We're going to begin this hour with a discussion about a common late night habit that may shorten your life by decades. And I used to be

involved in this habit. I used to be heavily involved in just kind of chilling out on the on the couch or in the lazy chair there and sitting back and after a long day of work and just kind of like falling asleep while I was watching a Netflix or something else. This went on in my

early early years, and it was just normal. Everybody did it, right, Well, some sixty percent of Americans have done it at least once, according to recent polls, and around eighty percent of us are at a high risk of this behavior, and that is falling asleep in front of the boob tube television TV. It's easily done, and especially if you're hooked on one of your favorite Netflix series or something that you look forward to watching at night,

but it may be doing more damage than you realize. It seems kind of simple and innocuous and benign, but it can damage you more than you will understand. At least after this she'll understand it. It could even shorten your lifespan to do so. A study of five hundred people found that those who slept with even the smallest amount of ambient lighting in the room were more likely to suffer from diabetes, obesity, and hypertension, some of the nation's

biggest killers. People that slept with dim lighting, such as close to a TV or even a smartphone had higher levels of insulin resistance the next morning. This impacted people and their ability to regulate glucose. And that's the last thing you want to do, is have some type of glucose regulation disruption or dysregulation. Unstable and irregular blood glucose has been lent to a higher risk of type two diabetes. And the differences in obesity and diabetes and the participants was staggering.

And you know, once in a while, I don't think it's any big deal. But what people unfortunately become used to is having lights on as in a TV usually, or some type of light shining in the same room while they're trying to sleep, or having some noise in the room. And

I talked about this in the first hour of the show today. How important it is to not do this, and we're learning more about this all the time, and how deleterious this is to our overall health to not have complete darkness in the bedroom, complete silence, and the right temperature in the room. Your health will be a whole lot better off by switching off all of the screens and all of the devices before going to sleep, and not just

like five minutes. If you're using your cell phone or your smartphone and your text messaging, or you're surfing on the internet while you're watching your favorite television show, you're getting blasted with lots of blu rays, which is basically what it's doing is it's stimulating your brain to tell it to stay awake. It's

not allowing your melatonin to kick in. That's what darkness is about. That's why we sleep while it's darker, at least we should be so if you're imparting light into your eyes, particular ularly blue wave linked light coming out of cell phones and smartphones and to a lesser extent, televisions, because usually we're far enough away from those, but those cell phones are right up at our arm's length and those are shining into the eye, hitting the retina and hitting

parts of our brain that are basically going against our physiology to rest and go to sleep when the sun goes down. So try to make that lifestyle change to give yourself the best chance for a long and happy, healthy life. That's the message the takeaway here now. Doctor Guy Meadows, a clinical director

of the Sleep School in London. He also previously echoed this advice. He said, and I quote, we're designed to sleep in the dark, and when the sun comes up, the light receptors in the retina at the back of the eye tell us it's time to wake up by inhibiting the release of melatonin, the hormone that makes us sleepy. So what you're doing when you're having light shunt in your eyes at night is you're basically your body's trying to put the brake on so that you sleep, so things shut down so you

can recover and heal and rest. And what you're doing by having light hit your eyes by watching television or falling asleep with television on, or prior to maybe a few hours prior to that, you're still using your cell phone as you're basically hitting the gas pedal on staying awake, and this over time has a very deleterious effect on your health. So the better way to regulate sleep is to get away from those habits. And I know we've all done it

to some extent. Any light whatsoever, I don't care. It's a little light shining into the window of your bedroom. It can absolutely your brain picks up on that light and it is trying to arouse the brain. It's still

time to stay up. So bedrooms need to be absolutely so pitch dark you cannot see your hand, and that includes led if you've got a clock in there that's green, or you have something a computer across the room that you can see that's red, or any kind of light that can absolutely just shrupt your sleep hormones and lead you to becoming sleep deprived, whether you know it or not, which triggers all kinds of health related issues, from physical problems

to emotional and mental problems. And tiredness dampens down the effect of the area of the brain called the prefernal cortex in the brain, which is responsible for more rational thought and causes us to use the part of the brain responsible for emotion called the amygdala, which is bringing back some memories of neuroanatomy here. But this is the more primitive emotional regulator in the brain, which exacerbates emotions.

