We began this hour as promised last hour in a discussion

of talking about the adverse effects of being exposed to air conditioning. Air conditioning exposure now right now in this country, I mean we are roasting in certain parts of the country. Most parts it's hot. Look at some of the temperatures. They're off the map, seeing record highs in certain areas. And I got to tell you that, personally, I do not like air conditioning. Never have. I've alway had issues with air conditioning. I don't like

it. I don't like it in cars. I'd rather have I just I don't want to be cooking away at one hundred and ten or one hundred and twenty degrees either. Because I used to live in that temperate. But I also don't like air conditioning. I like it just like right in them, you know, like give me, you know, seventy eight to eighty four degrees fahrenheit night or day, and that's that's my space. But I'll tell you what, Some people just like me don't like air conditioning, but other

people love it. They can't even live without it. They're air conditioning twenty four to seven. This time of year in many parts of the US, it's hot out there, and not everyone likes to be outside in the high heat of the day, so they spend most of their time indoors during the hours when the sun is blazing away. The problem is that indoor air isn't much better unless you have air conditioning AC. But that isn't the only Problemnfortunately,

prolonged exposure to air conditioning can have negative effects on our health. Your health, my health. Yes, air conditioning can have obvious positive effects, like as in keeping us alive in the blistering heat that's going on in certain parts, But have you ever thought about the negative consequences of spending the majority of your time in an air conditioned controlled environment. It can affect your health, especially if the system is poorly maintained, and I just personally don't like

cold air blowing in my face as it relates to sleep. For example, poorly maintained air conditioning units can be rather loud. I do not like noise in the room that I am trying to sleep in when I travel, when I go abroad, or I'm staying in a hotel where there's an air conditioner that you have to turn on because the room would be too hot and it's just loud. I cannot. I mean, I just I don't like noise.

I want complete silence. And all the research says that is important to have complete silence while you're trying to sleep because your brain, if you have all that noise going on, it's trying to interpret it. It keeps you from going into the deep beta delta and all those different sleep waves brain waves

that gives you the restorative sleep that you need. Noises can disturb your sleep if it's within earshot, no matter what it is, and that means turn off the television when you're trying to sleep, turn off the radio, all of that. It can affect your mood, your concentration, and cause sleep

loss. You may have the inability to deal with heat. The prolonged exposure to air conditioning controlled environments can create the inability to deal with heat towards Your body becomes so accustomed to artificially cooling that when you do get heated up and you can't turn on the AC, you can't adapt. You maladapt, meaning you have adverse reactions just by dealing with the heat. Meaning those who spend a lot of time in these environment sies Ac twenty four seven three sixty five

can become increasingly intolerant of hot temperatures. The stress on your body caused by having more difficulty in regulating its temperature from moving from a cool environment to sweltering outdoor air can increase your risk of heat related illnesses such as a heat stroke, especially if your body hasn't had time to adjust to the higher temperature.

So, in other words, these people who are in air conditioning everywhere, they run like rats from their car to an air conditioning because they can't stand the heat because they start pouring, and they certainly don't want to sweat, that would be terrible to sweat. Then their body never gets a chance to adapt to back to whatever it is that the prevailing temperature is in their area.

They're always in an artificially controlled environment. Rooms set to a very low temperature in the ac area can promote lethargy or tiredness, making you feel sluggish and unable to concentrate. Oh, I thought that was a caffeine deficiency. No, no, no. Cold can put you to sleep, and I know that a cold environment is the better environment to sleep, and I get that, but I'm talking about waking environments here too. Your immune response is

to cold. Cold can weaken the body's immune response, making us more susceptible to viral and bacterial infections. Remember, folks, we carry thousands of viruses and bacteria on in and about our bodies all all the time. And when we are in or get stressed by a cold environment, like we come out of the heat and into the cold shock, that adaptation that has to occur. We maladapt. That's a stress or and it's because we're not used to

it, because we're in the air conditioning twenty four to seven. The prolonged exposure can restrict or constrict blood vessels and nasal passages in the upper respiratory track, reducing the ability to fend off these pathogens and viruses. I know that that happens when I get on an airplane and they've got it like sub zero on that airplane and I get on and all those germs floating around and my nose is going through histamine from the cold, and bang. Not good.

