Y'all is radio. He's a legendary Queen's rapper, is your boy, and he's a Miami hip hop pioneer. What Up is d J E f N? Together they drink it up with some of the biggest players in music and sports, you know, I mean the most professional, unprofessional podcast. This is Drinks chap Radar where every day is New Year's Eve. That's right, would it could be, hopefully what it should be.
Before we even continue, I want to say that right now we an eight and nine clothing store and I'm dripped to death with eight and nine from the head to the bottom of my feet. And right now this is your boy in r E Hey, Hank Sangria, hope you it's via What What Up Is d J E f N? And it's a drink Chess podcast? And right now, right now, we have a legendary Brooklyn MC. He was a part of a legendary group that we only got one album groups. He was disappointed. We're gonna get into that.
He's hip hop's first activists, that gangsters in the hip hop Clane and the backpackers in hip hop claim. He stepped up for us in Ferguson when nobody else was. He told that guy that was in seeing it, we're gonna get to that later, that you're reporting on black culture in a disrespectful way. And he told it to him intelligently and live to this day, people still don't respect this guy's Don Lemons news reporting skills. Since that day, it's been different from Mr. Le said, I had this
guy number. The first thing I wanted to do was text him. Is he thank you? But he's a hip hop activist. He's one of the realest people. He's He's a hip hop pure lyricist, pure lyricists. He's worked with the likes of Kanye West, jay Z, Freeway, you name him. He's been in the studio or had something to do with them being great. Right now, we have Toddler quality in the building. Make so fucking oh man, oh Man, the leg man, the legend. You gonna make a black
man man. Listen. By the way, let me just say something. I've seen you in l A and I got a chance to tell you how much I appreciated the statement, the acts, and the courageousness that you portrayed during the Ferguson and you're going out there. First off, just representing for us. And then second off, when people were reporting four stories, you immediately corrected this guy and he did
an intelligent way. You could have been like, tell our motherfucker you know what I'm saying, that's how I feel about donal Lemon. But you didn't. You did it respectful? How How did how did that translate? We get the full story? Yeah, and we don't need to pull it
out politically answer nobody to followers. Yeah, but first of all, before I get into that, you know what I'm saying, First of all, shout out to the family and Michael Brown and Michael Brown's mom and Michael Brown Senior, and you know what I'm saying, like, because you know, one of the things that was lost in the conversation with me and Don Lemon was the fact that I was
out there to represent for Michael Brown exactly. And one thing that I you know, I tried to do not have no regrets in life, but that we had to actually to drink. Okay, well known sound little too. So that is your bottom. That is your bottom, you know, hens and sponsored some of the worst moments in my life. Yeah, sponsing some of the worst moments of life. Yeah. So go ahead, you and ferguson. Um. Yeah, so I went
down there. You know, I'll be on you did not get paid to be in, Fergus No, no, don Lemon got paid to be in. That's right, go ahead continue. I was on t be on Twitter a lot, and you'd be arguing on fools, I do. I think you know? Jay Z said if you argue with foods from a distance, they can't tell who's who. Yeah, who's the wise man? But I tell him come a little closer, and it's very apparent everything come a little closer. Just if you come a little closer, you can see I's saying what
I'm doing. But you know what I'm saying. Like, Um, I was talking on Twitter to people who was retweeting and people a lot of times people on social network think that they activist because they retweet something, because they post something nice and positive on Facebook. Um, and that's that's all good. But unless you have bodies on the ground, unless the flesh is involved, there's nothing really really happening. So I found myself being hypocritical because I'm talking about
this on on Twitter. Right, my man, um Ja Cole went down there. You know what I'm saying like these are artist I think maybe Jeez Young Jeez went down there before me. So I've seen other artists go down up that I'm saying. So I was like, Okay, I could go there, and I'm here on Twitter talking about it. Let me go down there. I'm an artist, I'm my own boss. I don't have a schedule I have to
adhere to. I could go down there. So I went down there, and I was happy to see my man Philip Agnews a lot who's here in Miami, you know what I'm saying. From Dream Defenders. He was down there. I've seen I've seen uh Patrese from Black Lives Matter down there. I see people that are already funk with down there, So I felt like I was in the right place. I met my man test Po artists from St. Louis, very talent to them. See he's on my last album Knife wonder Um, which are you on? He's on the Sore.
My man Teft Poe, and my man Tory Russell Um. They was down there. They was on the front lines. And my first night down there, To be honest with you, I kind of went down there on something like I'm just gonna show my face. Okay, I'm gonna drink. I see, I got to drink. I'm sorry. I was gonna show my face to be real with you, you know what I'm saying, Like, I wasn't planning on getting in, no type of action or not. You just wanted to be I'm just swaying show solidarity. You got maced or something
like that. Yeah, it was no. I didn't get made, but they sprayed tear gas in the air. I was infected me a little bit. I had to peep the cops and uh, you know, agitated the people, you know what I'm saying, and they chased us down. I was down there with Rosa Clemente, who's a friend of mine. Jessica care More was a poet. Um cops and some young people. They chased us down to be related because that's my cousin. She's not, but she is Puerto Rican cousin.
She is. She is Puerto Rican. Part of how many days into the protest is this when you get there? This is as soon as I got there. But I'm saying how many days had the protests? Okay, they've been going going on about a week before, maybe maybe two weeks before. I got down there, and you know, the people on the front line, I've seen that they needed a voice that I've seen that they needed representation. Shout out to my man Benzineo. I've seen him down there,
you know what I'm saying. Um, there's a couple of other artists I can't think of right now, but Teest Paul is rolling with Test Poe in them. And Um, I was down there for about a week. I got asked to do a lot of press. I turned a lot of it down. I did Democracy Now, Amy Goodman. Um, I did a Joy and Reed show. But I was turning a lot of the press down because I wasn't down there as a rapper. You know what I'm saying. Yeah, with the people. Yes, I got asked to do CNN. UM.
I had never met Don Lemon. Um. I went down there to do the thing with him. And this is the night before he said I smell weed, or this is about a few months before that. Oh he said he smelled when I was a few months before he smelled the weed. Um. You know, Don Lemon is somebody that you know, even to this day, I clowned to make fun of him. I had a little altercation with him on the air, but I have respect for him as as a human being. You know, a gay man,
black man on CNN. Yeah, he came out and Anderson you know, you know what I'm saying, Like, you know they did they, Um, I went, I went down there. I was very excited to do the interview with Dominant, and I was surprised at the way that he conducted the interview. And I think my shocking, my surprise. Me being used to doing interviews in a certain way as an artist was different from me doing interviews as I don't think Don Lemon understood my, my, my, who I was,
what I was doing down there. I was just somebody who was there. He had no frame of reference. No, he didn't know you beforehand. Nah, we never met him. Might have been from St. Louis, Yeah, I could have been some rappers for St. Louis. No disrespect to rap rappers from St. Louis, because you know, those are the voices like my man teft Pope. And I'm saying, like people who was rappers from there, they know what was up for real, Like really they should have interviewed teft Poe. Really,
you know, I'm saying they were walking by now. They called meers. CNN called me a lot. They called me a lot. The real story is, they called me a lot. They called me like like ten times like and I said no, no, no, no no. And they said Anderson Cooper was going to do the story. And you know, I have a lot of respect for Anderson Cooper, you know what I'm saying. So I was like, Okay, I'm gonna do it. When I got down there, they had Don Lemon. I didn't you know. I was like, okay,
Don Lemon, cool? Was you all of Don leman problems? Yeah? I didn't have no I didn't have no opinion to him. I was aware him. I knew he was on CNN. You know what I'm saying. I didn't. I wasn't a fan. I wasn't not a fan. I didn't know who. I just knew he was famous, you know, black dude on CNN. So I did an interview with him, and um, you know, I just didn't like the way that, you know, I felt like, you know, Don Lemon is on CNN on
TV a lot. I feel like, if you called me to interview me, you want to hear what I gotta say. As soon as I started speaking. He started speaking, you know what I'm saying, and my gut instinct kicked in, you know what I'm saying. But like I said, with the started this, you know what I'm saying, Like I wish I would have talked more about Michael Brown instead of getting into it. Limit No, but you know what I want to tell you that it was. It was.
It was necessary for the time because, um, you being on the ground, you probably didn't see all of the news footage. Me being on the road at the time, I did see all the news footage, and he just wasn't it was. It was, you know, Um well, all due respect to him, because I've never met Donal, you know what I'm saying of me judging him is absolutely pre prejudiced because I've never met a guy right, never
been in front of him. But from what I see, he's what represents the Uncle Tom he's been represents like the people who don't understand the struggle, the people who don't understand that Mike Brown was innocently killed, the people don't understand the trade of on mines that he was. He was the epitome of the black guy who doesn't understand our struggle. So although your your your plot, put him in your your confrontation with him, uh might have
took away from what Mike Brown. It also shed light on the situation that listen, brother, if you if you're one of us, you gotta be one of us. And if you're not, then you're just not. I think he does because I think as a black gay dude, he understands that. I didn't know he was gay. So yeah, I think he understands it. I think he goes through it. You know what I'm saying that somebody who works in
the mainstream media, right, I think he understands it. But you know, people who work for a living, and we don't have jobs, and a lot of us compromised our gut feelings and our more rules and compromise who we are as people. For that check, Don Lemon is there to represent CNN CNN as a corporate interest. He's not there like that. He represents CNN. Let's make some noise for then, not not CNN. Like you know, the officials, CNN turns kind of hood to gangster ship. The other
bad guys. We can't put that there. Come on, the other bad guys, come on. But I think that he represents. He was doing his job. The moment I spoke out against mainstream media, I didn't even say CNN. He took offense to me saying mainstream media is a problem. He looked at CNN as being a part of mainstream media. He took offense to me dissing his team. That's what it was. And the conversation got missing because he was like, wait a second, seeing that is fair. I feel like
I'm fair. I feel like I'm worked for seeing that. I'm fair. You know what I'm saying. And it's like, you know, he represents the mainstream The mainstream media job is to enable the status quo, and it convinces that the status quo is okay, you know what I'm saying. Like Seeing, then, the only reason Seeing was down there was in the hopes that there would be a riot.
The only reason the MSNBC, even the yeah, even even the left wing I'm not talking about Fox News and all the bullshit, but even the left wing, supposedly on our side, media is down there because they hope that some violence will. If there wasn't a dread of violence, they wouldn't be down there. So then they tell you we shouldn't write. They tell you we shouldn't burn down the CBS, and I agree with that. You know what I'm saying. I don't think violence solve anyone, CBS or CBS.
CBS understandship CBS. I think that you know they don Lemon was doing his job very well. I like you for being political. He was not. That's not even that's not even politics money, that's just real ship like like he was doing the job. Now, you and me as artists. The reason you could call yourself Noria, the reason you could do a podcast, say whatever the funk you want because you are artist. You have no boss talking about it, You have no boy. Keep going, keep going. You see
what you're going. You see what Laura Hill don't show up to a show. Everybody get mad. Guess what you could be mad, But guess what, So the funk what she don't work for you? She could She could show up when she feels like showing up and guess she don't feel like it. She don't have to show up. Something personal happen in her life. She could be like I'm chilling today. She hasn't arranged it with the venue owner, the promoter, and you have you have. You don't know it.
