we have the legend legends legends in the building. We have people who I personally grew up listening to idolizing, trying to dress like them, trying to be like them, you know what I mean, trying to be shocked like them, trying to be smart like them. These guys have still and they still heavy on the internet. You've seen them all the time. They out there. We got two of them. I was hoping to have the all three, but we got to and we ma we're gonna give the other.
We're gonna still praise the other brother like like he's here and right now one my talking about motherfucker. Brand New Beer is in the building, man, Brand New Bey. Y'all all from New Roshell, Yes, Okay, originally born in the Bronx. Okay, both born in the Bronx, grew up in Nerve Shell. I believe puba was born in nershell, grew up in nerves shell. Okay, so how did y'all how did this start? How did this um y'all get together and say I'm gonna be a three man group
when y'all rhyming individually? Okay, all right, put us all right. Well, basically, long story short, pub had a group called Master Ceremonies back in the days, okay, and they had like to two hits, cracked out in sexy Okay, but literally grand you know what I mean. That was the joint back then. So weever, back in those times, he started working with me as a solo artist. Then he started working with
X as a solo artist. And he was not producer or nothing like that kind of yeah, kind of instruments and all of that. Same he didn't say a little bit. He was drum programming and all of that. He the one that actually taught me how to produce, how to listen for the loops and all of that type of ship. So, you know, a long story short. I used to go
to the shows with him and all of that. In the back of my mind, I'm like, then you kick your cousin out the group I want to be because I felt like his cousin wasn't nice enough to really he was. He was a good dude. I love him, shout out doctor who, but he wasn't you know what I mean. You could tell he wasn't about that life. Really, he just was doing it. So whatever they broke up. I remember we're walking through the mall one day and he's kind of like, damn know what we should do that?
I said yeah, And I said, Yo, we need to meet you and and X. We need to make a group, so you know what I mean, because it'd be better than trying to shop three deals and all that. We just make a group on some three MC ship man word. Now. I don't know when he hit him about it, but he heard him and was like around one time eight eighties, late eighty seven eight Yeah, like who came up with that name brand Nuby. We'll see that we had a
little name us. We shot. You know, he shot for a deal with no record and no name, just because then you know, he had he had Motherfucker's Open from Sexy and cracked Out and all. Though those was big records in New York and a little bit nationally so, but he was able to call up record companies and be like, yo, it's grampooball, I want a meeting or whatever. We walk in there and no music. So we did a few of these, you know, um saying for them or something like yeah, I think we just went in
there whatever you were saying. He was the time here, a little older than us exactly. So he does. So we go to we go to Tommy Boy Rosses, did you know, and he's like, yeah, I love you. I'm like whatever you're doing, blah blah blah. He's like, but y'all, you know, I need to hear your guys or whatever. You know. He's like, so, uh, you know, make a demo or something to come back. So he was like
all right. You know. It took us like two weeks to to like scrounge up the time up at Jazzy Jay Studio, Strong City Studio up Auton Avenue in the Bronx, just chilling in the studio wait to finished their sessions. And we didn't see it for nigga feel like letting us even play records in the middlefun know, I mean, so, Mom, finally we get the song done, we go down there.
It's one song, we play the ship for him. He's like, oh, this ship is crazy and Tommy people, this is this is where at Tommy Ross was that Tommy Boy and so at that point he was like, yo, but I just got a job at Electra, Like I want to bring you all over there, like you know what the first bigger label dott A Live. We was hyped off the Tommy Boy ship. Day Soul was there at that time, like they was popping, like you know, so we was like, all right, fuck it and he was like all right,
but you know, so what's y'all's name? And you just kind of looked at Yeah, we're gonna get back to back to Strong City had a little naming fucking ship being four, So y'all knew he wanted to and he wanted some Yeah, something like positive conscious type of ship came out on the arrow where like that was kind of like the thing to do, like to be be happy to have noted or something. Yeah, but doing it
for that if you cut you off. But ain't it funny how there was actually an error where not as itself was actually and it can't be again, definitely, it can't be again. It was, but because it was like real niggas was having oledge or something like even though they was doing it boyd ship like like the street Jesus see, you would scared boy. Okay, so now y'all just your name, but they're thinking about naming yourself, and so he came up with the name up there that night,
brand new that ship still yourself. So and then you know it's crazy. It's not only that brand Nubian just sounds so like distinctive, right, but then the individual names Jamal so that X and grand Boy, like how the fund did he come up with that name? What does
that he was? He was Grandpool and max Well back in the days when we was kids like like like I said, he a little bit older than us, so so grand Pooper max Well was like a he was like a famous MC and new role before he even made records, like I know niggers that had flyers of him take to the wall and all. Like he was like Grandmaster cast of Neurshelle back in the days. You understanding at that time of cold crushing all that type of ship, you understand saying, So, yeah, that's just I
don't know how he fully got that name. I think there is a story about it, Like you know, because the flint Stones. There was a Grand poop on there, some ship with the logs or something like that. Yeah, you know it was Remember it was I remember my first thing, like when he had the flyer like he was on a man remember man Dip like Man Dipla was a main flyer person who made all them hip hop. Yeah, he was a promoter and if you your face got on one of them flyers, that got that meant something
that he got on a dip life fly. Yeah, he was on that ship and I've seen that ship. Was like okay, so now what was the first record where y'all thought it was like, man, this this is it this This was the first record that it broke out for y'all and it worked. What was the record when you knew it? I feel so good? So good? Okay, I don't remember that one. Yeah. See we had the first See they gave us a single deal and they said, if you like, if this ship goes, then we're gonna
give you an album. So we put out a record called brand New Being on the A side, and then the song called Feels So Good on the B side. Now, in the beginning, we kept getting plagued with like using the beating, other niggas using it before we get a chance to put that out, like you got you do? You know that? Don't let it go to you. Let me tell you it's a crazy ship, right. I had that on the War Report album, right, and I swear to God, this is a story. I fo compole. I
kid you not. I played the record I had on the on the joint do that beating. But what I was saying on the beat was I'm leaving on the next time. I don't know. I mean, so the ship nor we know this dot. We know that I had it on there. I had it for the War Report, right, And Tras on phone said, you know that's dope. And Trys walked to the studio and he was like, you
think you popped Daddy sampling records. It's like this ship is this ship goes south and I was like, war He and I never put the ship out and the next week's dropped the record. I was like, he was like, you're right, I was wrong the record. I swear to God, swear to God, my bad. Just I just I just go. So we got the demo for him, who was called I Ain't going out like that. We sampled from James Brown ship. We think, you know that's gonna be popping. Finding your man Kumo D put south Um I got
to work. Yeah, I mean like it wasn't as raw as our ship. It was the same if you remember was the man. We're not battling against it, you know what I mean. So then we ended up picking these next two singles, and like so we had the cameos band.
Everybody brand Nubian, So now your man heavy D ended up using that beat, so that kind of suck that one up to then we had to feel so good, right, But they said that when you're saying happened to be here, saying sample sam example, right, but they everybody sample it in their own way. So these are all variations of the same ship. So now I remember they was playing
the niggas who had I feel so good? During the bag it was and the ship like every day, you know, whenever they played new records or some ship, I'm like, I'm hearing this ship. Come on, I'm getting hype. I'm like, no, that's not like And then finally one day they played that ship and he played our ship right after that,
and that's my word from that day never played. I can't like like that was me who was the first brand new being hit where it went like dashing them, like when you knew that this is bigger than New York show, This is bigger than a New York thing. We wake up was big. Everything was See when the album came out, it was the album. It wasn't just one song, it was the album. What's the fucking album came came out? It was like, oh, we fucking with y'all.
