Piccolo is pushing Gohan beyond his limits, while he's been studying, Piccolo has been training. He easily defeats him in his super saiyan form. Piccolo tells Gohan that his greatest weakness is his arrogance, he rely's to much on the fact that he is so powerful. Which makes him drop his guard at the wrong time.
