artist Tony Terry, he was the face was established and then there was no outcasts. It wasn't no giddy mobs, wasn't you know. Criss Cross probably had like you know, a single or some ship. The new ship. They were still jumping around and ship. I got there right when it started. Gucci Crew, I think on I got you know, the tag team was bawling and the Face Records, yeah you heard that just now. He was
at the Face Records. They never offered me ship. Let's just make some noise for too short for raping the industry. Come on, so, I mean I was just there for young Atlanta. You know the architecture, what coming from coming from you're born, You're born in South Central to Oakland and now you in the Land and then eyeball Atlanta. I'm at the freakneck like what I'm come back? Did you realize that this was born to be the music scene?
You was just out there. I went to the I had already been touring out there doing doing concerts and ship and then we're gonna Magic City and around. I knew the lifestyle. Now Magic City is where Players Club is based on that it could be what what did you feel like when you've seen the Players Club? Was that true to you or to the lifestyle? I was living Cuba's my nigger to the lifestyles living. That's very
water down strip club experience in that movie. I've never really seen a strip club to give you a movie to give you that real fucking strip club feeling that real. So we're gonna make the Moor drink chaps, We're gonna make the movie together. I never captured that the real strip club experience. And now all you're saying in the Bay Area. Now I'm talking aboutwhere it's a whack on the West Coast. I don't I don't even strip clubs on the West Coast. I forget Miami. We got it here, man,
we got no I ain't gonna lie Miami. You ain't doing if you ain't doing it like Miami or Atlanta, Miami cities like Dallas, and if the best don't get button and you can have a drink in the same building, it's bullshit. Let's make some noise for too short Norman about the real strip cloth strip right there is in New York the time to time to go to sus Wanda boos and you know, I'm like, it's a strip club in l a with a bitch, um a bitch where three pairs of panties. She barely get topless for
a minute. She keeps poking the titty out and then every time the bitch pull her panties back, it's another pair of panties under it. If I was in the hotel, that would work for me. Put in the strip club with nic I'm in Atlanta, man, I'm getting there, you know, before I moved there. And you're like, you get a dance right, she can't. You say, can I get a dance?
And you say, let me see that pussy? So she before you even get the dance, you're like, let me just see what I'm getting into, and then you go, oh, yeah, I want to dance based on if you like what you see. You ain't doing that at no. You know the other joints, you know, sometimes they call the strip clubs. They shouldn't call them naked clubs because girls don't even strip, they wear nothing. They only call them. I'm not gonna
lie with some clubs. They walk around but as naked you don't even have to have a top of bottom. She just walking around already naked. I'm not gonna She thought I was a pimp for a week. It didn't work out for me. I was, It wouldn't bet for me. I just couldn't do it. I just I got compassion. I don't know, because should be a p you can't have nothing. You can't have no like you know, I really feel like I could be a really good pimp, but I got this other good ass job called rapping.
I can't got that. Every time you dabble in some pimping and this is getting a few gee, she's getting some geezs bringing him Like you just did all that stressing me to funk out, And that wasn't number two shovels to me because they can't they can't touch the money they're supposed to bring the money back. That's a real pimp. So you're just having a good month. You get uh walking around this now you get like fifteens out the bush of the Mother. That's a few shows.
That's a couple of shows. That's nothing. She's gonna stretch you the funk out. Yeah, yeah, you're right, keep that ship. You do a show? My dig sucked after So how does it feel, Christophirst? Because you you did a song with jay Z and Biggie Small and multiple songs and bok Yeah and Snoop. How that's That's something I'm really proud of in a career, super super super g and in a career, I am that all those guys are gonna be, you know, legends on their way one or
the other. But when we're all going, yeah, you know, I just want to be in that. Not many people and bone doogs too, Right, did we do a song? I'm not just many songs. I don't even know maybe I ain't gonna the homies up we did. Just told you I did a song on your album. You don't even remember. He was sitting there like work you did when you did so much song, You're all we got to bang that song? What then was the hook I
pull about my phone? Right now? People believe you having But short man, how you like um all these years? How do you maintain your love for hip hop? How does that happen? Because I like that new ship ain't gonna like I like you like, I like what it happens. And I'm not talking about the new right now. I'm talking about every time, the new, every time to change, because you know, when you're the nigger, it's it's like sports,
just like the fucking head. When you're the nigga and that next nigger come up like the super stud and start getting a little more attending you, you start feeling the kind of way and you still feel the same that nigga though before I'm like, I'm not nigga, who's getting money? Who If I see a young nigga getting it, I'm like, nigga getting get it? Nigger, Like that's real, man, Because you understand what you just said, some noise for
that guy. Everybody, camerady, that's real because I'm promoting that ship. Let's all get it. Let's get it, you know what I'm saying. And then when you get it, you're wrong if you don't pass it on. It's all wrong. If you don't share this some kind of way, don't give it away, but teach the next nigger how to how to get it too, because you always have fun with the game. Like every time I've seen you, I don't care where I see you are. You're walking through you
looking good. You know what I'm saying. Like there's other people who don't do that. You know what happens. Those blessings they come around. Man, it's come back around. There's been a time in my life where ship was sucked up. That's some fun up ship. And then somebody who I showed that love to, it's like, what's wrong? Bam? You know? And instantly and then O for the love And how about my man Mr fabi mus for Mr Faber's that's like my son, let's make noise for Mr Fabian too,
short side. We just saw him. And then something south was with cows. Oh yeah, thirty years of round cows that. Yeah, yeah, that's my name, that's my brother. Thirty years of rapping. Uh huh. I'm like, we get we're getting money other ways. We can do this ship with it without the microphone. We can get down right, but you still enjoy what you do. Flab came to me and uh it was like, man've been rapped the thirty years. You gotta make an albums.
So I'm doing an album called the thirtieth Anniversary. And and my man came in there kind of a and on my album for me, just you know, just kind of just kind of like a beautiful thing, whole bunch of ship. We're doing the hoods and ship and just just just like putting Nick in shape, Like you know, you get a nick in shape right right, you gotta nig in shape for get ass album. So I got
I'm an old ass snake. I just turned fifty, like last Thursday, turn fifty, got damage and then her motherfucking fifty. We had caress one here and he had to all peak cars. It's correct, yea man, you know my age. Yeah, he definitely said he's fifty. Yeah, okay, yeah, definitely said he's fifty. Ain't nothing wrong, but you know what's crazy short you you look young, you're doing young ship and you still have the love for it. Like I could look at you when I asked you these questions. You
really still love hip hop? No, it's the hustle thing. I'm about to get on the mic and wrap in front of the crowd tonight. It ain't ship tonight. I grabbed the mic and live last night, Yeah and live. I ain't gonna lie. I was so tired that we had a long. We had a long. I wish I knew you was there. So you never lost your love for hip hop now once? Not for wrap now No, No, because you could be a lean with a rock with
and like that. They Okay, look you gotta you got a bunch of motherfucker's that like this new weird ship. That's what you're saying. That's what you're seeing. Ship is weird. How his motherfucker's like it. I try to get around and figure out what is it that they like. It must be the infectious beat, it must be the catchy, it must be the way to make you dance. It's something good about it. So I like, I'm like, oh I get it. I try to get it, like why
did you nigga is dressing all weird? Oh I get it, if it makes sense if you're dressing all weird, I don't know. I don't get that part. But they don't want to be like us kids and their defense when you look at the like the first pitches of hip hop, the first it was dressing. But guess what these little niggas that we're calling weird right now is just trying to look like the eighties with the Golden ship. So so with that being said and you being a pimp,
you're being a real nigger. I've never heard too short. And the controversy other than when you ran from bullies. That was crazy. What happened when you ran from bullies? Let's talk about that. I was in that l a. I had an apartment. I had an apartment right across the street from right here from where I was running from side. I was about to dip up in the spot. And then it's nothing that ain't been done before. You gotta be careful. I'm just saying that it was crazy.