You're not privy to that. So the only person she might owe something to is somebody that you're not even privy too. As artists, we have no boss, and a lot of people don't understand that, you know what I'm saying, because a lot of people caught up in the debt system, in the slavery system, and they think they have bosses that people that have to report to. That's not something that I'm judging. You can't be judgmental. People got to do to survive, you know what I'm saying. You can't
judge that. But you've got to understand the difference between somebody you know and and it's the same thing as a gangster. Like a gangster has no boss. Like most death, he's an r e for real, He's going to run, right? Is that correct? Hold on what happened? He just said, Fuck America. You know, I think y'all seen babe. You want to visit him? I went to visit in Africa and South let's just make some noise for the nigga going back home. That just makes I ain't got the heart.
They ain't got a w in Africa, right, I can't they got they got a home away of Airbnb. I'm not a fan of Nbnb yet now I'm not matter. I don't found with Airbnb. But listen, y'all seen Bay he decided it a long time ago. If you pay attention to his moves, that he wasn't funking with America a long time. That's hard, you know what I'm saying. And um, he traveled the world. You know he's an internationally no artist. He is settled in South Africa. He
do got some leaders. He had an international passport, a world World World World pass What then does that mean? The world passport is so you know, he has a website with my man Ferrari Shepherd shout out to my man. I got a website. I don't got a worldwide. They got a website called a country called Earth. And the whole concept behind it is, you know, I'm a citizen of the world. Like these borders. Do you know what we all this is a room for the immigrants. Room.
We've done good for some immigrants. These borders are set up by colonists. These borders set up by warring European factions that are that are interested in in enabling white supremacy and keeping it going. You know what I'm saying, like keeping people was murdered, they're raped and tortured for them to create these lines and these divisions between people. I'm saying, no human being is illegal. You know what I'm saying. If you get drunk and you drive and
you killing motherfuck, are you in illegal driving? No, you're not. So no human being is illegal. That's that. That's a that's a misnomer. No human being is an alien. No human being is illegal, and that makes a noise for the people trying to cross the borders. Quality were not damnit shut or it is bombed. And so y'all seen ban fera shepherd. They have this concept of just global global citizens, citizensry and no human being is illegal and country called Earth. We are all citizens in the world.
So he can he still like go to like um countries. That's cool with Yeah, the World Passport is recognized as certain countries. But we still don't know how did he get that word. You could from what somebody to get that fingerprintsingerprints world. From what I understand, the World Passport, you could get it if you do do the research and you just anybody could get it. But it's not recognized everywhere, and it's not recognized in every situation they
might recognize it. I think the situation with South Africa is they recognized it sometimes and they don't record. They pick and choose. So I think the situation was he was trying to travel in this particular time they didn't recognize the World passport. So he has a little legal issue. He got solved. But you know, he's been in South Africa and Tunisia and Morocco and he's just been a citizen of the world. And then how did your has literally meet? Because the Black Star thing was yeah, so
big and we only got one album. Correct, shoutut to my man Rubik's. When I was a young we lad back in the salad days of my career, Okay, hold on lad in salad. Never heard this term. That's just Irish. That's Irish. I'm a we lad salad days. If I'm a fan of the Coen Brothers films. He watched Raised
in Arizona, Nicholas Cage. He talks about him in Holly Hunter, I think his name and the actress and he's talking about the early days of their relationships, and he said, that's that's the salad days, the days before the appetizer and the meal on entree the salad days. So in my salad days, you know what I'm saying. I used to hang out and Watchington Square Park. Um. I used to hang out with incredible mcs like Supernatural. That's where half Bake came from. Dave Dave Chappelle was in the park.
Dave Chappelle was in the park around this time, watching The Square Park eight off. The Assassin was in the Hip Pop War. Jean Gray was in the park. Most Deaf was in the park. But Most Deaf was also a TV star. He had a show with with Nel Carter. I forget the name of the show, but it was he was nel Carter him and had a show right then he had a show with Malcolm Jamal Warner had a TV show. When he left the Cosby Show to Teacher Harlem, he had a class the Seventh Creators. Most
Death was one of the Seventh Creators. Yeah. Then in the Cosby Mysteries, the first Drake and this is in Brooklyn Cosby. I was in Brooke Ya, Ni's got mad ship. Let's make some noise in Brooklyn. Being rich, Yeah, he was what's the rhymes? Big and jay Z all went to a school together, Brooklyn. Hold on, hold on, hold on now, alright, alright, let me qualify that. Let me qualify that the seven eight team got the best in seven eight. Yeah, seven, he said, seven eighteen. That was
too smart for me. I had to think the same day, seven seven one. You gotta shop got star faces, bes and uns. Well, we've got jay Z's and nas and big different seven eight unities like black and brown right here, right here, right here, right here. But yeah, most Deaf was doing this thing on the acting. He had a Dion Santa's American Express commercial. I knew he was broke. It was an American expression. We was broke. We was
we being the park. We would hop the train. I used to live a Flatbush, hop the train and go to the Washington Washington Square Park. The freestyle. Most Deaf was the only niggable money. He would take everybody to McDonald's on West Fourth. I got that McDonald's. I'm sure you continue from the basketball story. When I was fifteen years old. All right, I'm just real story right now. At my at the house I rented, I'm shooting a video. My man nico Is and they're shooting a video. Let's
make a noise. Listen. Most people rent a hotel. He's experienced. We rented yeah house. It is cheaper than the hotel. You know, I'm frugal. We don't know that word. Can you explain frugush It's cheap. It's a fancy word for cheap pocket. I am now using that word is at this house right now. It's still potholes in my law right. Let's make all my New York nick is gon Remember this.
I used to shop at Renaissance. I don't know what's cool now, but it used to be on on Houston and Broadway, and they used to have the Doc Martin boots and the Jabo jeans I used for Jabow jeans. I read it Deposta news. This is what day I saw the hot I don't know if you're gonna say this is a joint? Is it's blood the hottest ship? Hold on, let me make sure it's live. How about the smoking. I smoke to Blood with too short. I got Careless drunk, and now I got Tyler quietly smoking.
Lists got news that is not news, I know, but you know why Toddler. Let me just This is one of the main reasons why I wanted you on the podcast is because you do so much great in the community that sometimes, like you know, our preachers are are our bartenders. When I say boy bartenders, I mean like, you know, to pull up guys in the hood in New York. Sometimes they seem holy of and down and sometimes when you just need to show them that they're human.
And when you show them that they're human, it's more people that can say, you know what, I'm a following. Yeah, I'm gonna follow his league because he's also human. Like it's crazy because I'm you know, I've been in this business for a long time. I've known for a certain type of record, but you know, ever since I've been a business, know what I'm saying, Like you remember the
time he's in Larios. Yes, somebody came up to you and ask you for you're using Larry like Gloria and I we're drinking together, Like I'm like, Wow, the world need to know tyl Live can have fun, you know what I'm saying. Because he makes so serious rackings. You know, he's a political guy. It's great. That part is awesome. That's what I represent. The Charis was my favorite rappers, so you understand that I respect all that, but I'm
seeing him have a great time. So because a person comes up to him and says, to live, I want to do a joint with you, so I'm like, he's like yeah, and he's like, your nory, I want to do a drink, I said. Tylerve Is, my new manager, looked at me and was like fucked up. But he went along with it, and you went right along. Let's make some noise for going along with my found managing Norri. Now, yeah, I definitely didn't want to do a song with the dude,
so I seen him right there, so I live. But people need to I think that that's that's one of the greatest things is that when you know you like like when people say, I don't know, this is fucked up, But when people say Martin was fucking bit just on the side, it's like everybody like, damn, that's funked up. But it's like, nah, he's like human, like he was
fucking he was fighting every day for human rights. If he wanted to get a butt a nut on the side, that they gonna laugh, man, make some noise for Martin. He man Mason noise for Martin on the side. Come on, Martin. Unnamed rapper told me this, and I'm not gonna blow up his spot. This unnamed rapper told me this on his first tour. He said, hey, man, all the prophets that host because you know why, it shows that you're human.
The thing about preachers, the thing about the church, it doesn't work no more is because you see these people and they got the gay, the shoes on, and they got the they look so good and and they Charlottean stuff and they show you no mistakes. So they show you no mistakes, and why would somebody follow you, because it's like, damn, I never gonna be like you. I
have flaws. You understand what I'm saying. Like, so that's why the when you when when you learn the story about his flaws, when you learn about Malcolm flaws, when you learn about Jesus flaws. You know what I'm saying. When you when you read the books that are outside of the Bible, outside of the King James version of the Bible. When Jesus went to travel and you know, to India, Oh yeah, I'm saying he gained knowledge from all over the world. Supposedly. You know, I'm saying like
it had and had flaws. It was, it wasn't man, but that you know that, that's what That's what makes people able to relate. But Black stars such a legendary. But before you go on to black because I was are talking about Postinus Passengers. I went into the Renaissance, I said, past my favorite day, I saw my favorite ship. I rapped. Um, what do I do? He said, go to Rush Artists Management around the corner on Elizabeth Street, right, So I went around that. I went around the corner.
