Hope you're well on this Monday night, the homestead continues for your Los Angeles Dodgers, who are fifty nine and forty one on this season, first place atop the nl West, an eight game lead in the division. After a three game sweep over the weekend, the Dodgers looked to keep the winning going after beating Boston. Now
the San Francisco Giants come to town for a four game series. River Ryan, Dodger, pitching prospect called up from the minor leagues, makes his major league debut to night. First pitch from Dodger Stadium is coming up at seven to ten. Between then and now, we got a lot to get to here on Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck. You are gonna hear from the manager, Dave Roberts. You are gonna hear from former Dodger Andre Eh Here,
we're gonna preview this pitching matchup for you. We've also got a Dodgers magical moment. Shortly, we'll check out Kirsten Watson from sports and at LA and in just a few minutes we'll head out to the Gaalpin Motors broadcast booth and here from Steven Nelson and Jose Modal. Yesterday at the Ravine, Pas didn't prove to give the Dodgers some length in his final outing while the Dodgers played
home run derby against the Red Sox. Pitching Yeah, James Paxson DFA today by the Dodgers yesterday and what will be his final start in a Dodger uniform. Five innings, three runs, four hits, seven strikeouts, walked four. He gave up a two run of home run to Jared Duran in the first inning through twenty six pitches. Didn't look like he'd be out there long in the first after giving up a two to nothing lead, but the Dodgers chipped away Freddie Freeman his solo home run at the bottom of the first.
Gavin Luxon followed up with an RBI double as the Dodgers tied it up at two. Then in the third, the Dodgers took the lead thanks to the home run derby Champ Taskernendez. Two ball, two strike pitch too, Tasker swings it's a high fly ball to right toward the corner. It's deep,
it is heading back, it has gone a home run. Tayoscar Hernandez gives the Dodgers a three to two lead with his twentieth home run of a caesar and opposite field blast over the short wall in the right field corner and ta Oscars, the home run derby champion gets his first home run since he won the titles. To ask Hernandez with the solo shot. Dodgers a three to
two lead in the third and they were just getting started. That was the second home run for the Dodgers. The third came in the fourth inning from Gavin and Locks's solo home run. Dodgers afforded two. Then in the fifth, Austin Barnes a solo home run to give the Dodgers a five to two lead. That was the fourth home run for the Dodgers. Later in the fifth, Showy o'tani with an absolute bomb to one is hammered deep right center field, way out of here, and o'tani joins the home party. A
thirty home run season for Shaw hel Tonys. Oh, how do you like that? An absolute no doubter crushed to the top of the pavilion and deep right center field, four one hundred and seventy three feet, just past the DISO sign in right center field, underneath the awning and out into the center field plaza. One of the farthest home runs ever hit at Dodgers Stadium. That one four hundred and seventy three feet in the fifth homer of the day
for the Dodgers as they grabbed a six to two lead. They'd score more runs in the eighth Cavin b Show and Harbi single Chason Hayward getting into the home run fun a two run shot that gave the Dodgers a ninety three lead. They hit six home runs in the game. They had ten hits as a team. Six of the Dodgers hits or home runs. As the Dodgers go on and beat the Boston Red Sox nine to six yesterday, James Paxson gets the win. He's eight and two and then against DFA earlier today.