We'll finish this when we come back. Stay with us. Also coming up a little bit later as the Health Alternative of the Week. I'm Doctor Bob Martin, and welcome back to the Doctor Bob Martin Show, and we thank you for tuning into the program. Coming up will be the Health Alternative of

the Week. But I wanted to let you know that we have a new toll free caller toll free caller hotline phone number for anyone wishing to call into the program to ask a health related question, which we will get to some of those coming up this hour, So stay tuned for that. If you have a health question, I'd be happy to try to answer it for you, and that number is whole Free Nationwide eight hundred six zero six eighty eight

twenty two eight hundred six zero six eighty eight twenty two. Jot it down for safe keeping, passing on to your sick friends and loved ones and neighbors and co workers eight hundred six zero six eighty eight twenty two. To ask a health related question, you'll hear me answer the phone. Simply state your first name, the city you're living in, the state you're living in, and your question. That's or your health comment real straightforward eight hundred six zero

six eighty eight twenty two. Now, if you're just tuning into the conversation, I've been talking about the adverse effects of air conditioning on one's body, and it's the reality check is we need ear conditioning, especially if you live in an area of the country that's hot, and that we're having record heat right now in the United States, so there's no way to get around it.

But the point of the matter is when the temperature starts to settle in and balance out and it's not so extreme, you need to try to move away from twenty four to seven air conditioning because researchers are finding out that air conditioning exposure on a constant basis, there are some deleterious effects of that, meaning your body when it does get faced with heat won't adapt to it very well. And I personally do not like air conditioning and I know a lot

of other people don't either. They get an air conditioning, they don't feel well, their nose starts running, they feel tired, they just don't like it. I'm one of them, and I dare say there's a lot of other people, and there are other people who just cannot live without air conditioning. They can't imagine not having air conditioning in their house. Twenty four to seven maxed out sixty degrees. I mean, they run like a cold warehouse, like a freezer in some places. I mean I've been over to friends

houses ment I had to have my coat on the whole time. They were just I mean, it was ridiculous. Airplanes are sort of the same way. Some airplanes, some of the airlines. They are so cold on those airline airliners that when I get on there, I kind of maladapt. I

have to be careful. I have to be on top of my health game, loading up on supplements before I loading up, and making sure I'm hydrated and all of that because all the germs, all the and I know they try to do a good job of filtering the air on airline airliners, but they're still You're in a compacted area with a lot of people sneezing and wheezing and coughing and all of that germs, and they're floating through the air and

they're gonna meet your nose. And the air conditioning for those people who are not that good with that don't adapt as well. But air conditioning also, besides that, even though it's a sary thing and it has revolutionized our lives, no question about it, in our living quarters in times when there's heat,

still can cause problems, including muscle pain and stiffness. Prolonged exposure to cold temperatures can cause muscles to contract and tighten, leading to stiffness and discomfort, which can also exacerbate pain and stiffness in those people with arthritis or other muscular skeletal condition. So here you have people not even realizing who have arthritis that the thermostat on the wall may be the cause of their problems. So

turn up the heat, meaning meaning don't live in the cold. Try changing the thermostats so it's not as cold, and see if your muscle pain, in your stiffness abates or goes away or improves. Maybe your ingestion of the tile and all or the motrend or the aspirin or the leave goes down and you're wondering and you give credit to the thermostat, you change the thermostat.

The other problem with air conditioning is mold. Under the right conditions, mold can build up in the coils and ducts from condensation that form when the cool air passes, and especially it's bad in certain cases, creates a breeding ground for all kinds of bacteria and fungi that can result in black mold, especially if you don't keep your air conditioning system clean and you don't have it maintained.

When these microorganisms go airborne, after they sit there and breed and grow, they can lead to breathing into these into your lungs, into your nasal cavity and generate bronchitis and pneumonia and even legion air's disease, all caused by air conditioning and air conditioning systems that are not well maintained. That where you

develop all this mold and then you have indoor air pollution. Poorly maintained air conditioners can add to indoor air pollution by bringing particles that may trigger symptoms such as sneezing and stuffy nose, and those with respiratory diseases like asthma. It

can set them off or allergies. They are particularly susceptible to this. And air conditioning also circulates the air within a closed space, and this means that it can accumulate pollutants like dander and dust and these volatile organic compounds VOCs and airborne chemicals that just blow around and end up wafting through the air and meeting

your nose. This makes it important to maintain the air conditioning system to improve their quality and efficiency, not just to lower your bill, your electrical bill, but also the negative impacts of the circulating air that you are breathing in. So I am a big fan of making sure that the air conditioning, if you have a system, gets maintained. And if you can't do that, you live in an apartment building and you're not in control at least by