I go on the lobby. Tragedies there, Yes he was. But first Search first, because you know, Search walked and I met Search. I just I'm fifteen years old. I'm at Search. This is when gas Face was. It was like Tragedy walks in. I got a picture in my house right now. Tragedy had the wild dreads on the top of the fade on the side, he had the little Malcolm ex spectacles, and he had like a raincoat on. And this is Maaket. Tragedy sat there and talked to me for two hours. You know what I'm saying, like
he was the first. This is a real story that you're hearing on drink Champs. Tragedy was the first rapper that showed me love. Tragedy was the first famous. He was the first first, that's right. But you don't know me from from He just started giving me advice on the industry for me and all that. We sat with Elizabeth in Houston for two hours watching the people walk by. I don't even know why he had the time. Not
Sometimes you know who the next person is. Sometimes it's just energy, you know what I'm saying, Just a look at that? Look at that? So you're hot tag? Yeah no, no no, let's get back first the last two yet black Star because you know why you know, um uh black Star such a legendary thing that you guys did, like, um, this is the first time in history we were presented a group first and then you guys did solo ship and y'all just never got back. Yeah it's not accurate, Yes,
yeah it is. It is. You know, black Star me and most Death with solo artists, and we we had styles that complimented to each each other. We're fans of each other. Um, we talked casually about doing a group. Were both signed to Ruckus. Jared and Brian. You know, they sort of vision and they was like, Okay, let's do a black Star. At the same time, most Death was like, let's do this black star situation rockt sort at the same time. So it converged, and he was
working on a TV show. He was working in the movie I Forget Which movies forever. He was walking on the movie after time he was saying, this is when I knew I can't act for Ship. Listen, let me just tell you something. This is when I knew I can't act for Ship. I've seen that nigger play a
doctor and I believed him. And then I'm gonna tell you when I knew most was done when I seen him when I watched Monster's Ball, Master's Ball and this is my nigga and I'm spending every day with and I watched for thirty minutes and I said, that's most st Yeah, That's how I knew I can't. What do you think that the TV played Bury in the in
the Cadillac Records movie, You ever saying what Beyonce? And he was wearing his hair and talking and acting like a dressing like Chuck Berry around us, But he didn't tell us that he was doing a movie, so I thought he didn't. He was just losing his mind. What I'm saying, like he was a cactus trading his hair. He had the outfits, he was talking and that. When I saw the movie, I said, Okay, did he go to acting school? No, he just a dude from bed Star who got who got talent? You know, shout out
to Umi and Abbi. They saw enough to make sure that he had the opportunities and present him with the opportunities. So so, but when you guys did the Black Star album, did you did you? Did you? Did you understand how big like the culture was gonna gravitate towards that or I think we just a moment had a lot to do with Vinyl. Brokers was putting out Vinyl and the dj the DJs were craving Vinyl. Let me just tell the people, okay, people, Vinyl is the record. It's a
record you put it on. It's fools around, It's not a stream, you know. Uh, real DJs used to cut it back, bring it back. Your mom's got it in your house. Your mom's got it in your house somewhere. Your mother has any I'm sorry, alright, alright, Rakers was putting out vinyl for people, for hip hop fans that was starved for vinyl, and that's part of the Rooker's business plan. That's how they blew up because a lot of the DJs, we're pushing back against the move away
for vinyl. You had big companies like Bad Boy that was putting out great quality pop mainstream hip hop, but they wasn't serving the DJs with the vinyl. They was trying to move away from it. You go to Tower Records or whatever. Back in days you couldn't buy vinyl. Rockets would put out BAM's Deck, Sermenteli Company Flow, most deaf probably vinyl. You know what I'm saying that people was the DJs would appreciate that Rukers was focused on the DJ and they focused on underground hip hop and
focus on a certain sounds. So when they put out The Black Star. I remember the Stress magazine. My man Clive down and you got to cover Stress. But it was a graffiti writers that had that magazine and Broucs did a collaboration with Stressed with Stress when they did the vinyl on the cover. The vinyl for Definition was on the cover of Stress attached to the magazine they sent a copy to Funk Master to Flex. He loved it.
As a DJ. You know what I'm saying, Like, I started my career working for Jessica rosen rose Ball, Yeah Funk. I used to live in Flappers down the street. When when CNN first Drop, When Nori with component Ariga first Drop, I was working for Dress, Jessica rosenback John Foorte. John is my best friend. At the time, Jessica was managing John Forte. I was fourteen fifteen. Jessica Rosenbaum is a party promoter in New York. She used to manage Master Flex. But let me tell you, let me break it down.
She managed Master Flex before there was a Hunt on the seven, there was a Hot Night said, but before Hot Night was a hip hop station, it was a freestyle station. They used to play STEVB records like you Gotta the Leader. Something that side I mean I used to do that club was that, let's keep it going with base, home Base. I went to that home base, the boom spot, the tunnel, this pre tunnel. When Jessica got the tunnel, that was a cool Peter Gash. She
started worker Peter Gation. We're doing Limelight Tunnel I was to fly it. You gotta tell him, We gotta tell him with Lime Night because this is church. It was a church, and the church was literally as a church church and it closed down. They have a documentary. I don't know if there's a movie called Party Monster and the Starting Start that's about this whole situation. I definitely went to home Base. I didn't go there. Home base was home base was. The home base was with Jessica's
hip hop ship. That's a house of paying there and the ghetto girls. All right, So I used to know so when you when you when you when you went to that club, if you went to like like say where else, Dominoes would have a record ghetto jam out. I would post up the posters for Dominoes coming to town. And I'm saying like that. I worked for Jessica like enough,
it was Flip Squad. It was funk Matter, flex Enough, mad Way recipes by saying um d J Buddhaican did the reggae you know what I'm saying, and and Bismarck he was down for a second when he first started his DJ ship. He was down with Flip Squad. I used to hand out the flyers she managed John Forte Matter Flex. First record was with Non Double Lemons Man from the Bronx or Nervous. The B side was a record called the Boom Spot. Yeah, six Million Ways to Die,
the B side Nervous. The B side is John Forte. Hold on for all these new guys listening, we all get in getting real hip hope. So if you listen, what was that I'm doing record? He just said, Nervous. I used to put out the back that was John black More down. Oh man, this is real hip hop right now, get yours to get your googles continue. So that that's my start in the business was with John Forte, Master Flex and Jessica Rosi down because she was working with Puff at the time. He was her partner at
the time. You know when when Flex you standard parties at the Palladium. People up on Friday nights the Palladium. Matter of fact, I've seen I've seen ice Que perform at the Palladium with a Flex and King's Son came out wicked and King Sun came out said, yo Que,
that's my soul that you stole. Yeah. Yeah, Like I was there for I seen Tretch challenged Daylight Soul on stage because he was mad because they had to record when they said so stick to your nutty button, Natures in your pain and when they was raising both on Tommy Boy, They're like classic moment. Yeah. I was at the Palladium for all those funk Master Flex parties. Flex. I was at some of them parties. I was usually kicked out and I told you was doing yeah, yeah,
So how about you in high tech right right? So this is nice, like I'm in high school three. This is when Jessic could do in this party. Okay, So I went to n y U. My wife, everybody piece you god damage, You're coming out here to make sure everybody's acting all right. Party. I went to n y U and then I got and then I left, and then I started working in the cub books. I was
doing these uh book show shows. These bookstore shows were like Dead Prayers and Lord Jama and around nine went to l A. I was friends with Mike and nine for Freestyle Fellowship. He had moved to New York. He was signed to Keytar Mask Keytar Entertainment. He moved to New York. Keat I was working on D'Angelo and Erica about doing Micah at the time hanging out with them, and then I went to l A Tounk with him. I caught a hitchhike to the day hold on time.
You're the first black man I ever heard you the word hit. Just make no exact but look I was back. I took a greahound bus from New York to l A. But you gotta got that from white people. You ain't just you ain't. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's just getting him. He wasn't in Brooklyn and Flatbush and Nigga said, Yo, you got that from your white friend? Did Los Angeles to the bay Mystic Journeyman? Shout out to Mystic Journeyman
from Bay Area. I met them at a club and at the Good Life Cafe in Los Angeles, and they told me come to the Bay Area. You good I hated paper collar. Now it's way before that, but in my mind when you said that, I just popped the collar. I'm sorry. That was hella. Okay, okay, I might have to ask you to get some more drink. You got. You gotta loosen up. And you was shooting a video today.
Let's pick up your video you was doing. Shout out to Nicole and chatz uh Van Queen shout video for a song called good Girls Today, Good Girls O, good Girls. I meet good girls in the right places. My new albums called Toward the Force. He used to be called He's very smart Force toward the Force. I got j like trying to call on it. I gotta walk a flock on it. I got nor on its almost he's putting pressure on. Let's make some noise for He's just drink chat to me on the drink chat. Well, Tyler
is my mama bum boy man? Like you know? Um. One of the things that I know I said it earlier, but I want to just reiterate it is. I just want to show the people how cool you are. You know what I'm saying, a lot of people think you're so serious. Why because you know why? You do speak up for us? And you know. I remember me asking
Russell Simmons one night. I said, your Russell, UM, I want you to run for president and he said, I smoked dope before, and Russell everybody smoked weed before, said no, Norria, I smoked heroine. I've seen the show. I'm not arrested you, but I want you to run for New York City mayor. Are you mad at me for throwing that out there. No, I'm not mad at you know what. Local politics is better than presidential politics. You know what I'm saying, Like,
so you could do you're gonna do the New York City. No, I'm not, because you could do right here, Chance Radio Tiland running for Brooklyn City Councilman's not like like the city councilman, the assemblyman to school board public service announcement. You gotta vote for these people if you have chids and they go to school in your neighborhoods. That's part
that people miss. That's the part that people miss. You know what I'm saying, Like, I'm not I'm slacking on it because I don't even be in New York enough to do it, you know I'm saying, But I'm just a public service for me to just um one Senate in his and he's holly there. I think that. I think that, you know, honestly, I know I'm playing around a little bit, but I think like people like jay Z Russell Simmons, I live quality people who know politics
like me. I learned my politics on Bill Moore. Like you know what I'm saying, if it's on Bill Moore. I know what's going on. Yeah, but that's learn his politics. But it's like this, I used to be the type of nig but you know politics this if this footage of me talking about why you shouldn't vote. I'm not somebody who believes that you should just vote for the sake of voting. People be like people died for the sake of voting. Voting in America is a broken system.
But I read I read Man in Merrible book about Malcolm X and Malcolm X his ship was the ballot of Man and Marrible. He's a scholar. He wrote a book called The Reinvention Life and Reinvention. It's a it's a book about Malcolm xIC after Malcolm X autobiography. It's a good book. I sell it on my website Quality club dot com club. We don't sell any books in I sell hoodies and T shirts and fucking hats. That the audio book with that, No, I'm working on that,
the coming coming. But I got so heat he changed my mind when I read this book because Man and Man and Marrable wrote about how Malcolm X got with Adam Clayton Powell in the sixties. Adam Clayton Powell's famous senator from Harlem. They formed voting black Adam Clayton, Adam, you know exactly. That's what I'm talking about. What I'm saying got awkward. I'm sorry, but that's that's real ship. So Adam Clayton got with Malcolm X and they formed
voting blocks. So you see the Irish people in New York and the Jewish people, they vote as a as a community. They get they get the ship if they if they want. The Cubans in Miami, they went to trash cleaned up, they want to stop sign whatever they want, they get because they vote as voting blocks. As African American people, we don't do that. Adam clay In Powell and Malcolm X figured out how to do that. That's what convinced me that the vote is worth something, your
vote on mina and as an individually. Because Electoral College ensued that all the white people and all the rich landowners, they all the people don't land and rich people, the Electoral College make sure that they vote count more than the vote in California count more than the vote in New York because California is a bigger place and more
rich people own land there you know what I'm saying. So, but if we get together and vote as a block, like the Cuban people in Miami or the Jewish Jewish people do in New York, then we can affect change. And that's what I'm down with. You know, I'm gonna let you know right now. Yes, the hip hop community get together and vote for you. You're gonna take the job. Son.