To make room for River Ryan, Daniel Hudson came in and got the save after having Phillips struggled to get one out. He gave up three runs in the ninth inny More on that coming up, Daniel Hudson cleaned up the mess. He gets the save as the Dodgers get the final win against Boston and they get the three games sweep over the Red Soxes are now fifty nine and
forty one overall. The Dodgers a three game lead, or make that an eight game lead in the division as they are cruising right now post All Star Break and those home runs all brought to you by Arco Quality, top tier gas for less. Dodgers look to keep the foot on the gas tonight as
they welcome the San Francisco Giants to town for a four game set. River Ryan makes his Major league debut first pitch at seven to ten, and with more we head out to the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth as we welcome in Steven Nelson, Jose Mota, guys, thank you, Tim Beck edit a Dodgers stadium, a four game series on tap against the rival Giants, trying to get some payback for what happened at the end of June there at oor Park
with the Dodgers dropping two of three, but hose modup. Great to be with you, my friend, and great to be with you on the heels of a Dodger sweep. We have seen this club kind of struggle to finish off series, sweep the legs, so to speak, and sweep a team out here. They did that against Boston, who went into the break as the best team in baseball. They did, Stephen, And by the way,
good to see you with my friend nice. You know, one thing that I noticed, it really caught my eye right away, was okay, coming out of the break, how are the starting pitchers going to do right? And then he saw the youngster step up. You know that you didn't have glass now and you saw the veterans step up. But I think that was very encouraging. There's no doubt Stephen, as the season goes along that as your starting pitching goes, so goes the team. But but the offense
needed to step up. And actually they got off to a very slow and silent start against the Boston Red Sox, and then they just caught fire at the right moment. They caught fire, and I think it's it's important to see that. It's great to see the power come out. But I go back to starting pitching giving you a chance, because dat alignes the bullpen a little bit better, and certainly the role are more defined, and that's always
good for the guys coming out of that panta. On that note, starting pitching, you know, James Paxton, his turn yesterday gave the Dodgers a first win from a starting pitcher since Gavin Stone's complete game shout out way back. It seems like forever ago on June twenty sixth, on the South side of Chicago, seventeen consecutive starts without a starter getting a win. Paxson gets it, and then the very next day, this afternoon, he gets designated
for assignment. That's the business of basement that we're living in right now. And James Paxson, a guy that, as Dave Roberts just said a few minutes ago, took it the right way. He understands very quickly what this is all about. He came out and gave the Dodgers everything they wanted. He still when I'm beating here in this ballpark going forward with a class guy like that, we wish him the very best. Yeah, packs an absolute pro. He got a phone call from both Brandon Gomes and Dave Roberts and
handled it as the veteran professional that he is. And what this does signal what it should signal to Dodger fans who were scratching their heads at that move, is that there are guys coming back. Tyler last Now we'll be back this week. Clayton Kershaw will make his season debut. Walker Buehler is here at Dodger Stadium. He will soon begin a re rehab assignment. Bobby Miller's rehab assignment in Oklahoma City. It got off to a good start. Bruce
Darcgraderal, Brian Brazier. All of these guys are getting healthier, which means tough roster decisions have to be made. And who knows that the trade deadline, oh what is it? Nine days away? Who knows if James Paxson is somebody who can help and give the organization something in return in addition to all the starts that he gave throughout the first half and change. All right, TC, we're gonna step aside for a little breathing. When we come
back, we're gonna talk about the big debut. We're gonna see a Dodger Stadium tonight, that of River Rhyan. All right, thank you, Nelly, as we got you down the first pitch. Dodger fans, get your game day meal on. It's Shaky's Pizza Parlor. Order your Shaky's Pizza, Chicken and Mojo's right now at Shaky's dot com. Coming up here on Dodgers on Deck, you will hear from the Dodger manager Dave Roberts. You will hear from former Dodger Andre Ethh. Here we'll break down this pitching matchup with
River Ryan make his major league debut. Up next, you're Otani rewind An. We'll hear from Kirsten Watson from Sports and NLA. She'll join us for leading out to first pitch on this Monday night Dodgers and Giants, first pitch at seven ten. Thanks for being with us. I'm Tim Kason's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network is Lorono Casino, Dodgers on the Dodgers on Deck, y'all on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball. It's the Dodgers and the Giants
start of a four game set. As the seven game homestead continues for the Dodgers, River Ryan and Blake Snell. The pitching matchup tonight in the series opener, first pitch at seven ten. This is the Otani rewind to one is Hammered day Bright center Field. Way out of here, and Otani joins the home run party, a thirty home run season for Shaw Hey Otani's Oh,
how do you like that? An absolute no doubter crushed to the top of the pavilion and deep right center field four one hundred and seventy three feet a monster shot from show Hey Otani, who hits the home run is thirtieth of the year four hundred and seventy three feet RBI number seventy on this season for Otani, who's now a batting three point fifteen on this season on base percentage over four hundred and slugging at a six thirty eight percentage. It is
unbelievable what he is doing. The Otani Rewind brought to you by Eto and Oyocha, Japan's number one green tea and the tea that showey Otani loves and drinks available to local Diso stores. Hey Kirson now joins this before the opener of this San Francisco series the first