We walked the line, but we walked the line. I talked to that brother, I was like, man, I did all the tests, all this ship I wasn't even drunk. I was like it had been it was three thirty, the drinking that stopped a while ago. I wasn't gonna walk these bitches to that car, okay, because the bitches ship is for real. Let's make some noise keeping it.
And I feel like I can't call these bitches bitches because after I got all the trouble, they never called back once and said, okay, listen, it was just bitches I met that night. Walked these bitches to the car. I said, no, you know what, I live right over there. It's like about a block and a half. I'm gonna drive it all over this three hang out on my spot. I'm gonna drive you all over there. Drove him over there and hit a little you turn to come back and turn the light on me. He made me do
all this ship. And you know, the nigga who saw the video of the TMZ was like one of the security dudes from the club I was. It was all right there in the neighborhood that was like a supper club I went to that night Tuesday night. I'm like, even even then, they got heard the nigger sell the video for like five hundred days like we would have gave him five thousand, like that bullshit you got there.
But it was some good press though, Like I do like the good press that you get when you get to Yeah, but is it the first time you realize the power Internet or you've been new to the power. And that was the first time I realized. I was in my forties, because you get the building. I said, dude, I live right there. I said, you got my car. I said, I'll leave this motherfucker here. Whatever, man, just this, I live right there. You know. He's like, you gotta
blow for me, like man, I told. I said, Man, I might not. I was drinking earlier. I just I told the whole story. I'm like, sucking right there. A lot of times. The copy like, all right, man, just you know, leave the car here, you know, go home. This things like you gotta blow. I was like, is that my only option? That was the last thing I asked you could, did you know. I mean, honestly, that's one of the ones I regret because I have some converse low cut um um, the Chuck chillers, yeah, the
Chuck Taylor's, Yeah, you can't run to those. And I was I was just mad because I was like, those are like the Kanye West news leagues. You're running those it's over. You think I had like another broad still at the spot, I'm like, I gotta get back. It ain't over. It like going up. So that's just real deal. You really have broads, Like wherever every city you go,
you have broads or or you stop that. That's I'm gonna tell you like this at this at this stage in the game, I'm not trying to be young short dog anymore. I'm not doing this. I used to go when I go out, I'm like call of homies, like you know, hang out with a lot of chicks. I like eight time we go out. That was my normal. I might do some like that tonight, but really, uh tonight, Yeah, I mean I'm in Miami. You want me to hang with you tonight? I want to just see how it
goes down. I'm in Miami, so I'm really not the one. You've been doing this in Miami for the long time, but I'm not coordinated. The chicks. It's like Miami is like you know, the girls they do it. They're just like you got the girls who could corded the girls and they just make some hot five five. For That's what I'm saying is back in the day, I would literally get in my phone and called like these two, those two those to meet me. I did that ship up until about three or four years ago. I kind
of just like chilled it out a little bit. Now now I might go out with like two or three and just you know. Another secret to what I do is a lot of guys they try to funk all the women. I just try to hang out with him and just hang out to be cool and ship happened, were cool. It's that's you know's a secret weapon for you will Charlie Skins, he didn't secret who else you
gotta tell? Sunday dB he knows about the make some noise for a horny if you're we gott Donald's let me call them all group like no crewe if you're a horny mantana like if you if you want to suck everything, you're like me personally. I've seen a couple of my horny dudes we in bur Burn, um let me pronounce this right, um Berlin, Germany. I've seen my my homie finger Papa bitch in the butt in the club, not in the club, in the butt. I say, slime, this is not this is I'm uncomfortable with this. I
actually can't. I can't partake. He's like, no, this is how we're doing it, like in the butt. In the club, I gotta skill out, I gotta leave, you know what I mean. But there's a lot of horny people. Yeah, so that's how pimps actually got a honey. I gotta honey. He he was kind of like kind of Timmy kind of guy. Man. It wasn't really like aggressive with the ladies, but then you know, he kind of had He's like
a rock star kind of the kind of world. It's like ponytail ship like nigga and he wanted to hang out with us one night and I was like, dude, you can't where we're going. You can't get down like that. So we literally sent the nigga somewhere he was He wasn't from Okland, but he was passing through. We sent the nigga down to where the pimps get their hair downe and ship and got him a pimp hair due out of his you know, last we turn we turned him into like on certain kind of clothes and then
he got to the party. He's like, still the same nigga, Like, what do I do? Said the way you look, just walk up to every bit and say, I'm Mike bitch a right right, Boris guess we came back and tell me at the party later on, he said, nigga, that ship works. You know, I'm gonna be honest. I hung out with Bishop don for like a whole weekend. He had me gass right. So what happened was they gave me a famous player car. You remember the famished player car. It's gold. They gave me won seven on there and
they asked me to come to the play ball. I got there and then you know, I'm on I'm I'm on road for real, like but I took two days out of my schedule. I walked into players Um playing ship. It was a white bitch that was I'm walking in. The white bitch said hey, how are you doing you? You know, I don't even know if she asked me to take a picture. She asked me something and I said, bet you a better play I definitely didn't know, and she chose me. I said, bet you better choose. I
don't know why I said that. In the b and Bishop darma Um what's my nigga? Juju, pimp juju, all of us trying to knock me. They said, your noriri, and then the white bitch kept saying about me, and I said, I don't know what I did. I don't know what I did. You didn't get the memo? And then get the memo the pimp correctly, and then I wanted to pass off, but she really didn't want to be back. That nigga he got about. He always got
about five or six holes. His bitches gotta stare at the ground and can't look up that he now was what about like breaking down. It's kind of funny though, because his bitches are sitting somewhere, even when they sit down, the whole Chinese. They can never look up. They have to look at the ground, and they'd be sitting there talking to each other. And then if you dare like, you know, I'm a little crazy guy. So I just try to funk with him and break a little bit,
like how y'all doing. They can't speak to no outside man nothing. They can't crazy. That's him out. That's just like you wearing your jury. He's wearing. He's showing you his pimpen. He's like I could have told him, bitches to look straight at here. I could have told him just the circle down, look that, don't never look up, don't talk to anybody except me or each other. I ain't gonna lie. And that's just just how I knew I I wasn't ready for Pippen because my white bitch
did that. My white bitches just like she wouldn't say I was prim jews ring pimpen kid and they both accept to me and said, he said, you play. You don't know what you're doing right now. I said, like God, I would't main leave alone, and she just kept looking. That's how I knew she was more spread. Nigga pimp and nig have pamp game and are of it. We're doing. It's a difference pimping and having pimp game because I like the way you broke that's. Having pamp game means
that I probably could apply it. But I'm just I'm doing another ship. I don't don't even stressful, man, stressful, break that down it Then you tell you're telling the woman to do the stuff she's doing. There are fucking like repercussions to that ship. Man, mentally, like if its people's heads up. So you what doing with that ship because you're telling them to go on the call and you're saying, don't funk with nobody with me. So when every time every emotion she goes through is coming to you.
