The two brothers that we are interviewing today, in true form, they broke Drink Champs history right now. It's the first time we've ever recorded. We got avocado tos avacadoun because it's frost sign of chance and true drink chance fashion. They broke all the rules. But let me just describe

the two brothers that are sitting right here. When we talk about producers, when we talk about curators of the music. When you talk about people who can produce whole projects, people who take artists and make artists not just make a beat. These are producers, producers. I've worked with both of them. I've seen them from the beginning. I've seen them to now. Their passion, their determination has been impeccable. Both of these brothers came together for something that day

was passionate about. That day was you know, going, and then they created this whole nomenon during this pandemic, and if you don't know what I'm talking about, we're celebrating that today. These brothers, when we needed something and everyone was quarantining or dying, literally, these brothers got together and they Chase showed what hip hop is about, what music is about, what celebration is about. And I personally are proud of both of them. I couldn't wait to get them.

We had them on Zoom with Zoom made the scene, and we've had them individually and individually, but we got them today and they battled. They stay looking at each other like they're about to go at it today for it's a night that happens. In case you don't know who we're talking about, we're talking about motherfucker's Swiss beaching.

Not the one thing that I could tell about both of your brothers, all the money, all this, you guys still are competitives, like you still don't want Tim to Win's like, oh, you're not gonna let that at I mean, you know, made the best man survive. We're gonna survive. Now we're gonna go to the world room. You got me good yet? So it's the first it's it's the first time when y'all did it, because I've seen y'all were hearsing yesterday, so we were you really we heard

So it kind of started way before the Summer Jam and Summer Jam was a re reunite switch, like we should do what we started Summer Jam to go crazy because what made you because I remember you battling, just what made you say I'm a partner up with him? Like it wasn't um, It wasn't like that at first.

So me and Tim had a strategy. It was actually a marketing strategy five records and this is even before he he just said, So the strategy was, you know, let's let's do something interesting for music let's do two albums and let's verse our albums, this before the concept diverses. Yeah, wait a minute, Wait a minute. So yeah, I was waiting. You know, you gotta say that. Slide that over, y'all. Wait a minute. Y'all I did was to do two

albums and say which two albums together? Now, but y'all pick out what artists will be on ways, because listening to your playlist, y'all pretty much work with the same mother puckers were. So how would that would have happened? I don't know. I think we still have to still do it. I think it's still I think if we was gonna do he do five, I do five, something like that. Now, I wasn't like it was like he had his album. Whatever he put on his album was was gonna be his album. Whatever I put on my

alm is gonna be my album. And we was gonna drop those albums the same day, and then we was gonna go on tour. And when we was on tour, he he had a guest to pull out, and I had a guest to pull out from East Town that we didn't know who it was. So that was gonna be the verses tour. That's the downfall about today is I know y'all got surprises, and you know we can't

they can't blow it up. That's the only downfall about this, this this episode, because I'm going on, I'm gonna go to live and I'm getting drunk today and then I'm gonna I'm a sober up. But the timing of what me and Tim did worked and moved

the culture. And that's why we're here to day, and that's why we're partners because what we did actually worked, and the timing worked for us, and it worked for the people, And um, I couldn't have a better partner than than Tim. The way it evolved, Yes, you know that's my brother love. If we do everything together, like we're running stuff by each other. I couldn't have picked a better partner. And I was actually doing this whole

whole you know, pandemic. I realized, like yeo, we've really been free since my whole producer career and never really celebrated our friendship. And this time helped me to realize how much this man means to my life and how much he lifted me up doing my producer career. Like yo, Swiss was there. He gave me talks when I was down. He don't even know when I was down, but he always was there to give me talks and always encouraged me. And you don't realize who's your real friend because you'll

be moving so much in the world. Slowed me down to say we never we don't we agree about everything. You know what I'm saying. I respect him as a big brother, and I go to him and he said, Tim, what your time? What you think? Because I look at him, it's a like always love how he curate beats and music. His curation was always so impeccable at me. So I always looked up to him for you know, just to quick at my advice and see what if I'm on point? Yeah,

vice versa, you know what I mean. Like, it was always amazing to watch Timerland produce so many big artists outside of hip hop because it was you know, it was it was. It was a lot of producers in hip hop. But to see Timerland be able to bounce outside of hip hop and to come back inside of hip hop, like it inspired me to do rock and all the different genres that I did. Was just seeing him being successful and you know, like coming from Virginia.