We got people, We got Rass Baraka, he was on the Lauren Hill album that I went to Cuba, Ross barrock and I met with Ross Barrocker and he's he's done mayor. He's the mayor of Newark, New Jersey right now. He was not there. Tupaca is alive when I went there, um uh Asada is there and shout out to Nihanda abby o do she's there. We went to Cuba. You know what I'm saying. But that's what I'm saying that you've been going to Cuba for a long time back
I went once. You don't get to that that helped us you're in hip hop into listen, yeah yeah, yeah, but look at that. You helped the Cubans go back to Cuba. Come on, make now you know, Yeah, for you We're gonna make it. We're gonna force you, man, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna start what is it a petition? A petition. We're gonna hit everybody on Twitter every day. We need a hip hop man, that's the hip hop. But we got them. We got Jersey and talking about
Corey Booker, He's hip book. Rasp Barrock to do what I'm talking about. He ran against Corey Booker Back of the Day. He lost Crey Book of more mainstream Corey Booker. Corey Book is good. He like Top s good, Top forty and Homeboy is underground. That's exactly right, rasp ground. Corey Books book is a set of guys. He don't sell. He's gonna make it too far. Rasp Rock is a bare new it. I'm going to rasp Berrocker having a meeting, uh and two weeks with Black Lives Matter on me,
rap City and bust Ron's going. He shout to rasp Rock, Rasper Rocks, Let's make a noise, Rasper Rock. Laur with new album no the Laura Miss Education, Laura Hill. When she has the intervals where they got the principal talking to the kids, that's Rasper. He run a school. He has a principle. He has a school official like a referee with a whistle wrong. Welcome to play, a new podcast network featuring radio and TV personalities talking business, sports, tech, entertainment,
and more. Play it at play dot It. We're back to Drink Champs Radio with Rapper and R and d jes. Now, what did the name todder live quality? Because shout to my parents, you know that's yours, my boy, Tyl Quality Green is my born name. So how bad is it you going through customs after not? It was pretty bad, you know. And my DJ's name is Hussein. I'll back. My best friend was was was was Mussa Abdella. No, but na Mussolini chose some of the Muslim names. No, no,
he was born and he was not. Mussolini is born his Muslim. This is so. I used to travel with a person named Mussa Abdella and Ali Sammy. It wasn't great for me going to let's say that. I had to learn to leave them. But I had to be like yo, you know, yeah, you wait for your man
and he'd be like, no, that's not working. I'm saying, but that's not eleven, that's not I got stopped everywhere, fucking they don't know what you look a ram, I'm cub I'm sorry, started wrapping American flags around their head like through that's that that this is crazy. So did you have problems going through customs or no? It was I mean, you know I got yeah, you know, I got the random search. You know what I'm saying, Like, but I had been used to it by that time.
I traveled the world a bunch of times. He was saying, like that, it's different every country we got. I got stopped by to see everybody. I got to talk about this. Not maybe not it was FBI was FPI, WHOA WHOA hold on, let's get into this story. Was listen ahead, let's look. I pulled up to the airport. They was like, they pulled me to the side, put me in the back room. They said, on this night, where was you? I was in curR Room studios, working on my own quality.
I was listening to Stokely Car Michael speech. Stokely Car Black panther brother right, black power. He was the one who in the ablackwer They knew this. They started talking to me about this. The reason they knew this is because when I booked my flight. I booked my flight with Jet Blue while I was listening to this speci Are you supposed to make are we supposed to make noise? With Jeff Blue? Definitely give up. Continue. They pulled me.
They showed me a list of names and all the names was blacked out except for my wife d j Q and my manager at the time, Corey Smith. Corey Smith, he managed Vincent states that's right. At one point, continue right on point. They said, do you know these people had my manager and my wife's name that's said everybody else and black that. I said, I know them. I said, that's my manner, that's my wife. I said, why are you got from people? They said, those are the people
you travel with the most. What I'm saying, I said, why do you stop me? They pulled me that. They pulled me. They said they was question asked me on these questions. They said, you was listening to a speech that seem violent and anti government. God wait wait wait wait. But when he was listening to the speech out again in the studio and current room studio, when he was justin before just blades, when he was justin he was
just gra phillies for me. But that's right, when he was an intern, just blazes up at night, late at night in the studio where his mom. I love ground, I love his grind. Yeah, that's where. That's where I was at and when I got to the airport. This was when jet Blue was the first cramemb when jet Blue was first cracking that. I'm sorry, I don't with jet Blue. When United, nigga, let's make some noise for United.
I'm trying to get spontsor enjoys me that kind of days when they still had the t w A terminal back in wa we just go. That's before Miles. Nobody had Miles back there. But you can drink in the teken floor. It's like, yeah, this is paper, my man, he just came home. We just came He smokes clear paper. Yeah, this is that official like this vegan like it? Vegan smoke? Is that like vegan? We have vegan smoke here. Let's make some noise for vegan smoke. We don't know what
it is. I got a vegan. Jokes, I got a vegan. How do you know somebody vegan? Don't worry, they fucking tell you he cans. Get the joke. Yeah, we didn't, all right, Tyler, I hate to switch the subject. I hate to ask you this, but you know what happened. We had the god body care arrests on this show. That's my that's that's my mentor, that's my mentor. Yeah, yeah, because you know why he didn't have a chance to defend himself. I know exactly. Me Let me what happened.
I got an opinion of this. Let me let me go that I got my because because this is how here you take it. So this this is the thing, right, Caress is my mentor. He from Queens. That's an extra means, that means extra more and said to him on the podcast, I always said that at So what happened was I asked him about this question and Caroress is long winded. What I mean by long winded is he can't give Caress. He'll give you what I mean, He'll give you a
three minute answer. Right. What I wanted from Careres was YO when I asked this question, and so when he didn't answer like that, I know the internet, like you know, you know the internet. So this is the reason why, because they're gonna they're gonna shorten it no matter how which way I asked you this, They're gonna shorten it, you know what I'm saying. So when I realized that Chris was going, you know, a little too far, I kind of let him answer, but I changed the subject.
In the Internet, it's like that's that is not Caress for I'm sure he was gonna get to the point to say that that this part and this part is wrong. But when he kept you know, prolong, and you know, I I understand it. It's about like that, like you already see how we cut each other off. You know what I'm saying, because we already know we're cutting it up for one minute to thirty minutes and fifteen second clips. We got it already designed in our head, right, all right?
So I asked Caress this question. I said, what should we do with African band bother and the situation? Right? And Chris, you know, I don't want to say he defended them. He defended their relationship, which is totally but the Internet wanted him to say, boom, this is wrong. He's still my man. But if it's you know what I'm saying, And so I have to ask you pretty
much the same. Well, here's the thing. The language of political correctness evolves over time, and if you're not really engaged in paying attention like every second to the Internet and to the social media and what people are saying an academic language and how people are dealing with everything,
for racism, the sexism, the child abuse, to everything. You may just talk and speak your mind, but because people receive a lot more information, they may not understand where you're coming from, Like you want me speak a certain language because we're from New York. You want me speak a certain language because we hip hop, or because we minority, or because you know what I'm saying. Care Arrest is an older gentleman and he's a teacher. He's a teacher,
but he comes from a different generation. He comes from an older generation with a language and the paradigm and everything that they informed by is different than now. So the way that the language that he's speaking on current topics is different is why you hear older people speaking and you may not relate to them. You'd be like, oh, she's changed since then. So not only are you dealing with somebody who's older and somebody who's not engaged with
the current language. But I don't think he understood the facts. Neither and you, but you also do None of us knew the fact. None of us also listen, listen, but now we know the ACU Caress is from a generation that's from before the internet. He had still he's from before the end. People don't say that his phone. I ain't gonna lie. I was embarrassed. I wanted. I told him I was gonna buy. You been embarrassed on everybody's phone. I ain't gonna lie. I've been disappointed. You don't cracks
in school? Is just your up to date Caress. Caress still had a two way. I'm just playing Caress. He knows like a joke on him, but ahead, but you know what it is. Here's the thing, Caress, It's clear to me, I'm gonna be It's clear to me as as as a fan of Caress, as someone who knows him personally, that he doesn't condone any of the accusations.
Of course he of course he doesn't. No, not even even with Caress making a record like thirteen and Good, because a lot of people have given him flak, A lot of flak has come back, has haunted him for this record that he did years ago, that I wrote, I read he read it. He wrote a whole because of his drink. Champs state that I read what I'm saying, and he said, he said a record that I did as a joke. We used to joke about rape and
child abused. Back in the day. We used to use the word faggot with no remorse and no. We come from if you older, we come from a generation where that wasn't taboo, That wasn't We wasn't enlightened, We wasn't evolved evolved enough to understand what was wrong with those things, and we we engaged in those sticks. When I was growing up, I used the word faggot. I called niggas pucks right now, right now, like even the term man up. You know what I'm saying, Like you know what I'm saying.
Like I grew up saying man up. I've told my son man up. But as a forty year old man, I made a decision to stop using that term because I realized it's sexist. I realized that that and negates and the racist women when I say man up. But I'm still evolving as a man. I'm still evolving as a man. And as we grow and we evolved, we
do things as we're younger. What I'm saying in the in the seventies, I watched TV shows and clips from the seventies and the eighties and early eighties where people were getting away with ship that you put it on the internet. Now, now you know what I watched the other day that was sucking me up? Were Avenge of the Nerds. You ever three? He had four? Actually he
had be with the other dude. So he went in there and he he dressed as the other dude and he basically raped the chick, right, and that ship was funny. But if he came out now you if it came out now that because we looked at the old the rat pack they was, it was that wanted and that's like the good time the fellas. We gotta make a
point because it's gonna look crazy. Got let's get to the point for trying to make because make the point the Zulu Nation and Harris one and all these people who come from a different terror the way that they had to go. We're gonna make a point because listen, because listen, we went we were to like a dumb area. We did. He's the smartest nick in here. We gotta make him not make sense to this. Come on with the kid. Yeah, I bet you Jain is Jamaican. They
got seventeen jobs, two languages. Anybody in London, anybody speak Jamaican from London. He spent too. Let's make the point. Let's make the point. But we've got to make the point because listen, they're gonna fry you on the internet. You gotta tell we don't have fat I'm used to listen. The response has to be responsible. Now, the Puerto Rican sistem referred to Roads and Clemente or DJ and Candy and a bunch of people that they rock with a
fashion a response to the Zulu Nation accusations. Because let's be clear, this to accusations. But even though the accusations, you have to take them seriously. You have to use the word victim. You have to say that these people are victims until proven otherwise, you know what I'm saying, Like, you have to take it seriously. African being about a show step down, Zula Nation should step up in a
way that they have not stepped up before. Rosa Clemente and Candy they are they are female members of the Zula Nation. They wrote a response that I retreated on my account. Um, if you google and Candy Rosa Clemente Zula Nation, you'll see they wrote the hip hop response that I co sa a response from hip hop to the alex. This is what needs this is what hip hop needs to hear. You know what I'm saying. Like they they they spoke about, um, the silencing of victims.