Now slow down? Where was y'all when Yeah, that's one of the last songs. As we recorded last song, I had problems with that first sample, like like the sample, getting the right drums with it, couldn't get it and get the correctly you know, it was the shippy all he did. I heard what it was, and he came with the one. Remember they should play them video shows
at night. And I seen thet because we remember we put that out when her song was still out with the Ship, and I heard it one night and I was like, yeah, well that's six sound kind of night. And I went and bought to forty five and I remember we fused with it at first, and somehow we couldn't get it right. And we said fuck it. We went to do the rest of the album. That was the last song because remember it was that day. It was the last That ship is Dope. And then somehow
nobody had the right drum and that's it. And then we started putting horns and shipped to it at the end and that was it. It was like I go home, right, your ship come back, put it damn And that's what the funk happened now awful one. I knew that from the crankles heard the beat. I was like, yeah, if they don't like nothing else, they're like, I guess right, let me beginning of that record start. I hate this to be a singing crack just like this, and that's
what I should walk around. We used to have the records with us because I remember who I had that record with us, and we that was cracking with the snappot on pop in the beginning. On the right, y'all, the first three Man grew. I know there's a freerous three kind of yea, yea y'all. Back then we can hear y relaxed. Yeah, it was well, well, well we talk at three man MC, you know what I mean, who's been three man who three man MCS Treacherous three
was the first one I could think of. By um, there's definitely been others were and and the locks you that's like that. That's to me. They're like from Westchester. I feel like the next generation of that's a good. Look at it. They'll tell you word it was good. That's and I could see alignments in each one of them too, Like all of y'all was five, all three of y'all see what I was. I was sent first, okay, wow.
Then around the time that we started doing the album, Phoba got knowledge from my right hand man, trust to the mine, but trying to speak to the bad actually had knowledge prior to that, But then I don't know what happened, And maybe he just wasn't running with the right guards or whatever the case may be. So you kind of might a straight away. But he knew, you know what I mean, he knew the science for the youngest that don't know we're talking about, it's a way
of life opposite so so so. But Poba his family came up in like black panther type, yeah, background and ship like that, like Nerroy Schelle got a lot of real like revolution scram Jones from Yeah, we got a lot of revolutionary energy up there. Blackstage used to be up there, Panthers and all that type of ship. Like if you read like certain biographies of people, like some of them stayed in nerthshelle while they was you know how type of ship. Caracon had a cribin nerth shell
at one point. Wow, I never know that as David's Ruby d lived like right behind when But why was it so important like for people to have knowledge youself back then? Like what what was that like a standard? Was that like the norm back then or now it's not necessarily the norm, but you know, to me, it gave you an edge over everybody else, you know what I mean, Like, you know, gave you a mental edge. Everybody else is out here, you know when they wisdom
knowledge and you your knowledge wisdom. You know, thinking before you move. They're just moving before they think, you know, but nobody's teaching them to think for they move. Can five percent Nation of Islam? Can it come back to the forefront? Like because I feel like bloods wouldn't exist in New York City if the five percent was as strong as it was in the eighties and then the seventies and and and you know what I mean, I
don't feel because, like you know, it's crazy. Sometimes I go to hallm and I see a hood with all blue on and it's like that used, I never saw that back in the days. Then they will go and then we'll see hood all for the red and it's like it's kind of crazy for it and it's to be New York City. But I just don't remember. I'm back then, you had to come you have to know your your lessons. You couldn't come outside without knowing today's mathematics.
You had to wake up in the morning and you know, try to be you know what I'm saying, like kind of be something. And nowadays it's just like the more ignorant you all, the more people will see the differences. Back then, like that, you had the alpha males, you know what I mean, who is the gods like? You know, so they're the ones everybody looked up look up to. But you want to be like that. So if they're
into it, you want to be into it. So that's really all we gotta do is just get the young alpha's with that, with the ones with the piece of magnetic to make the other ones come in and say, okay, I want to funk with this. You know, we just can't make it. Seems so called bringing up gods back you at some point they try to make conscious music or whatever. Seemed like it was salt. And that's what makes certain people not want to funk with it, right like,
And that's the bullshit. Ain't nothing soft about it. Just makes a noise that I got damber what one of you was diating married j He didn't want to her to take married Jake and what it mean? Yeah, he's like over, I never saw it with mine. You know it was real ship. Yeah he just so nobody listen? Does nobody? Nobody listen? Yeah? Yeah, But I just want you to know. You know, we started this because we wanted to preserve hip hop. This guy, I know this
guy twenty years. He he hates serato, he hates, he hated, he wants, he likes just like. He's a real He's a real hip hop dude. I'm talking about real, real, pure purist. And we when we saw this show, we said, we want to just continue to support our legends. And we want you to know that y'all guys our hands down. Yeah, I look up to you guys. I still look up to you guys. You know what I'm saying. When I when I thought of a movie the other day, I swear to guard. It was five o'clock in the morning.
I thought of this movie I had. I already had the thing, but it was I've seen Dad's dealing your post the five and cent flag, And for some reason I was like, yo, I gotta speak to the Lord of Jamal. And it was five o'clock in the morning. I said, yeah, I'm doing the five cent movie. I need you down with me, you know what to do it? And he was at five o'clock in the morning. It was like they say, oh, I didn't look at that.
I didn't even look at it like that. There's five o three so you know it actually is built to build to destroy. So we've been destroyer at five o'clock in the guy that morning. So um and the answer. And I just feel like that's that's one of the reasons because I want to bring back up father person.
Not saying that we win anywhere or anything, but I think that Noledge itself, who could help people nowadays, so and and and and in order to teach somebody some of the busiest way to teach people is through entertainment, you know what I'm saying. Like right now, people they think they directly learned, they indirectly learned when they listen to this podcast because I'm you know, I'm always drinking,
I'm having fun. I have fun with my artists. But they don't understand that they they indirectly you know, learning. So what what the idea that I got We're gonna make a movie about the five percent and it's crazy, was up at the time. Yeah, I just and I knew when I'm actually shared the idea was that earlier. But so what do you think of that? Like, I think it's good man, because you know that taught you like to think and you have to study today. I
teach in the school. I teach fifth grade, sixth grade, seventh grade, eighth grade. I teach up to keep school in Brooklyn. I teach each when you teach power point presentations and on. And it's like back then, like when we came like you had to study and learn ship with as these kids nowadays, I'm I'm in school like and I'm looking at these kids and I'm like messing with them every day day to day, and it's like, you know, we did what we did, but we still knew how to read and learn. Like a lot of
these kids, man coming up, they can't read. You know what I'm saying, like read like read ship, I mean something like what what did you say? You know? And they know that I you know, and I'd be like, yo, man, you you'ren't here bullshit and I've seen your test sco I'm saying, and they get mad at me. They come back to every time it lef should have said that said no, you shouldn't have said that. It's open. I
curse I do everything. I'd been like you listen like a lot of times, Peo, I'm gonna go tell my father, Well, tell your father that today you can't read this word right here. Also, you know what, so that that taught you, that that kept you on your square, you know, it gave you a sense of understanding or something where a real school, a real school like them. I took them on the hip hop tour. They said they wanted They said they wanted to record a song. I said, you
want to record a song? I said, let me hear something. They spit it out. I said, good enough. I said I checked this out two days and I have somebody in here to record y'all. Two days later had John Robinson. He bought the portable thing, the portable record thing. I said, now listen all that bullshit you'll be talking every day, it's gonna be a lot different when you get in front of that mic. That's gonna get five of y'all a chance, three of them, may a couple of them
they dropped off. I said, it's gonna be a lot different when you get out what it is is. I never promoted that when I came in school because I didn't want to promote that. I just wanted to come and teach him what I taught him where where one day, like a couple of them they're coming the back. Mr Murphy, who who said that he knows you like weld you like with the Low Life thing, I'm right there on St. John's right. That's that's that's one of the founding places.
