ninety nine career home runs. Dase wing drills at the right field taped to the corner. It is gone. That's number two hundred for show. Heyl Tony and the Dodgers take the league three to two. A line drive just inside the right field foul poll for Otani. Home run numbers twenty nine, number two hundred of his career show he Otani leading the way for the Dodgers with twenty nine home runs, twenty three doubles, four triples, sixty nine

runs driven in. He's hitting three sixteen on this season. He was an All Star in Arlington, so is Freddie Freeman, hitting two ninety one on the season, driving in sixty one runs. Will Smith was an All Star. Mookie Betts was an All Star but couldn't play because of the hand injury. The Dodgers also had an All Star and ta Oscar Hernandez. Hernandez drove in three of the six runs scored by the Dodgers last night. Had three hits, which was huge because he had more hits last night and the previous

Kevin Stone, who's on the Mountain Night, made seventeen starts. He's been impressive with a nine to three record. James Packson has delivered a seven to two record with a sub three ERRA. Yoshinobu Yamamoto well made fourteen starts before going to the injured Liss, and the Dodgers have had to rely on a lot of young arms,

including Michael Peterson and he bringing up Landon Neck. It's been old and new for the Dodgers, mixing and matching as far as the bullpen has been concerned, but the Dodgers persevered to the first half of the season with a six and a half game lead in the NL West. Brought to you by Arco Quality top tier gas for less. Tonight, they start a three game series to start the second half of the season against the Boston Red Sox who

are in town. Cavin Stone on the mound, first pitch at seven ten and with more we head out to Dodger Stadium in the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth as we say hello to Tim Neffert and Jose Mote. Guys, thanks very much, Tim Man, welcome back to second half. Baseball begins tonight and it is interleague style is the Boston Red Sox are at Dodger Stadium for the first of three this weekend. The Red Sox come in one of the hottest teams in baseball. Since the end of June and even since late May,

they have really, really been good. This is the best record that Boston has had since twenty twenty one, the last time they made the playoffs. They are fifty three and forty two right now third in the American League East, four and a half behind the Eastern Division leader. They're two up in the third wild card spot and a half game out for the second wild card spot, just behind Minnesota for the Dodgers. Fifty six and forty one.

They limped to the finish line of the first half, losing eight of the last eleven and the starters in that time went zero to five with the seven eight six ERA. Tonight, Gavin Stone takes the hill for the Dodgers. He's nine and three in a three two six ERA. He'll make his eighteenth start. Nick Pavetta will throw for Boston. He is four and six with a four eighteen ERA, making his fifteenth start. Rick Monday is on vacation

till the Houston series. Jose Mota is with us. We're lucky to have Jose and this is an important series for the Dodgers to start the second half on the right foot. It is. You want to go out there and know that the break came at the right time, and the Dodgers obviously gonna use a break, and you know they limped that. You mentioned going three and seven the last ten games, and we saw so many factors tim that

led to that. But now it's pickup time. Now, you know the toughest part of the schedules coming up, no matter what the opposing team looks like, in what the record is, because now is about you and how you measure up against yourself. The values we know have been invaded by injuries

and lack of production and so many other things. But I think the little reset with the leadership they have and the fact that they they've been there before and they understand what's ahead of him, and certainly, you know, the

product's still very good. And for sure, there's so many guys that I've talked to Tim that say, I guess haven't played my best baseball and I know it's gonna come when really matters now, starting here in July, some important players who just took part in the Midsummer Classic festive and he's show. Hey O Townny had a home run on the All Star Game. Teoscar Hernandez wins the home run derby and leading off for Boston tonight Jared Durant, he

was the All Star Game MVP. This kid is so good. Talk to Mike Sosia about him years ago when he had him in the Olympic team, and he goes, listen, this is going to be a star player. Long Beach State product, kid from Corona who can do so many different things, including one of the most the most exciting hit in baseball, the triple How about ten of them, and certainly the dollues on all their hands are full because he can run and he pretty much leads the charge on a guy

that also Tim likes the play every single day. Twenty two stolen bases for him. David Hamilton whole bats second for Boston, twenty three stolen bases, one of the American League leaders. So back in New England, they're referring to this version of the team as the running Red Sox. I love that because it's all about atra bases, which they do quite well. But I

think putting pressure because Alex Korral likes that tope of player. He likes the athletic player, things that give him options to work with when it comes down to pushing on the team. So they're not so cut up in Boston only wins at all. Well, they play better on the broad than actually they do at home. A couple of things. Pitching wise, Tyler glasnow through

a SIM game this afternoon, went three innings, fifty seven pitches. It looks likely he'll be back in the San Francisco Series at some point in time. Clayton Kershaw pitching in Triple A at Round Rock and they're going to determine after tonight's start for Kershaw win and if he'll be back in the Major league rotation. Conversation is you know a lot of teams leaving wide ways bullets down

there where you can help us up here. But I think for Kershew and his history to him, I mean truly and speaking clearly here is what is going to be best for him to try to go five eighty five a couple of times to maybe if there is any soreness for it to happen when he's not activated. But also you got to see or he is where he stands, because we know one thing, he is pushing to be here. But I think he gotta be very careful consuding the recent history with that shoulder too.