They spoke about how hard it is for victims of sexual abuse to speak up, and how it's taboo and how you ostracize if you're a victim of sexual abuse. And they spoke about all that, but they all spoke about how bi about it, how important he is in the coach is what I'm saying, Like, we can't not with African Bimbada and the Zula Nation and we can separate. If African Banba has done these things, and the evidence is pretty strong, it's pretty strong. But if he's done
the things, we remember that from the Zulu Nation, the culture. Yeah, African Bimbada, this is somebody who as a as a somebody who loves hip hop. I've revered, I've looked up to. There's a cultural worship, celebrity worship around him and people who worship him and people who because their introduction to hip hop and their relationship with hip hop is through African and Bader. You know what I'm saying, we have to stay away from celebrity worship. He's just a man.
What I'm saying, we have to acknowledge what he gave to the culture. But if these accusations and allegations are true, and the evidence present itself that is true, we got to deal with it and we have to. We have to take it seriously and we have to be responsible because we we as we come from a community of poor people. This this abuse in this type of stuff, whether he did it or not, it happens to poor people and it doesn't get reported, you know what I'm saying.
So it's like we have to make sure that we step up and we're responsible for you know, even fuck the court of law, how we deal with the youth. That's right. You know what I want to I want you to elaborate on is when you said you think he needs to step down because a lot of people in the community. I think he did step down. Um, the brother Muhammad, which was like his lifelong security guard, had just said the same thing. So I just wanted you to elaborate on for the people who don't know.
You know what I'm saying, Like, what do you mean by that? Because well, because there's so much speculation and so much unanswered questions that you're tainting the legacy of Zulu Nation by not either speaking up about it or
stepping down. Like I feel like I can't speak on that man because I'm not that man, but I feel like it was if it was me, even the possibility of the accusation, whether I did it or not, I would want to disassociate myself from hip hop, from Zulu Nation and deal with my own stepped down, know what, the effect that it's having one, And that's just me. You know, I can't speak for that man at all. He was saying, you gotta have you right? Do I
need another drink? Drink? I was about to say, make some noise for that, but I don't know if people will kill me. But listen, you know, thank you, you know, live because you know why. Um Chris again, who was my mentor? I knew he kind of didn't understand that we gotta wait from that. Yeah, christ is Chris. Chris is somebody I think I think I paid attention. What he said on your show. I think it was clear, and I paid attention to his end, and I gotta say this and this listen, let me let me. Chris
is a friend of mine, we have records together. This is my mentor, this is my favorite. I'm say this is somebody who I've learned. I was talking him. I hit you because I heard together to night the night before, so I didn't show with him the night before. And honestly, I gotta say this, I wish he wouldn't have wrote that opad. I wish he would have wrote it in a different fashion because I don't feel like he cleared
anything up with the end right exactly. I don't feel like the op ed helped him, you know what I'm saying. I feel like I don't. I don't feel like he
clarified his position. You know. I think, as somebody who loves hip hop and somebody who understands the impact of what Africa about It has done for hip hop, I think that his vision was a little clouded when he wrote the op ed, what I'm saying, and I think that he was coming from a place in nostalgia, in a place of maybe possibly emotion, And because I think that, you know, the whole like conspiracy theory thing, like the whole thing, like we shouldn't even be speaking they side,
we shouldn't even be speaking on that, you know what I'm saying like that, And I think I think that as as people who love music and people want to like you have everything, have context. Caress is somebody who hip hop saved his life. This is somebody who was homeless and rose to be one of the greatest poets and musicians of all time. Fuck a genre, fucking music,
Caress is one of the greatest of all time. And I think, yeah, I think that we're not You're not going to understand his position on it unless you understand hip hop. But we have to defend cars, That's what I'm saying. He wrote that head he had just come off that long ass cruise. He was like, it's so it's because yeah, he don't we explain that on the show. It was like crazy, because you know, I love Harris one man, that's my hero. Like, let me just say
that it was that small and excellent. But you know, there's certain people that want to focus on that, and you know what, they have the right to because we're all public figures people can just like this interview, we got some dope ship, and we're gonna go into some dope with ship. But people can take and pick what they want. I can't wait to see what's might have.
I'm out of pocket. That's wrong, It's fantastic. Don't worry about I can't what it is because you know why I'm Iron claud When I'm able to defend my position from every I love that. I'm like iron Cloud, iron Cloud, what does that mean? That means hardcore? Like that ain't gonna get you take iron That was hard and that was right. Yeah, I was like what that means? So now listen, you said it earlier, washing this who has Park? You said it very like nonchalantly. That's when you met
David Chappelle. That, um no, I met Dave Chappe's working in the cure books. You had a lot of jobs. Yeah. I was a Jamaican. Yeah, let's make some noise to and um I was dating a girl who shall remain nameless and she had just broken up with Dave Chappelle. Wait, hold on, hold on, that's all, that's all. And she used to talk about him, and I used to be like, but I wasn't hate it. You only only only ship that Dave Chappelle did at this um was Nutty Professor.
He was Reggie, he was the brave. I used to be like the Reggie and did think of the piano Nigga. He was funny. Then the piano the piano nigga him. He was hating on the piano Nigga po not Buddy loves right now. Buddy loved the piano Nigga got one scene she said yes. I said, look she broke up with me and went, I think she went back with Hi Niga after that. Just keep it going, keep it going earlier, shall remain nameless, he knows. A couple of
years later, uh Corey Smith used to manage da last song. Okay. Dave Chappelle lived in Yellow Springs. He grew up Yellow Springs, Ohio. Uh Dani also had a show near there. I went to the show. I was hot Tech and Cincinnati, so I yeah, I rolled up to the show. Dave Chappelle was at the day las So show and I told him, I said, you and me used to deal with the same chick. By this time he had did half big though he did happen by this time it was out and it was a cold classic. So this time I'm
like Dave Chappelle, fun with you. You with the same chick, but I fuxed with you and he said really, And I told him the story. I see him in the hallway and all that, but he didn't know who I was. He was like, okay, and then we was cool. Then a couple of years later, I was an Electric Lady working on the album of High Tech on Street. Of course,
I know, you know this is crazy. And I just seen a Zy do a documentary and he's speaking about Electric Lady because you guys were trying to like when I was working the Electric Lady, I was on the top floor, Common was on the second floor. We're gonna like water for chocolate. J Will you remember that white cat. You used to want to shoot that white cat which had a white cat, an electric lady. I remember the White chicks Mary a cat. They had a cat. You know,
come on, you know what I'm talking about. They had a white cat. The cat used to just look at me and like, yo, I'm a straight I have I just have a gun on me. I'm still I like killer. I was gonna kill that cat. That's right. It's a white cat. And they ustill always say that's Jimmy Hendrix saying the cat jim personal. You guys are crazy. Listen, Jimmie, this is Jimmie Hendrick studio. Jimmy Hendricks was in the cat, so they said the spirit of jim was in this
cat with I used to go to the bathroom. And you know, you can't ask the guys to go with mad homies, so you can't act the homies want me to do the bathroom. That's the only thing to look at you like, the next what the fuck? That cat? This cat was in was in the studio and the studio reflection, internal training thought, because in every studio was like just whatever chocolate D'Angelo was downstairs in the baseball kid. You notice at the same time, and this is they
say that Jimmy Hendrix. They say that because you know that Jimmy owned the studio owned. I swear to god, I've never take the story before, my man. I haven't thought about that cat many years. And you know this is why I know the cat is special. I'm allergic to cats. I never broke out when I went to the studio. I did bad from TV, there was recorded an electric lady, so I forgot the point he was making. But you was an electric lady. So if you listen
to the Reflection turn album, here drops right. There was this girl that I knew there was dating Lennox Lewis at the time. And we're still on the Chappale right. She brought LENNYX Lewis the studio. So if you listen Reflection he was dating Lenniz Lewis. Girl. Again, what kind of big are you? Tyler? I thought, that's what that's your home girl, girl, my girl. He said it like that's my girl. But I think he wasn't. That's right.
I can't very restal, he's very Now you listening to Reflection turn albums, Lex Lewis he has won two or three four Reflection turne. Gil Scott Heron is on the Reflection turnout. He came to the problem. He came in Dave Chappelle. I'm walking on the street on a street going to Grace s Pappie. That's the hot dog spot for those that don't know. I see Dave Chappelle. I said, remember me from the Daylight Show. He said yeah, I said, I work on the album. He came to the studio.
Dave Chappelle came every day after that day. So when you hear Dave, Rick James and Nelson Mandela opening the reflection, that's Dave Chappelle doing all that was, Yeah, that's Dave Chappelle. Did not know this, Yeah, he came through every day when we high TechEd that album, Da Chappelle was in the studio every day that album. But this is this was right when half half after half bab we don't know he's there. But this this was no Chappelle show,
nothing right there. So then how did that happen? Autumn years later he starts the Chappelle Because you guys were performing for him, like even before his show blew up, it seemed like a family. Now he was in the studio for all that. He was an electric lady around all that time. And so he got the show and shout out to Corey Smith once again him and had a good had a good relationship. He got a deal
with Comedy Central. He said, I want to do the show Chappelle Show, but one of his visions was I want to have the musicians that I fun and didn't you're perform in the kitchens one time that was that was common and Kanye cool. Okay, so he had Yeah, I did. I didn't get by you know what I'm saying, Like he had Big Boy, he had Celo, he had DMX whatever he needed two words to performed that there most and whatever David listened to at the time, That's
what he had on this show. That's what I was saying, like he was in the hip hop And then when he did block Party, the block Party was it wasn't it was the best time in Yeah, And Dave paid for that. He paid for that. We filmed it and then he sold it to the movie company. So he didn't know if he was gonna know he did. We just we just did it. He just and I got. I made royalties off off of that. You know, for years, I can't remember my last Royal Tea check, but for
years I made money off that. For Block part its revolutionary. So it's like, okay, as a black man, I'm gonna do my own ship. I'm gonna own it. I'm gonna put it out. So the nigger girl you was kept it real with you five come on, I worked out that. I'm I'm regretting that. So now I'm not. Let me let me ask you this. You meet Dave, he's a regular guy, You're a regular guy. You guys both become stars. He makes you a part of the show. Then all of a sudden, he did you have a call him
about that? Or yeah, I was. I was hanging out with Dave around a lot of that time and at the time he quit. Yeah, you know, he you know, he was in a situation where he felt compromised. He felt like the money that he took and the money that he accepted made him they was taking advantage of him, and like a cornery rave this. Yeah, you know, like like a lot of these kids that they a lot of kids. Everybody loved Dave Chappelle, but not everybody understood
Dave Chappelle. Like and I'm hearing this, this is the woman that I heard. I'm hearing that it was from black folks like like Oprah, And maybe I don't. I can't, I can't speaking with that man. Okay, yeah, Like, but but from what I observed, you know, I think that his comedy, Dave Chappelle comedy, like the best comedy, was very intellectual. People didn't understand the nuances Dave Chappelle come from educated people. You know, he comes from black academia.