one of these HEPA filter systems, these four stage HEPA filter systems. It's worth it. It's such a great investment. Turn that baby on and run it so that you have the cleanest air possible. You'll be better off whether it's air conditioned or not. Because these poorly maintained air conditioners can lead to all kinds of things, including migraines and headaches and dehydration. Poor quality of air. Dry air is another problem with air conditioning. It literally dries you

out. Air conditioning controlled environments tend to dry air, which can make it harder to breathe, especially for those people who have allergies and have asthma and other respiratory weakness. These air conditionings can dry out the air in your home by removing water vapors as it cools the air, which can lead to dehydration. And when you are dehydrated with a dried out nose and throat, more susceptible to you guessed it, viral infections and bacteria. So there you have

it. This is why it lowers your resistance because you're not adapting to it. You're artificially lowering temperature below your own body temperature. And I realize it's hard to even conceptualize at changing that, but do it slowly. Take baby steps, like if you're running that thermostat at sixty degrees fahrenheit, now change it to sixty five. And if you do, okay, go to sixty

eight and so forth and so on. You get the idea. Because prolonged exposure to air conditioning controlled environments can cause you all kinds of health problems, including your skin to dry out, make you it itchy and irritated, and then you go to your doctor, go oh, I got itchy and irritated skin. Your doctor gives you some cortisone cream or some other thing that was

not necessary. It was simply caused by dehydration secondary to constant air conditioning, so you know, and obviously keeping air conditioning On the positive side, air conditioning has become essential part of our life for people living in certain locations, and if properly maintained, they can improve air quality, cool down humid air, circulate the air, prevent heat damage to electronic equipment from overheating. So

I get it. There's pluses and minuses for sure in this category. You just got to know what you're doing and know the importance of it, and try to get outdoors more often so that you can experience what it's like to be in varying degrees of temperature, so your body goes through the motion of adapting from hot to cold, hot to cold, cold to hot, instead of one temperature all the time and maladapts. All right, we missed the Health Alternative. We'll pick it up after the bottom of the hour break.

Stay with us. I'm doctor Bob Martin. Anybody's got fay mistakes, but everybody's got a choice to make. Everybody needs to leave the faith. WHENNY taking you use money, you infhoe Heny healthy and Hay. Welcome or welcome back to the Doctor Bob Martin Show. I wanted to let you know we have a toll free hotline phone number because we are going to get to calls shortly. Here if you want to call into this total free number nationwide,

you can ask a question about health or make a health comment. That number eight hundred six zero six eighty eight twenty two. Eight hundred six zero six eighty eight twenty two. My website address doctor bob dot com. You can also send an email through that website. There's the social media platforms over there. It's where the podcast library lives, It's where all things health Newswise is doctor Bob dot com or the number here to call into the show to ask

a question about your health. Caller Hotline eight hundred six zero six eighty eight twenty two. Now we're running Chad behind, so we'll get to this week's health alternative of the week. Right now, all right, the health alternative of the week has to do with making sure the next time you're in your doctor's office, insisting if they do a blood test, insisting that they include a homo cistine blood test. Homocysteine is an amino acid. It's an important

blood marker. It's probably more important than cholesterol in terms of understanding your heart health and your brain health. It's so important. But the health alternative is about a formula. If your homocystine level is higher than seven on a blood test, jot that down for safekeeping so you have it the next time you get tested. This is an inflammatory marker, homocystine that is a very indicative marker of damage that can inflict to your artery, lining your epithelium of your

heart, of your arteries, and damage your heart and blood vessels. So you don't want high homocystine over seven. That's what you're looking for, and if it's over seven, this week's health alternative of the Week will help you out. It's called Homocystine Formula by a company by the name of Blue Bonnet. You can find this at all natural grocers stores or you can go to their website naturalgrosers dot com. Many factors can increase your blood levels of homocystine.

For example, a high protein diet will increase your level of homocystine. That's not good, especially one that includes red meat and dairy products in excess, and if you are eating them, try to get a moorganic and plant based or at least grazing in plants. Smoking, of course, and a high coffee consumption and high alcohol consumption and obesity all help raise homocystine levels up in your bloodstream, which can damage your heart and your blood vessels in your

brain. Certain prescription drugs like leveedpa, which is used for Parkinson's disease and met form and for type two diabetes, and methadrex eight, which is used for what rheumatory arthritis and cancer, and a whole long list of other drugs can raise homocystine levels up. Cholesterol lowering drugs can also raise homocystine levels up.