You know, it's like coming from Virginia. It wasn't like coming from New York or coming from l A. Like He's making a name for himself from from v A. And I thought that was pretty epic, right, uh, yeah, that makes a noise for that. Goddamn it? Who bet on the night? Who was betting on I'm betting on that after we do this, whoever come after us? You know what I'm saying, Like because she was on the rise, not only was music great together, that was my sister. And he said she was on the rise. That's crazy because for a person outside looking I thought I think I thought she was superstars, She's superstar? Was there was more? Right now, I'm running things and you know that death. I'm not

gonna lie. That's why I tell people I will say this. What really bothered me is before she died, we got a little like argument and you know, that kind of like stuck with me for a minute. But I did get to say, you know, like you know we were brothers and sisters. I love you. And it wasn't a sign of anything, like it wasn't none because that's just a plane. Yeah, And you know, my brother freaked out.

He thought I was a ghost at the funeral because I'm always with her, and he just broke down because he didn't think I was real. He didn't thought I was real because he know that I'm always with her, so that it's you know, it affected me for a while. I think it affected all of me and Missy Like if you look at our albums, we could have done more, but our spaces and time was we I just didn't have the the energy or the the willpower to go on, you know. So it was a little hard, but I

got through it. That j that j embrace and hug got me through it. Now speaking speaking um you Swiss, like right now, you don't want they hadn't have time to grieve, like you know what I'm saying, Like you want to basically you gotta you gotta keep this man's legacy alive, and you know, switching it up, you know what I mean, because I just want to actually straight up. When you was at the funeral, you said, yo, I don't want you all to show up now, you know,

I want you all to be there while he's alive. Right, everyone was implicated Swisses talking about Earth got because Irv Got he had said something. I just want to actually straight up and you can ask what you whatever way you want. I wasn't talking about Earl gud Or though, I don't. You know, I told everybody this ain't like the way he handled Dog. Um, I'm putting out the information,

putting out the end of it. You know what I'm saying that I think he could have dealt with Dog a little bit more classy in because of their relationship, and you know, he felt that he felt he felt that that was wrong. So I wasn't going like overdo it. I'm saying because everybody's emotional. But like even at the funeral, when I said what I said, it was because of need people many things, and you know, I was very very close to the dog, and up until his last days.

We just finished the record, so I was current on all his events and X only one in love. He didn't want money, he didn't really care about success that much. You just want to riding moo, control cards, play, you know, drive his four wheelers, play pool. Very simple guy. But it was certain people that he really wanted love from that it was hard for him to get the love from. And so when I seen them people now showing up and and now making that day about them, I just

had an energy, you know what I mean. And I felt like X came through me and and and and made me say what I had to say. You know what I'm saying, by the way, that that mirror was very beautiful over there. You know what I'm saying, That mirror was very beautiful. Damn, he totally forgot even went up the whole crowd. I was like, yo, we camp filmed this nowhere else like X and the same chip. Yeah, and you know, he don't do interviews at all, so like we just talking crazy because he loved your show.