So let me ask you something. After they do that they give you the money, do you have to make them feel like your girlfriend? Like they gotta feel up, you gotta do they go, You gotta do this ship. It's a lot of ship. Like if you want to really actually your chick, if you want to be a boss pam you have to be focused. That's what you do. I've never heard this term because you say boss pamp. Yeah, that means you're in control. You want to on a run for a while. You got you can go to
another state. But she's still You're still the boss pimper. You know. They called that long range pamper her anywhere, hold on, hold on long range paper. I heard a long rage five your hold me over there be like long range in Hawaii. You fly back to l A and you come back three months later. And she got like forty seven thousand and just be like here she did.
She didn't protected the money, she didn't protected herself and now, now, do you have to have sex with these women or you just you could just so this this is where I get sucked up. Bring it down for me short, because I'm gonna let just called it the lame miss. Now. I've always considered myself to be a pimp and a player. I do have the pimp game, but I don't want
what is the difference with piper a player player? You just you got the game to just run a bunch of chicks, but you don't want any interest in their money or them selling that you're just a player. Okay, get money, you're getting You're getting salad. Actually yeah, okay, So I consider myself to be a pimper player. Man, it's just like you know, I don't really Yeah, we don't have to. Um sure, I'm not gonna lie. You made me pop my collar like seventeen hundred times. I'm
gonna keep popping. We'll put that. You know, if you got to really get a lot of games just playing back, listen to it. It's you know the game in there, like you really studying it goes by Mary my Mama's I'm a lame. I'm sorry, but but in my trying to be a pimp, like every time I go to sleep, like, yeah, I'm gonna try to. But we are we are always students of life. We are get down, always learning, were
always learning. You know what I was gonna tell you by my Puerto Rican just in case you thought I was Dominican. But it's okay. It's a New York story. Many in New York. Let's do it, Let's do it. But I was, you wouldn't baby Dominican reproblic I had a little of New York too. I had a little running with them with the hip hop. Holy sniggers, hit me, hit me up in a taxi, abs and and just they had like we had to strap in the car and we gotta like a little answer week. We used
to go up to him. We used to go up to the candy shop in Harlem and you know get they got called it the candy shop. We know what, Yeah, and the jaws or in the motherfucker try and go bang and look at my man, Eddie, God bless today. You know he died. Eddie looked first off, let me just let me just stop too short right now. He just fossed onto everybody on a real New York and this is the in the real New York Times. He just mentioned Branson. What you say daytime in Branson, Eddie Eddie,
that's who run the spot. That was my nigger continuous story. So you know, we we we're riding around the ship and the niggas pull us over and these sucking taxi cabs, none of them got on uniforms, sucking up, flashing badges and ship. They actually take us out, put us. It's four niggas in the truck. They put each of us in a different cab. And I get in there, like three niggas in each cab. They jumped in my truck.
Drive the motherfucker and we go to like some thirty seven street precincts, some ship somewhere every six thirty seven and and uh and then and they get ended up basically, and they ended up at a center street that one street down there, and I passed by a you was in the reel. That's the first first off, right now, if they lock you up up there, they have a preaching that they bring you to. That means that back in the days, they had to lock you up up
there and bring you own. So, yeah, we're in there. Listen about a day and a half on the day. Then they got built out little later. But I walked by this one holding tank and I've seen these jet jet black ass niggers, like black ass nappy head niggas in and they're all speaking Spanish. And now this was like that ship weird to me, the funk out I didn't know. I thought they was black. I didn't, I didn't. Yeah, on the West coast, on the West coast, we got
no nappy heads, don't have many. You don't see much yesterday, but yesterday's black under me. I'm saying, we don't have nappy head niggass, right, So I get back up, I get out of jail, I go up to drive records. I was like, I've seen the weirdest ship in jail. Speak Spanish here the Dominicans. That's too short, making goddamn hold on. After that, after that, I made a point, I said, I'm gonna meet some of these Spanish niggas, like for real. I meant that the Dominican niggas right
at the gas chation and they popped at me. Up some man, we know you made me too short. You know, random ship that happens in New York I don't get spotted a lot back then, back to day in New York, and uh, they said that they got to get weed, and they sent me up to um. I don't know, man, I just you know, you get And then basically, if I wasn't going to Branson, I was going up there, but I smoke New York. Last listen, let me tell you something. This this is now listen. Listen. Well he
just broke down for you. There's people in New York who couldn't get weed and Branson because you had to have a certain type of plot and to be accepted. You have to be accepted in Branson. One time I went in Branson, Red Man was back there serving the weed. That man. Make some noise for red Man. Damn it on. Sometimes you took me there, I was out, you know. I'll tell you one time I went to Branson. I'm gonna keep it real with you, too short. It's one
of my idols. It's gonna hurt me to tell a story, but I'm gonna tell the story. I went up there. It's the Puerto Rican bree. I'm Puerto Rican. Sorry, I'm half Puerto Rican. But I'm just giving you. But you know, yeah, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. So but this day I'm Puerto Rican, right, So I go to Brant and I bought my ship. Bobby Brown pull up in the six hundred bens. To me, it was like Prince when he pulled up, purple smoke pulled out. It
was a six DNS. I was like, damn, like you know, I know niggas got six hundred beans is, but I ain't actually seen it. Bobby Brown pulls up, right, bro ts, what's something nigg So he pulls up boom, Bobby Brown boss up. So he goes in Branson. I'm sitting there like, oh ship, Bobby motherfucking Brown. He looked at me though, he looked at me like a miss, like like I'm right here. He looked at me like this, and then
he goes in Braston. Right. I'm like, damn, Nickas just like you to say, like, I don't know the dig eyes right next to my Chad. Right, Bobby Brown comes out and then he goes, yo, it's the Portagan Day parade, right, I think me pun Joe, we all on the float this day, but I had took a break afterwards. I finished what we had to do. When I went up town and then Bobby Brown said to me, this is mad racist, by the way, he said for me the racist. He said to me, ain't you Puerto Rican? He said yeah,
he said, you ain't got no cold coin. It was like, happens because you got You gotta realize in New York City, if you're from New York City, it's a cup. There's a couple of us here. When the port we parade shut down, like uptown to the right, it's shut down too, because they all over there. And so when they went there, I guess Bobby went there. He couldn't He couldn't get nothing from the coke spy. So he said you ain't you ain't your Puerto Rican? And I'm like yeah, He's like,