When you have insufficient amounts of fol eight, B six, B twelve, betane B two and magnesium levels, it can cause your body not to methylate, and this homocysteine level your blood level goes up, so supplementing this is the health alternative of the week. Supplementing with a formulation called homo Cystine formula by accompanied by the name of Blue Bonnet can help move the homocysteine level down until which time you can make those adjustments in your diet and lifestyle.

Some people just can't. They have to stay on certain medications. Therefore the homo systeine runs high. At least this will counter it. This week's alternative of the week is Homocystine formula by a company by the name of Blue Bonnet, a very large nutriceutical company that's found in most health food stores. It's gluten free, soy free, kosher, certified, non GMO, non dairy, vegan, free of milk, egg fish, all that. There's no corn, yeast, gluten, none of that in there. A healthy heart

food supplement Sistine Formula by Blue Bonnet. And if you don't have a natural grocery store near you, you can go to their website Natural grocers dot com and look up the health alternative of the Week homo systein Formula by blue Bonnet. All right, now, let's get to a phone call and say hello to al in Marshalltown, Iowa. This is Al from Marshalltown, Iowa,

and I have two questions. One has to do with toxicity. I'm wondering if you're provider of clean Slave has studied the interaction with with the description jobs and that we just take away thillsvan Hits. Second question is I use the your Spry toothpaste and I still have occasional sores in my mouth that happened different places. Thank you very much, okay Ol, thank you for your phone call. Yes, on clean slate. That's a good idea and you can

use that if you're on any kind of medication or any supplement. It's a liquid you take like ten or twenty drops under your tongue a couple times a day and it helps to rid your body of the various environmental toxins that you are in contact with. We're all in contact with them and you can find out how to get a hold of clean slate at Theroot Brands dot com forward Slash product. The Root areot brands dot com forward Slash product to get a

hold of clean Slate. As far as those sores in your mouth, I would see a dentist to see if there's any issue with biomechanical issues with your teeth. But usually we see with those applose lesions there either vitamin B twelve deficiency which stems from sometimes elevated homocysteine levels, or calcium deficiency B twelve and calcium for that maybe that's sore in your mouth. Do we have time for the health outrage of the week? I think, so let's go to the

health outrage of what was that? I'm sorry, health outrage of the week. Here we go. She's think you don't believe it. Come on each time for the health outrage because it's nothing, but it is outrageous. The US has the highest rate of childhood deaths among sixteen of the richest countries, according to a major global study. And this ties right into what I talked about earlier in the show. If elected, former President Donald Trump's going to

investigate big pharma over autism, allergies, and chronic health issues. Yes, we have the highest rate of child deaths among sixteen of the richest country and I've talked about this how the system that we have needs to be changed. We spend the most, get the least obstetrical in the United States States can save lives, obstetricians, baby doctors. But we do way too many sea sections. Some doctors believe sixty percent of sea sections are totally unnecessary. It's

all about defensive medicine and making more money on the case. There are honest doctors out there who don't participate in this however, of course. But when you look at the high rate of child deaths among sixteen of the richest countries, and we are dead last in that list, there is something wrong. Something needs to change. We're outperformed by Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway,

Portugal, Spain, Sweden. We had go on and on. Why is that? It's outrageous? So us so you did hounds. I'm a bush of number Simoncible, the old one, never single minds above all, Right, doctor Bob Martin, back with you. We're gonna go to a phone calls and questions momentarily here after we do the product recall of the week. The product recall of the week is first before we go to phone calls. So here it is no more than four thousand pounds of liquid eggs recalled

from nine states. USDA issues a recall for eight tons of beef sold at Walmart. As well, more than forty six hundred pounds of liquid egg products have been pulled from shelves due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. Michael Foods, Incorporated has issued a recall on approximately four six and twenty pounds of liquid egg products that contained milk, which is a known allergen but was not declared on the product label, and the US Department of Agriculture Food and Safety Inspection Services

say it's got to go. So if you have any of that, either the whether it's the eight tons of beef sold at Walmart they got recalled, or some egg related liquid egg product from Michael's Foods, you might want to take it back, get your money back. Certainly, don't eat it because there could be problems associated with it. The recalled products were shipped to restaurants

also in numbers of states. Don't know what to tell you there about what restaurants to stay away from, but at least you have some degree of knowledge about that. Now, all right, let's get right back to phone calls in questions, and your phone calls are invited at eight hundred six to zero six eighty eight twenty two. Health related questions or health comments eight hundred and six zero six eighty eight twenty two. And next up is Lisa in Colorado

