Springtime tips and fun facts from Paul Kristen and Dexter at Total Wine and More. It's peak season for asparagus, which pairs perfectly with a light and crisp rose. Many bottles of champagne and sparkling wines are perfect for adult Easter basket and they're really cute too. My perfect brunch Belgian waffles with extra whip cream and a holiday poor

or your sweetest rose. Whether you're hosting or just bring the wine we love to share are always low prices and ridiculous selection this spring at Total Wine a more cheers y'allways, he's a legendary queen's rapper, hang seges your boy, and he's a Miami hip hop pioneer. What up is d J e f N? Together they drink it up with some of the biggest players in music and sports, I mean, the most professional, unprofessional podcast and your number one source for drunk facts. This is drinks Chip right

to every day is New Year's Eve? That round? Hey, they said Green over the South? Is your boy again? What is d J E f and Drink Chance for podcast? And right now we have our first active athlete. We've had many offers and plenty of people who came and said they wanted to come and sit down with their drink champs and and but this is our first active and he's a champion in Latino and Latino, in Puerto Rico.

I was gonna, I was gonna fairly, I was gonna write bat Joe and just make you Puerto Rican out today. But then so he's Puerto Rican. He's a champion thirty three and old knocked out people when their own courts and their own hood goes anywhere, about to have the biggest fight of his life. I see them destroyed Matissa. I've seen him have two fights with Eric Morales. I've seen them go in go crazy. I'm a huge fan. Right now in the building, we got daddy gonna makes

up me on. I mean, you're first active athlete, man, you know what I mean. And you're gonna make You're gonna make us look so good because we go because we know our ship. But we're gonna get to the to the to the beginning of the beginnings of Danny Garcia. How did you how did you first develop your love for boxing? Um, when I was a kid, I just love playing sports. You feel me. I played all sports. But I was a soyd loser, you know what I mean. Not the way you though, I'm sorry to cut you off,

but the way you throw your right hand. I feel like you was a short stop out fill the or push you at one point because you throw it like you throw it like you. I mean, you you what you're right? Like? Um, I'm agate, you know. The boxing, to be honest, is natural to me, you know what I mean. Like when I was when I was young, I played every sport. I played baseball, I played I played football, I played basketball, you know what I mean. But like I said, I was a soort loser. So

I hate losing. I would I would blame I would be mad at my teammates from not being too good, you know what I mean, Because I was good, you know what I mean. But when I stepped in the boxing gym, I just started hitting the bag and it just felt so easy to me. It was like it's just like it was like, this is what I want to do, you know what I mean. Exactly, I can't blame him body if I lose, so because box is like similar to rapping, Like no matter how many people

that could come with me to the studio. There's only one person who could perform the record, you know what I'm saying. No matter how many people I got on stage, it's only one person that could. Really, Like the crowd is looking at that, it's real because it's like you gotta entoprisee walk when they walk you in the ring, you know what I mean. Soon as we're walk in the ring, they're like, all right, homie, like you gotta

make us look good, you know what I'm saying. So it's like at the end of the day, it's like it's a one man it's a one man game, you know what I mean. Yeah, your hype man can't fight for your man. Could be there, could be in the corner like when you go in the corner, but you can't fight for you. So you being thirty three and old right now, up, what made you take this Keith Derman fight? Do y'all know each other? Because I feel like y'all four I know from the amateurs. You know, yeah,

did you never fought him in the amages? Okay? Cool? But like my goal in the boxing world was to be a two divisions like two division world champion, du division world champion. I unified the hunting forty pound weight class. I had you did two divisions. Yeah, I wonder one forty sound one forty seven pound? What's away champion? But I unified one forty I was the champion of all belts. So I said, I can't want forty seven. I want to do the same thing. So he got a belt

and I want it. I need it. What does it mean unified the belt? Unified means you're the number one guy in the division. You got the belts belt. You know what I mean. That's what we're doing with you know what I mean, Joe. But I'm not gonna by Garcia. You You're my man, A big fan of you and all the fights. Like I thought the Matis fight was dangerous.

I thought the agm of violence was dangerous. I knew he was kind of gonna, you know, skip through the app judah um American too, just like I was waiting for the left. Yeah, the whole time I was just waiting. I was I was rolling blush, just like waiting for the left. Soon as the left com like, I ain't got you, yea, you expose his class year I'm sorry, American, but a bit up to Monster energy drink not some energy drink with ask calling on that. But that's that's okay.

But me, I think this is your most dangerous about today because to me, even mind each other in style, Yeah, we both will punches, you know what I mean? But um, like me don't. I don't. I don't feel that way, you know what I mean. I just feel like like I earned my spot in the boxing world, you know what I mean, Like like i'd be all odds, like

I've been the underdog most Americans. Underdog. Lucis my Sunday a quarter we can always go on day right sometimes, But I just feel like, man, to be honest with you, he was like he was He's brought up the good way. I mean, like he never had to go against the odes, Like he never been in a fight where he was the underdog, you know what I mean? Because his last fight, Reporter, that was his biggest fight, and it's arguably bigger fights

than that. A lot of reporters, a lot of people say that, people think that Sean Porter kind of won that I was in a decision. It was he went by like a pointing to It was unanimous though, but it was a closing animal, you know what I mean, because but a lot of people do point out that they think that Sean Porter one. It could have either way. It was one of them fights where you can't be mad either a person one, you know what I mean. I'm not a Sean Porter, you know. You know what