take me over there. I was like, damn, why why do you think I could get you to coke because of Buerto Rican? Let's make some noise your body bround for being a wash that got bad. There's a positive side of that story. This was here. The positive. I mean, he's who is he with? He was with his security? Okay, well, I know I know the nigga sometimes to be like without security with that same bands riding up in any motherfucking head. Bobby takes a certain cloth to be that
kind of nigga, to be that kind of nigga. You know what I'm saying. You said, come on, we would have went with you. Yeah. Yeah, I'm luckily I did because which is my hero? Like you know, I'm younger because I'm younger at this Brown, listen, we need if we had him, wherever you at, we need you too, Shortest in the head man, I'm telling the Bobby is a classic man, He's a classic. He's always be my nigga. I remember with Jarro was actually from the video um uh when Jah and Brown and I Actually I was
in l A. He was at that video. No, I wasn't not The video was video the Ecstacy videos. Exstacy was ruling ship at one point. Let's white girl go listen, short man, I really appreciate you for coming out in a great sport. Are you gonna dread the champagne with us? And I keep it hard? You keep Paul? What are you doing? What is that my time? For? Now? We might we switched this a little. This is little raguls. We switched. I want to have a one with short
excuse me, wrong, shot outside ball. You know you got you got the other rout wet that's my brother. We gotta shot a slottle pope man for making this happen. Can we get two buckets and pineapples because I gotta have a drink with uh um? She got close to pinteapple like apple. Alright, it works for me. So too short man. You've been coming to Miami for a long time,
with Miami to you know Luke Stories, no to life. Yeah, Luke Man, I've been on I've been on the goddamn Luke's Peep Show twice me Back and the how Can I Be Downdays? But how did you feel with Luke? They try to parent your vis with him because you had to be right behind him. If they would have did that to you know, did that to you? You know, just like you said, you see me walking through smooth. I walked through that ship, real smooth. They never came
nucking at my door. They w ain't they sucking get up boys. They were laughing and they never royal. They never holloed at me. I don't even make some noise for too short for escaping. Never I couldn't remember. They never like what's what's the chick name that that two she was? She was she was trying to shut everybody and never had my name on the least. They were talking about the ship I was doing, which if they would have passed some laws, they probably would have affected me.
But I don't know what to think about this. What do you think about the fact that that ship could have actually happened. Would if it have been like we lived in the country where they said you can't custom your rap songs have been crazy? It would have been like existed. We would have never assisted. I would have never That's how I think about it. It would have been like blueleg and liquor. We would have been out there in the streets slinging dirty raps. It would have
been more expensive, maybe make more money it. It would have been money that like the prohibitions straight up. Welcome to play a new podcast network featuring radio and TV personalities talking business, sports, tech, entertainment, and more. Play it at play dot It. We're back to Drink Champs Radio with Rapper and or DJ. Then and you Still, I just like to ask you this question before we wrap it up. Still actually love this life? I swear to God you see to this face. Man, you still like
did you? You never fell in love with this life for I don't love Excuse me, I'm gonna tell you like this, man, I ain't really like to fun with the jail and all that. Like you. You just came home like I was only jail five weeks. Neiggo make some noise for you still go to jail, but you're still going to you Okay, you know what I didn't. I didn't go to jails, young nigga. I was. I was.
You went to jails grown as man, and how I was your bunkies there had to be like too short watch out too short at Yeah, you gotta go look my nigga. Up the nigger that was next to me. Uh, he's a he's got a high profile case in l A. They called the grim Sleeper. That doesn't even sound right. It sounds dangerous. Just breakdown the grand sleep extremely like brother intelligent, talk to you the dangerous guy whatever. The guy's respectful. How to cook with just some hot water
and ship? You know you know what I mean? We we wasn't. I was in with the celebrity ship though, where you can't at you know, Nick, Nick can't actually was up on you and ship right, I I was just chilling. But talk about that guy. Don't get up. He's I just gave you and and and he helped. He was in It was on me. He was on me because he was because he was high profile. Yeah, yea, that's where the high profile person. That's what I was saying that I was in the same spot sugar Knight
was that previously for me to getting there. There was a room with suk Knight. Try to sign you at one point, should try to sign everybody. Tell me about that short before you leave from the bay too. Yeah. Yeah. They put me in the jail with Chris Brown. Was that the ship that was in that jail. It was just chilled jilin the TV right, Frenk and Sell, you know, just nobody with you. But sug Knight came to me like he came to everybody else. You know, I'm doing
my own thing. I'm independent. You know, I've never I've never had a boss. I've never been signing nobody. And he just said, um, he said, the West Coast is he said, death Row is home to the West Coast. It's like, I'm like, you know, you knew it was going to. He's like, he's like, man, come on over the death I'll get you off job. Come on, just said that one more time. How you said it? Come on, come on over the death row. He said, come on
over to the death Rock. So you know I'm not a scary nigga, because I was the real nigga that we have no reason to be scared. And then, um, I'm a smart nigga. But where's this. We're in a fucking nightclub in Atlanta and wait, we shore was in Atlanta and you was running Atlanta at that time. Because usually I was a factor in the city. I wasn't. Okay, come on over to the death roll. Yeah, and it wasn't me. It wasn't me. In a bully he was
saying that ship like two niggs talking. He was like, you know, actually a cool dude that he was being. I could see it that it was like a push kind of because then I actually kind of probably put a little weight, like you know, he didn't didn't. It wasn't no kind of threat, but he kind of like I felt a little weight. But I think it was like at the time he said it, so it's kind of pushing up on me a little bit, but in a friendly kind of way. And I just said, I
was like, man, I ain't trying. I ain't trying to wrap no more. Man, I'm starting to leg what about to do my labor. That's where I'm at right now. I ain't trying to wrap no more. But you know, it was like nineteen nineties five or some ship. It's because I also heard jay Z try to sign you too. Now that Jay never tried to sign j J just was I was coming to do some work with him.