of four against the Giant. A river runs through Dodger Stadium. Tonight's River Ryan gets to start in his major league debut, Kirston, he sure does. And first let me say, River Ryan is such a great name, like that just feels like starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. River Ryan just so strong. Anyway, he is someone he's making, as you mentioned, making his major league debut today, Dave Roberts is, he's excited for
it. This is someone who's shown a lot of really positive things this year, only a handful of starts because he did deal with some injury to start the year, a little bit of shoulder fatigue. But you know, he's really strong right now. He's healthy. The pitching, the coaches, this
organization, they've been really impressed with what they've been seeing from him. A lot of high velocity throws, some hard stuff, and so Dave said, it's going to be important just to see how he works with the catcher today they kind of get him in a good spot and manage this one against the
Giants. But they're excited for him, and honestly, this is someone they've had their eyes on for a little bit because even if we go back to win, Bobby Miller was optioned to Triple A. When we were talking to Dave Roberts briefly, he was just saying, you know, this is someone they had their eyes on, but at that time he had just pitched and they didn't really know what was happening with Bobby just yet. So you know
the fact that now River is getting this opportunity is really exciting. His family, of course, is here, so it'll be a really special day for him, no doubt about it. He gets to start, that means somebody has to go out, and that was James Paxson dfaid. Yeah, and that was a tough one. James has obviously been a really he's been a steady arm in the rotation for the team this year, and yes there were some ups and downs with the walks and things like that, but he was
he would find ways to execute when the time would come. And so Dave was saying, you know, that was definitely a tough conversation, and he's a veteran, so obviously he handled it as such. And so we'll kind of see what happens next, but at this moment he has been dfaide and so they'll kind of see if that can maybe turn into a trade or what
that means. But for for now, it's they feel really good with the arms that they have, not only currently in the rotation with some of these young ones, whether it's Landon Nak, Justin Roglisky and now River Ryan, but also there are a lot of arms coming back. Clayton Kershaw is going to pitch in this series, and you've got Glass now Tyler Glasnow's returning from
his injury and it's going to pitch in this series. So they do feel very good just to where things are at with the news of James Packs and being Dfane. We'll see what River Ryan can do tonight. Certainly exciting night for him. Kirsten, We appreciate it. We'll check in with you after the game. But up next, we'll get you an injury report and we get the pregame thoughts its Dodgers manager Dave Roberts leading up to Dodgers and Giants on this Monday night. River Ryan makes his major league debut first pitch at seven ten. I'm Tim Katsi's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

Mookie bets on the iel at the fractured left hand. He is starting to do a little bit more activities as far as the wrist and hand. His concern. Yoshanovayamamoto on the iel to strain rotator cuff. Walker Buehler is back with the Dodgers team and throwing. He's on the iel.
The sword hit. Michael Grove went on a minor league reab assignmoned yesterday at Oka See along with Bruce dar Gratoroal and Ryan Brazier. All right, let's head back out to Dodger Stadium and get the pregame thought to the Dodgers giver questions for Dave Dave? Can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with Dave Roberts River. This is something that is really exciting for us. We got him by way of trade a few
years ago. Position player, shortstop, very athletic. It was a two way guy, and you know now he's kind of really shot through our system as a pitcher. It's big stuff. It's a high velocity fastball. There's a curb bow, there's a slider, a change up in there, and a very confident young man. He's gonna attack guys, and so it's kind of how we sequence, you know, put down the right fingers and keep those guys off balance. It's a team that hasn't seen him, he hasn't
seen them, So just go out there and just try to execute. Just manage his emotions. I had a good conversation with him earlier and there's going to be some adrenaline, so I'm expecting him to manage those emotions once the game gets going. Figuring sort of this year Lars huge to seal the comer he's training over here. Well, One, we feel he's healthy. The build up has been good. What that looks like in a major league game
is to be determined given pitches in a particular inning, the stress. But he's built up fine to pitch obviously in a major league game, and I'm excited to see what he's got. But first and foremost, we feel he's healthy and he can handle it, you know, as far as the mature Dan, he's ready. Everybody excited for River Ryan. I'm Tim Kasi's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio nowhere. This is Marongo Casino, Dodgers on Deck on your home for the Blue all season Law, Dodgers
and Giants, River Ryan and Blake Snell. The pitching match out first pitch coming up at seventeen. Joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on Deck. I accept everybody for who they are. This is Dodger insider David Basse. All right, d V, you're the perfect person to explain this. Jane Paxston's DFA, Why today? Why was that important? Well, there are a few reasons to the Dodgers letting James Paxton be placed on waivers today. Number one, they needed a forty man roster spot to free up to have River Ryan
make his major league debut. Number two, the Dodgers are going to bring up some relievers because Clayton Kershaw is going to be limited on Thursday. Tyler Glass now hasn't pitched in nearly a month on Wednesday Night, so that's another part of this. Also, the Dodgers are going to get back Bobby Miller and Walker Bueller here in the near future, and they have seen Justin Robleski Landon Nak hold it down pretty well as as time has gone on here.