I mean. Is there any fight you ever had and people who criticize you saying maybe thought, yeah, I had which one? The Peterson fight? People though you know Peterson, I don't remember that the yeah, but I feel like, you know, you can't fight three rounds and you can't just close it off, you know what I mean. Strong, You gotta fight from round one to round one to the end, you know what I mean. And that's how

you score a fight. If you tune in from the tenth round on, you probably thought you want, you know what I mean, because he's getting off, but you gotta kind of everything around. And in the championship fight, you just can't come to try to edge out of victory over the world champion. What I mean, So tell them, let's say that world champion. We got the world. You've got dream chips, but the world and our first boxer is Puerto Rican. It's very racist here. That's why I

a Cuban boxing. Cuban I'm talking about. I'm supposed to go to Cube on they everything was booked. I was supposed to do a little up I don't know, but died though, So they're not letting nobody in the country, everybody, my mother in law and everybody who had visas and all that, and Peyton he was like, sorry, but I think he's a Cuban citizen, probably has a Cuban When when you see that, Danny, You'll be in requarter weekend and you see that this Fidel Castro passed away, and

it's like mixed reviews. Some people are celebrating and some people are like, oh no, that's that's messed up. What do you? What do you? What are you standing on your political views? Like to be honest with you, like, I'm not from Cuba, so I don't know what the

people go through, you know what I mean? Like, um, so I really don't know, you know, um as far as like you know, I know their communist country, I don't really know, you know, they're so the country is so private that I don't know what they feel about it, you know what I mean. It's like I'm not from there, but if you probably ask, like, you know a Cuban boss and he a person who vince in Cuba and countin America, then he could probably give him answers. But

you be in Cuban b how did you feel? Because I know your parents raised you trying to hate Castro parents, my grandparents, and I was happy for them more than anything because they got closure. Now, you know, because they went through ship. We didn't go through it. They went through it. So you think it's gonna be like a democracy now that it's not that I ain't building a w because I'm coming now. Trump is gonna put Trump

Towers there. I might stay at the Trump Tower. Definitely, something's gonna change because he was such a strong symbol in that country that that's what kept it together for so long. But once he's gone and the people it's already opened up because Obama opened it, they're not gonna let that ship go back. So big hotel, yeah, we need good hotels right so um But Danny Garcia, you you you out here stomping, You do what you gotta do. One thing that I admire is you keep your father around.

He's not here today. I wanta try to get try to get but he's and your father up. Feels like every time you had a problem, he had a problem. He's more like your brother. Yeah, we like we've that man and Robin. Yeah, you know what I mean, so like partners in crime. Like a lot of people can't like me and my pap, the relationship we have a lot of other people don't have like me and my pap. We go to the club together fifty three years old. We party with women. I'm like, that's my Poppy, be

like no time, I'm your dad. You know what I mean, something like we man, we're cool. Man, we just be living. Porter. We get grandfather with the guard right, but Porter mer grandfather. He's like seventy seventy eight eighty at this time. We go to this party and ship. So he's sitting there and he goes, Yo, Poppy, like what's up. He goes, you hook me up with the girl in red And I'm like, your grandfather, this is my grandfa my real Porter. We can grand my real grandfather. He goes hook me

up with the girl in the red. I'm like, yo, your fucking wife is right here. He goes, you know, speaking hold in the day when he got what's that ship called when you you lose your mind all times? When you got all times right. The family kept saying, damn you know, he kept we kept losing them. But every time the woman from the family left, all my uncles was like, how the funk he got all times? He keeps winding up at his big career. He's winded up in a chick career. So let's big up to

the border weekause we're doing that. But yeah, I really admire you for keeping your father around. Most people would have got to a certain extent to set you know what, let me get a trainer or a professional trainer, or even if they did do that, they would have said, it's not I mean, I could have been to that. But me, like, it's not all about chemistry, you know what I mean. You gotta have a good training, but you have no chemistry, and it's just gonna show him

the ring. And at the end of the day, you know what I mean. We've been we had not before, you feel me, So this is all we we just we it's all a profit for us right now. So for me to have another trainer and feed somebody else and don't make no sense and keep keep the money in the family, and I'm like, he talked to you in that in that corner, like when y'all on the

streets or just walking around, he got your back. But when you when you actually go to that corner, he's he's not telling you something that a trainer shouldn't tell you. So it's not it's not even looking like it's coming from a father's perspective. It's looking like coming from a father that's a trainer's perspective. He always give you the right advice, like making me in the face. In my mind, I'll be thinking I'm an expert and ship you know

what I'm saying. So I'll be like, yo, when you go to the corner, and I'd like, damn, Pop said exactly like you know what I'm saying. Like, and just as a Boston fan and as a person, Yeah, this is acio will train. They hate us. They pay you every time and get some really good to have a train come Bob. It's okay. We checked the charts today. They were like number nigeig them up though, man, m up. But so yeah, you keep your father around. You just

had a daughter, correcttion. Congratulations beteen months. Let's make some noise for that goddamn it. I'm just like a christ Child pick up smif T smift TV. I just found Yeah, like dad, CALLI I streets' work in this whole time bad. Let's pick up to the people, though, sperm is bad at sunny d sweat because he knows he's nine hundred with no kids, so he knows he's one of them who's sperm just doesn't work. Your soldiers gave up a long time ago. Your soldiers gave up their nerve quacking.

They said, I'm out, I got snipped. You got snipped, and they tell nobody. But so yeah, and it's not the first time being the father my first child, woaid. Oh, now, Philly sounds like a cool name. But before you said Philly the murder, yeah, right, murder, say that. I was telling my friends. I was, but I was telling my friends and I was like, yeah, I'm a name. I'm gonn name my daughter Philly. Say, man, I don't know, man,

I'm thinking about the hood. I'm like, that's because that's where we're from, right right, Philly is a nice place, you know what I mean. I'm not sure about that. Still cool, I mean, you got the history living Philly still I got the house outside of Philly, but I just moved. I just moved to Florid. Every Yeah, you got it's crazy, right, So we love of love from Philly, mart the whole. They know they're crazy, they man, they know.