So when I went to Lower every day, it made Mr Murray my my uncle. He wins that stuff all the time that he said he knows you. So that was the connection that we made, like that, you know what I'm saying. So I told him through that way. But like the five said, like it told you like a means of studying, a means of survival, you know what I'm saying. Whereas that's lost nowadays. You know, every everybody's their heads down and on this social media to
mad you're proud to dead? How does that mean? What I mean? You know, like at some point in the school it came where it's cool to be dumb, you know what I'm saying, Like these kids they don't know ship and I'm like, yo, cool man, Like we did what we did. We was much you know, like we didn't shoot each other in the back like do this and that, but threw up their heads. But like it's crazy man, that's real right there, that's real. We're definitely
gonna bring the fither stock. I'm noticing you your wine from the bottom oh yeah, you know is supposed to be hell again and as you can drinking the bottom of the bottom as a pole to other motherfucker's like this is true one connosols. This is our bring true wine dot com. You know, go to that get the wine. But as opposed to somebody like just throwing their name on the label, we actually did the futation with this. We started as a joke in my partner will tell
over there you know what I'm saying. We started as a joke and we used to get wine. People used to send up. One day, actually one day what happened was we should drink Man Hennessey in the studio. So one day, you know, it was snowing outside. Nobody felt like going to the store to getting no more honey. He got about the wine we were playing. We drank it. Somehow he posted it. It went viral. We did a couple of more like that. People start sending on us
wine there to do. Somebody said, yo, if you ever serious about making your own ship, get with him zoecle Gino he wa. So he got with us, and uh, we're gonna drink some white. Look at some white. He showed us some one to one kind of got you got the open the tail. We got to open them to open it. We get open whatever you wanted. The summs open now. But it looked like you need to open it. This this this is ain't a twist doll. You know good wine. It's how you know. It's how you're
a good one. When when you got to open it with a thing thing. You know, what have you got? Twist open? Now I haven't seen something good wine. It's a twist. Yeah, I went to miss the towels one night. I swear to God order this bottom eight five bucks. Twist twist to twist all went to went to the grocery store in the morning. She was eight ninety nine and out. We had seving me locations. We actually know about the wine. My partner of Wheelchail, he got a
job funking with the wine. So we got one from Portugal. Where's it made? We're making the one. We're making it out now. All the all the new Italian lines is from the Vneto region of Italy, so our last two was from Portugal. Now, crust, this is what I'm talking about. Man, Oh you got you got the old? Yeah for tasting?
Will tell, well, tell if you ever see this bear a this little bit, this is you creative, all the polar Bears right when you want the polar designed on the original designs for Thurston Halvels original, that's not that's real Polar. Well, I took the original bear and then I flipped it into thug fashion. If we put the Polar reeking patches on order. Somebody ground from over and you gotta cut us a chat the low lines. So
that's dope, man, You got your on wine. We're gonna keep it on the table, just so you know the wines that we don't drink them. A fedexit you ourself drinking going on the table. But me a Poem can't be together for to mom, we just can't. It's just it's just we two out for it's two albums and it's just we just always clash. Give us something. I'm gonna say one thing and I'm gonna let you last week, the power of the power fall, what is the power power grip? We're not gonna get the power
grip with something in the beginning, you know, nigas. Sometimes we have to share rooms and ship like that, like a lot of times. So this was my roommate, right, okay, you know what I mean, and we got along. Who Alamo? How about Alamo? Alamo? Maybe he was in the room with poop. Yeah, okay, let's see and the power of grip. Let's get to it. Well see because he hasn't probably the more popping room, whereas you know he probably let's just say that's just let's like, let's take out of guys.

isn't happy from the North, shall he from Mountain. Now describe Mount Vernon us because because y'all like your own barrels as well. It was like Christian blood. It was Christian Well not really, I don't know how it is, but see it all stem from like sports and ship like that definitely, you know, Nurse Shall and Mount Vernon was always like in the championship from the Nurse Basketball, you know what I mean. So now Nika's just coming to the game. Ship and you know what I mean,
was serious. She used to pop off. They used to be full, like full gang fights and been in and mars he was getting first time that it was. It was that type of it was serious. Yeah, that was a serious state. Was there a story that inspired Punch Jump Up to get down the wrong? Well one day get but actually it was it was it was wise. What wasn't the wise that when we were trying to make the chorus up with some ship that they came
up with that ship. No, sincere it came since it alright, m M to me, that was a crazy crazed his records that he got the chorus from caras one. Actually, of course, Punk jump Up, get beat Down. We're going there waiting for that I mean it was like punch jump up to give beat down. I was wasn't it The whole gay community came at y'all that I wasn't even thinking about that because y'all, wasn't you just say, come up thing, up a faggot? I say that, wasn't
that about that said? And see you're not out of hip hop. You got train of thoughts right, and you could jump around from train of thought. So this woman said, I free flocked the clown up a faggot? Wash it? Yeah I did. Now now now now check it out. Hold up, now at that point where you say up a faggot, that's anybody? Anybody, because you said funk that faggot within the next part to make you think that that was linked to this, he really, because that's the
rare Yeah it was. The next said don't understand their ways, and I ain't down with gay and listen, I'm tired you taking that out of the shows. Yeah yeah, yeah, gally correct side well version version whatever's doing that easy? Then we go now going back to SHO game. So we're saying, what in the clean version was a freak flop flow verb? Yeah, yeah, and caught the body keep saying that good. You got a pressing it you fall
to ye. But at least at least the game people know that it's now that this is take a bow. You got a couple of games in Brooklyn. It's like, I keep it real. I went to a gate wedding one time. I heard, I heard, so we all got families. Yeah, I can't know round Mountain Brooklyn that you around. I can't go out the ship that needs Yeah, I took you know, I took my ship. You have New York talking about the worst New York. They all come from New York. Oh my god, my god. Man, just staying
right there nowhere. I should gave me the Yeah, it's gonna go down one one. Don't drop in the studio when y'all were working. Who's the most problematic out of Brandy who motherfucker won't show up? Oh this is were paying pool payments because that's empty right there, right, you should be here to defend you, all right, son, do ship like this guy. I'm talking back. I'm gonna be honest. This was your second world. Now you can't rock it. Morts.
You have about to put you out. But I will just say that your friend y'all, I magine rejection and he got on the turkquoise had he got to relax ejections, all right. So so niggas frowned out that like the studio had damn all right, wait, you're having another shot another. I can't let you to that like no happen. May be quite ready to yeah, but you see it shot. Just don't don't even look at you. Some guy said, y'all niggas, y'all, y'all light boys, because a little bit
and you're very small. You gotta do a marathon that stop being jam early in the morning to you like something in the morning. I forgot to do that for y'all. Yes, yes, you want some German analysy ship right now, you're gonna simple take just done. Forgot to so the homymy because we didn't even know this was a thing. Once you find out you can go to the studio and get money. Where would you mean to get money? It was like the food budget would take whatever they had, whatever petty cash.
It's always had a petty cash box back. They had like three hundred dollars. Give me that. This nigger will come to the studio before anybody even get there, take all the petty cash and then come I don't never come, He'll leave. It was like a job. We became a great race race the first DMX race. Yeah, because now this m We're like yo, you know yo, where the petty cash? You get some cheese steaks or whatever? What he took all the cash? We're like what? Like he
was the second front. I never knew you could do that. I'm hated. I'm gonna we could talk to ship. Puba was the master of the manual check from a label. Remember, like you're gonna go downtime. We're gonna get today today, today, right now because some fitching It's like and they would make a man they had a manu check. You'd be like, watch this, see see he knows this. So I'm gonna
saying he was a bad teacher. You understand he taught to us this business wrong, you understand, Like like like you know a lot of ship on extortion, you know what I mean, intimidation and ship like that. Like so this is Nick could be like, watch, we're gonna get twenty gs. You know what I mean. I'd be like I do. Then they could call up somebody, you know, I need twenty gs today, I wasted. Yell come up with all kinds of ships to get a fifty. Y'all, you're gonna let me get a fifty? You get all
scanned and ship he comes to chest. Okay, you're talking man like, Yo. This is a bad motherfucker round. He's still recouping. Just you should have to race some new really, catch the bank, that was what it was. Catch the bank. Yeah, we gotta get damn can So Now, what was your favorite label? He was a long Yeah, Buster Rymes. Buster Rymes was there at that time. They came right after us. Because I'm saying we was the first ones out of
that era to get signed directly to Electric. And that's when, boy, it was we that This is when the lat Show was on his own who was muted by I forgot, I don't know, I want to say Atlantic and then and then they formed we Ya Okay, yeah, I wanna Atlantic, wanna election exactly? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So um, Now what do y'all like better? Major labels or independent? I'm gonna say I like the major labels back then. But
now that's a great fucking answer. Back then because there why would you sign to a label now they don't give you a lot and take everything. When I'm right, I'm getting old man like like you came from for men, don't from for me. There was no see when we signed it was No. Three six and like I'm sorry, but what do y'all think about Chuck D? Chuck D just want to lawsuit against Universal because Universal when when we when we all originally signed, there was nothing called
did you rights? There was nothing called like the rain, So Chuck D super super and he actually won because anything tricky. You know you actually here's a deal, like your albums is on digital right now, but your original contract never entirely digital. So they owe y'all money. How did you How do you feel about that? Because they think about it. You could go and get a check right now. That what you said on that money? Yeah,
because seriously think about think about albums. But who can't called tonight that I heard some you know wanted too because they don't pay us. When we originally signed, we signed for hard copies vinyl. It wasn't even well they will see these but hard copies trying to see so
it was actually material. But now this digital writes is why is my albums up there like we see you know, it's funny company always with your ask because in all those contracts always says the different configurations cassette that out of or any medium created or in the future created, like that ship was in there for them, but was it in there for the artists? I look back at that, it was looking about changes, yeah, because when yeah, yeah,
but when that's not exactly together. Now what now? What was the moment where you guys said, you'll know what we're stars? Now? What was that moment nigger when we fucking harm or t fIF Street and every fucking car they drive by is playing your album? I love that feeling. It will never be like that. It'll never be like that again. In New York. Niggas don't understand. That's why they call us legends because we had a legendary time when Brand Nubian was all that. Niggas was fucking with,
like street niggas, conscious nigga, everybody was fucking quarters. And this is the days when you know, hundred twenty fish three, you got the niggas is just standing on their cars playing music and everybody's playing tape, and you know it's to take because niggas got it playing from different parts. You're hearing different songs coming out of different cars, but it's all just your team. For me, it was when one time we went out to Cali. We was out
there for about remember we went about a month. We went out for about a month and when we came back. I remember we was coming back and we went up town and I was hearing like people was coming like, yo, they're playing a June from y'all like And when we came back up to never got the bad that was a serious thing for us time. I want to do with me post that mother, Yeah, beat down got that was approven ground. We had ship didn't so we we was out doing like a promo tool and Calie. We
was out there for a month. We had a cream out there for a month. That was our victory song when we came back step up, I'm just did Martin Lawrence. Yeah he didn't do that. Yeah, he said post to get beat down. We laid it on the ship time when he got beat up by Tommy Hip. We came back from the airport. I never forget, and I remember we went up town. Complex of that my man might be.
