We're going to begin this hour with the discussion of something that's a little off the beaten trail of this show, but it's still important, I think, and that is why women gossip about others.
Researchers have determined why that may be the case. Gossip. Now, we all enjoy a little bit of chattering about the latest rumor, mill or scandal from time to time. Let's face it with it. Sometimes we use those things to sort of get others attention. But ladies beware, as women who gossip about others are driven by well, the researchers are saying, jealousy. That's why women gossip. It's about jealousy, and they believe the researchers,
now, don't shoot the messenger on this. They believe gossip is also driven by low self esteem. That's what the scientists are saying. That's what the studies are indicating. So when you know somebody, it's a little gossip machine, a gossip factory. Like the person is turned pro on gossiping.
They are doing so because of either a motivation of jealousy about who they're gossiping about, or they have low self esteem about themselves, and by gossip gossiping about others, they believe it raises themselves up, it helps to elevate somebody that's lower than they ought to be. Now, researchers, in this particular study about why women gossip, they recruited one hundred and ninety women age between I'm not sure what the ages were and what they determined. They were asked
to rate their own physical attractiveness. This is in a questionnaire. This is all subject to So you take one hundred and ninety women who were asked to rate their own physical attractiveness and self esteem on a scale of particular scale that they were measuring. They were then randomly assigned to look at pictures of women
who were categorized as either high or low attractiveness. In other words, you know people who you would say are the more beautiful among us and those who are not as attractive, and remember beauty of courses in the eyes of the beholder. Participants were asked to imagine themselves in a social group with a target man and to picture the woman they had seen in the picture of entering the
group and getting close to the man. Follow me. They did their jealousy then on a scale, after which they were presented with negative information about the woman and asked to rate the likelihood of sharing this information in various social context and other words, get to the gossiping already well. The analysis revealed participants were more likely to spread negative information about the woman to their own friends rather
than to anyone else. They were also more likely to report feeling higher levels of a romantic jealousy if the woman was attractive, which in turn linked to higher chances of gossiping about her. Obviously, to raise herself up, because there's saying that she has low self esteem and she's got a jealous streak in her mind, so participants were. Participants with low self esteem were more likely to gossip, particularly when their competitors were highly attractive. In other words,
trash the other person so that you make yourself look good. I guess that's the idea behind it now. The team of researchers were from Beijing University published their findings in the Journal of Evolutionary Psychology Science, and this research investigated whether and how young women used gossip strategies to win opportunities for themselves when facing physically
attractive, potential romantic competitors. In other words, in this particular case, when these women found that there were other women among them that they believed were more attractive than themselves, and there were men suitors in and about their space, they would chitter and chatter and find ways to generate rumors and scandals about the other woman so that their male suitor would be more attracted to them and believe that they were better off being with the lower esteem woman who actually,
in her mind believed she was less attractive than the one she was near or about that her man may have been checking out because let's face that she was hotter than the one that was feeling the low self esteem and the jealousy. That's what the study that I referred to is showing. And so there's basically five reasons that have been determined as to why women gossip. Number One, as I've already pointed out in the last segment, to make themselves feel better. In other words, they gossip about others and somehow, some way that garners a better feeling in themselves, so that's maybe why they do it. Two they gossip to take the focus off of their own situation and put it
somewhere else. Or three, they are jealous of others and so they're protecting their turf. Or four they're just bored. They've got more time on their hands than they need. They just like chit chatting and dissing and gossiping about others. Just bored. Or number five, they have low self esteem, and so by putting somebody else down or gossiping about them somehow, some way, they perceive that that will elevate themselves. Well, if that's true,
I don't know. There are results of this study show some interesting facts, but I do want you to know this too, and that is that men gossip just as much ladies. Yes, men gossip as well as women. That's for sure. It's not something that is specific to the female gender at all. Because men men gossip, and they take things, you know, and it it maybe take things in a more physical manner about certain gossiping elements,

Hello, good morning, Doctor Bob. I'll try not to go us up here. Okay, sir, go right ahead. A couple questions. I had, I got a label stuck on me back in twenty fourteen, which is ten years PRP diagnosed, and the doctor wanted to, you know, a mansion amount of money to cure me, is what he said. I think it was thirty thousand dollars over a two year period. Let me explain to what PRP means of folks so that they know PRP means platelet rich plasthma.
That's what it means. Go aheadswer pit pitiriasis rubra hilarious. Yes, that's another acronym for the condition you have. But some people may it may actually think that it's something else. I just wanted to clarify that. So I had that after a family physician had me on I had a broncho infection, and then he put me on high dosage of antibiosid and he turned around put me on pregnant zone. That's when my whole body just broke out from
head to toe with this rash. I actually have just gutted it out. Over time. I'm a lot better than I used to be. I don't have the shedding amount that I mean, the shedding was off the charts of my skin, but I still have a condition in my scalp. It's like it's kind of like thoriasis, but you really can't see it redness or anything like that. But I get this scaliness and itching. That's one of the symptoms and I'm wondering if I have a leaky gut. Well, that's exactly
correct. Your way out ahead of me here, Jim. The leaky gut is very common with these kinds of autoimmune type reactions. It begins with this height. Now, I got an email from somebody saying that their doctor suspects that they have a vitamin B twelve deficiency because they have a whole bunch of symptoms related to the possibility of having a BF twelve deficiency, such as, you know, fatigue all the time, irritability, decreased appetite, weak muscles, is tingling in the extremities like your fingers and your toes. These are all possible signs of
a vitamin B twelve deficiency.