So I'm trained in Philly and I try to be out here in between fights as much as I can. But yeah, man, Philly kid till I not what I'm saying. You're gonna live here, but even when you go back to train, you're gonna go back to Philly the train. Yeah, of course, man, I gotta keep that hungry. Yeah, that's hard. I mean, Philly is like, you know, like that's against all lives right there. So I gotta keep that hungry, you know what I mean. That's what keeps me. Grittiness,

you know what I mean. The toughness is what keeps me at my best, you know what I mean. That's just fact. The flower. But not when you're right there, when you go why don't you see palm trees? You get the same hunger as you don't. You don't see a roll home. You don't want to bite the pop story, and I'm gonna want to bite the pit bull. You got a job with Wakie John up the sticks and say you know he ain't say Philly tip. You go jogging down the block, big busting on your first you

know what I mean? What part of you moved to Plantation? Okay, but what part of Philly are you from? From North Philly? Northill with Pete Cracking that lands badly from what do they call it? Baby route? I heard him saying that babe route. That might be a block. Oh no, I think that's ol skin block. I'm getting confused because just thrue different kind of North Phillies. You got to Puerto Rican side, you got the black side I mean, and you go up on the puter weekend side. Yeah, I'm

in the pan inside. Yeah, Pete crack, walup, put on your side to okay, back crack from the Batman skins from Yeah, man, Philly's crazy. Man. You gotta be you gotta be happy for Meek Mill though, Oh hell yeah man? How did you feel? How did you feel? Diering like him and Drake's Uh. I mean I think it was good for hip hop. I just you know, um, he just wasn't in shape at that time for that, you know what I mean? He was in love with Nikki, you know what I mean. So his mind wasn't on that.

But I'm pretty sure if if he was on that ship, he's on now that's the dream chase before. Yeah. Yeah, I'm saying he wasn't making shape for it. Yeah me, he the hottest right now. Yeah, I ain't gonna lie with that record does something to me. I don't know, I know, but I like making before it was on

Colms and Looking Room. If I'm like your old nigger, if you don't like that song, if you weren't your dirties and you're just sitting around not liking that song, you just hate it because that song and U and the Mannequs Challer song, you gotta like it, right. I only get hold program mother. You got that video little cloud pleaser. Man, you gotta love it. Man, you're being to show if you don't like the man, ain't something that way? What's it called? Black Meals? Picked up Bigger

Ray Shrimant man. You know what I'm saying. They are working, working. But you also got a guy from Philly, a little oozy y. Yeah. I don't know him personally, but I met him a few times and him and my assistant from the same neighborhood. So but I met him at Powerhouse, you know what I mean, he's all it's all love. But he took off fast, and he took off fast. Pick him off. Yeah, he man, he didn't waste no time. Big big up, little big up t J dropping my man,

discovering that man. It's too much, it's too much talent in Philly. Me. Everybody can wrapping Philly. Everybody can wrap everybody shout out to the roots. Man from Philly too. Yeah? Is now is boxing becoming the next thing? You feel? Don't you gonna see a gym Boston Boxton gym. It's in the neighborhood I grew up in. I mean, did Junior had a section of Philadelphia Because I feel like if you got like you, Philly always been rapping in Boston. Yeah,

because who who else was all? What's what's? What was in the Hammed Ali movie? Joe Frazier, Joe Frazier, Yeah, but happening he said, yeah, yeah, right, yo, man, right, you gotta start a petition to stop this. He might note, we love you. That's somebody who never not in shape though, Yeah, but no, never not in shape. He didn't either cookies in the nicety the last when the Russian dude dropped him, I was like, I wanted to that guy is supposed

to be most fairy man in boxing. He couln't even I don't sim and say, you're not supposed to do that, right, You gotta have more respect for yourself. You beat him, don't beat him disrespectfully, but get you understand. But um, okay, so now you're from Philly, what's the what's the first major breakout fight where people said Danny gonna Sia, it's the goddess, he's the guy. Um I won when I beat Morales for the title. When I beat Morales for the title and then I beat American, people were still

a skeptical because I'm not them out. I would say the Matifes fight the Matissa, that's like Danny's doing. That was dangerous. Everybody nobody that I was gonna HEAs for Argentina. Yet here like he he was knocking anybody else. You you wore him out. But I didn't understand because I think I only saw one Eric Morale's fight. Why did you fight him twice? I had a rematch clause because he was the champion. Then they gave me one voluntary

defense and then I had to fight him again. Okay, because when I actually did you have one fight that you you thought people thought you didn't win. I thought that was the reason. I would think only some one of the das. But um, you know, my brother, we were just were very very very very very proud of you. I'm just gonna say that, man. You know what I'm saying. I feel like and one of the things that I also want to point out that that I admired you

because you know, drink Champs. We got the very popular show right now. A lot of athletes come to us, and you know, I always actually, you know what you want, you want something, and you told me you wouldn't need absolutely nothing like no alcohol. No, no, you got some minster for me. I meant monster. You were just had it here for the little great people. You drink so our first, you know what I'm saying. So have you ever at one point I heard it was rumors that

you was gonna fight Floyd. Um, it was it was in the media. It was in the media. But nah, we got the same manager, so human think about human. Yeah, so no, we never talked about fighting Floyd. But a lot of people thought because my my phone and team say he fought after me. You know, the whole mix up. You know, it's a promotional thing. But I thought I thought I probably well. But um no, I never he

never chose to fight me. Now, let me ask you something in boxing, because in boxing it seems like you guys all know each other, but on the drop of a dime, you have to throw your relationship away. If that my breaking that down correct or it's not mean like if you're in my weight class, I don't like you. If you're in my weight class, there's no way we're having to be frenzy. Yeah, So when you hung out with Floyd, it was just like, what's up? Walked away?

