Talking criminals proved much more compelling than talking babies and dogs - and rightly so. This movie did a lot. It changed the face of independent cinema, it gave Samuel L Jackson the platform he needed to become Samuel L Jackson, and inspired wannabe film students and Tarantino-copycats from around the world.