We went up town and I remember I was hearing it, Like I heard the song and like when we go to Hot Yeah and Motherfucker's was cleaning the ship up and down home Hot Pot one three to the location gangster Loo Moms shot. He was hearing that and I was like, oh ship, that was like really like we was hearing the record that was one of one of the biggest ones. And it was like it was because we came back, but we was going for but when we came back, it was like in thirty days that ship,
that ship popped off like that. I was like, oh, ship, what's the favorite brand Nubian record? I like a lot of like different, like favor is a different I can't even read off the head that nobody would know about, you know what I'm saying, the straight off and nobody would know about that. But and that was some some people actually, yeah, some people. It was some ship that we went to the studio and did off straight off
the head the record Players album. Yeah, it was when they just did that like different joints like to me, like the mainstream joints, I love them and those are my babies, but it was it was different like side Jewels. Yet we did what was the Lord of Jama Favor brand Numan record. I don't know, man, It's not just one record. I know, just that just when you think I'm gonna tell you what I think the best album is, okay, was Foundation? A lot of people say that she Foundation
to me was the sonically the best. That was the second album and that was the third album and we got back together and he's on arist because yeah, I broke up at one point. Was that again? That album right there, like the first album awful one second one in God we try then everything is everything? Then Foundation? Now that Foundation to me, like it just sounded pull up the Christmas fucking Niggas was spir seriously like that ship Niggas was writing like crazy, Like that ship was
crazy right there? That album? What was Why? Why? That was initially to break up? What happened was initially the break up? What was it? It was a lot of things. Nika was going to the studio taking it for d M and I can't get They raising vehicles. Everybody had a vehicle and you're not gonna come to he would go.
He would get hire before like let's say the studio was at seven that Nigga showed up in like four and seven and he already got to he already got the people in there, you know, lightweight, scared of him or whatever. You know, he's grand pool ball. So when he walked in there, they're just ready to do whatever. So if he said give me all that fucking petty cash, they fucking gave it to him. And then he was out,
and then he was out and never come back. Word you come to work, and now we come to work and were thinking the pretty stead at the time at all slow down was my first Wow, I thought I didn't think slow that was in the first all. Yeah, yeah, I don't know why for all dropped the balls. I was going to say it like I like that song, that's the game, you like that. I'm gonna get that forty five? We said about that off forty five? What's brand newbian as biggest market like like like like other
than New York? Should we we? We we ran through the South North Carolina. I would have thought Philly comes up through the South, you know, and it's about that because I love at l and all that. But when we first comes will still country down this country. We ran through the South? We we we did or another you it was loving us and there you know, well, yeah, yeah, whatever. We was working with them graap Street like like what I mean, I'm talking, But we had these niggas out
there building light. Just imagine keep holding on. Just imagine like three gangsters in the projects outside building on light. Political ship, Jerry Curls and all of that. But they're talking about, you know, some conscious ship. They like. The niggas blew my mind like and I know we went through them, We went through the projects. I don't know
if other nations went through the projects. Said were the only we they said, only we was into Jordan Downs, they said, We're the only niggas that came to the project. Besides Tupacs were the only nigger that came through that. We had so many niggas outside. The fucking ponies sent the helicopter out there, shot right down and we was out there building with gang bangers. We we went with the crips. They took us to the Blood, to the Nickerson's nigga because they have and we trusted them. We
went there with him to the Blood. My niggas and gardens. Yes, yeah, Jordan Down niggers to the Nickersons were with the right niggers. I think that's what the truth. Shout out over, shout out, shout out niggas from the project, my nigga, shout out my nigga, Ziggy. You know what I mean. He just really kill black hot Tower Hot. Yeah, yea niggas there, huh Yes, supposed to fourth one to God, damn it, y'all. Yeah, y'all so legendary, man, this is classic ship for us.
Um Now, well, I never asked you who's your favorite CEO? That I favorite favorite ceo like that that got y'all and that worked with you, whether it's your solo careers or y'all. Well, I can't lie. You know, a lot of people don't like this guy, but I learned a lot where we go, where we called is leor I ain't gonna coming, man, I've learned as well. No, he was on a rush manage. Oh that's correct. It was one. I was talking Elizabeth Street days, Very Street before Very.
I have no idea this literally, I've learned that that was the real Jaya was the real death jam reel rush. That's what we stand outside Adler is still doing publicity then Bill Adler, I think so probably I think he was dead niggas like Todd Moscow, which might have just been coming around. He was the interim of like you know what I mean, bring your ass on this show.
So but I'm saying that that spot was legendary. Like we outside because it was right off house, disrespectful outside drink oft have we gotta drink of forty with d m C. I knew I made it. Hold on, hold on, hold on, you drink a forty with DFC. We drank a forty right outside rush All. Remember at first Niggs had all them feathers and all the funny ship Niggs Elizabeth Street right around the corner from CBG right there, right there. Daughter, you want something, yes, yeah, some of
my I ain't gonna lie. We can't put You're gonna put in a tag of bowl just like you can tell up in the France, right Jamal, You remember yes on the whole album Wild Cowboys album. Okay, I can be seen, I can ne yah when I can no, no, No, that's the real ship. It's really I can nearly you know. That's my man. Beg him up, but don't know. He don't drink. And he used to take me on the road and he used to be like, no, you can't.
Someone in the car, and I'm like, god, Dad were taking eighteen hours dry and the only he don't smoke and to drink. He just knows the soberest people in the world. So like, and I'm like, I used to six room early, six kinds of morning dress. Yeah we get really all right, I don't really dress. You don't from jail, um, you always want to be up early. And see I used to lead the line in jail. You know what I mean by leading line, Like I was like the person that left because I walked so fast.
So the niggas with twenty years to life just to be like, not that, niggas lead the line. So I used to go from the shoulders to the toilet tallest, but I never shoulder, so they just be like, let's this. And I just always said that My father was like, uh, he woke up in the morning the jaw. So I tried to inspire to be him. And I just try to be active. And that's just how I developed that.