I mean he's retired supposedly, I mean when he when he wasn't. Um, this is not I'm cooling nobody, you know what? Not in my way. I wish I could have. You should have told me this a long time. I can't. I can't be can be cool in my competition, like I can't be. I know I could possibly fight you

one day. So at me, I gotta hate somebody to fight them because I care for people and ship, So I gotta hate somebody to fight because it seems like it seems as soon as you want that the last fight and Thurman bro it was just like it's something that registered to you, like I hate him now because this this is definitely and it's the contract and signed. Everything's done and it don't change after the fight. You

get cool with them afterwards. I mean, we might show sportsmanship depending on how I feel, but I mean, man, I don't know. Man, I just I'm a savage when I'm in the I can't be cool, like like you can't be cool. I was like, I don't care about them. Youthing like I got my own life going on. You have a relationship with app Jude up prior to prior to your fight now, so this is that was easy. It was just that was just man blood. But now

we're cool, like cool. I see him around, you know, see what's up because I know I'll never fight him again. So it's like that's cool now. But you're active boxing my weight class, it's not cool. So Danny knocks out man Keith Keith one time, Thurman, what who does Danny gotta see a fight after that? They're gonna have, They're gonna make somebody hate somebody else again. You know. It always a newcomer and they're gonna put promotion behind him

to build up the next fight. He feeling me, not Pockyard, Pockyard. That's a possible fight. That's a possible fight. And Floor, I'm back. He's gonna have to fight me because I got you. Hold on, Danny hold on, Danny hold on. That would be I'm picturing I'm put you in the back, in the back, and it's still registered. I can't even look. I'm still the back again. That's so much money to be cooling and then both undefeated. Yeah, oh my god,

oh my god. Now what's what's your biggest audience audience like with like my market as far as boxing, like like where I where I finding the most people, Like yeah, yeah, Brooklyn, Barkley, Yeah, I hold the gate for a boxing event Barkley. Things like yeah, I hold the gate for a boxing event the Barkley Center. And I asked you earlier where you thought to fight you and Keith Therman said, you said, you said Brooklyn or Vega. I feel like that fight

is that big that it deserves that veiggest platform. Yeah, because when it's a huge fight. It's like it's it's a certain respect that the city because that's the town, right, Like you know, Brooklyn is great and it's it's dope, but it's not a certain respect that the whole city is involved. But when it's a Vegas fight, the whole I tell you, man, you're gonna whip his as anywhere. Yeah, But okay, Brooklyn is just the new mega boxing bro. I've only been there with Barkley center on the back legs.

It's killing it right now, right, they're killing that right now. We're boxing. It's a it's a no miss. It's a no miss. But if you preferred, if you had a chance to pick, what would you pick? Because that's what it's up in the air between Brooklyn. I'm gonna I'm happy with both. I'm happy with both. But if I was to Pig, I would say, Vegas this is better.

It's a better looking, it's better financially. You ain't got the extra tax, that New York tax, you know what I mean, And if you fight for that money you want every every time, you know what I mean, They don't tax you in Vegas. They no state tax income federal, yeah, but no state tax. It's you got no state income tax.

You know what I mean. I'm so much of a boxing fan that I stopped going to actual fights because sometimes you're sitting down and there's a guy that jumps in front of you and ship and he paid ten dollarsand to sit right there. You want to be like, yo, my dude, man, put your frank down. Man, sit down. Man. I can't see. But for this fight, I think I

might come out. Let me know I got let's make some the drink chance getting because to me, you know what, I'm a fans of both of you guys, and I actually kind of seen you guys come up and I feel like this is gonna be electric, and I feel like, you know this is the fight. I mean to me, you're already the super champion, you already who you are. But sometimes you know, you know, you gotta face a

big challenge. It's like I followed Floyd his whole career, and he's for the guy who's Who's who's the guy, But then he beat them and he'd be like, oh, well he wasn't Ship and he wasn't. And I'm telling you, if you get through this and you continue, they you're gonna follow the samee. It's not that you ain't fighting craziest fighters. It's like when you fought Matissa. This is gonna take you to the next level. It's just like, um, it's like going to cost for you for four years

and he become a doctor or whatever. You I mean. I already already got my master's degree. You know what I mean. So this is the fight's gonna make me. You know what I mean. Dr Danny Garth said, you feel tylet. It's also been up the Best Buy Lickers. They provided the liquor today. You know what I'm saying. We got that more wet. We's best buying. You ain't at the car you got we got I know what's in kinder. I know we want the color that you got one color rig Yeah, that's it's also big up

the Quicken Loans. This ain't this ain't even though you're trying to do it. Life ain't high. We got hard, get bigger. The best Buy Liquers in Kendall. They got two in Kenda, wonder Range one in Florida City. That's why I checked them out. Best Buy Liquors dot Com. Goddamnit. They provided the liquor today. That's right. Welcome back, Welcome back basketball. I God damn it, we're doing it. And Nick's got Remy on the table. We don't know who's

cutting the check here. If you got a secret on when I come out, don't get big up the sunny DBT. You know, say what's up to the people? Say what's up to the people? Good? Has Mike work? I just need some rose right now. Oh I don't know from shadow because you know why Danny's not drinking, so I'm taking his portion of it, so it's equals itself out Twin, you said this is your new favorite boxer. Come on, say up to my man. Daddy goes up and then it was going on, was going on. I'm a family

for for you, bro. You got my boys inspired in the hood. Shout out to Andrew. Man, he's doing this thing. Man. You know what I'm saying. And I see what you said, twin sisters doing. You know they're going to her family. You know what they're doing to you know what I'm saying. Sisters more than me right now? Yeah, yea. I appreciate the love man, the support manure. So you wouldn't so if you had your pick after this win what you

already said, they're gonna make up somebody. But if you had your pick, um, I went the biggest fight like either Floyd Me, whether many pack y'all that for you too, man. I'm just still looking at the numbers. I mean, it's not to make sure you're gonna change your own. This is the fight where they say, you know, they say this guys, you know one of the best well to wait you for me? Yeah, so after that, there's no weather fight for me and pack y'all nice short to me,

he short. Yeah. When I looked at your square and he has some highs on it ship, you know that's crazy, man, This is this is gonna be any is in March you said four showtime CBS open to this free TV. You feel me bigger? That was a question I had previous premiere Boxing, Boxing Championship Back and Boxing Back on free free television? Now, now is that good or bad? For the know you've been on there like twice. Now it's good for the boxing fans, and I mean it's

good for the fighters. You know, we can't we gett We're getting paid good money. So I think it's it's it's a win for everybody, you know what I mean? How about pay per view? You like pay per view or yeah, of course, um pay per view. Yeah, of course you're gonna get paid if it. If it does good, you get paid more. But if it don't, you know it. That's how it works. Yeah, your bag, you get like a minimum purse, right, like you say, your minimum persons

hunting dollargy feel me. Yeah, and then they'd be like, all right, you're gonna split the pay per view three ways, you know what I mean? And then whatever after what it sut saying, you make another hunt of lollargy feeling that you split in three ways or whatever between you, the fighter and the promoter. But that's why Floyd get paid so much, because he gets the fight at one flat ray and keeps out the pay per view. Yeah, you don't let them get a pay per view revenue.