Oh yeah, so that that room was false. He never tried to sign I probably would have probably probably would have went that route because just you know, just to be around. They respect you like a mother. Everybody respect you. Short. Just in case you don't know, let me let me just let me just tell you you are well respected, well connected. We love you. On the East coast to the West coast round man down south. You are a guy who laid out the platform for all of us
to do it. You're still as cool as hell. I can't believe how cool you are. It was a motherfucker. I'm gonna be honest. When the interview is over, I'm just gonna ask you how can I be as cool as you? That's all I want to do, Like I want to ask you because you're the coolest guy. You're like how you do that? And you still love the game. I gotta keep asking you in different ways, like why would you were the guy to say selling? Man? I
told you. I used to be in the studio with the o G my first studio experience with some old professional niggas. And these niggas had some of them, you know, was in it, some of them that came and went and you know that they talked about the days and they toured the world and it was in the band or whatever, and the niggas said, um. One of the niggas was one of the members of the Dramatics. He was one of the niggas, but he was one of
the niggas that got kicked out the group. And he experienced a few hit records and and you know, the nigga tour and then and then the ship left him and he was like, man, he was like, dude, whatever you do. He was like, he said, I feel like you're gonna be somebody. He was like yeah, he was like, whatever you do, you make it. He said, don't forget to have fun. And I kind of like took that ship life. I just kind of like took that ship and kind of adapted it in my own way that Okay,
we're going on our first tour. We you know, Niggas is out there deep deeper ship because it is out there complaining, fucking you know. I mean we we we love LLL but l L used to not talk to rappers and didn't want to be friends with you. I'm talking about I don't get worry. He was from niggas, Like I don't like rappers. He wouldn't hang out. I've been on triple of that. Hell, oh my god, he would have. He had a rig so that he could get from his dress room to the stage. You couldn't
even he wouldn't even see him. He was different ways of getting there and ship. Man. But I'm just saying that. I just I was the opposite of that type of ship where I just was like, man, I'm about to go and everybody's dressing room, we're gonna smoke, We're gonna chop out. You know what I'm saying. I'm with everybody you know that's been the room about you is like tracks to do A show fifteen thousand Motherfucker's in the crowd.
I would get off stage, and then I was on tour, like the first show I went on n w A, the one in the movie straight out. Let's break that down because you can't. You're saying it very non obs but he said, it's so too cool. He said, one of the listen, listen, this is this is crazy, this set that whole era you was on that tour. I'm the group that went on right before n w A. Easy he called me, was like, let's go to you seem right there. You make me forget my story down.
He went on tour with n w WAY that that was your first you know. He was talking about how you interact with the crowd. Yeah, I'm telling I used to go on stage do my show Motherfucker's, and right after I get out stage, I grabbed one of the homies. Because you bring too many, or you bring security or something, you're gonna cause a cause of fuss. Right after the show, in between my show and n w A, I would walk through the whole crowd, lights on, walk through people.
You know, back then thinks don't have a camera phone. I think it wouldn't need to have a pen. I think you just you just would like just be like man, you know, because hey, what's up? And I just to this one I pound I just want to give you. People would say, well your security. I like you my security. He's gonna do something to me, like you know, you know Reggie m did that ship and Keith Murray man think that is security. Nothing. They just walk around any
fucking crowd. I do the same ship. I just test it out that I've never no but short you was a like a king man of a whole coast. It's different and you still to this day walk around the same way. It's because it's the love. Man, it's the love. You'd be somewhere and makes a noise for the love. Let's makes your noise for the love. Hey, you'd be somewhere and somebody said, hey, man, you did you did something. Something. You made a song with my little brother and something something,
just you made a song with my little brother. Something random mass rappers somewhere, niggas like nigga, all these nigs over here, these my niggas. You're getting here because I made a song with his little brother. Right, so we get that night. Now you've always been good, Mr Lloyd. I don't know what kind of well, I don't know what kind of deal you made regard but listen, I don't I don't care where neighborhood is. That it's the pay for philosophy. Man, you gotta pay you. But you
learned a lot of ship in life. But I'm just talking about the knowledge. I'm talking about material things. I'm just talking about the knowledge. You got to give it to everybody who deserves it. Man, you learned a lot of ship. I feel like niggas could have gave me a lot of you know, short cuts couldn't helped me when I was a young nigga. You know they didn't help you, So you now you want to help other people. Yeah, but you know if some people didn't help you, gotta
you're gonna have this live and learn ship. Everybody got to go through their journey, but help niggas. Then this fact came a little bit. I think we gotta make noise for help niggas. Help niggas, help motherfucking niggas. Man, listen, and you know what's short. You're such a great guy, yo. When you was on job, I believe you called me. I did a record with you for your album. Correct, I forget what's the name of the album? I forget that's what it has on point trying to hold on
with my job. Wasn't that you can't funk with us? Who was on there with He just came on to care So you just like sucking with street niggers because how did you know the funk with me? Because I was a foul nigger at that time? You still I might have been I might have been plotting hum, but
I was a foul nigger at the point. The point of the song was nigga nigga who are reptable in their own are right, that's just And it was like, you know because I was so I was, I was so honest, but I was like, do he know him? Because you can might shoot somebody without leaving. You can't make a statement. You can't sunk with us if there's no us you have you knew man, knew what you do. And then Pete Poblo did the jail time like this is I know in North Carolina where he's from, the
city rides with them. That's the city I have. I've done concerts like you know, you go to a city probably like I don't have two hour driving where you're from. I've done concerts and took them. They're all of Oakland with me. We show up a thousand deep and they're like, uh, you know, we're all coming in, motherfucking we do They still do that of this day? Yeah, we did this day this day. I'm a father nigger like that. They
asked me how many that guy be? Like four? And then when I show up it would be like like I said for I said for four hunters, like yeah, but too short, man. I can't thank you enough. So I'm coming out sitting down, you know, being a great sport about it. All this is about is just hip hop fans getting to understand and and and and hear these stories. But before you go, I want to say, how did you and eat forty? Everhead ook up because he's another yeah forty and because that's that's still your
younger Homi. Yeah, I a little I got about a couple forty and his brother d Shot was in the game. They were treat niggas and you know, they dabbled, they they moved some way around. So that that's what that will mean. Learned something today. Let's makes ar something today, goddamn it. But I probably did a little more than Land. That was just damage, just playing. I was just trying to be a PC alright, ok. So um, they actually used to do business with my niggas who I wrote
with to this day. My nigga niga is my niggas. They was they was Yxta's getting money together. So there's a thing in the bay where you kind of um, you know, we we're over here in Oakland, thirty miles over in Valetoff these Valetot niggas and these Oakland niggas is like, all right, we're gonna get down together. Then you got a city like Richmond, and yeah, so Richmond Nigga and Oakland nigs is like really funk with each other.
No gangship, but it's just like we're just a little too wild to be friends because it never it never turns out good y'all too wild to be friends with us. We two out, so we kind of try to either avoid each other or it's just it's just it's just mani mani actions. So um. So valleto Nigga and Oakland nig has always been like kind of like sister city type ship. So we niggas fun with us, and E forty was my homie forever and ever and ever and ever. But we never made songs together. We just we were
just homies. We're the same. We see each other, the clicks, everybody know each other, all these little brothers. I know his sister, I know the whole ship. Before we have made a song. And we did a concert one of those radio stations, Summer Jams, Summer Jam, Summer Jam, and the niggas. Um they had, uh you ever heard the loonies. Okay, so the loonies had, of course, loonies, my homies, my young homies. They come from the cloth man, they come
from what I'm what I'm from the trinkle Down. The game the niggas put out their records was my homies, they love flag, he said to trinkle Down that was. I don't know what that means, but I'm gonna take it. They come from that. So um. So the Loonies had this song. I was called player hater, and they say they was mad at me about this whole story. I can't tell you. They was mad at me on some on some inside ship, and they said some ship about me.