You know what I'm saying, Like he comes from heavy ideas and intellectualism, but it's broken down in the comedy way. And a lot of people got the funniness of it but didn't get the point. And I think I heard like princes princesses. But even even on something like heard, you got a prince story, I got several princes. Hold on, let me get the hard all right, hold on, we gotta set we gotta set this up, all right, So hold on, time out here quality from we just switch
it up. Yeah, we always horrible. I'm not cutting off. I'm actually I haven't cut him off yet. Just see stories I sweat because you know you from Brooklyn. Yes, you had flash all day. You have fifteen hundred jobs before you were sixteen dred job. Choose one you become an m C prince. I don't give a funk if
you're a killer. I don't give a funk if you're a backpack on this, if you always princess guard to all of us as far as making music and art, music, creative coaches, finest broad YEP and your first time mean Prince when you first subscribed, shout to dj Q my wife, dj Q, I like, I like how you pick up your wife? God damn it. How five? That's real? Five, real ship. Let's make some noise for that. L A right, she didn't stretch. She's a She's a world class famous DJ,
and Prince got to liking her DJ skills. She became a wife work with Prince. This is not started out. This is not starting out good. I'm not gonna lie. I'm a jealous guy. Prince, you listen, Prince, you gotta get the funk away. My wife is not doing your ma. I'm sorry, he's not doing your Prince. Now. She was DJ in his party. You know what? And by this time when I met Prince, first I met Prince was maybe a house of blues l A M. She was DJ. You know he did he float? Now, he didn't levitate
to float. He had a second back. Prince Prince knew his hip hop when I first met him. You know what I'm saying, Like he knew, but he knew certain type of hip and he knew like common. He like like common I am, And it was like he likes certain things into something. He like hip hop, and he like hip hop. That was a little bit more like organic, saying like he liked like Lauren Hell, you know, like Common, like he really liked Colmon a lot, like he's a Common fan and and and Common is one of my
favorite Common work with him at all. I don't know if Common might have worked Prince here. He like Erica, I do a lot, you know what I'm saying, Like Prince I met yeah, yes, yeah, So when I met him, he said, I like that. He said, like, I like that one son. You the hot thing I was saying, I have so will I am hot thing was on the hook and and he like he liked, well I am a black Eye's and that type of ship. Um. I started just hanging out doing parties. You know my wife,
My wife would do parties. Prince was shot up at the parties. Was just short, hold on, how does this happen? Does Prince the smoke come in when he really walks in the basketball like yeah, I mean no, no, no, I'm serious, walk in the party. He walking the party. You know. I went to a party once in l A. What's that club that's across the street from the Beverly Center. The club that's his name is Prince walked in the
club ended in. Prince kept a bunch of us in the club and at gun point, no, not a good point, but he's Prince. He just did to look almost gun point, and everybody stayed point. He put out a little Bible. Wait, Prince, he said, he did Jehovah's wait and Jehovah's witness. They get down like that the Bible. He started having Bible study. Don't you know drinking three in the morning was niggas drinking.
There was no niggas there. It's only women and me because my wife is DJ, so I was the only nig And there was one other dude who was a boyfriend of one of the other girls. So it's Prince and me and this other dude. All right, don't pass that. This others passing back to me. I got you. This other dude, Prince, Prince was quoting the horrible he's caughting the Bible, and this other dude trying to say something smart. And now this other dude is he's not with Prince. No, okay,
he just happened to be there. He tried to say something and Prince, I'll never forget this Prince said, listen, Um, I know you think that you're saying something to add onto the conversation, but you really you know what I'm saying. From what you're saying, I could tell you don't know what you're talking about. So how about you just not participating? The Prince about the whipper, Nika asked, but I'm asking was He politely told him, you don't know the funk
you're talking about. Did Prince have on hills? No? He did not. He did not. I've been several. I've been several clubs, and Prince had chuck tail keep his clues, keep going on this print stories, and then went to a club. Do you have been the Zeni? L A had the party called Zeni they used to have. I had Big Zini before Big z at two o'clock in the morning, the clubs and l A clothes all right, yes, And then this dude used to have this party called Zeni.
We rented a warehouse. He used to rent the Muppet studios. Jim Henson, right, and I need to know these types of people I live. Come on my party. I'm bad. Yeah, I'm hanging out with big big birds with Ernie and Bart and bird and ship. You know what I'm saying. But he's at these parties. But they used to bring the alcohol and he's just set up. Stay. You just have go go dances and all the celebrities used to go, and all the basketball players and that it was he's definitely.
I was a prince called my wife and he said, wait the party at and we said we had ZENI yeah, said I'm coming. And this nigger just rolled up and told I had the privilege of telling to promote. I said, listen, I'm bringing Prince. I gotta just to beavis story when you finish, I'm bringing Prince. How the hell is just In Prince going together? Because Justin Pieper said that what Prince the only nigger around? No, I didn't. I don't remember that. This great hate when to be cut us all.
Like Prince came into Clark right. The girl was dancing and he said, this party is great, but why is she up there dancing with no clothes on? She was, he had clothes on, she things covered, but he said why She just said, you don't need to be done, you know, because this is Jehovah's Jehovah's witness, Prince, this is not the last dragon Prince, because this is not like, definitely not the prince wild back in the days, in the eighties. He was out of control, so I said,
listen out. He asked me to introduce him to the party promoter. I introduced him, and he said he explained to me. He said, listen to the girls. They bring business people, buy drinks, Prince, and let me talk to her. You're trying to convert. Let me talk to her. I need to hear this, saying the he talked to the girl. The girl didn't know who Prince was. Young chick, young chick dance in the club. She might have heard the name Prince. She didn't know. She's going to die to night.
This is a long time ago story, the old story. She turned. He said. He said, how much are they paying you to be in to dance with your clothes off? She said the number? He said, I'll pay you double to get down off that stage go home. That makes the noise of a prince being a trick? Is that reverse pimper? That's reverse per put your clothes on. Prince invented reverse pimping. She said, I'll take your money tonight, but what am I going to do tomorrow night. That's
what this girl said to Prince. I wonders what was he said. I don't have no control for that. That's real. P figured it out. I got you to my motherfucker. I'm not going to quote the verbatim. Besides that, he did say that him. Beyond that, he basically explained to her. He was like, listen, I'm giving you an opportunity to make a different decision in your life. I'm saying that.
I watched him explain to this girl and talk to the girl, and I knew from the way that she was talking to him that she didn't understand the legacy. She didn't understand. She was just like, okay, yeah, Prince had an album covered with like three bitches buttond on top of him, maybe some dudes, and the everybody thought
he was gay. Wasn't ready for your princess princes God. Yeah, he stuck to his guns and and he understood every artist and me and Nori, the fact that we even here doing drink champs smoking, we talking about stoking about what I'm saying. We understand that every artist got contradictions. Yeah, nature of being an artist's hest one. The person that we were here. It is the most contradictory artists whatever, but we were That's part of being human, like you said,
being because all human beings got contradictions. Artists are contradictions amplified because people pay more attention. You know, say everybody got contradictions. Artists, we just we create out of our contradiction. I say, right. But Prince was like Jesus man, listen to tell you something I've never liked. Billy Dee Williams
transcended for me. Like what I mean by that is like Billy D. Williams, Eddie Murphy, Prince and Michael Jackson was people who were like, you know, I grew up in a different you know, a different time like that he did, Billy d Williamson, that's a hood nigd with Michael Jackson and Prince and they said, Billy d those were certain people, you know, those were certain people. Yeah, drink, I'm still going in the secondary. That's that smooth down
in my taste now. But you know, for those those those those four individuals right there, those are the people who transcended life for me. There was the people that no, no, no, keep it over here, let's keep it over here. So those are the people that transcend the life for me. What I mean by that is like, you know, as a black person growing up young in my life, I can't describe anybody else here or anybody in my life.
It was like, those are the people that said you can't do this, you can't do that, and they did it, and I was just like I always looked at them. It was like I ain't I ain't gotta be like them, but I respect that what I'm saying. And that's why when I met with people like for Rell, it was easy for me to say, I don't understand you, and I don't really I don't really get where you're going there, but your music is fucking bank. How did you meet? That's how I met at how I meant for uh.
We was in sad don't doing sound studios. Everybody used to stick. Everybody used to think. Biggie used to be called at Daddy's. How something happened at daddy's house, I don't remember, but Big but Big used to come to sound on sound studios and he used to have upstairs or I used to have downstairs. And I used to see Biggie. After the war report, I used to see biggie like almost every day I'm working on in R. Yeah, and uh friend of mines. He was my manager at
the time. I believe Martin Maure, Martin Moore from Martin Moore from yeah, OK, because that's part of my We're gonna get to that I used to when I was fourteen. People don't realize the skit. So he discovered me. He's gotta got me signed. But Martin Maure said to me, um, he said, Yo, these dudes they up here, they're trying to work with puff and so I was like, all right, cool, like I had the UMR had that hard the whole album was done. Um. So he comes like yeah yeah.
So he comes to sound on sound and he goes, um, and I just I just remember I met some dude in Canada just now reminded me of for real. He was trying to be for real, but he reminded me for real because his inner attitude, not not the attitude that he was trying to show me, but his inner attitude, but for all actually came up to me and said, yo, um, nobody never listens to me. And I was like that was awkward, Like that was his first sentence, Like nobody
Neames listened to me. The person that does is going to go through the roof, and I'm walking. I'm hot, but I'm like something something in my body said, shut up and listen to this guy. So I listened and he goes the first person that listens to me, I've worked with other people. And then it said and then he started quoting Bloody Money to me, saying, and I was like, damn. I was like, alright, cool. You know I'm looking at him. He don't look like a Bloody
Money type of guy. He's not supposed to be knowing that song off the album and get manut with war Report that basement. I was just telling you about. That's what I used to listen to component Oriegan war Report. You're tiler. How old are you? Like nine hundred years because you got to save it. I'm forty this year and that year and then trying to out of forty. I can't wait to see the forty one. Feel like this is incredible. Yeah, he gave your five, but he
wasn't really what you like. He started thinking about doing d whatever it is. Yeah, so yeah, let me just ask you. Every gonna get men's Men's club. Let me tell you some weird ship that happens. I'm real talk. I would like this herritt. I was with my girl. We went to the pick up your girl. We took her let's make some your finger. It took her grandma to the casino for mother to get grandma her grandma. Okay, god bad because you know, to go play the joints. So I go to the bathroom and some dude I
think I think he's Jamaican. I think he's Jamaican. Did you know he had an accident. I couldn't place the accident. It was somebody that could have been Canada. I don't know. I'm there, I'm washing my hands and the dude walks in and he just looks at me and he said, you're not gonna die your beards That's what he said, No, no my hands. At this point, no it would have been. And I said, h I don't like it. I don't like to die. I don't like none of that ship.