So James Paxton was kind of the odd man out, and it feels like the Dodgers going into this season just needed Paxton to give them innings for the first half of the season and always thought that he might be included in a trade, which is just eight days away as far as the trade deadline goes. So all of that was part of the timing of today. And also keep in mind it didn't look like James Paxton was going to be part of
the Dodgers playoff picture as far as being on the postseason roster. So that is the multi layer reasons that I was told by Andrew Freeman on why the Dodgers decided to DFA James Paxton today, David is driven by four. There's one thing we like, it's choices find yours with the four and f one to fifty they got gas hybrid or the all electric tough This mark can only be called f one fifty. All right, David, what's going on with Evan Phillips. Well, you know, Jose Mota and I talked about it
on Dodger Talk last night. It doesn't feel like this is a complete, irreparable situation as far as him getting back on track. It just feels like he's relied on that sweeper slider pitch that really got him to become this reliable late inning reliever for the Dodgers, but it just hasn't been there the last three weeks, and he has gotten hurt because he can't land it for a strike, he can't make it look like a strike, and he's not using
his fastball. His fastball's fine ninety six miles an hour. He's got to establish fastball command before he starts to go to the sweeper, and maybe that also will bring back his confidence, because we are not seeing a very confident Evan Phillips on the mound. Tave real quick. The Dodger's gonna honor Willie Mays. Yeah, obviously we lost one of the greatest, if not the greatest player a few weeks ago, and Willie Mays and the Dodgers certainly had
a lot of battles. And this is the first Dodger Giants game since Willie May has passed away here in Los Angeles, and Willie May's his son, Michael, is here in attendance, and right before first pitch, the Dodgers are going to honor the great Willie Mays, who, by the way, Tim played ninety games at Dodgers Stadium in his career at two sixty six and had eleven home runs playing for the San Francisco Giants and at the end of his career the New York Mets. How about that? Did not know that?
Great information? Dave. We'll check back with you in just a little bit. Coming up here on Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll hear more from David Veast. And now joined by David Bassey, here's La Dodgers broadcaster and World Series champion Dodger
Rick Monday. Rick Monday will rejoin us in Houston after the Dodgers close out this homestand against the San Francisco Giants. And what an eventful series this is starting tonight Jose Moda with River Ryan making his major league debut. Don't you love that? Just to see debut next to a young player's name, Big expectations, big arm. I mean, I'll talk to his scout today.