But not only that, my hood is full of hustlers left for actually is full the hustles from from from the lobby all the way up to the eighteen floor, and I couldn't compete with certain people in section two at that time because people had better work than me. I was just But what I noticed is I can kill the morning shift. You can digging sleep sleep Nick, go onto the sleep money, amazing sleep. These guys are sleep, he todd coming out. I used to go, fuck it,
I'm gonna take the morning ship because I'm better. I knew I have bad work. I knew I know it's hard, but I get it off like good come out whenever nobody else is something. But I always thought I was a boss, and I just did it wrong. So I used to try to go get cokeing like I knew a little bit of Spanish. I knew enough not to get jerked, and I would come back and I'll just be like And that's how I developed my early morning ship.
But to get back to the dot story, I used to be stressing with acamly because I put help me, help me put on you know, I sucking men, so he couldnot drink. That's so I'm like this. As soon as we get to the town, I'll see you think it's like, come on coming to the room and niggers are smoking in the room. I'm with these niggas on to a world. But um so now you guys have this break up now, is it is? It? Is? It?
Is it because this industry or it is because you guys are friends prior to that and now when you gotta put business first that that affected. It's a combination. Okay, see I'm gonna tell you what I feel it is. But it's some ego ship right just that comes into play with everybody to disrespect to your one. I'm so sorry that tastes like tall together. We got we got'na we gotta watch this out. Please this change terrible. Please diego help me out because we got to watch the
take of bone out of that. That is right, get right fully respect that because that the way that takes it. Just now that takes it like tiger like that. That's life. But the breakup, let's get back to that, because we were all hurt, like what it is, and you know it's crazy. We didn't have the internet back then. So when we just seet y'all together and we said, yeah, there's two of y'all and we were like as fans. I'm talking about when I say we, I'm speaking of fan.
This is not Nori at all. Well, it is Nori, but I just was like, damn, I just couldn't. I couldn't fathom you guys not being together. So see how I think it was a little bit of this, right, Like I said, Pool by a little bit older than this right, right, So it was like he was the big homie at some point when we got on he went from being a big homie to like equals equal. Now sometimes it's hard for people to adjust to that.
You see what I'm saying. You still want to treat me like the little roomie, even though I move home anymore, you know what I mean. So it's like, very good, and I'm not gonna allow you to treat me like a little homie, you know what I mean. Right across the country, right, so we have y'all drove it, so it was the country boy. I wasn't to a bus. We drove a navigator and navigate Texas much navigation. But I think it was a little bit of that, you
know what I mean. You look at your little home, y'all. That's the little homie, not a little home. He come up. There's a change into the guard. Dude. Don't always acknowledge that and see, so I think it was a little bit of that, you know, combined with sucking niggers in your y'all. You know it was you did y'all ever have a fall in as well? Yeah? It was just y'all and yeah pretty much. Yeah cool. You know I Alamo, like Alimo brought us closer together. My pops, Animal Pops,
they grew up together in Lincoln projects in Hall. My animal grandmother and my grandmother grew up leak your projects in Hall. When they had horse statement were talked about like the six dollars. This is twisted about the six season. I might have my cam secret and we're gonna take five and I'm gonna walk outside during this fucking don't we have some breaks? We do it all the time and just give us like that even we gotta keep killed.
Yeah yeah, Animal Animos original member Alimo Pops my where my pops passed away, Alimo Pops came and then like a US speech and my pops so understand. So like Animal Pops, my pops, they grew up together. That's right. The first U Alamo became the DJ so now because he's not noting what the success DJ at that time but the how he is, you guys made him the DJ, like you're gonna become a DJ with the success. He
just was any around. He you know that he had a car at the time, got me to drive us to this but then he scratching you heard at the time was me because I was a real DJ. It's a great it's a great day. Got that started. Remember it's a legendary day. Uh what was the Latin card the day? Remember that? Remember that day? Yeah, remember that. I see back in the day he's talking about before before this ship like this is this one. Let me know he was a live niggers. I was with him,
like who Keith grew up in the same building. Like for some reason after the days and even some of your toughest niggers scared to go to the sea for some reason. Yes, niggers from ner Se niggers. They were scared to go to city, to New York. Yeah, like like Davis felt safe up dead, but they felt like it was a little too gangs to the city. Whatever. Nigga Like me, I was, I'm going all ship you square Latin quarters. So one night I'm out, I'm down
to the Latin quarters. I'm buying my motherfucker world self. Okay, I'm about to go in there. I see my niggas from nerd schell, Mama, be happy, mama from around your way. I got mama car with Mama, got mama mama car with his man, God bless the daddy with my man key to speed. And maybe I didn't get who else I'm there. So so we on the line. You know, you're like being point. You know the lot of man long niggas don't really like waiting on. Then I never
really I knew. I knew rhyme, you know the body. We knew each other, but we never really chilled with each other. From so I'm like, yo, what's suck? You know what I mean? Like this spot? Like like I was handing to do these niggas okay, some live young because they're my age. I used only see older nigga mama's cut and now I felt and I was going to train and all that. So these niggas is driving there like young niggas seventeen. So so okay, young niggas
gotta ride, Like what's up fund this spot? Let's go to town. Doh my god, let's call towns. Get some weed, get some dust. Let's talk about the it's got some woos. We did all of that. Who is Nigga is cracking? Let's go to the super poking. Let's park in the park a lot of the polo grounds. Let's get funked up like young parkers. Fuck this plot. And then Niggas was black and Niggas was like a beat. I ain't hot. I was okay, how does PCP do? But I smoked it one time. It didn't work, he said, were like
from from man like that. Listen, PCP see back then. You know, I didn't want to get in the name. Let's not do that bad way. It goes mad like the funk. I just got mad and some other ship like that's what Niggas was young Wow, big up my man as, my man chasms for Lennox, you know, and that's what does smell like sparraman gum my man chat. Listen, let me tell you something. Jama one day right my man chat. He's so he's so hot on PCP. I'm sitting down. He's the guy to gangee. This is the
guy who played me New y New York. This is the reason why I got the idea so he comes to me. He goes, yo, you think these niggas is dissing up? Because he was on something called the DJ list back in the days. So he says, you think this is two months before the Dog album come out. So he plays me New York, New York. He's like, you think these niggas record pool. Yeah, he was a
part of that, but he wasn't on DJ. He was just smart enough to put it on and he got the album too much in advances before bootlegging and all that. So he goes to me, he plays me to New York, New York, and I'm like, He's like, you think they dis in us and then just out the blues. They just want a hundred moths just ran across the street and I'm like, oh ship, And he comes back act like he never did it. He was like, yo, you just conversation. I'm like, I want to be like, what
the fun is just right away? But this nig but he hold he handles his BCB. But then getting about it, that's how that's just runs reading smokes one time world. Yeah, I mean the nigga was his name Reggie uh Jackson or some ship from New Yeah, I know he's all whatever, this nigga smoked dust one time, bobbed out forever. It's like looking up like I'm talking smoking up the girl like football, all of that, everything going from smoke. It was gone. I think it was like for the rest
of his life. We I don't know. We was out there. We acted fifty fifth Street ruck a game. We would we smoked. I dunk up before rock a game, but went to the game. I'm trying to get a street serious. You know. One time I took a mess tab and the bushes talking about remember that. I don't know what mess those back a hard days. That's ecstasy. Yeah, I was laughing, laughing, good hours, yo, that's what you take before you go to the club. To listen. I saw the one time I took a mess tab and got
on the seesaw by myself. Listen, don't go up and down. The moon talking to me like you're killing talking to the moon world. Swear to God, you know what seesail you need? Two people made work. I was pushing yourself back what I was doing, and the moon started talking to me. Lunjama in the moon was like, what's good? How you baby? Where you been at I'm talking to the moon, the moon like you're good to stop working
with shake. Took me fifty minutes to walk from that park that's right by christening them to hood that is a ten minute walk. It took me fifty minutes because the buys the bushes were talking to me and I was giving the bushes fives. And my name is nixas is looking at me and we were all that were all the crazy ship the moon talk to us all it was me down, lazy, I forget who else? Big?
