Episode description

This episode existed somewhere between a lengthy work marathon, an Aquaman showing and was 3 fueled by coffee and Reese's Pieces.

Splish splash, it's Aquaman time. Which is the kind of catchphrase that kept him from getting cool all those years. I can't say how much of a relief it is for this movie to not have sucked. I mean, I loved it, but that was probably going to happen anyway. I'm just glad critically (and not just in China) it's being loved. Aquaman gives us the Geoff Johns New 52 run but with some really great additions. It takes characters seriously that could have been jokey, and it has surprisingly tight fight scenes right off the bat

AquaDrago is back in full force, and despite playing the same character as always, Jason makes it work. Set aside your worries that he'll be "woohoo-ing" out of airplanes the whole film. Momoa's Aquaman is a fine mix of lighthearted jokes and swagger (so, the Thor recipe pretty much). The cast of the movie are fantastic, the art style and effects are great and super pleasing. And the big one for me actually was the spatial awareness the movie gave the audience. Despite being underwater and often capturing huge moments of battle or wonder, the movie never allows the viewer to be lost in the chaos, and always seems to provide grounding shots to give context to where action is happening and the scale of it. Also check out the shared universe that the DCU and the Conjuring now exist in. I'd like to think that John Constantine will be showing up in later Conjuring movies to teach the Warrens how to banish daemons and such.

Everything else is in there folks, give it a listen and let me know what you think!