He goes he's a big arm, heavy fastball. Hopefully the Jitners won't get to him because sometimes there could be a little friends around the around the zone. But boy, I mean, you cannot expect or see something better than Dodger Stadium, Pact Giants Mecair debut. It should be exciting whenever it's Dodgers Giants. It's electric here at Dodgers Stadium. What are some of your fondest
memories of this rivalry? Tommy Lasorda yelling at the other dugout, Charlie Metro in the fights, Yeah, Reggie Smith and Pedro Guerrero and all those things that went along. And obviously on top of all of that is a young Barry Bonds who used to wait for my dad for my dad was a coach for the Dodgers to get to San Francisco, because he would look for my
dad to bring him into the Dodger Clubhouse to meet the players. Really, Barry Bonds as a kid, Ye, as a kid, he waited for Papa Mota to take him into the Dary Clubhouse to meet all the stars. And something I'll always remember too, obviously, when I was in the clubhouse as a youngster too, I got to feel a different feel for the rivalry from like Dusty and Jaeger in Garvey and Say and it was like it was not fun to hear them talk about the Giants. Man it was like,
Wow, it's that series. They took that series. Man. Let me tell you that when the lost with the Giants, it was a big deal. Tommy was not happy at all. Yeah, it was not another series against let's say the Montreal expos No, and then on top of the painful ones, Joe Morgan against Terry Force. Yeah, oh my god. You know, I asked Rick Monday where where he was. He said, I had a great view. It went right over my hands. He's right,
he's right. But over the years, it has been great to see the fans get together and obviously, you know the respect that that's both teams have shown in their championships and the history back in New York head translator quite nicely here to the West Coast show. Hey Otani has gotten his first taste of Dodgers Giants being a part of it for the first time this year. It feels like people are still buzzing over the home run that he hit yesterday in
the fifth inning. I mean, who wouldn't be considering that we're all finding out like where did the ball land? And I heard all your questions to by the way, good job asking people, where were you right shoulder? Let show it so exactly where were you? And the ball kept rolling into the plaza. But it feels like they had no idea the ball was just it was hit too hard. Yeah, exactly. But I think for Shohey too, I remember the one he hit in San Francisco, oh close to
the cod. It's one that I know he's gonna remember for a long time. Jose Mode is joining us just in front of first pitch between the Dodgers and Giants. He'll be on the call tonight with Steven Nelson. Jose Miguel Rojas not in the Dodgers starting lineup after leaving yesterday's game with right forearm tightness. How much concern should there be? I'm not too concerned about that. Mickey has expressional effect that with no image in being taken, that is to
me like a big relief, just something that tightened up. Play it safe, and Miggie was telling me, I want to make sure that I don't get this worse, because when he throws out, he's putting a lot into his arm from the short stop. Even when he makes, you know, throws like from on second base, he's got to put some zip on it. And I think smartiny enough knowing that there's still some games left. There's nothing to rush right now just to get himself right. But MIGGI is a
guy who's gonna take grace one thing something he comes back. I'm not worried about it at all. You know, yesterday before the game, we talked about the Dodgers not being satisfied with just winning the series. Do you feel like this can turn into a long winning streak. I feel it because now you have pitching going on that perhaps you were not expecting to come out of
the gates like this after the All Star break. I mean, it was painful to see what happened leading into the break, but now you have that momentum that one's gonna carry tonight from the youngster, hopefully we'll see the same thing. Just keep you in the game because the offense is rolling right now.
He wants to see the continuity and that impulse and the momentum carry over because the ambassa are getting better and their hands are full tonight, we know against Blake Smell, but nonetheless the feed worm down a little bit more. If you take the Trek schoobl type of mentality, go out there and know that you get the up booping and beat him. All right, Jose, We'll check in with you a little bit later. Jose. On the call tonight with Steven Nelson. The stars are out, Brad Paisley, William Shatner,
Andre Ethier all in the house tonight for Dodgers Giants. We'll send it back to you in the studio. Tim, all right, Thanks long, Davin. David and now what will likely be vast fielding insults from a Dodger player. It's an engagement of endearment. This this high and tight. Well, it's a great day at Dodgers Stadium, Dodger Royalty back here and surprisingly not against
the San Francisco Giants. Where's Mattcain when he wants them? That's the one and only. Andre Ethier. Thanks a lot for the time and great to see your whole family out here. Yeah, appreciate it. No fitting game for our first game of the twenty four season, then a Dodger Giants game. So found our way up here from and hanging down in the South coast Laguna area, and found our way up here today for this, uh you know, first game of the series. Dude, Does Dodgers Giants still get
you going the way it used to when you played? Uh? Yeah, I think it does. I think it. Ebbs and flows right, like they obviously are having a little bit of a down year and and I guess at downtime last couple of years, and I guess the the you know, the intestinas rubs off a little bit more, especially when you know this team's playing so well coming into it for uh, you know, multiple seasons,