You up, down easy wherever you at, so continue. I'm sorry she had me stopped working with crazy ship like that, like dust and ship like that, like I couldn't talk. Problem we're getting any way. And Bro, I used to go to this school I used to go to school. Was it was? It was an alternative school for bags that we used to educate. Oh no, At first I went to sinr Helen that was the bad people's school
in the Rochelle. But then I graduated to Educate, which was the bad people school of West that stuff like kids right, so whatever bound it was this girl named Crystals, the baddest bitch in the school. Okay, because she's you guy, I gotta relax again. She was working with some lame kid or whatever that used to smoke dust. So whatever. She broke up with the nigga and I'll make my mood wanna long? She started, She's ready to funk with me. I like it to the crib. She's peace skill though
New York, Peace skill, New York. Somebody to come to my rights. She got on the bus, so it was no like two hours on the bus something, but transfers in all this crab she had to do right, so bomb. So I see my man. I'm like, yo, too bad, match, just coming to the crib. Blah blah blah. He's like, oh world, let's go get some dusts real quick. Nigga, No just is the good. So we go to Mount Vernon. We go to Mount Vernon, get some cuss, we smoke. We come back to near Shell. Now we meet the
girls at the bus store. We dusted as we picked the girls. Nigga, I don't say a word to them. We walked to the crib. It's like a fifteen minute walk from the bust out to the I don't say a word to these bros, and neither one of us. Your move seen brand. Got stopped doing that ship early. Yeah, I might be like seventeen at this time. Took it to the crib some boat. They Yeah, we're just sitting there staring at I know, and they're looking like, what's up?
Ya want to something? We just play nigger out. She left out of it. She was so mad at me. She never fun with me again. I said, I, I'm not working with this duck ship. No more this ship. You're working with my ship that I really loved, which is the brand Nubia, and was experience with cocaine or absolutely now it was out of those day then it was too I might I might get bros right now. Me first my ships two once in nineties nineties came. I didn't even see no more power. I didn't even
I didn't see us back then. Cocaine like even smoking woulds like you said, it was kind getting from up. I used to be in his mother don't because I'm gonna telling you you used to be in the rooftop and the rooftop do you want to smoking smoking nigga like you just ship was eight seven eight six. I was wanting seven seven years ago. I mean the half
warders with coke and a hundred dollars. Bras wanted them to see it because they know that's a little I'm like fifteen little that was like, that was like a fly back. Then I'm blowing the smoke coked cigarettes in the Brad's face to let him know that I got the coke. Where if you got a because because he asked, a lot of niggas was fucking with it at that time, New York's dirty at something ain't called dirty. Listen, listen, listen, listen.
At some point it's switched from coke to crack. That's now. When it switched to crack, niggas thought you could only get a hook if you're smoking in the power, right, So I don't seem like niggas that was getting money. I'm talking about her money. Start smoking wooze and that's two weeks later the niggas is I'm like, damn, nigga, like you was getting it, Like how the fun from smoking woo So I feel the thing that saved me.
Let me just real quickly, the thing that saved me from never being the theme or all that type of ship was one having knowledge itself. That's right, right, that's right. Because the gods. When you got knowledge, they don't give a funk what the funk you have? You better know the lessons and get your get yourself. Like I remember when I first got knowledge, I ran into this into cable on okay, on sounds strong, was strong and scary black,
scary blacks strong. And how you see today that when or whatever I said I put of, he got him a little stimulated. So I don't care if you stimulated. Yeah, he said, you better master your ship or you don't funk with it. You know what I mean? Okay, part of me. And the next time I see you, you better know that degree. You know what I mean? And now he was one of those. A ship come came on, like you know what I mean. But and that ship, but it made you shock. Did you say I'm never
gonna let nothing master to me. I'm always one the master. That's what That's what it's not. But that's the only thing that I feel that some things didn't have that let make them run on being far crackhead of something. How do you feel about young kids? Because his young kids are actually drunk addicts. They don't u like they sound like drug addics. Rhyme. That's how that's how drug addics drug up like like like like the drug dealer talk authoritatively. You know what I mean, Kim, big daddy kid,
he's keep sitting at World on one time. Authoritative, authoritative, get my ship, get me some fun duchess, authoritative to We're not oritative athoritatively authoritatively here you go there, I gotta use that somehow. Authoritatively is how the drug dealers used to talk to motherfucker's You know what I mean. You'll give me some duchess. You'll run the store, give me some duchess. You know what I'm saying. Then let me do what I want to do. The next day, I went to the police station six eight
proc Precincts. I'm over, like, you know what you're trying to do. You can't do that right now, I'll figure it out. I'm going back and back and forth to court with I'll figured out what's the docks favorite year
in music? Maybe nineties sight seven because that was D I T C Ship d I T C. I'm gonna tell you one of my most favorite by the way a D and that album coming out with Diamond D. We finished it already, and the album coming out with Elisa say the facts from all the fact story is that that's right, is finished that and I got a
secret album coming out. I'm gonna say twelve Park Avenue and I'm trying to get brand news were cool keep that's that's the act because she has to do it of solum the resurgence, you know, busting rhymes, and I'm gonna keep asking. I want to hear new definitely. I would love to make a brand new being the album and trust me the swords and we're gonna get poop in the gym too. So well, he's actually in the gym right now. He's gym. He's lost a lot of weight probably since you last year te him to come
in tomorrows on Facebook. You're a lot better and I'm happy. Way about that. God, bless this man stays in the gym, you know the one. I'm just naturally well, oh the ship before we started the way any sets, that's warm up. That's the womber. We were doing thirty minutes on the treadmill and then we're gonna do twenty minutes on the wheel. We're gonna do straightforward on the wheel. Twenty minutes on the wheel. Gun minutes. That's what we got. Poot not
ready for twenty minutes. You can do it. Five minutes on the wheel, got five minutes on the wheel, you can do it. That's a little long on the wheel. Yeah, you're going long on the wheel. So what's your favorite year in music? My favorite year and music, damn you hip hop or in general, it doesn't matter. We'll see I'm a hip hop nigger, so yeah, it's not gonna be my favorite or any other. Yeah, it's gonna be
hip hop ship. I want to feel. I'm probably gonna say, like eighty six, I'm gonna coach you know, six a sign of things. Really see the crap, Like there was just a lot of you know that whole ever, that whole time, that was some real hip hop ship. But honestly, you know. But then again when they talk about the Golden Era like which we happened to be blessed to be a part of. You know, that was a really good time. It was early nineties. Actually, the whole nineties
was very good. It tapered off at the end, but like most of the nineties, was very had your biggies, you had your nass, you had your tupacs. You know, brand new being trick called quests buster. It was a beef that brand new another artist. See, we never got into that type. We never really have relax now over there we got the beef with somebody, it would definitely
been heads and feet. My beefs came like now, like with this Internet ship where I say certain ship about people, Oh yeah yeah, you'd be pissing them off on purpose or you don't care. Nigga listening, I'm just speaking to all be taking another Sho'll talk about her sipping. I mean, if you know me as a person, then you know how I get down, how I talk. What I mean, Lord Jay, is that nigga like you know what I mean? That just might say what the funk that you thought
somebody shouldn't say. But Nigga's just thinking so exactly, you know what I mean. That's what the funk I do. Like, you know what I mean. So I'm trying to piss people off on purpose. At the same time, I don't give a fun people like that come on that. I would have beat his ass if I say, I'm kind of fags fag you know, like like like you know, nigger want to comment on some ship I said or whatever about you know, white people being guests in hip hop, which they are. You know, this is the black man
built this motherfucking house. You understand I'm saying like it was a time when white people would look down upon for fucking with this hip hop shop. Do you understand I'm saying, So, don't try to claim it now because it's cool and all that bullshit, you understand? Said? Um, I think is when I say you're a guest in this how he did when I say when I say you're a guest in this house? Right, we're in a hotel right now, right? Do you feel any bad way
about being a guest in this hotel? Don't you're being treated fairly that you ain't treat it well? But guess what he says, your fucking house you don't own this place. You just rented this room for however many nice that you're here, that's right, it's correct, But you can't do whatever the funk you want. We're going out on the terrorist to smoke why because you say your house and his rules to So that's all I'm saying. When it comes to this hip hop ship, if you're a guest,
that doesn't mean you want to play. You you're hey, you're welcome. I'm not saying white people can't rhyme and all that type of ship. But what you gotta understand is we started this ship, and this is our fucking ship, and you're not gonna come in the year and fucking try to funk with the rules. There's some wa used to talk about down by law back in the day. What is down by law means the means there's rules
and regulations to this fucking ship. And the only way you can get down if you're down by law for fucking if you passed all the criteria that it takes to be down. See now niggas is just down because they got money, or they're down because they're down with the right record label, or whatever the fun the case. Maybe funk all that bullshit. I don't give a funk. How many records you sold, none of that ship. That don't mean nothing to me, Like, how are you affecting
true Black culture? How are you affecting the ship that we really funk with, because we really don't give a fight as black people. We don't care how much record you sell. If you whack your whack, I don't care if you sell tempering your records. You whack motherfucker on our standards. Don't put that ship in my face. So whatever I said, some ship and it's faggy, that's nigga. We yellow Wolf for the fucking you know, invite me to his balls and all this bullshit. Now you cross lines.