Make some lord, that's a record deal right there. You know it's crazy. I'm looking at the logo and the two bucksing goloes right behind him. It's just ill right now, look at the logo. Well, but are you looking at the wrong logo? Look right behind them. It just looks at y'all first, y'all, first athlete, Man, y'all, thank you so much. Sure, but man, but listen, man, So how does a kid from the hood, right, he's from Philly, dude snuffed him, he knocked him out and real lows

he got hands. How does he say, instead of me going out and beating up kids in the hood, how do I get started professionally boxing? Like? What are those steps that the kids to be honest with? Um, it's simple to be a professional boxing, don't get it. Don't get it. Mess stuff like as long as you pass your physical and not simple to make money, but simple to be a professional. It's simple to be a professional anybody. You can do your physical, passion physical and then you

get your license and you fight. That simple and that's it. You might get like four or five for promoters want to pick you off. For me, man, I was at the vision, you know what I mean. Like when I was a kid, I always wanted to be a sports star, Like I love sports, you know what I mean. So my vision was like I wanted to be a sports star, and like I said, I played all the sports you know what I mean, And I just love boxing. What made you pick boxing out of all the sports. Well,

you know my dad loved boxing. You know, girl watching Phelix trining dad and grow up watching a lot of great champions, and I just loved I said, shoutout. Box in front of the gym, I mean in front of the popular. You won't because in phil you can't box to your tenant because insurance don't cover for kids. So when I went when I was younger. I went when I was seven, and then they found out my age and I come box. So then um my pap had went to um my pop went to college for like

three years. You know what I mean. Yeah, I believe I went away for I was my poper went away for three years. And then I used to always talk to me. He said, um when you get when I get out of you know, when I get out of college, and I'm saying, I'm gonna take you to the gym. And we stepped in when I was ten and I never turned back. Just make some most that what was your toughest fight to you? What was the fight that you thought like, forget the critics, forget what everybody said.

What was the time when you got hurt of something, when you got hit and you just you stood it act like you wasn't hurt, but you was hurt. Um to be honest with you, like every fight was hard in a way, you know what I mean. Everybody has a Yeah, everybody has a different style, a different style, so that you gotta adapt to each fighter. But something I'm a fighter might be fast, I find it might be powerful. I find it might be smart. So you're

gonna learn. You're gonna learn on each fight. So I think every fight was tough in a way, especially when you find at the championship level, you're gonna go in there, they're gonna give you different looks, and as a champion, you gotta go in there and make it. Do you study tapes? How these how do you see people? I don't study mini taps. I might watch one fight just to see what I'm having in front of Just one is enough for you, Yeah, I just watched like four

rounds of something. I just want to see what's in front of me, like at that vision in my head, how he's going to be in front of me, so that way you can like play all my head. I don't remember remember the dude that Fort Floyd made whether his father was Mexican to what was it, Guerrero. Yeah for him to you beat him up to now he's to right to because I remember he's a little shorter than me. Yeah, this look mad twaller than you on TV. Man. If I'm talking to him to yeah, I'm trying. Yeah,

I'm trying to go. Yeah, I'm talking to Floyd. Yeah, I'm talking for my weight class. You know I'm not talk guy, I'm not nine. You know what i mean? Average you feel, but I'm big for my weight you know what i mean. I thought he was mad figer than you. No, No, I'm talking to him. No, how about Okay, doesn't break down to the wever fight because y'all father's was beating a little bit. Yeah, yeah, there was about to fight. Yeah, we're gonna right. You gotta

see what he's just posting. Man, this ship crazy man, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on him bro possibly going hand man follow crazy and you on Instagram crazy and guy sill you feel me? Look that's for Keith Thurman. That's awesome. Say people here, that's what said the third shot man. That is right now. Whatever whoever you fight, that is the enemy. He's what you on And we're riding man a part of the world. That's how it mean. Sometimes that's how I gotta be. Man.

So now it's there one fight that you ever had and you was like, if I had a chance, I would have did this better. Party every fight, Yeah, you could, you criticize yourself like, because I know what I'm capable of, you know what I mean, So I know my full potential. I know what the best Danny Guard said could do. But that I said before, I'm just I'm learning every fight, you know what I mean. But every fight I feel like I could have did better. I mean even my

best performances. I was like, damn, I could have knocked him out. But then even though I had a great fight, but I'll be like, man, I could have knocked him out, or I could have did this, I could have did that. So every every fight, I never I don't know, I would think I could do better. You know what I mean. No, man, you you've been doing excellent. So let me actually bought other fighters. Right now, we feel about Earl Spence. Good fighter, he's a good fighter. He's not in your weight classes

in the stand way. Okay, now you know your own promoter as well. Yeah, my last fight was DG Promotions. Well, my last three fights with DG Promotions? What made you do that? You don't want to split the bag? No, I mean it's it's of course you want to. I want to start building my own promotional company. I got two fighters also on Swipt Promotions. What's the responsibility to be your own promotion company? What does that mean? Well,

you know, you're promoting the fight, you know what I mean. Now, get to have fighters fight on my on the car, you know what I mean. I'm doing to my company and Floyd kind of like that. Back then that was unheard of fighters. Yeah, and they promoters and if they did do it, most fighters didn't succeed. Yea, exactly. It's a lot of work. But you gotta have a good team, you know what I mean. But me, I got two

fighters under me, two young fighters. They both undefeated. Once Thomas velasco As he's six and oh he's actually another he's a Puerto Rican Philly too. Yeah. And my little cousin, Jeffrey Tourists, Um, he's two and oh he's another you know, Philly Rican. You know what I mean. You signing, Yeah, signing Puerto Ricans. That's all talking about right coming back right when I created the Swift Promotions, I was the first Latino. I was the first Puerto Rican champion ever

from Philadelphia. I'm the first Latino to become a world champion ever from Philly. So before me, it was no lane, you know what I mean. It was just like, why go to Philly and get to Puerto Rican where you could go to Puerto Rico and make Phelix Trindon, Dad Miguel cold and they got a country behind them, said that, why go to North Philly and you know, go to that and go to that market, you feel me? So

they always overlooked that. So what I did was I was like, you know what I mean, I signed all kinds of fighters, But I was like, since I opened up that lane for Puerto Ricans and Philly, I'm I'm gonna start. I'm gonna start giving more Puerto Ricans to boxing Philly more exposure because there's so much kids in Philly they could fight, but don't get the attention and the exposure and they deserve. So I feel like that's that's my way of giving back, you know, to the