That was a special moment. This is this is this is this was his show. Like like literally he literally found out where I lived, booked the hotel next to me, and just we just killed like we did nothing for three weeks, like just like six weeks. I'm told about every single day and I knew the person that was there that day was a different dog, Like that was a different he was coming on time, like I was working with him, Like, yo, I'm like a different he

was a different dog. And that's what that's what when we made this album, that's what the focus was. That's why every song on this record is not shoot him up, kill kill. You know. We started the record off hard, and then he gets into different zones. He you know, he wanted to embrace his age. He wanted to embrace his and he was like, Yo, I'm tired of doing this this this probably gonna be my last album. Not because he knew he wasn't gonna be here, but he was.

He was getting ready to get married to his fiancee. He was he had a bunch of movie and TV you wanted to do. He wanted to be around his kids more. He was signing him to drinks podcast that he was doing those type of days, you know, And it was his fiftieth birthday and he just wanted he wanted to go to the next level. Like I knew it was changing when he asked. When he was like, yo,

you know what I want for my birthday? I was like, what he said he wanted a Rose Royce in his He would come out here and that's what he told, these Rose voices out there told and I would like, you know, kind of get the old school card. He wanted the Rose ye. So Mr Lee is funny, he was up. I got actually picture with me and him

and the Rose voice he told me. But the thing about the Rose ray because I'm like, all right time he wants this, letna get this first fifty one birthday And so I was like, okay, well what kind of rolls race she won? And he was like the two thousand and ten Phantom, imr lead, I'm telling you, I said, with the color in Oh yeah, okay. And he knew he knew, he knew all of the roads races, so it wasn't like he was just stuck on that. He knew specifically what he wanted. Actually a quick time with

swap slide. We asked him what did you like better, the new school cars or the old school He still picked the old school car, but he said he still remember Rose the ways. He just you missed the whole story man, the Fantom two thousand ten Fantom, the DMX. What was he? What was in um when we drove around that day. Was it was it the the Fantom? But this is my brother.

He's like, all right, cool, he said, come on, come on, come on, let's let me pull you up. Man. You know what I mean. So so so X comes come. That's crazy. So X comes and he'd be hanging out. He has this gold Hennessy bottle, right, and he goes Joe, they only made a cup one of him. So I'm like, okay, we wind up hanging out chilling. He leaves the gold Hennessy bottle in my house, saying, right there, I will hit picture and that gold Hennessy bottle. Oh, I selled

it because I don't drink. But two, I felt like that was his gift to me, Like, this is a gold Hennessy bottle. This is what he loves. And it was crazy because I called him the next day and he goes, He goes and really don't pick up the phone. So when he picked up the phone, it's like, ah, so he picked up. He's like, I know I left the Hennessy right said yeah. I said, y'all, can't let you just leave that? Yeah, I want you to waste that. He's like, no, no no, no, no, don't worry. I'm gonna

come back to the crib. And they came back to the crib. That's the day I got a little ass dog like this, what is it? I got a Yorkie. That's the day he turned my Yorkie into a pit bull. I kid you not. He hit it with my little dog. I said, what the funk? I didn't even know my dog bar That's how Actually, I'm sorry I went too far. Want to do. I just saying, I just said, y'all missed the dog man. Yeah, he's talking to my dog bro like really like, yeah, you know the first time.

He's just by the way that I'm gonna say this. We're gonna, we're gonna get in summer. The first time I met DMX Real Talk Battery Studios, his dog walks in jungle, pushes the dog out something. The dog went and told d m X. The dog said, Yo, they just did something. X walks in the room by himself and the dog, and he said, don't like dogs. We all flipped that he was, you know, back the only I heard that from a lot of people. He was

great with dogs. Dog his pinky toe now was a dog now swear to dogs like yeah, yeah, actually not that dog tone now. Yeah, I don't know. I wouldn't. I wanted could he like do that from bons and tigers. I feel like he had a gift. Oh you got that notep. But that's the point, Like the dogs man like a pit, the pit like you know what I'm saying, that's not that's the control of pits. Some pits go off.