You see what I'm saying now when I see you's and and you don't even know we fucking with you know what I mean? That's all. But I'm not I'm not even I'm not a gangster nigga, you know what I mean. I'm not. I'm not out here, thank you, brother. I'm not out here trying to be the hardest nigga. But it's certain ship. You know, I'm cut from a certain claw to think about you, my bad to cut
you off. But the thing about you is you're if you understand righteousness, even you understand that you never actually said nothing wrong. You just stand on a certain principle. And if if you understand the principle, like I I watch it all the time. I watch you on Black all the time, and I'm like, damn, if a person came from our error, he's he's not dissing y'all at all.
He never disrespected anybody white. He never did. He just said that, you know, your guest to the hip hop and it's just like, I was so appreciate the way you just broke that down from the beginning. Shout out like Prince Whipple whip, shout out shot Charlie Chase, shout out the fucking um what's my nigga? A crazy legs, shout out the furious five Tito, you know what I mean? Niggas like that, like like Puerto Ricans and all of that. First of all, let's not get it twisted like we
we got dropped off of different islands like that. It all started business Black, and it all started in Africa. Okay. Now, when you're on the island, though, the grafting process goes faster because you have a smaller geographical area. So if the slave master starts intertwining the slaves, they're gonna get lighter and lighter at a faster rate. Whereas in America
it's a bigger geographical area. So you know, the slave master was deaf into twining, but it was spread out more, whereas you have certain islands where they just fucking damn near trying to milk it all the way. They're trying to graft it like the ship was pat most you understand. So Puerto Ricans Hispanics have been down with this from from the beginning. And I don't separate Puerto Ricans and hispanic So when I say this is our house, it's
our house. You understand. I'm saying, Um, you either black of you white. In my book, you know what I mean, Although there are subdivisions, but at the end of the day, you either black or white, are the closer to the black people all the absolutely listen they are because they all remember the original Chinese and I remember the original Vietnam War, the Vietnamese coming home vietn unplugged, but yeah, pick that up as well. But the original Vietnam War.
They said this is not your fight, black man. Yeah, we comy'all with y'all. Don't this not yall fight. And that was super real, Like you know what I'm saying. So even Asian people identify what we are because Cuban, uh, Puerto Rican, Ecuadorian, whatever, You're more closer than your black origin because Africans was the original man. The whitest white person. Will tell you, if you got one drop of black blood and you you're black, you know what I mean,
We're not fucking with you. You can't be down. Yeah, you can't be down with Nation, you can't be down with you know, Queen Elizabeth and all these other motherfuckers who gotta Droyal blood. You gotta drop him some ship that we're not fucking with. And when you say black, you even saying Spanish, even including absolutely, I'm including the Indians, including you know what I mean, I'm including all old
original people. You know. That's X. What was the moment in Brand New Being History where you he said, I have to either continue with the group or it's time for X to do this solo. But it was I tell you what, it was fucking with boy George the drug Dealer George. That's big noise for the drug dealer, Boy George. Boy up that was that was the Bronx alcohol. He was a group row new boy George. That's in
the group. He wasn't rich then, right because he was a rich Okay, so he was a group on No no, no, okay, I'm not even gonna front. George used the blessings with a whole bunch of ship, right, he's the funk with George. Like when you say hopefully I can, we're talking about we're talking about whatever. Okay, you know what I'm saying. I don't even want to get into it like that. I like the way you're saying with Georgie. You know what I'm saying. But you know that's a great movie
as well. Ask the question why why did boy George make you feel like you should do some solo ship get on your wild cowboys? And because we used to see boy George and it was the infamous party on the boat, m you had the party on the boat. Game needs to bell buckles. This is the original good about game. Let's go. Damn, nobody listens to us. I don't even want I'm gonna tell you what he said nobody listens to We're just George, but like this, George
is the boss. I'm talking about Beatman Avenue, Beatman St. Mary's Courtland Avenue one five to one, five three one five six, h Melrose, Jackson and Cortland. How did that lead to you doing your solo? What electus? Because Jones was like, I funked with George. George had to the group home next to my crab. He was like, funk anybody else your son? Do what you do? You know what I'm saying that he didn't want you to sell drugs, but I fund poot him with my cousin. And you
know what I'm saying is like TV. Who's that TV? You know? Bros? Boy? Who TV? Wait? Wait, come in come in black? Why didn't say say man, say that's Mike boy? Say when TV come home in February. That's what I'm talking about. There you go to this February. So so that's my covery TV. Understand boy, George, understand understand translations translation, Come on, you know what I'm saying. So twitch how you want to do or whatever you
want to do? What George is real? Niggad That's who I was fucking that makes much boys, it's so sacred. I don't even want to talk about him no more. You know what I'm saying, because is he in jail? Yeah? When this boy Joyce come on never Never, I'm talking about calls. What what what the what? What the what? The woman says, the text coming out to the old. It's been many people that want to talk about boy George.
I don't even want to get into listen. Let me ask you a question, but how did you get the idea of getting niggas fucked up? Yeah, in order to reveal their most inner secrets? How did you? Where did you come up with that? You said, you know what, I'm gonna have a bottle, I'm a table full of liquor and I'm gonna get niggas fucked up. Niggas already funk with me so they feel comfortable around and I'm gonna just get them soup and I'm just kind of sucking. Say, ship,
what are you going with that idea? I don't beat me, I don't behind the building. I'm interviewing Nori round quickn because you come on bush bullshit Avenue one five ton sat Mary right saying Mary, anybody we went around corling to get that people over till she never mind, We're gonna stop it. That's here crossing. That's not the family. Yeah, that's my family, knocking off road avenue. Come on tb fresh being on being my people said, I don't get
knocking off. Tell't you want to funk with that type of ship right there? Man, I'm keeping it on on on a on a on a rap level. You don't want to get to that check ship. Knock it off. George like this ask when they had the party on the boat, gave everybody the belt buckles. The belt buckles. It was winners for different prizes. How much work. Matter of fact, I'm gonna stop it right there, that's right
stopping right stop right there. And I won't even so to answer, although Jamal question that they just asked me. He asked me, when we come up the thing is met that part. Yeah, I'm gonna get you straight to it. Me and nf um. I heard him on the radio today. Seriously, I like scram Joan show and he has said something very crazy and it's real. We used to be I used to record in his studio in Miami. In Miami, I should record there and he used to play poker
at the same time. Poker and studio is probably the same amount of albums, like eight six or eight hours. If you're playing a real intense poker game you're playing, you're doing a real intense studio And I can't said something today that it sucked me up because it was like, that's how we invented drink Champs, was we would drink all night and whoever with Paull to sleep like you ain't no fucking drinking. And he said that today and that's that's pretty much how we came up with dodging.
We actually had a radio show prior to that. It's called Militatement Crazy Oral Radio was on Leo G. I always hate when we say that we don't mention Leo G. Miss Kitty so picked them up and then what So what happened was we we came together like we we love the nineties, we love that era. We we feel like that's the golden era of hip hop, but we
don't want to live on the past. So we sat back and said, you know what, why don't we interview just legends, just legends, like I don't we don't want, you know, we might interview some new guys here and there, like we had uh freshro on here, we had but he came he wasn't he came was and we had we got no problems. But this is no yeah, we had somebody else. Such is the way. So what we said, we said, you know, why not get our legends? They
wrong you might have for breaking out that day. Everybody's like, you know what happened? Like that episode you break out? You may had to perform, yes, and I had to be my managerial Let's say that one real quick managerial
learning story. I had to get on my managerial ship and so I had to leave the fucking ship so that I would have loved to kick it with y'all get back to the you know, we want to respect our legends because this is the only genre in music that once you have ten years in this game and try to kick you out, and I want to reverse that thing. I don't want to complain about it. I
want to reverse it. You know what I'm saying. Because there's a lot of people to complain about your music, ain't this, but you ain't doing nothing about to help that side of the music. So you asked to know what I'm saying, I'm telling other people. So what I'm saying is, you can't complain about something if you're gonna do something about something. So when we started this, like I said, this is a vinyl guy, like he's DJ's he wants vinyl and he wants the original essence of
hip hop. He's scratching, he does the real ship, and I had to respect that. I had to say to him. You know, at one point I used to tell him, man, get a fucking serato, man, And I'm like, why if this is what he wants to be and he can maintains exactly, I understand what I'm saying. What I'm saying is we wanted to preserve the Coach Show. We wanted to sit back and say, you know what fun that like, you know, you know Lord Jamal, you know x Grandpool.