The song. They said, that's why the town got rid of short And they said it a year after I moved to Atlanta. So they insinuated and started this little buzz that maybe the Loonies was like, nigga, you gotta move out of town. Nigga, you can't be in Oakland no more. There's some ship. So I'm in Atlanta, having the time of my life, still mad as fucking this bullshit. So the radio station is holding what would be the
hot ninety seven Summer Jazz. It's one of those, one of those six in Atlanta and in uh In in Oakland, in the Bay it's it's a K one on six summer Jam. And I'm I'm the nigga who the radio station came to when they first started doing summer Jam and said, hey, we need to like get some urban support. Can you be on the show. And I'm like, coo, I'm with you. So I'm like feeling like this kind of the supposed to be my friends. I helped these niggas.
But there's a rock station turned into an urban station, and they asked niggas like me, can you come and help us? Went over the community. So I'm like that should means something. And they played this record and put in the rotation where it said that's why the town got rid of short one line and yeah, and I'm like, I'm like a nigga like this. I'm like, nigga, you don't it's not it's not it's zero disrespect. It's not gonna happen. It's just not. We don't walk away from
this ship. I'm not gonna rap about you. So, nigga, something's gonna happen. So I called the radio station. I was like, yeah, I'm coming to the concert. They didn't want me on the show. Of course. They told me, you know, I moved to Atlanta. We kind of like supporting the local artists and ship you moved away. So I'm like, I just want to come to see the show. They gave me four sticker passes. Nigga. We rolled up there about sixty niggas, four niggas in, one nigga out,
four more niggas in, one nigga out. He came up with three passes. Three yeah. Side. Before they realize what had happened, we sixty East Oakland niggas in the concert. No othensation. Were just in there, nigga, and we've been we're being real cool. We ain't got no problem, but it's sixty niggas, sixty grimey niggas, and I'm requesting ship. I'm like, Nigga, I need for y'all to walk me out on the stage and tell the crowd. Me and the Looney's gonna tell the crowd it ain't nune but loved,
and we just it just had to happen. And they was like, oh, we're gonna do this and this and this and that, and they wouldn't do it. And I'm like the loonies was with it. They have the little homies. They they talked to your mouth. They walked up to us and they was like, man, what we gotta do whatever? The concert people wouldn't wouldn't let it happen. I'm like,
we gotta kill this motherucking ship. Ain't nobody tell him what The Loonies is my enemies and we've running away and we're gonna just walk out and just say it's just love. That's all I wanted to tell the people. And it was like, no, I wouldn't do it. So we we said that let me let us how the manager, the manager nigga, my nigga sees my nigga is my homie, and we went in this back room were supposed to be hollering, and one of the concert promoters, we're back there,
and then the ship get out of hand. Thinks lumped up the Looney's manager a little bit, and we didn't know this is what was going through. So then they got lumped up and curled all up and ship and all this ship and it wasn't even really asked for. It was just like a blue blue blue Mr bullshit. So we walked out. Now we got the mob. The mob is not satisfied. They like kind of hungry. And then we walked through the crowd and we're just like, we're not doing nothing to nobody, but we're just not
happy and we're kind of moving around. And then just we went and we went and took a little section and then you know, you could make niggas like to take their ship. We took a little section. We're gonna watch the next act. Somebody come on the scene. And then everybody that was just the powers that be just didn't like what they saw. They just didn't like it that they just it was just nervousness, and they canceled the show. They canceled. Like the last two acts they canceled.
It must have been like the Isley Brothers and E forty forty was headlining, had never met was home. We was home and they canceled the show. E forty has spent like maybe like you know, a lot of grip on some special show he was gonna do with the big show of the summer, and they canceled him. And they went and totally, nigger, we canceled you because it's too short. Mind you weren't We wasn't fighting, We wasn't mobby,
weren't people. We just we just kind of like did the little thing in the back back area and left watching the show. But they're nervous that they couldn't control this ship. But you guys had not met E forty prior to wrap. I knew forty before we was wrapped. I know why. We early days, the early days, we was just like what's up. Like it wasn't back in the day, niggas didn't wrapped together exactly. It's like a record with you weren't That wasn't even an idea. We
just was what's up and we hang out whatever. We was tied a little bit with his little brother. That's my niggat, my niggas. No these shots for the click, they was in the click. So Monday morning comes the radio station. The show was probably like Saturday or Sunday. Monday morning comes the radio station does a fake caller pretended to be too short, and the nigga calls up. It's like, nig nigga, niggas didn't want to let me on stage. Nigga, I don't given it was forty one
house and short, don't get on stay no way. The niggas calling talking ship on the morning show phone start this way was probably going by then, Okay, cool, and they're doing this joke. But at the same time, it's a bit down there. That's the program director or something. This bitch is sending out factors and emails saying too short is violent Bannon nigga from Wrap and don't ever play his music, all kinds of ships. So I'm like trying to blackball. So I'm like, I'm taking this ship personal.
Then then the fucking phone rings. I don't even know the ship was on the air. I don't even know. E forty called me. He was like, Nigga, was you on the radio? This morning. I'm like, no, nigga. He's like, Nigga, you didn't do to say such something. I'm like no, man. So the niggas like we stand up niggas. Nigga said, so you're telling me you didn't all the radio sing and say, I said, Nigga, I don't know. He said, okay, and then he started spending the game to theft. He's
a real game, that nigga. So he started spending like the radio stations trying to play games with us, blah blah, this and that. He's like, man, these folks, you know, we start talking about how much money he spent on his set. They didn't get into the show, and they personally told him it's too short fall. He was like, man, we're not finn turnus in the name because we know who we are. Your niggas mind niggas. We know we're not gonna do that. He said, let's get in the
studio and make some music. We made a song called rappers Ball, and it's like it was like a big record for that's the first record we ever made, and big city, big record for the Bay. Yeah, it was. It was huge and it went everywhere and and basically the ship of of of you know, corporate type structure of motherfucker's in the office room. Trying to play some real niggas against each other kind of made us tighter than we've ever been, and we kind of we were
we were cool as fun. But after that, we made record after record after record. We started talking on the phone every other day. Were kind of like walking each other through each other's albums and ship. Niggers don't know, we was on drive and we never really dropped in the same quarter. So we would be like both we'd
be critiquing each other's albums while we're making them. I'm like, yeah, you're feeling hit him hard and hell yeah, like and then I'm listening to him going, shoot, I gotta get there and go hard because about to knock me off, you know. So we kind of being friends and competitors, we kind of held each other down on keeping it keeping that ship hardcore, Like like wow, real, So before we get up out of here, was you in the
session with Big when you made the record? When the Rimmys in my system, ain't no telling that I was in the room. I was in the room, and it was in the room. Yeah, that's when the legs was hurting. Should he be sitting down and wrapping and ship? Hell? Yeah? And then how about with Jay did y'all sitting up session? I did that session with Jay. It was all good. Just a week ago I did that ship Um, I did the other song I re member. I was on Uh, real niggas do real things, all all the words. I
was on that show. He really wanted Scarface on that song. And and back then the niggas, Uh, it was that ship where the niggas just love Tupacs so much. It was like you g K and Nick. Certain thing is they love Tupacs so much. They're like, man, I ain't work with nobody from New York. I just it was just it was, let me stop you right there. We love short New York. He's trying to be humble right now. He humble, But look, I used to be tellings like this. Man.