Philly Ricans. Now, how does the Islands of Puerto Rico because for us rapping lots of times, most of them, they don't look at us like Porto Rican. They look at us like they even they even have a word for us. They call us New York. Right. That's why I say Philly Rigan, Yeah, because it would be kind of tough. I mean, I'm would be like black niggers going to be like you're my cousins from That's what I'm from, Harlem. It's like I can imagine in boxing

is hard for American Puerto Rican. I can't imagine in rap music you think it wasn't. I can't imagine how hard it is, Yeah, for Puerto Rican and rap music to be successful. That Joe this, big him up him head right, big him up, because they still called Puerto Ricans and divided he's dope for Puerto Rican. They still say that. They don't. They don't Joe's hot. They don't say he's a dope. MC hates that big punt. See, it shouldn't be like that. It shouldn't be divided like that.

I re Puerto Rican, We Puerto Rican just because we was raising Philly, were raised in a different place, and you don't make it's not Puerto Rican, you know what I mean, and not my fault was reason I was raising around. And it took year you telling me as for me to come as a as A, as A, as A, as A, as an American artist that is Puerto Rican. It took years for me for the island to accept me. But it took like for my ten years. This wasn't a quick thing like I wasn't. It wasn't

like y'all grabbed him like you know. In Puerto Rican. It was like, cool, you're the one of us. No, that's one of us. But I feel like it maybe he's one, but I feel like that's growing though. Like the Puerto Rican hip hop community, it's getting big. In ten years from now, it's gonna be bigger, you know what I mean, Like people like you. Joe is the one who opened up for me. We got know what I mean. We got the Puerto Rican Parade getting huge in Chicago, or do we get Day parade and Philly.

There's even a quarter we Day parade now in Los Angeles. And they got the rock Steady thing in Puerto Rico. The rock was trying to be funny, no true, I was about to laugh. I was like that was a good one when you're young. Okay. Welcome to play a new podcast network featuring radio and TV personalities talking business, sports, tech, entertainment,

and more. Play it at play dot It. We're back to Drink Champs Radio with Rapper and R and d J. Then so Yo being a boxer at the end of the day, Dan ye I see, you're always respectful, you're always happy, but in the ring you're a different beast. How do you turn it off? And then how do you turn it on? And then how how do you know when to turn it off? It's like it takes me, like to be honest with you, after that fight, taking me about two or three weeks to beat myself again. Yeah,

because you still pumped over my mind. I would be so focused for the fight, like you trained for months, right, being focused on one night, and once that night is over, you just can't snap out of it. It's like you thinking about the next You're like funking, I'm gonna go back and then get ready for the next one. You just fuck So it takes about two or three weeks for me to like be normal again and not think about boxing and things like that. But it's just like

you know, the the hunger for the sport. You know what I mean, the training camps, the division, the tunnel vision is just like you know, everything is staying away from a girl, you know what I mean? You stay away from some some pussy for two weeks two months, Bro, you're gonna get like a cage dog. Got that you're telling me? Boxes really don't funk with what the fun? I don't before the night Wait a minute, Wait a minute, this is a different one. And how long before before?

They said two months? Two months? But you were training for eight week training camp. So during the eight weeks test, testops and the like, if you can't sit dog. I had a couple of times just sticking in, oh shiploading ship. Think about that ship in the think about that ship. You're walking out to the ring like damn, I could never ship had a couple of yards not holding me that. I had a couple of man then I don't even want to say man, but ship I was okay. Nobody's

looking to nobody, never man. All the young kids out, they don't have seens before your fight, man, get the guys, where are the cameras on? Because I thought that was fotel No testops from It's like you keep a dog away from you know, they get a dog, don't heat, he'd be trying to killers master testops makes you more. I don't know. Somebody do two years and it comes from a football. He's gonna throw that like a hound in twenty yards. Yeah, but they check it off every

day in jail. So that's a bad example. That's some type of nuts being busted in jail. Like it's just really it's like I think it's put a sock on. They sound like, you know what, I know what that means. They like this, niggas went Suxie again. You know what Susie is. So Susie is a plastic It's a plastic glove. Right, So what they do is that's what y'all call it, but we call it the Suxie when we was at right. Look, so you take a plastic glove, right, it would change

your life. Damn. We're in the cab they can take because I'm I'm I'm working in the mess hole. I'm working like a infirmary and niggas is going crazy for stealing a plastic glove. So I'm like, I don't know what's going on. So I'm like, I'm like, you know, I'm not what the fun is. You know, everybody's stealing plastic gloves. So they're like, what the fund is this plastic glove shit. You're like you don't know, and I'm like, no, I don niggas like I put the nigg on. So

we're gonna put your heat up tonight. So in myself they controlled the heat. This is other inmates, the Saint CEO's by the way. So then Nyga told me he grabbed the plastic glove, put it in a towel, rolled it up, put a rubber band around it, and they said, leave this on your heater, right, so you leave it on your either already at the end of the night, you take it boom, you got your little Johnson's Johnson go that game and fake it wett and ain't thing me like you If you agent is good, you were

never locked up for that moment. You was in some real was he I love me in his home? If that's still fucking Susie, Cause I'm just I'm just telling you do it all right. You see you can't you can't do it in Florida because you ain't got no heat out here. Yeah, ain't got but listen, like I was sweating thinking about it. Man, ibout the list you missed women in my mind on the Susie in jail, if there's the jail, I'm so sorry, the interview that