Springs. My name is Lisa, and I'm calling from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and I'm having a question in regards to my numb feet that it goes higher and higher up towards the knee, that the this and I do have pre diabetes which one C A for six point two, so is it possible that it is caused by pre diabetes? Please answer my question when you have time. Thank you all right, Lisa, thank you for your phone call. Yes, it's very likely that you have neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy caused by

high levels of sugar. Your A one C is way too high at six point two. That should be below, well below five point seven, So that needs to be managed. Can you manage that naturally with exercise and staying away from ultra processed foods and processed foods as much as you can, and eating properly, maybe a Mediterranean diet, and getting sufficient amounts of prote and certain good fats during the meals. There are ways to deal with this and

if it is neuropathy, there are supplement formulas that have B vitamins. Certain B vitamins in them like benfhotiamin B one B six B twelve methyl cobaloman. There are specific formulas that help nerve regeneration, nerve growth factor. You can find these at health food stores. I know that there's probably a natural grocer store there in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and go into the nutrition department there

and ask them and you've got something for neuropathy. You can also check with your chiropractic physician because if there's a problem with your nerves in your lower back i e. Some misalignment of vertebrates in the lower back, that can also cause exactly what you're experiencing. So be sure to get an examination with a licensed chiropractic physician to make sure it's not a misalignment or a biomechanical problem in your lower back. Clear that out if it is, and then get your

blood sugar under control. There's also all kinds of blood sugar formulations you can take in the health food store that include burberine and kyolic age, garlic extract, and you'll need some chromium and some extra zinc. Some be complex vitamins and over time this should get better. Lisa and I do. Thank you for your phone call. All right, Next up, we're going to say hello to John, who's calling in from Phoenix, Arizona. This is John

from Phoenix, Arizona. My question to you is you're having suggestions on helping we move spider veins and vericose veins or anything you can put on topical and a herb or something, and also can we take something wait for your answer on your live show. Thank you, sir, Okay, John from Phoenix, thank you for your phone call. Yes, there are ways. When you start to get the spider veins, it means the blood vessels are starting to break down. You need extra amounts of quercutan, a form of vitamin

C. Go to the health food store get vitamin C with quercutans. Start taking that pine extract. Pichnogenol also helps strengthen the capitlaries so they're not so fragile. Resvretrol also helps. There happens to be a formulation or two called Vanguard Vain Guard capsules and Vanguard cream. They have certain things in it like chestnut extract and some other botanicals that may be able to reduce the risk going forward of these weakened blood vessels. All right, thank you for your phone

call. John, Good health to you. Thank you to be right back. Just give yes natural medicine whenever and wherever applicable. Welcome or welcome back to the Doctor Bob Martin Show. You've been hearing all these phone calls this hour coming into the program, people asking questions, getting health related questions on the air and answers. You can do that as well. You simply call our caller hotline phone number anytime you wish, keep your radio down in the

background. If you happen to be listening to the show and you call during the show or after the show, you can call in and simply state your first name, only, the city and state in which you live, and your question or your health related comment. That number is eight hundred six zero six eighty eight twenty two. The only bad question is the one you're not asking. We love to get health related questions or health comments. Eight hundred

Well, is this proof that the mystery of intelligence is set the day we're born? Well. Identical twins separated at birth grew up to have almost identical IQs, A fascinating, mysterious study

reveals. The research were led by doctor Nancy Siegel, an expert in psychology from the University of California considered one of the world's leading experts on twins. Examined the intelligence scores of fifteen pairs of identical twins adopted by different families. Fourteen pairs of the twins were female, due to Chinese culture traditionally favoring male children, a bias which led to female children, including twins, being abandoned

by parents. During China's one Child policy, which ran from nineteen eighty to twenty sixteen, these genetically identical twins were separated and raised in different environments and sometimes even in different countries. This provided scientists with the rare opportunity to test if nature or nurture was the most important factor for IQ. The twins underwent IQ test twice, once when they were on average of eleven years old, and then again after some years had passed, when they had an average of

eight average age of fourteen. Comparing the results between the twins pairs over time, the researcherscovered their scores were nearly identical nearly identical, which was very strange. Including in their study. The author said, the results suggest that twins can be expected to achieve similar results on school tests, whereas unrelated siblings can

be expected to achieve different outcomes. So as genetic factors kick in, the environmental drops out, so they become more alike over time, which is an interesting observation and somewhat mysterious when you look at the grand picture of it. And that's why it qualified as the Health Mystery of the week. All Right, we've run out of time, and I wish you a healthy day and a healthy week.