I talked to the niggas car phase all the real talk. Back in the day. I'm like, nigga, go to New York. It's gonna take your career to a new level. Them niggas funk with you, and we didn't, we didn't know. Somebody had to tell you. I say, pass it on, I didn't know, nig i'me on the elevator and then Nigga bell hoops saying, I ain't never heard of you, man, why why you got on jury? Like? Who was you said? I'm too short? And now I saw the million records.
And then the bell have the building, I mean Hotel New York and they're like, no, you didn't wow never I never heard you saw the big records. So this is a crazy ship. Is you know what what side of you telling? Because we always felt like, you know, we showed y'all love. And I told the bell man Nigga got two shows. A big daddy came that. Nigga said, now I know you're like and you did do shows? Yeah, shows, okay, crazy, Wow,
this markey is my nigga. Man, that's my my homie, like talking a lot of my fuckers, Jam James, my nigga. That's my nigga, Like, yeah, that's crazy. Way back when it was God bless him, God bless him. Your two show got the craziest stories. Man, we just make let's make some noise for two children man coming out, hang it out. I was there, you were there. I told you. I just turned fifty, nigg I know some ship kres One told us he turned fifty and he put on
a Peak card. You got a car, and see what kind of Let me let me see what kind of call you guys, Let me see you kind of You know, we need sunny here, we're sunny ye cannabis car. Goddamnit, Look at that. Look at that. Let's make some noise too. Shot up being a super smoker. I shouldn't shure. This is little. I can't thank you so much. Man, Listen, I could never repay you for this because I don't know. Um,
if people understand what this is. There's people from the Bay Area, there's people from South Central, there's people from New York. They all want to know your story. And right now, I mean in the hip hop way when I say they know your story. But in the hip hop way, we're not journalists. We don't google ship. We sit there conversation. I'm gonna be honest, I don't know the Google, but I do really get the point site just figure that out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's it. That's it.
But and and we sit here with hip hop legend. We had carerest one sitting right there. This is it's correct. The right there carocon is right there. And once some more drive records. He was on drive. We got Q tip that's coming to the drive records. So I'm bringing it up dog rest in peace, the five girl and Um, I can't thank you enough, my brother. I really appreciate this. I was so excited. My brother d j F and told me. He said, yo, man, you know what I'm saying.
Two shoulders coming. And I don't know if you felt it when he was on the phone, but I kept going like this heard it? Where did that come from? Short? Because every time I hear your name, I keep popping my collar. Is that cool? Yeah? That's a that's that's that's a gesture. That's a gesture. So you like every time if we're not look if I'm in UM, like if I'm in like Tucson, Arizona and they say you wanted too short, um, Ribs or the US like this, Yeah you're good, I'm good. I'm good to wear suits
and ship. Man, they really used to pop their collars, so they they had collars you don't have. I didn't
know where the popping collar came from. So you had these certain characters that they the whole time they're talking to you, like they get so clean, just like you know, man, when I was doing this, just like this is not just and they just popping and it's just like what kind of style you got, Like they got ordered and they talked like that the whole time they're talking to you, when they getting terriorted or after they tell why the niggative walk up talking to you. Niggas talking past like
my nigga, my nigga, you know you me short? Get me right? Am I doing the correct when I'm doing it? A popular color? You got the one hand pop together. Let me look at you, let me see you do it. You really got to be wearing a college shirt though you gotta pop your collar. You call it man, you man short. Let me tell you something that I told you. I come from a different cloth and thing is what I come from. The finesse niggas who don't know you don't necessarily have to do a lot of exterior because
you're sitting there quietly. You told a bit what to do and you're just sitting there. Point you don't. You don't have to brag on it, you feel me? Yeah, So it's it's I had married those kind of cats. I took on that that style of just not but do they pop they call you kind of don't you don't do the loud, you don't rhyme, you don't rhyme, you don't dress too loud. You just kind of like you run that game and you so short. If I could be a temporary pen before, like one day, could
you coach me? I've been telling you all day, I think, said Anthony. You know I'll keep you all to telling out on man. When the bitch chose me, I didn't know what to do after that. I was like, oh, ship, but does the chick ever pimp the dude the jiggerlo that happen? You will never become a boss pimp unless a bit turns you out first. You can think anything you want. But she got confused. I'm Mary, Let's go
like this. You never pimp the hole before, and you're gonna and you're gonna turn the misch out for the first time. So she just getting turned down. You just getting turned out? Y'all. Huh, what y'all gonna do together? Who never held the pimp? Who never pimp? Somebody got to get you that game. You got to go get your feet with the best time. Let's make some those to be in school. That is really thick. That is really the best time you ever gonna get. This is
the first you gone. You might get a little junior house. She'd like, I do it for you. She might be around junior fuming around the So you're gonna knock another You're the new young pimp. You're the new young pamp. You're gonna knock an another niggas bit you've been getting it. She coming over. You're like this, bitch I've been having. Ain't never hold like this. You got a super hole down and you're like, oh ship when once you got a super hoo and you adapt, you can't go read
some of these books. Man, You and you sit there and you you ain't never letting her know that you can't hang with her. But you're pimping your way into it. The next hole you get, you're gonna be harder and harder and harder. Like you know, you learn some ship from that super how you learn That's why you know those teaching to dude when you had the junior home and he was like, she bring me a little something.
Now you got a super hool, you like every hole after that, you like, do you fucking know what how it is? That's why he gave me a famous player card. I wanted to give it back. I said, you guys are complicated. This is very complicated. But your lifestyle is very hard style. But the famous player card is not a famous pimp card. It's just for the players, man, because they all know it's a difference. They all know. Don't really be out there trying to pimp house and ship.
I don't. I never sadn't you should just prom this same polder still come. Guess what happens when you're too short. I mean, I'm at the club in Las Vegas, hanging with my folks at the table. The bitch walks up to me and hands me like eighteen hunter and said you're the reason why I'm hoping and walked away. She
didn't tell her motherfucker name. I didn't even see what she gave me, so she was out of sight, and look, I was like, nigger, bit, just walk me through the hand to be this, And then what did you do the seventeen hunter? Let's keep it rare. We bought that. We're just we're spending. We came back to keeping it getting back to the man. She never introduced her name. I couldn't tell you what her Facebook. I couldn't never tell you. I don't even know. I don't know. Let
me tell yourself. We got the legend too short in here. We're gonna she paid it back to the game, not trying to pimp into the pyman came to me, wants to pivocating to me, I know what to do with the off and then pivoting like, you give me your bit, don't do you? I say, not anybody. It's enough not to know to give them my bitch, anybody that's listening. So I gave it a bit to like, I gave it a bit to like, um, like to see or something.