multiple years in a row against them. But it still means a lot, obviously, you know, for the both cities, both fan bases, and it's uh, you know, exciting to see. Like you said, he brings up old memories. We're just talking about, uh, Tim Linzacome and those guys with a couple buddies of mine the last couple of weeks, about how good of pitchers those guys were and those teams those Giants have, and you know, there's a lot of history between these two ball clubs. Whenever
I think Dodgers giants, Andre Ethier and Matt Caain come to mind. You know that you did pretty well against Kane when you guys faced off. What is it about certain pictures and especially on teams that are wearing that orange and black. Yeah, I don't know, that's a weird thing, right, You can face a guy and I think I forgot the guy who was the either these are either Marquis or someone else who I felt like I struggled really badly against. But then there's guys like li'sa come, I hit well,
you know, guys who were dominant pictures. I hit well. And you see a guy like Matt Cain and for some reason, it was just that one person. It didn't matter what he threw, you were able to get
hits off. And I told him, I said, I think it was like towards the end of our career when I had, you know, all these at bats, sixty seventy at bats against them, and you know everyone had been making a big thing about it, you know about us face and you get each other for maybe what might be the last time ever, you know, after all these years. And I remember one of that bats in that game. He threw a really good cutter in off my fists. I
hit it, jam shot. It barely landed over his head in the endfield grass between second and the pitcher for a base hit. And I you know, that pretty sums up that pretty much sums up that whole uh you know, matchup all those years. I was gonna get a hit no matter what he threw in the quality of pitch, it was gonna work out to be a hit for me. And I remember just shaking his head at me and laughing, because, uh, you know, it doesn't matter off the barrel,
off the face, I'll still getting hits off of him. You're a great student of the game. You know the history of the game, and certainly you played your entire major league career wearing a Dodger uniform. When did you start to realize how serious it was as far as a rivalry between the Dodgers and Giants. It's day one day that first time you go up there
the first time. You know, I didn't know anything about it. You didn't understand the intensity of it. First time you probably go in there as a player, you're just like, wow, you know, these fans really do not like the Dodgers. They really do not the Dodger players. And we know some of the fun uh you know, shenanigans that were going on in the stadiums, you know, with the fans and interactions with him when those series were going on. So yeah, I learned from day one that
it means a little bit more. It doesn't matter whether it's April or whether it's September and both teams are out of the playoffs, it still means a lot andre ethier before you go and spend more time with the family. Yesterday Show, Heo Tani hit a home run four hundred and seventy three feet to the top of the left field pavilion. Have you ever seen a lefty hit it that far? No, And I tried. I tried many times the
batting practice, many times in the game. I think the batting practice as closest I ever got was probably where that starluck sign is, and I probably hit the starluck sign. I don't know what was there at the time, but it would probably hit right around there. But I mean, you know, we're standing here looking and that's a whole nother two signs, so probably what one one hundred and twenty feet farther to the center, which I don't know what that adds on to it. And to do it in a game
off a pitcher, it's pretty impressive. And yeah, I mean everything he does is uh, you don't you like? Is this it? And then he does something else every time, And I think that's that's what the most impressive thing about show is And he's gonna come back and pitch. You always heard that question. Let's just be happy. Let's be happy for what we're seeing right now, just on the offensive side, because it's pretty unbelievable. And you just don't think he could come back and and and keep up the
pace or do anything, you know, do the way he's doing. And he just keeps finding a way to do it. And uh, it's it's hard not to admire it from a uh, you know, from a former player side. And I know fans are in awe when every time they ask me, that's one of the first things fans ask me is you know, what do you think about Showy? And I I tell him I'm just as in a as you guys are. And uh, it's impressive to see. And I can't believe this team gets to have him, that you know this
long they're gonna get to have him. It's awesome to hear that from a former player that spent his entire career at Dodger Stadium in a big way to be just as much in awe of Otani as we are love having you back here. You got that summer glow tan to just like you did when you played out here. Now, you enjoy the family. You look relaxed. The kids say that they're keeping you under control at home, so that's a
good thing. Yeah, I'm not afraid of the sun like you. I went zero SPF for the last four days, so I'm not afraid to go zero SPF on this sun here. So I soaked it up, drew every last way I could into southern California sun of my time at least right now, and look forward to being back here at the stadium for the second half. There he is forever Dodger Andre Ethier. We'll send it back to you in the studio. Tim, all right, thanks a lot of guys.