if we're all over the place, Danny don't work. It is what it is, is what it get your nut off straight chest, and this is normal time. We asked the guests to take a shot, but we're gonna have your people take a shot. You right, you look like you need a shot. Come on, get okay, let's get one shot to take a ball. Come on, we shot shot? Yeah, train, that's what's sir, But it's but it's earth thinking about the Susie. Yo, that was the time in my life. Man, I'm about in jail. You ever take a shot? Was

taking the shot? Shot? How many shots? One shot? Of these shots? Take? Yeah? Him? Right? Then come on, Bolo your fighting? Oh yeah, all right, I like that. I don't think about it. Just take it down. Just take it that one dude. Look at that. You're back to life. Who your life is? Your life Your life is secure now, your life is securing. That's tiger bone. It's the worst thing ever been black tigging bone. I don't even sound but you never drink or you was discipline. You never drink,

never smoke, not even not evern smoking my life. Never smoked, never smoke weed in my life. How does a kid from Philly you'll life you call my ownies man? Yeah, d too. So I'm not saying you're gonna walk around you can go. Yeah, you're walking around knocking days down because it's not like but if you get into something, you'll be red, you'll be into, you'll be trust my posession. Yeah yeah, so yeah, I'm right what you were saying I forgot. Yeah. Right, what we do man, Man, we're

proud of you. Man. We want you to continue doing what you gotta do. We're not finishing this and big up the best bart liquers once again. They got four locations everywhere, bick up the Monster, pick up to Quick and Loans. We know we're supposed to do an ad, but this this is how we're gonna do it right. We got to market. Loans been holding us down. I'm about to get up. I'm about to get a crib on quiz my quick. You know what I'm saying, mortgage

and all that you know what I'm saying. All the people, big up the bevil, big up the uber, bick up the ubaba cit getting my uber credit. You've been getting your UGL credit. We don't get were credited. You saw the email to coming They said, Uba boat, which one we want to take? We supposed to take one of those planes. That's hard. That's shout out to the helicopter. Get that bar made up. Shout out to the helicopter Uba. Did she actually speak that to assistance? They shout that

exclusive exclusive all the way up. Producers in helicopter they've been They do it for like special events. Do ship me? Mom said it, Hey there, you gonna put up in the next plane. Yeah. And then helicopter they were like damns, They said, do you get Google credits? Ug And they're doing it with EF and vodka, F and vodka Ye,

big up vodka and um what is it? And they got the land and and they got the boat, the boat, they got special SUVs limos, they got the helicopter on the plane they got and it's a boat plane joint that takes off from the ocean. Definitely water that parting. I ain't see that. I feel like some eight team ship. But I'm man, let's do it. I had handled should be like had I missed the t right now? It's Danny ain't drinking with us, but you trinking monster, That's

what He's the first guest of Drake Monster. So we're we're we're coming up. Who was? Who was? Who was some of the greats that you looked up to? Boxing? Um Felix Trining, Dad Princeton, I've seen my man. I love that dude. Um Roy Jones Jr. That my man? But hold up, yeah, but not Hopkins? Um, who do you says that? Childs Um? Yeah, fighters like that, man, it's exciting, fighters with power, withstyle and say with Bert with Duran, Oh man, he's yeah, I forgot but that

wasn't my era, So I didn't grow watching. Yeah, I would have would have thought your pops would have showed you something. But yeah, no, no, Yeah, watched Duran for sure. I mean he I think he agreed his laying fight ever, best top five fight ever. Now just just read five one of the best evern just recently undefeated fighter just quit on the stool. Yeah, I've seen that. You've seen that. What was who? Who was he fighting? Um? Not much long with I guess Walters right, Yeah, how did you

feel as a as an undefeated fighter? Do you think a champion is supposed to quit from his stool? You gotta kill me. I'm just leaving at that. That's how I feel. I ain't even a box Yeah, what the NK? Didn't come jamaking? Yea? Why ya ya? He said? You know what he said? No, he said this thing is Jamaica. Why don't even know what that means? Making you know it's crazy? Though Durant said he never said that, said

he said yeah, said that. He said he never said that, but he did quit though he did, he did say, he did say yeah, He said that. He never said no. Mosses just sounding people made up but he but he did not. He did. He did give up. I don't know what he did. But but in your opinion right now, would you ever do something like that? You can't. Can you look at the person like a real boxer or even a real champion. I mean, I don't know a situation. But he didn't have a bruise on his face. He

didn't look that. He looked like he could go to the whole twelve to me, I mean in the dude, what was it? Loma Chenko he's he's he's good, but it was like it was kind of like it was like American style, like yeah, so like who he think he would be. I'm not saying I think Lomachenko is actually ill. Yeah, me too, but don't don't he got a lost. I think he's like he's seven and one one yeah, and he say he's alright, I'm three and two weight classes and I ain't come from This is

politics and where is he from? He from Ukraine? From Ukraine? They don't give American fighters deserve that. I mean, it is what it is working on because I mean, I think the kid is talented, but like the way they told about them, they took them like me. That's one thing I give it by HBO. They really make people believe because they do that. I don't fight away, I'm not HBO fighting. I fight on PBC. You feel me? So HBO. They know they they really make the public

believe that they fighters are the best. Like they go off, they make their own path for pounce you feel me, and people go off that list like those are really the better path about fighters? Politics that they poisoned the mind people fighting Night too. Yeah, but that's that's HBO. They don't never talk about Danny Garcia. You feel me, they're gonna talk about every fund with HBO. I didn't get that. Yeah, it's like always two differents, like three

different divisions in Boxton. So when you say you PB it PBC, that's Premier Boxing champions that's not showtime. So you're like a free agent. Yeah, I'm quick any promotion. He was my manager. Yeah, but PBC was created for off championship for fighters to find on regular TV. So if you're on PBC, you find on regular TV and now and and that bag is crazy when it's regular TeV show because everybody could get it for free, so you get more viewers. So it's more it's like the