And then I'm sorry, anybody that's listening, just remember this. Don't don't listen to ship about some pimp rules and ship and yeah, I think you're gonna wake up and trying to be a pimp. It's not something that you do. It's not something that you adapt the lifestyle. You know, just like anything you do, you become an expert. You know, it's just it's in you. It's in you, ye right now. I love the art of it. But it's not in me.
I don't have the pimp powers passion that you see me for hip hop the music in the last show, and I don't have that passion for pimping. But you had the passion more for hip hop than pimper. I love the art of the pimp game. It's a beautiful thing. If you you know what is the best profession after pimping, if you've been a pimp? Rapping? No? Hell no, what what I'm saying, thank you? That's what most pimps they start. Yeah. Preachers, Yeah, yeah, you got You got to listen to the level of
hustlings being as owning the church. That's the last level of I'm not laughing. I'm not laughing at Christianity. I'm laughing that preacher listening us last hustle is being a preacher. I'm just telling you that the preacher's pimping his congregation. Who gives a fuck? That's the last level of I got that. Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna put you another way. Now, Let's say, throughout your life, the way you learned how to be a pimp was that you figured I have
the gift the gap. You told that to yourself. The gift to Gap is your main weapon, and pimping, unless you're grill with him, sounds like is the punch of facing the big as you as you stare in the ugly face of pimping you see a fucking hole die on the job or some ship murdered or junkie hole overdose, is just the bitch life get sucked off and she ended up in prison you never see again, like you know, just the the ugly side of the ship, the ship that the ship that sucks you up in the head
because you've seen how you took this little innocent girl who was a waitress, and you see what she ended up being, and you're like, damn, how am I in the eyes of God if I did this to her? And you start feeling like a sucking monster, like it ain't for everybody in the long run. So what do you do? You you fucking step to the light and you go to the church and you start really realizing that damn, I've been walking the wrong path. And then you end up being a fucking preacher later. But the
main thing is why are you a good preacher? Because from day one you had to give the gap. It ain't like if if a pimp turn preacher, he's not he's not being wicked, or he's not. He might just really had went that path where he looked at that ugly ship and he went the other way. Some of them might be wicked. Yeah, it might be, but I'm just saying that this money, I don't want to be just a ship where it real ship, though that ship gets uggly. I I know a church boy right now
that pimped his ass off. And the only reason he's a church boy because it's because when he saw Pivin fucked him up. Let's make some noise for the ship that sucked him up. Yo, yo, just want to followed just claiming on this up. I'm not gonna lie. If you listen to two shorts, you get pimp tomorrow. Just listen. I funked up when the like listen, it's a horrible pimple Like I went and I said, you gotta choose to lose, said I chose, she chose me. I was like, oh, ship,
what did I do from here? What do I do from here? And I was fucked up? Pimp juju pim mckinn uh, but you're done. They was all trying to not. I was holding it down because I was like, they can't not my bis because I see I've seen the documentaries. So I was like, I'm not going to knock my bitch. But as soon as I left, I just left alone and that was it, so I knew I can. There's two things you gotta do to establish You have to you have to get a choosing feet, and you have
to at least send me a choosing feet. And what is that? That's when she paid you to be with you, So you mean to tell me soon as she chose me, I said, I said, bitch at pay a lot of PIM said the bar kind kind of kind of steep if you asked me, I don't know. They're like, you know, it's like five ten racks. I heard five X. I could have got. I could have got if you could have got a sign the short start to see your phone, man, want to change numbers. I was playing the wrong game
for a long time. Yeah you're sure. Thank you so much for being a great sport and going down here having us. Man look a little I'm just saying, it look like I had Carroson right there. It looked like you're drinking on my tie. It's not it looks like Yo, sure, thank you so much, my brother. Easy on the pimping, y'all, easy on the No, you're gonna responsibility like I want to. I'm gonna pimp. I'm gonna pimp, like pip your dogs first before you go up. After that, I'm gonna I'm
gonna pimp like in my mind. I'm gonna have Short run me through it in my mind and then maybe no, I'm never gonna try. I'm never gonna try. But at least at least Short taught me tak you Short, man. I really appreciate it. Man. Every time my person say bitch, how did that happen? Before we get out of her word, I showed you. I had a rap partner, Freddie b. So we tried to do everything that the streets do,
and the streets was doing a lot of drugs. So we used to do these little skits before the songs are just like either acting like gangsters or just slick talking things. And one of the skids we used to do was, uh was about to say this chick um she was a be So we pretended like like we're smoking crack cocaine. But wait, wait, but this was not crack back but the crack cocaine at one point that was not crack. We sprinkled a little bit in the joints. But now we're not gonna hit the point you did
hit the huge Did that should tastes good? It was? It was crazy. Don't let it take you down. But look at that stuff so dirties back then, it wasn't When we was wrapping it the early eighties, it wasn't crack. It was called freebasing, and it was only it was only fly people did that. He was if he was showing off rich, motherfucking you free base. That was the ship that burned rich and that that was that was in the pipe, or that was that It was the same thing. It was the same thing as a crackhead.
It was smoking the pipe. But when it first came out, it came out as an elegant thing that only rich people did. Hey we're about to go smoke. It was like, this is the upgrade from cocaine rich people. Free basing was something that people openly said, we're freebasing, but cracking something when you turn to a crackhead. That was the same fucking ship. But it just had a different, different
time and era. So we used to mimic Freemason. So we would sit there and be like, you know, the bitchry like hit, I hit this baby, like you know the tape is about to come on, the music coming on. We're doing the skip for it. Come on like this, hit and hit and say like I wannafuck choking ship and then uh, like, bitch, you're hitting, you're smoking too much.
And then uh and then my man like somebody being there doing the girls waste or whatever, and then and then it shouldn't be like like like bits like that's where the god we did that skits for crack making making up the bed, crack, cocaine gets something world get so many times that the bitch just keep getting longer and longer and longer until it was just like bit and is that your favorite word? It really is my favorite.
Look at this, they're got a rude awaken it up, because I wouldn't looked at some old dollar miite movies wait for you, but you're doing a hip hop. You are the You're the king, the first pamper hip hop. You're the first person that made us proud to be who you are will you want to be? We want to salute you, too short. Let's still say that we love you. We want to say that we want to keep continue, and you look the same. You ain't aging. We are saluting you, my brother. You know a great guy.
We love you. Drink champs, love you definitely, and we're gonna root some champagne. I've been drinking you hard. Look, I know you're a parent. You know this podcast. We don't keep it going. I'm never alright, always almost almost get into this night like man, too short, thank you for coming to drink chaps. I'm sorry, I don't know. I just keep coughing for no. Thank you too, sure, ain't stop coughing. Hit the way again. It's like your TV shop yesterday. What happened on my TV show yesterday?
Oh yo? We had scared faces, faces like I'm in Miami, nigga. I'm like, yeah, we just we just got off the cruise. Face bluke. We was all on this cruise. Hi five five Yo'll take you so much, stain