I didn't see him just control of pit. I seen him control anything he appreciated the little tear of the dogs. He explained that to us, and he felt the dog was more loyal than a human. So let's get into this album Exodus. First time we heard DMX really collab, like really collapsed. He was proud of his collapse. I don't know if you know, actually because he had did the record with Benny the Butcher, but he never met.

So he was out here in Billy's and I called Benny the Butcher because like, oh, it's like I gotta flight. I said, this is the person you miss your flight fall, you know what he said. And Benny came and I was seeing X played the album, playing most of it. I didn't hear the Jay record, I didn't hit the NAS record. Um, I didn't hear the Marvin Gaye record. But I pretty much heard a lot of a lot of everything else to be able. And he was really proud,

like he was really really really proud. How how was that process going through this? It was great because just seeing his evolution and seeing him wanting to take things at a different level and actually, you know, making this album a priority, like we was in the studio every day, you know. Twelve twelve noon and it was a real schedule and then after that he was going to do a two month workout schedule before we came with the album. So we can get it, you know, get him in shape.

But you know, a lot of people I'm looking. You know a lot of people are used to the old X, and you know we're never going to get the old everyone or anyone. You know, we gotta allow people to grow. So you know, we we could have had, like I said, we could have had a bunch of murder murder up songs, but he X listen to R and B music, X got sold. You know, EX like to tell stories, which is why you hear Marvin Gaye and Snoop and how you sound comfortable on those records, Him and Bono, him

and him and my wife. He talked about what I'm saying and like those I was glad that he was opening up his new chapter to allow collaborations and things that happened because those people that's on this album really love him. And was that suggestion, um oh, that was something that he wanted to do. Well, you know, this album, we wanted to get him back to the chair and his level that he deserved to be on and it

was like, you know, we're gonna come back. Let's let's kick the whole doors off the hinges, you know, and bring and bring and bring a couple of people with us too, so the world can know that he has that type of support, you know. And and he was with it. He was loving it because he figured and he also figured out he had that he could do

less work. He was like, oh if he just only got to do this many bars, yeah, you know, so he was he was smart about but he was each each feature helped him go to the next level, you know, like when Usher came in in there to do you know, he was he was black and I heard it without us you on it, he probably did okay, okay, you know, and then my wife told me the studio, you know, just everybody one second. I said, X just wanted to love. So he was getting to love and you know, Bino

writing him letters. And he was proud of it. He was really proud of because because it's so funny at X fashion, he's like the guy from you Too, and I'm like, no, you don't know posted the album and said, I said, that was wow, that's my that's that's that's the joint though not switching up because you know we bounced around right now you're in the studio with Justin Timberland. Yes, how is that going. It's going good, It's going good. I feel the energy is right. Um, I feel this

energy is right. We got we got what we gotta like about good six great ones. Now you're gonna produce the whole joint. Yeah, with a lot of other people. We got Scott on it. I've seen Scott. You got Scott deep Mouse, got the whole be club, our whole crew, um, Danger, Me and Danger. So it's like as everybody, you know what I'm saying. I'm trying to invite everybody to the to the party ahead. He's the next person we because

he dot it's gonna be. I want to get Swiss and I want to get labyrinthy those two to get with him because I feel like, especially after hearing Scott Scraper, he definitely needs Justin need that type of record. He needs some type of something like that. That's what's missing. I love what Justin did on a college album. That's

what I'm saying we need. That's why I said Labyrinth would be dope with Swiss A Swiss beat on that right and to it because it's it'll be a perfect justin with all this success, all this Uh, I've seen him walking call home by himself, Like is that is he crazy? Like I mean, I'm asking because I don't know, Like like I mean, we just at that point where we're just living life. I don't think he'd looked at it like that. I think likes Miami become the new l A, like we could just walk around by us.