He's like really but Matt like pencil like he's thinking because he was thinking, and he's older than me. I could tell he's older than me. So I'm like, alright, cool is that? Because I'm out of here, bro. And then he's like, it looks good man. I'm like you says his life that name. You gave him confidence and let his let his DoD just fade out, give him confidence. He looked any crazy man. That's my story. So when's the last time you spoke to y'all? See Bay? I
know that? Yeah, yeah, about about a month ago. I went out of South Africa. Hold on time, let's make some noise flaws on us one more time. I went out to see y'all seeing you went out there hang out with him Ferrari Shepherd and you know, y'all see Bay is you know he's a He's a beautiful dude. Like this dude is like you know, he's like, you know, he's a Muslim and a lot of his um, a lot of his music in his stands has to do
with incorporating Islam. I'm trying to figure out that living as a as a Muslim can come back to America. I can't speak on this situation at this particular time, but um, I know that he he hasn't wanted to be in America for a long time. He doesn't want to come out here. Yeah, regardless of his particular political situation in South Africa, you know, as you notice here
in a minute and et still travel. Okay, Yeah, and I think that I'm appalled because you know, um, he is somebody who exists completely and totally outside of the music business. He exists as an artist like the business. He exists as an artist, as a creative spirit, like the epitome of an artist. Like this is this is real? Like this is real. Like I'm not Muslim. I would tell you, I don't, you know, I respect Islam. I respect I respect um people, anybody who searched for truth.
So what would you claim if somebody would ask you, what would you I'm just me, you know, I recognize that God and all like that. If you recognize the God in yourself, I recognize the God in you everything. I'm every religion and I'm every gang too. Yeah, there's a lot of but that's how you gotta beever whoever I'm hanging with. I'm a vice lord. You of the car. You understand the craft, the theory of the one. He's every game, everything, everything everything you know. But but but
this is how this sounds. This is out y'all seen bay, Like I went out there and and he's I'm talking to him and he's quoting verses from the Koran and not in South Africa, did you stay in huts? No? No, no, in South Africa's South Africa's the most developed countries. There's a W out there. No, there's no w. But this some nice hotels is some nice spots that I'm western. No, they got a whole different system, all right, can you name me one otherwise? South Africa is no Chaine. South
Africa's though, change the chain hotels. You can go to Sheraton, I can. Yeah, that's right, Yeah, you can. You can get a Star Wars. They better not be four point Sheridan. That's a difference. That's a difference. I don't want to fourth point, but but both points that still, I'm gonna put you one to the to the boutique hotels into the official spots outside of You're very You're very rich, I can tell by the way you just can you
somebody hearing me? I'm not rich, I'm not ready. No, No, I'm a working class and c who figured out I've cracked the code. I've seen. That's now. You know what's funny about you saying that when I when I say I'm a working class image. Listen, I'll tell you something. I see the damage. I knew he was gonna get drunk. He's my man. Yeah, he gets spent. You know that. I know he drinks for the same block. You know I said, when you been a nigger, said, man, I
just stay in Europe. I get this money. He pulled out a passport that's looked like a phone book. My nigger, let me explain. Let this nick a ju to damage to live in Berlin. Listen, I went to Berlin, Big up Berlin, grimy people. What specks that you go to? You see a post time, you see posted everywhere. Horn? That horn is terrible one. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. J in Berlin, I'm sorry. And that was we needed a proper horn for you at that Berlin was gonna let
them give you a fake horn. We're getting that. He getting that fucking that fucking tear down the war money. Yeah, man, I think the passport was like this. I went to the first time I went to South Africa. I went with JA. I went with damage. You I'll be I'll be in certain countries. I'll be in like Croatia or some ship I'll be in a club and tap me the shoulder. I think live in Malmo. He lived in Malmo, Sweden. Malmo is the Malmo in a half hour from from
copen Hagen, Denmark. If you go to Malmo, Sweden, you hang out with j ro alcoholics. But this is a fraternity of working class room ceas that are all over the world. I know where all they at. I know I know where they ad. I travel the world. I see him j row Uh, what's your man, eldest sense
safe artifacts? That's another one. That's another one. Master aces in Italy right now, Master as Marco Polo in Italy right Welcome to play a new podcast network featuring radio and TV personalities talking business, sports, tech, entertainment and more. Why they like y'all revolution because like I would to consider you a revolution every activist hip hop type of guy. Right.
But like your biggest crowds as white people. Yes, that happen because white people have money and they can afford to come to the concert. They afford. Niggers the hood don't have money. They can't go to concerts. They're just be in the hood. White people be like they look in the village Voice and they look in the in the time out in New York and they'll be like, I want to go to concert. I have some extra money to spend. I'm gonna go to concert. I like
Tyler Corlin's a good choking. But you know that's that's a good thing. Who has please, that's a good thing. Because hip hop music is folk music. It don't matter if you're white, black, Jupiterian. You know what I'm saying, Jupiter, I'm speaking Jupiterian. I'm with you. Let me get a five people federations under that sounds right up, Noriega language. I'm using it up, Terry, go ahead, continue. Hip hop
speaking the language that people speak right now. What I'm saying so hip hop the reason hip hop is united more cultures than any music and than any music. Hip hop has united more cultures than any force anything in the history of the planning. More white people, black people, brown people, yellow people, read people get together over hip hop music than anything. You know what I'm saying. Because hip hop speaking the language that we're all speaking and
speaking the language is going on right now. So when Nori came out, like what what what what what what? That's what niggas was on the street saying at the time. That's what nigga was saying. And whatever niggas is saying right now, whether it be Panda or whatever and whatever whatever is going on, that's what's happening right now, and then make it make it to a record. Country music
is like that. Folk folk music is like what it was like that, but folk usic it is not a popular art form like it was in the seventies, you know what they're like. But country music is like to be besides country music. And I don't country music. I'm not a country music fan, but I recognize real recognize really you know what I'm saying that the country music is about struggle. It's about white people struggle, American big storytellers in the music. It's beautiful and it's it's similar
to hip hop in that regard. But hip hop is our ship. What I'm saying, hip hop is our ship. Golf Brooks and the niggas, yeah, they gotta struggle. That country music that's Golf Brooks. That's country music right horse right away. Yeah, Like I mean, like it's definitely their version of reality. You know what I'm saying, Country Muic. It's music. I'm gonna tell you what. I'm gonna keep it all the way you wonna keep it all change. It's music made by uneducated people there. And I'm not
saying uneducated as a judgment. He was about to take some of that Dame Dash Whiskey by the way, people you people out there and let people know we got day Dash Whiskey on the table, yes, representing for you that Now, now even let me feel you get into that. Let me just qualify my statement before. But I say uneducated, I'm not meaning the disk. I mean people that don't
receive the standard westernized traditional education. You know what I'm saying, Like niggas might have dropped out of high school, but it's still run the world. Bill Gates didn't graduate from college but still made a lot of money. You know what I'm saying, Like when I say uneducated, uneducated, it's not a judgment. But there's white people in the South that didn't have the traditional education. You know, I'm saying, like even the term niggad, like even if we're niggas
to political for us quick real quick. Even the term niggad was white people not understanding how to pronounce the Spanish were negatro negative. Say niggad, it becomes it was niggra negative south sain right, right, So as they did, it became nigger over time. That's where the word nigger comes from. It comes from not having a Western standardized education, you were saying. So when I say un educated, it's not the dis nobody. So okay, all right, so now
we heard a room on that Kanye. I think Kanye's first feature was like with you? Is that correct? Yeah? I used to with Kanye back in the days. Wait before, Does that mean you don't sunk with them? Now? Yeah? I'm a I'm a Kanye West fan. What was the first time you met met Kanye? The first time I met Kanye Um, I was working on my quality album that I'm not get bias on. I was in Platinum Platinum studios. He came through No Idea or Platinum Mine
of studios. You still own that. It's like, that's Platinum studios, that's platinum. Okay. So what student's Latinum island? Which was Ken Duro Eiffel Duro? Right, Douro used to be the I had an engineer at Platinum Island. Platinum Island was in the same building or across the same next door to room was next door to Rookoes downtown, right right, thank you. I'm working in Platinum Island Studios. Uh huh,
and Kanye West come through the door. Now. I'm doing a session from a quality album, and I'm winning the most deaf to show up because most of we have a song on my quality album called Joy. I'm wrapping about my kids and my kid's birth, and most def is on it. I took him a long time to record this verse. By this time, he was doing movies. He was blowing up. So I'm trying to get in touch on it was hard to get in touch room. Kanye come through the door. I never seen this Nick,
never heard this Nick. He said, I'm here to meet most deaf. I said, well, guess what. He might not show up, But who are you? He said, most have told me to meet here? Meet him here. I got some beats, I said, play me the beats. We're gonna album. Kanye played me the Beasts. Every beat that Kanye played me, he played me for beasts at night. All the beats made into my album that makes noise for Kanye being a savage all I said, yo, I said, who I said, now,
then beats you Nigga. That that's that's why he got an ego, because Nigga came in. He pitched you for you, bought for y'all living for from now blue. Every time ain't doing anything fucked up, we blame make some noise for the reason. I can't believe how good these beats was because I had never heard of him. So I'm like, how have I never heard of you and your beat of this quality? He told me, he said, I did beat on uh d I Angeletti album. Yeah, I did
beat on Jamaine dupri album four two. I did beat on Beatie Seagull. He told me he did the Truth and then the Reason Truth, all that, all that Beatie Seagull ship. But he said that. That's when I was like, play me some ship. So he did the Gorilla Manshoe rap, the good to You to get by all that ship on the Quality album, and um, I just was. And then when I went on tour, Common was on tour doing Electure circus. I was open to act. Kanye was like, I'm trying to get my music out there. Niggas ain't
sucking with me. I said, I said, come on toward me. He came on toward me. He came out every every way way you brought Kanye. When you listen to make some noise for to live bringing, Oh yeah, if I ain't my nigga, Tyler, he's too humble to say that, I'm gonna say it for him. You listen to the last you ever heard of? Take a bone? Yes I have, I know about. You're not gonna take a shot? Were even New York City and I'll take a shot. Hold on.
We're gonna let you finish your story first. We need more and more Kanyeum, you break it down, We're gonna do the last. He break it down, he said, He said Tyler Quality brought me on tour, perform on the tour and ship like. Did he say that? He said that on the last on the song College drop Out. He explained the whole story. I brought him on tour.