today, They make it easy. Blake Snell, thirty one year old leftander ninth season in the Big Leagues. The Ragning Cy Young Award winner signed a two year deal with the Giants in late spring, making his ninth start. He's been nearly untouchable since his return from a left groin injury. Over two starts, he's allowed just two hits and struck out eleven and twelve shutout innings against the Twins and the Blue Jays. Opponents are hitting under one hundred against
his curveball with nineteen strikeouts this year. He is two and two at the two to fifty nine ERA in his thirteen career starts against the Dodgers, River Ryan makes his major league debut for the Blue. Twenty five year old right eleventh round picking the Padres in twenty twenty one. Traded at the Dodgers before spring training in twenty twenty two and the Matt Beaty deal Dodgers made him a pitcher only he was a two way player. Pitched an A ball in twenty
twenty two, double A and triple A last year. Slow played during spring training this year. He has made only twenty four and a half innings pitched at all levels that he's been in this twenty twenty four seasons, so he is good to go. Last pitch last week in Arizona in a rookie ball game, River Ryan Blake Snell Dodgers Giants for fifteen minutes away from first pitch. Keys to the game. Our next I'm cases Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network.

You have Blake Snell, the reigning Cy Young Award winner who has seemed to have found his form of late for the Giants. We'll get to him in a little bit. We can't bury the lead. River Ryan, one of the top prospects in the organization, get in the call. He's making his big league debut. Will you heard? The
rumors are finally here for real? Now River Ryan. I immediately a scowl that saw him. He goes think about a Tim Belcher back in this day, Tim big body, ninety five to ninety eight control with two breaking balls and I'm well. Also means that he's gonna get after people out. I think there's a report on him. Is the fact that the River Ryan, who came on a trade from the patres By the way for Matt Baby is
a guy that's going to be out there and attacking the zone. Keep in mind, now he started the season with his shoulder issue fatigue coming out of spring training, has not pitched, you know, did not pitch for a while until early June. But what everybody raided about was the fact that this guy had knows how to go out there and flood his own with all three pitches. A meteoric rise through the system. Because when you figure when the Dodgers acquired him back in March of twenty two, he was a two way
player. He'd only played twelve professional games and they were all as a hitter, no pitching for the Padres organization. The Dodgers acquirements say you're not hitting anymore, you're only a pitcher. And you jump to now two years and change later, after just refocusing his professional life onto one thing, the fact that he is here, I think that's a testament to one the stuff which
you know is there, but also to the athleticism. That is the word that you hear most often attached to River Ryan, how athletic he is exactly. So from there he just assire for well, there's not a whole lot work on that shoulder, right, so he's kind of a rusted guy for his career where he's at right now. In addition to that is the fact that in the minor leagues he has never pitched more than five innings or gone over's seventy six pitches. So keep that in mind, and hopefully today with
the jitters and everything that goes along, will make your debut. So'll be
very exciting for Dodger fans to see this. I mean, this is a pipeline man that you work for to say, here's all the pieces we have, but we're not afraid to go out there and bring the Bobby Millers and the Emmet Chuns last year and now we see obviously we're Bleuski and this young guy here tonight, River Ryan, the Dodgers' number four prospect, number two ranked pitcher according to mob Pipeline. And you talk about major league debuts for
a pitcher against the Giants, you think about Ross Stripling, you think about Emmettchian. There are some good vibes when it comes to a Dodger debut against the rival Giants. We hope River Ryan can experience those same things tonight here at Dodgers Stadium. First pitch, fast approaching, Dodgers and the Giants, Game one of four. All right, first pitch when we come back. Dodgers and Giants. Enjoy it, everybody. I'm Tim Kase's been Wrongo Casino,