advertising people on HBO. I'll tell you that much probably triple what they make. This is deep. There's probably a lot of room for negotiation on that one because of the advertising potential, commercials. I mean, you know, it's just we're just getting PBC getting money, man, PBC, you're losing money. Man, I didn't know where the money. Yeah, you feel you didn't even care about the pound of pound rakers and none of that ship did you know that you make

and quit. You didn't know that you didn't get this and that you're making inquired why, yo, you should have got this? Man, Indies, the whole what's indies should not come outside to day. I'm gonna be honest. When nobody seen this fight, I'm the only thing you've seen the fight and it was like, what was it like the sixth round? It wasn't seven something and he was like no, and he said no mars like I was embarrassed, Like what did he said? He said that he was you know,

rebirth of the Rand when he fought Sugar Ray. He said that he didn't want to um. The full story is folklore is that Sugar Ray was whipping them and Duran didn't want to take it no more, didn't want to change him no more. So he said no, moms. And that's like the first time like a guy's a real, real champion. But that moment it was like kind of

like being a sucker. And especially in the boxing board was he beat Sugary Landing before that he did, he beat the Garded first time, lost I think King the second fight and then exchange with him and the rain was like you want to run like you know, you want to run them him. Yeah, and there was no third But did they fight three times? No? They didn't. There. I gotta watch that movie. I didn't see that me that hands the stone right and I got to watch that.

I wanted to see that. Who did the movie? Usha? He was sugar, he was sugary. At first I didn't, I did. I look. I was a certainty that he was doing his thing. He was doing his thing. Great boxing mole, great boxing mole. So what's what? What's what's your favorite boxing movie? When I was a kid of some a movie called Price of Glory. I don't know if anybody ever seen that movie. It's about three kids, three Mexican kids, and their dad trained him and like

one one that got caught up in the streets. One the younger one. He was supposed to be like the pride and joy like he was the start like he was like the he was supposed to be like, and he got somebody killed him. And then it was the one brother he had like losses like he had. He had a tough career and then he was doing and became a champion because of his you know, his two brothers and ship and that was a movie that motivated you.

It was just a movie, like it's just how it really be, Like you know what I mean, Like it's how to been, you know what I mean. So what you would have said, Rocky just affiliate on the strength. I mean the Rocky was cool, you know what I mean? Rocky, Rocky his neighbor you know, like what neighborhood was rock Yeah, let me make sure. Yeah, that's the point side of it was was it really meat packet? Like he sniffed coke? That he that South Philly when he ran to the

Rocky steps Dar Museum. He ran from North Philly all the way to South Philly. And that's what made it like, you know, he's like a hard working man. How far is that? Like that's like, bro, that's like twenty five miles. You think out, yeah, we're right around. Then I want to. I want to. I want to come work out with you one day, come to come to Philly. Go we just do a drinks. We got everything at the I'm going to work. I got a barbershop there. Let's work

out here, safe fire. How you're going in Philly? You got on my outside? Yeah? Yeah, get me the kid on here. Did we say that? Get it? The kid like up, I talked about Guilly all the time. I mean I talked to Guilly all the time. It seems like that. Yeah cool, yeah, right, that's like yeah exactly. He's like probably one of them closest rappers I'm close to and Gilly So that's my homeboy man. How about Beans? Yeah, being's cool too. Um. Beans came to a couple of

my fights. But I remember he went away for a little bit, so he just came back. So I haven't seen him since then. But yeah, it means he old supported my career. He's always been a big fan of me too. So he's been He went to my fights when I wasn't even that champion like big right, he was there for like my thirteen professional fight, you know what I mean. And Philly when I fought up in South Philly. So say, you always been one of my biggest supporters that. Yeah, he's been to a couple of

my fights too. He went to was definitely the last one. Yeah, he walked out with me. Yeah he went to them with t say fight but me me doing this thing. So he come in, you know, you do his thing, I'm doing my thing. And even if they have to fight, they support you the whole exactly. Generation supports y'all want you to know that, you know what I'm saying. So now, how do you how do you when you fight a

different fighter, do you train different for that fighter? Like if the fight is fast, do you do a certain type of you know ship. So you're like, you know, we're bringing spart partners who you know, trying to emulate. Yeah, but me, I know I put in hard work. You feel me, like, I don't do nothing. LA's nothing harder you feel me. We always working smart than hard, you know what I mean, working on our mistakes, Um, putting that role, work in putting that sparning. And that's pretty

much it. Right now, let me ask you something because boxes nowadays they're not only traditionally training now they're doing like, um, they'll do they'll they'll do the regular you know, speed bags, that all that scientific traditional trainer. Yeah, I gotta condition to cold. We also screwed up. We don't use like stimulation devices and ice ship. Yeah, we really do the rocket ship like we like chopping wood. And you know, yeah, I changed the chicken. I changed the chicken before that

shouldn't made espn Um top ten. Yeah yeah really so that was like number two on the list Chasing the Chicken. I changed the chicken and I want a damn knockings in my career, and I made top ten by chasing the Chickendamn damn. I'm about to chase the chicken some more. Chicken man, you out here killing them making money. We're proud of you, not only as me as a Puerto Weekend, not only as me as a human, but me and not only as me as a hip hop guy, you

as a boxer and athletes. I think it's so dope when athletes embraced the music because we know that's what y'all listening to, why we're training, and why we're training. We're thinking of y'all. You know what I'm saying. We're like, this is how you know, but Danny would would train, This is how all, this is how Florida Wood, this is how you know what I'm saying. So we love when the athletes embraced us and we brace each other back, and you know, like I said, we're proud of you.

We want you to continue to do what you do after you get this w We want you to come back to the Drink Champs or any time you want to promote anything that the Drink Champs. You know what I mean. This is here, this is your platform. You want a couple of your homies, a couple of guys to come and say what's up so they can shout out their people if they're cool. It's my nigga name Bo. Y'all forgotlo Bolo Bolo. You want to say something to you right right there, my brother, my brother, where you