Did you know he was crazy from the beginning? Oh listen, I was when Kanye West, when I first met him out, I said, hold on, y'all, hold on Nick and played me Jesus walks. When I first met the wait the first day you met him, and he probably the first day, maybe the first month or so or lyrics done. This is four or five years before she came out. Didn' nig played me? He played me Dear Mama, not Dear Mama to Hey Mama, La La la la. I said,
I haven't heard nothing so beautiful in my life. He played me that, He played me Jesus Walks, I said, and it was the version that out this. This is before he had a deal, before College drop out. He played me Jesus Walks. He played me a bunch of a bunchet of those songs, a bunche of those songs. But I remember Jesus Walks and the Hey Mama. I said, you need to put these ships out now. He said, no, no, no. That's when Nigga said, he said, my first album is before he had a deal, no deal. I want to
do what he wanted to do. He said, my first album is called College ramp Out on the songs. My next album is called Late Late Registration. That the that Jesus Walks and I mean the Hey Mama. That's gonna be a late registration Jesus Walks walks. It's gonna be my Jesus Walks was calculated from college dropout. But when he put it out, Jesus Walks with a single, he says it on the song, this is my single. Dog radio knees this. He says it on the song. And you knew, and you knew, like did you know he
was a genius who you just knew? I couldn't to be real with you because niggas used assent tell him who everybody. Kanye had the hot beats, but niggas he was trying to sell himself as an artist, and niggas like, we want your beats. But and I used to be like he used. He used to be on the tour bus with us. He used to be rhyming. And he's wrong all the time. Every and you coming to the room, somebody knew coming to the room. He kicked the wrong like I say, I kicked around for you, somebody new
coming to room. He kicking the round again for the new right. He was geting annoying in sometimes it's annoying. It's thirsty, thirsty, right, thirsty right, but he was he had no bounce, but he knew he was going. He knew he was going. Sometimes being thirsty. He needs listen. When we did we was you know my team, we did the street team for death Jen Rockefeller. Stop that stop that stop that time. And so I'm gonna stop passing you a week, keep giving it away? What was
I mean? I'm an interview moved you come on me? And what was he had the joints? When he had the when he got into the wire through the wire, that was it with? What was was homegirl? On in those school ghokan? Wait? Wait, hold on? Hold on? Nobody asked for shots to take a bone. Hold On said, I come on, did you say I gotta make an appearance at a club? We hadn't show a video right now, I gotta give my Kanye story. It's my one and a half Kanye story. Because this is gonnaun everybody like that.

We need to be hydrated, man, so we can keep drinking. I'm gonna let you get
away with this right now. Man, you I want you to drink water because I care about you. You know what. I can't the whole toy. There was like three people who just said then they can't drink water. I'm just landed and just like my story, go ahead, get to it's the story is white now. But you just for got your story. No, no, I don't. I was doing this. I was the street team manager from Miami for Deaf Jam and Rockefeller, and nobody believed in Kanye at Rocket right,
so they did not. He leaked that record to remember that, and then he paid for the video head for the radio promotion and he has look at that. Nick is changing the rules for you. They got water and ship. I'm gonna water ruining my story. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I out to talk of ball ahead. So he leaked the record what he lived, and he went to the he went to the he went to the Mix Shore Power summit in Puerto Rico. I was and we performed it.
Commen was then most of them and at the windhom Resort in Puerto Rico Rio del Mar. He's still ruining my story. Yeah, we forgot you, so hold me. He organized out of pocket. He told all the reps. Wait, wait, hold on, hold, I'm sorry, Jesus Christy. I'm talking about Michael and the song with jay Z and Kanye and the song when they say uh DJ and Puerto Rico for three days though, that's what you're talking about. Get

He said, must it is hot and he to take it to the radio I'm coming to every market, be ready and to nobody knows. Look how he liked the way he thinks that he came on my Let's make some noise. Toland reve we all got mad respect for kan Yea, I have way more respect. I don't know why the table just moved, moved that whatever you got super hero
straight drinking this crazy? Alright, listen, all right, listen, I'm gonna be honest. I'm gonna be honest. I don't think he was lying before. No, but no, I'm gonna be honest. I took a shot with this with Careress one after the show. That's impressive. After the show, he was my man. I did investigation on him, like you, I hate you straight up. You said you like Hennessy's like the dog, so I wouldn't. I said, whatever dog right? He said whatever?
But I didn't, you know, Careress, I did a real investigation. Beef, what a relief? When were this poison? This product? Cease definitely took it to a different angle when I'm with that. I didn't with that as well. But I I studied Caress and I knew he liked it. My ties right, so we had the people ties, so we had to be at the It's like it just was my pleasure, like a person I grew up listening to, even though
I'm from Queens. I told him the Criminal Mary album, It's the only two songs I couldn't listen to because of my you know, loyalty, my loyalty if But now, so I do the investigation. I found out he likes my ties. We get the guys to make the best my ties in the world. We give him enough, we do it. So I had already run in my mind. I think we had a drunk Carress one and we had a drunk but I had one like in my mind it was like, this is Doe because it was interview.
We had a little side step with the you know the way he answered it is okay, I've defended him. This is my brother. You know, I love him, and that's it's it's like my lyrical father, you know what I'm saying. But I did take the shot with Caro Arress after the podcast. Now with that being said, this is my during the podcast. No, it was after. Now
we're doing a shot a tiger bone during the podcast. Now, also, I must warn you, when did we get sushi with this when I took the show with Caress, he's my idol. His next started sweat. I knew he was drunk. There's no way your next swat unless you're drunk. Ship when you're next swat. So if our next sway, we're gonna end this interview early, all right, but we gotta yo. He hates this ship. Hey man, you know, listen, we gotta show you how we do this live on drink treat.
I ain't gonna front. This chair is killed my sa I've been I've been trying to drill less. Feel like I was sitting on the poet. Let me tell you something. This podcast is ruining my career, everything, everything, everything, You know what. Somebody tweeting me the other day said, thank you knowing for sacrifices. You liver people's life. So liver man, that's my liver. All right, listen, So this is how we do it, all right. I think that was your drink.
I don't know which one who is who's drinking? You got to all right, you gotta take their glasses all just for this. Yeah, yeah, we gotta see you guys sideways. This is Tiger Bone. Man. You're from New York City. You know alright, respect, I used to I used to drink. This is three thousand, all right, I'm done. All right, everybody, come on you yea, where you at? Sunny? Your shot? For the coach. I don't take
another one toilet. So now now I don't want to stay standing now now, I want to stay standing to stand up there. Yeah, I'm gonna you can stand up. Do what happened. We'll be honest. I'm gonna sit down. So it's a stand up. It's okay. Right now, I'm a stand up and stand up to this ship. I told you, I told you all tag. Won't change your life, man, change your life. Everybody has a Tiger Bowl story about me.
You noticed that when you don't see you, you made a decision to become the tag boat guy about I don't know how that has happened. I don't know. Everybody has a type hole story. But you you made you did? I remember? I remember I crossed over to the dock side of the decision. He was like, I'm gonna talk about taking bone and every because it's different. You know what it is. It's you legal, That's what it was. It was it was, but it was the original Anori mystique. Yeah,
it was illegal. It's like smoking, like, it's like smoking beats. Try to buy a pack of Khalil's Beatis hold on the tib did you say beanies? Beaties? The little the little battom ship After after not eleven, they banned Khalil's Beatis. Let me used to be they had an association with like some sort of organization. Yeah, so they banned them ships. I don't claim responsibility. You did, you did? You picked up? That was a joke. That was when you pick up two shots to live
you committed. That was a visual. That's like you you can't put the fried chicken back, like when you're in the barbecue and you picked up two pieces of chicken at the black barbecue. That's a false equivalence that he got, he got way too he I don't even know what they were with that prepoly like, I don't know what. Come on, we're gonna do one more shot. See because the chicken you touch the drink is a plastic cup. No, I kind of get too smart on us. We can't
let we can't let you get away with that. We can't let you get away with that. If I did my finger in it, or I drink it, it's pretty much the same when you grab it. Watch, I'm gonna join you. I'm gonna join you and I've been sucked up all day. You listen. Let me just say something, thank you for joining us to the chance we had care arrests, drink three shots. We just want you to have to remembut myself. Oh no, my bad, because your your clap was not aggressive at all when you wanted

I'm gonna take one more shot with you. Yeah, I think that's Michaelas Actually, then that's great. That ba alright cool? You want me to help you out. That's the effect of moon shine. Yeah, this is this is this is
Chinese moon shot. So listen. So how many how many listeners y'all got at this point, were approaching three millions, were approaching three million. In April we had two point two millions. So let's make let's make some noise, right we are talking about that one whatever half a million a week, you know what I mean? And three million people listen to this bullshit. That's why it's bullshit. Thank you so much, yo, telling five, you're absolutely absolutely right.
I can't believe this bullshit. Bullshit. Listen, every time we speak, we make a podcast every time we speak. And then let me tell you something Nas told me ten years ago. I don't know why, like we was around like to me, Nas told me the internet was going to happen like it was something like we was in something with a black mask, please bridge. I don't know if that was equivalent to what I was thinking of, but but Na, Na, we sat and I actually a portfolio. I actually filmed it.
It was for what what documentary? And I sat there when I filmed him and we just talked about like you know, no, no, no no, And he told me, he said, someday these people are gonna pay us for our conversation. I thought he meant the internet when the Internet got got involved in Twitter, I thought he meant that.
But then years later, now I realized that he was telling me I was going to have this podcast at each number one and have millions of people listened to our bullshit together as a one because you know what hip hop, classic stories, what the people love, right, And I'm gonna with you. No no, no, She pick up

If you could drink that type of bone and drink that Hennessy, I ain't gonna lie you the hardest thing in Brooklyn and Nebraska, you know, and get more Hennessy and oh know that's water all right. If you can finish listen, I'm gonna keep it real. Let me drink funk everything else. You can drink this this shot of tyke a ball and then finish your Hennessy. You're the hardest. There's no Hennessy anywhere. No, no, no, don't finish that first. That's that's water, all right. He's
getting ready. Alright, cool, cool, all right, Nebraska and Home and the Dakotas and Brooklyn and Day County, all right, so look and remember take your glasses them. Yeah, Christmas, I love it. I love it. I love it. Yes, I bone get if you gotta take your shot. No, it's like there, just stuck me out. Oh what can I get it? For? What's my fortune? We just drank cat urine ship. I should know jiu jitsu after I drink that ship. Man, Now, are you sure you still?
And for this? I gotta work tonight. You can quit. You can quit, or you can finish your hand. I want to see if you're a real Brooklyn nigger right now. Yes, yes, I'm on the water side of day. Yeah, yeah, you're out of same plenty of water. But I'm gonna keep it. Read Hennessy and Tiger Bone. I don't remember them being friends ever. This podcast you usually last like this long. Yes, oh yeah, because you know, like I don't listen to podcast, we want you to to. He came in and he

Is that true? That's if he said that. Part one is true. Okay, part was not. He didn't say you will be arrested. No, he didn't say, but he said, proceed. You're in that story. He said, I'm gonna my accounting guys right here, man, he said, he said, called me Obama said, he said, drone.
We're talking about criminal justice reform. By the way, Barack Obama has released like hundreds of people. Let's makes a noise with rock Obamas people. He asked c he has also used drones as a preemptive measure, So don't make no no notice for that. He doesn't it, Hey, man, listen to the job of the president. It is not easy. It is to maintain the status quo. But let's stop being serious, right right, let's go, let's get back for