But all these people you have deserved to be saluted. It ain't it ain't just me, it ain't just him, it ain't just us in this room, like y'all deserved to be y'all raised people like literally, you raised me like I'm a great person. Because I'm listening to brand new bed. Yeah, you know what I'm saying, I had to balance of life levels backwards, just level. You gotta balance it so that let's see, we're real quick. Let me let me. I want to ask them, there's no
conspiracy to this, Like we're all grown as men. You could drink whatever you want to drink. You don't have to drink. Yeah, weir And we're not really doing interviews. We just tossed conversations like we how we were doing in the studio when we was drinking and talking ship. That's where the idea came from. This is what we're doing in the studio anyway. I'm just saying it told us. That's why market with sixteen to twenty four. It blew
my mind. Because the reason why I blew my mind, it's because we don't and nobody's sixteen or twenty four. Your energy is late energy and here is lit. Yeah. The fact that our mother might say anything or to hear an ill story that they might not necessarily hear anywhere else is what makes you guys popular. And I just want to say thank you to shout out we care about We really do care. But I remember you came up to me. We was at okay, this nigga says Yo I like that Shou'd be saying over that.
He was like, yeah, I really want to say that type of ship, but I was kidding and then yeah, I saw you came with this. I said this niggas genius, Okay because instead of you saying some ship, just interviewing niggas and let them say. I said, it's smart. Some motherfuck for you, my not for you. And I'm glad where it's going anywhere. And I hope you just because
we see you on Black TV. So you know, we also want to throw out had in the ring because you know we've got the drink champs in network, me and my partner DJ f N. So if you ever think about starting the podcast, and I am thinking about that, I think about ideas. You know, I could just look
right now and just say bridging the guy. Uh you being a legend that you are and you're putting on artists like and I could y'all y'all have to do uh podcasts together like the Old Meatstan News, the New Mest and he can, he can, he can, so to school you on why you know people listen to the me goes. I'm not saying you're outdated and you don't listen to me, goes, but he gets plain to you. Why yeah, yeah, I do too. And then you could be like, well, you know in our days, you know
it's it's it's it's shipped like that. So um. And you know the thing about podcasts, I never felt more important in my life, like I really, like, I mean, you know, music is like selling drug. If I don't come outside, they'll go see you all Santana. If I don't come outside, they'll go see red Man, see whatever. If I don't drop an album podcast, these niggas be and my d M disrespectful. Yea, why the funk? I can't see the videos no more because y'all, I mean,
like videos is coming out. They listen to me. Whatever artist is anywhere near in Miami, the dream chance on me will record Like if you wouldn't went to Miami while we was trying to get you, they would have recorded here, like look, Lord Jamas here and they'll send me the ship like the drink champs. What's going on? I don't let him let him about you, all right, I'm good. Yeah, he's a type of nigger. He has no shame and throwing up. Okay, I can't telling you
stories the next day. Man, he'd be like, we got your right there, we got your right nig right. This nigger came in with the soldier faces the star big at the DN over the store and put that bag over my head with yellow Eric cooks right now, that ship. Talk to the people real quick. It's good. Now. I want to go to pancakes. Get some pancakes. I respect that gangster niggas me just say, let me just say, I'm a hip hop over there. Now. The group I
brought to the game was dead prayers black. I don't know. Yeah, people don't know a lot. I didn't know that either. You discovered that. I discovered that friends. I signed them to loud and shout out Steve Rifkin all that ship. Now, if I was a first seed nigger, I would have been keep trying to feed y'all bullshit niggas between now and then, you understand. So how did you discover Erica? It's a long story, and basically I found him on
the internet by accident. Okay, the universe sire Syracuse, y Syracuse, New York. Okay, So New York is a very big place where you used to just five girls in New York being popping. Let's go still give I don't want to what kind of glasses those that these it they're like prescription, they're very Yeah, I work at the prescriptions. I'm wanna. I want to vir hide this rink. I hide it and bring the tea. But also makes any
for stop being drunk here. Oh he's switched it. Yeah, very clip, we have hours hours we've been Yeah, I left the episode one yeah sweep, Very said, I'm out of here. Suck this bush, do it? Listen? They're going to the after hours and let me just take someone else getting close to a mic. You go listen, everybody, listen. We celebrate our artists tonight. Brand Nubian deserve to be celebrated because you know why, y'all raised so many people.
You saved so many people lives with y'all music. Y'all have touched so many people and and this night is all dedicated to y'all. And when we dropped this episode, it's going to be dedicated to y'all. You're gonna see these kids post your albums. You don't understand. You still think gonna be mad tonight? Last night it was up you know what you know one of the things I've heard over the years constantly that that is very rewarding. People come to me and be like, yeah, I used
to listen to you. You ship got me through college, ja ja jail in college, those two places. Motherfucker's y'all used to rock your ed to wing through the store right there. I don't listen now, but that's it right there, is like or you know, a onding thing is when bump us like, yo, I got knowledge yourself because of y'all. Like it's because of y'all that I got an interest in learning about myself. And I'm like, wow, thank you, because that's why we wanted to do this ship in
the first place. You know. And what's the most record? When people coming to you, they're like, this record, what's the records? I think it depends on the age for younger people. Don't people down and don't let it said slow down years you know, thirty five years and years old. Yeah with my fact, Yes, yeah, I'm gonna get of course, I said Ali Jean Alee's hair. Yes, somebody wait, wait
you you invited. Somebody. Somebody says, I leave downstairs. Somebody said, hold on, hold on, hold on, he's like, yes, that's one must definitely much. Ali said, so, so now we're gonna we're gonna try to end No, we don't have to end it. But on y'all, But what do you think about Donald Trump? He said, I have to do you he is he is he the market, the beast is, He's the into the world. No, he's not the end of the world. Okay, awakening of the world. There is
no ending of the world. Let me just say that I'm almost happy for Donald Trump, for him or for I'm happy he's here. You know why. You know why, because but nothing good comes without struggle, nothing good comes easily trying to figure out where you're going. It's like, for many years, we've had a very hypocritical society. We've had a racist society that pretended it wasn't racist, and it allows certain black people to to move in a certain way and feel like it's all good in this
motherfucking hood. Well, guess what, it's not. It's not. And he is, like Donald Trump is tired of the facade. They're tired of being hypocritical, and they're like, fuck the bullshit. Let's be the white people we were meant to be. Okay, so now he's just talking to Ship that a lot of white people are thinking in their heads why people like me because I say Ship that you might be thinking in your mind, but you think it's politically incorrect
to say. Now Trump is doing the same thing. And I'm not mad at that, because you can't positive ship comes out of chaos. You need people to feel. You need a catalyst, you need something. Whoa, Oh, we're really fucking up now that fans because it didn't break. I know, but I heard all the kinds of splashing, and you need you need some crashing. I need you need, you need, you need a catalyst. This is my room. I know it might not look like is he a horseman? Is
he a horseman? Maybe what I'm saying is he's somebody that's needed in order for us, for certain people to wake up and put themselves in gear. Because even white people who voted for him, like we fucked up, some of them, some of them, some of them, some of them, some of them said that they voted for Hillary, were really voted for him. Believe that, okay, I believe that they came back and said you're different, Hillary, but they
voted for him. Because it's all about what you do in the You know, when you buy yourself, that shows what real type of person you are. See if you're hungry and you say you don't eat swine, are you gonna eat the ham sandwich? If you're sitting there, I'm not, you're not. But if some niggers will if they're not to the certain fortitude, a certain discipline.
