If we view God as codependent, we see Him as the Giver who should be concerned with providing everything for us and us as the Taker. When God asks us to surrender something or obey Him it becomes difficult because the flow of benefit all of a sudden isn't towards us. We often ask the question "Is what He's calling me to do really for what's best for me and putting my needs first?"