I believe, I believe. I believe it's kind of like that by itself. Yeah, but Miami, Miami. Sometimes he's on where you go. I'll call bonet in certain places he can do that, but he'll just go in Miami gardens and walking doing that. Man, I'm not doing that. What I'm like, wow Wow. So one thing, and we got cook Time of Slie coming up, so this question might be repeated. But one thing that I did notice right, like I said, I kept going through you guys kind

of log because you're my friends. I wanted to go through it even more your family again, because your family. I wanted to go through it even more because I didn't want to. And the one thing that in the nineties it felt like you guys were really working with Jack. It was really like all about Jack. Then after that it felt like the NAS came in. What's it? What's it? A favorite system thing in the beginning, or or or maybe just Jay was just he was just working like that.

M because in the in the early nineties, like late nineties, there wasn't a lot of it was bad. It was like y'all was going back and forth on the Jade. I wasn't really looking at it like that, that's bring down, you know. I mean I didn't look at it like that neither. But until a lot of listening to this, for me, it was because we was it was it was it was close, like I meant j seventeen and so my access to Jay, you know, um was close. I mean no, I meant nos at a young age

as well. But work relationship wasn't really established until later. Our friendship was established earlier, but our work relationship, um, you know, like we got a whole album done. The whole album, we just never you know, we'd take bits and pieces and things off. But Jay was always like close to get to It's like okay, hold over there, okay, boom,

you know, I you know, it was. It was crazy because they got competitive with both camps musically, yeah, because I remember, like it was, y'all, it was you Timberland tunes, let's say the ne tunes and that was like the three go to Like if you had a Swiss beat at one point, it was gone. You had a Timberland beat, he was gone. You had a four World beat, you was gone. Yeah, we guaranteed platinums. It was. It was. It was friendly competition in the moments. Boy, what's that

M to me, my favorite one is the one that I think that when he did the piano rope boom boom boom, like because of you gotta get for a creator, gotta fuck you up, you know what I'm saying. Like as a producer, that sucked me up because I felt like, Okay, he's stepping into my world of just unorthodox shit, right, and I thought I was the only one with the unorthodox ship. And I'm like, okay,

he said boom boom, I said, what the why? I ain't even think of that. So for y'all, y'all, you know, for the Bashal people, was loving because the beat is Jasi with Jack Man. I'm looking at the creativity side of how he saw sounds and how he saw music and how he just Wentwood was not the norm, you know, coming from I know, always know New York producers, you know, to have a certain style. Swiss was the first one to really break out of the typical New York sound.

I was there and I was like, old, yeah, buddy, like yes, give me another one. A little you say that. It was like, I can't hear him. I wasn't the man hating something. He was at Sony. Only the reason why we turned down everything was because you know, um, everybody wanted to get go to the penthouse. Like first, they just wanted to just go to the penthouse. They didn't even want to know the structure of the building.

They just knew it was a quick ride to the penthouse, a quick ride with our culture, quick ride in the v I p with our culture. And we're gatekeepers of our culture. So we can't allow that, you understand. So when it came to making this decision, I was like man, and I was me and Tim had the kind say it's like, yo, I always see like one or two of us getting the bags and being a part of the big picture. And even the artists that we gave our personal shares too, they don't

even probably understand what it's gonna be yet. But we have good intentions, and it was like, Yo, these people started and they showed up with us, and they should go all the way to ringing that bell and and and go on public with us. And it's just what

we're supposed to do. We should get people used to taking kids forty three and fifty artist because people don't know probably what you're talking about, that you gave shares, your personal shares to the folks that I've already done versus versus up to that point, right, yeah, yeah, and which just nunheard of. Nobody's doing deals like that, you know, because you know, every artist was compensated in some type of way for doing versus just whatever. We let them

keep everything. We took nothing from the artists. When they get a sponsor, they keep the money when they get bringing sponsors or whatever. And you see a lot of things on stage, it's because me and Tim agreed to let the artists eat and do what they need to do towards are not happening. Different things than that happening, you know, and they're coming out and in a hard time of COVID. Of course you can bring a sponsor. Of course you can keep all of your sponsor money.
