Double Reel Film Podcast

The Adamsonsjames3zy.podbean.com
The monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd. James Adamson is a slightly obsessive armchair fan, giving you his take on the world of cinema. So are his co hosts: James Adamson, his imaginatively named son, and Alan Bayles, a sci fi author, fellow film nerd and fellow Sunderland fan. As well as a look at news, new releases and how we’re fitting in movie watching with our busy exciting lives, we look into classic films we haven't seen yet and overlooked hidden gems you need to see, ask remakes to justify their existence or be wiped from history and offer parole hearings to bad films that need to be remade to fix their flaws.

38.3 The Big Conversation: The Golden Age of Animation (And Why It’s Over)

Episode 38 of the monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd concludes with our Big Conversation. In keeping this this issue's theme of animated films we look at the Golden Age of Animation. This phrase used to be applied to the early Disney Classics from Snow White to the Jungle Book, but we're here to argue that the Golden Age of Animation started with the Little Mermaid in 1989 - or with Toy Story in 1995. James and James aren't 100% agreed on that. But they are agreed that the new...