So we wonder why some people are angry, or they're overly aggressive, or they are sad, or they have you know, low moods, or they're blue. It could be related to the stimulus that they're getting. This, according to a study at Ohio State University found in the animal model that that's what's happening. If you expose people to these lights, it can mess

them over physically and emotionally and psychologically. So the takeaway is, get the lights out, get the sound out, get it dark, get the temperature right, snooze down. We'll be right back. to put yourself under that stress? And I know that you know weight gain is not good either, and all the stress associate with that. But the drug, if your body's responding to that in the manner that you're describing, taking the drug is not going, you know, is not going to solve the problem. And if you're looking for ways to bypass that, yeah, there are things that you could be doing to offset that by increasing your

water, maybe exercising more, maybe taking some probiotics. Jeez, but you can't overcome the drug because that drug is paralyzing your gastrointestinal track, your peristalsis, and your body is talking back to you in the form of constipating you. So, uh, I don't know if the answer is you know, you keep doing that, encounter it with something else for the goal of losing

the weight and sort of like having your cake and eating it too. None of it makes any sense to me when I see the continuation of the adverse side effects of these drugs. I asked the question is it worth it? Is there any other way that you could go about doing this? And I know we all want fast, quick, easy stuff, but at what risk? And if you think the risk is there, it's your choice. Number one health concern as we move toward and beyond the age of retirement is fear

It is now time, ladies and gentlemen for this week's installment of the health Outrage of the Week. I don't believe it. Come on each to for the hell outbreak because it's not brother,

it is outrighteous. And I will tell you from the outset that I'm a parent of six children who were all breastfed, uh and most of them were breastfed for at least a year. Well. The Academy of Pediatrics condemns natural breastfeeding, calling it ethically problematic. In a recent announcement, the American Academy of Pediatrics criticized leading medical and public health organizations for recommending that mothers exclusively breastfeed

their babies for at least six months. This based on scientific evidence of breast milk being the healthiest food for babies to grow and develop. Now, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, recent data challenges the extent of these benefits, the suggestion being that there are other, perhaps better ways to feed baby

without breast milk. And this is where the health outrage begins. When you have a group like the American Academy of Pediatrics, bought and paid for by Big pharma, paying for this data, attempting to convince the public that artificial means for breastfeeding newborns is universally superior to natural breastfeeding. Now, there are some others who cannot breastfeed. I understand that, and you make provisions for that. But to state or to vocalize that they don't believe that natural breastfeeding

is superior to artificial breastfeeding is outrageous on its face. The American Academy of Pediatrics insists that promoting breastfeeding is stigmatized their words, it's members claiming that they are concerned about breastfeeding promotion that praises breastfeeding, as in their quotes natural way to feed infants. They hate the word natural anything because that gives the power to the people to take away from that dependence upon pediatricians. Now, pediatricians

do a great job. They save lives of children, and they certainly aid a lot of young parents when these children are in trouble. They have health concerns. But this is just going way too far and way beyond the pale to try to dissuade young mothers from exclusively breastfeeding. The American Academy of Pediatrics fears that promoting breastfeeding as natural may be ethically problematic and even more troubling,

it may bolster this belief that natural approaches are presumptively healthier. Now, this may ultimately challenge public Health Health's aim in other contexts, particularly childhood vaccines. And that's where they are fearing it, folks. They just don't want people to become self sufficient. They do not want young parents to be so educated to learn that breast milk is God's milk to human beings that they believe in their minds, or they love to believe or teach people that God made a

mistake by not putting similac in a breast of a mother. And there it is, the American Academy of Pediatrics fearing losing their grip on controlling how parents choose to feed their babies, and whether they choose to authorize eighty four different shots or vaccines by the time the offspring turns eighteen years of age. Eighty four different vaccines. Folks, When I was growing up, there may have been like three or four vaccines that were recommended. I think it was tetanus

and polio or something. Now we have eighty four, and you think to yourself, well, more's better, right, more vaccines better protection. Well, guess what. We don't have the statistics to show that more vaccines mean

healthier children. In fact, just the opposite is true. The more vaccines, the sicker kids are, the more asthma, the more allergies, the more skin problems, you name it, And it doesn't if you look at the mortality and morbidity records and compare the United States to other countries, we suck really mad there. Even though we're a superpower, we have all the money and finances we need to make a superior health care system, we don't

have it. The amount of vaccines given to children has quadrupled plus in a few decades. In childhood's sickness and death has worsened. Go figure, once a critical mass of the population figures out that breast milk and other living foods are the real preventions and cures for life's ailments. Big Pharma will lose its cash cow, and we can't have that if Wall Street expects to keep reaching all time highs. Right, and when a mother breastfeeds her child, she

passes on what is called her adaptive immune system to her babies. This is what you might call nature's pharmacy, and for all the intense and purposes it is free, as opposed to the medicine dispense by the pharmaceutical and vaccine industries, which, with the blessing of the Food and Drug administration centers such disease and control and quasi prevention, all of the antibodies that the mother has accumulated through her life by getting ill herself on earth is a gift to her baby

Conversely, neither enhances pharmaceutical profits or the social control of

the state. And that's where this becomes outrageous. It is that last little bit about childhood vaccinations that cuts to the heart part of the American Academy of Pediatrics where they're really concerned about underneath all of that prenatal moral outrage, and that is mothers getting their children vaccinated because the breast milk is doing all the vaccinating naturally, and they know it, and they don't want that, and that's what they fear, and that's why it qualified as the health outrage of