Gavin Stone pitching tonight for the Dodgers. It'll be Nick Pavetta for Boston. The Red Sox have not been to Dodgers Stadium since they won the World Series against the Dodgers in twenty eighteen. Dodgers Red Sox Game one of the three game sent coming up from Dodger Stadium. Tim, all right, as we count you down to first pitch, Dodger fans, get your game, Damia on, It's Shaky's Pizza Parlor. What are your Shaky's Pizza Chicken? And Mojo's right now at Shaky's Dot, Come coming up, here on Dodgers

on Deck. As we leads up to first pitch, you'll hear from the Dodger manager, Dave Roberts. We'll check in with David Vets say we'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup. I'm next, Oh you're Otani. Rewind and we'll hear from tay Oscar Nandez after his performance in the home run dirty that's all coming up as we leave you up to Dodgers in Red Sox on this Friday night, first pitch of seven ten. Thanks for being with us.

I'm Tim Kas's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network is Morongo Casino, Dodgers on Dodgers on Deck. Y'all on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball. It's the Dodgers in Red Sox, the start of a three game set Boston Town. Here post All Star Break, Cavin Stone, Nick Paveta the pitching matchup, first pitch set, first seven ten. This is the Otani ree. Why it's a star fil soda doesn't even move. Latani has hammered in the All Star Game showy Otani homered in the All Star Game with a blast early for

the National League. He had twenty nine during the regular season in his first half, and he connected with a big home run in the All Star Game in Arlington on Tuesday ninth is Sotani rewind brought to by Eto inns Oyocha, Japan's number one green tea and the Tea that show Heyotani Loves and drinks available local Diiso stores, Amazon and eto In dot Com. That's it o e

In the first round, he hit nineteen home runs to qualify as one of the top four home run hitters, advancing into the semi finals, where he beat Alec Bohm by one home run sixteen to fifteen. The finals of the Home Run Derby came down to Taoscar

Hernandez and Bobby wid Junior. The hometown kid who plays for the Kansas City Royals, had every opportunity to try to win it with the final at bat, but Taoscar Hernandez held on and won with fourteen home runs in the final round to win the Home Run Derby and afterwards talked about it. Tell me what was going through your mind as that last ball off with Spat was sailing into the outfield. Oh man, I was nervous, na now when I see that ball, the last one when he still got two outs and one

one home run, too tight with me. And then the last the last shot that he got, he was a little like too close to tight, but thank god, and then it went out so super happy and it looked like you had a couple of nice conversations with Laddie in the middle and he was giving you and I think he pulled out of a vintage jersey of yours as well. Just what were some of your conversations with Laddie. That was

one of the biggest surprise tonight what he did. He said yesterday when when we get to uh we get here to the hotel, Zay, I got a surprise for you, compilative. So I'm gonna show it tomorrow. So he brings my jersey from Toronto and when he goes to home play he was trying to calm down, so he had passed through the two times and it works well, he said, it works. It helped me going into the last run in the final. Right here in the middle of side run,

come your commenetrations. We say you're receiving a tifts from show Hair. What kind of tifts did you receive from show Hay? He said to hit the ball to left center, to not pull it U because I had to let a chance because the way my swing is to go over there, it's far. But he said, it's better for you, Jason on the left. So thanks to ask her. Congratulations. How hard is it to sit there when you're not hitting and watch Alec Baum was one homer away and curled that

ball that almost was fair. Bobby Witt needed one homer to tie you and hit that ball and it hung at the night and it hit the wall. How hard is it to watch those moments? I mean, I was trying to hold all my emotions, you know, But I'm not the guy that is gonna think about that about other players the same opportunity that I got to do the best job. They were doing it, and I was happy for

them, even if I would have lost. For me, just to be in here, make it to the finals and going through those moments, it just feel grateful. All right. Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with Dave Roberts Really good velocity was good. The stuff was great, a lot of swing and miss. He said he felt good. Back was good. Three innings I think it was, you know, upwards around fifty

seven pitches, so really good start to our day. You know, probably throw a bullpen after that, and you know, if all goes well, we should go to slot him into the rotation. All right, there's the manager, Dave Roberts down the dug out, brought to you by Service Titan. Dave Roberts is a Titan in his own right, and he's got a plan before his team hits the field. I'm Tim Kas's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network. This is Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck on your home for the Blue All Season Law. It's Dodgers in Red Sox from Dodgers Stadium on this Friday night start of a three game series. Gavin Stone Nick Pivetta the pitching matchup in

this series opener, first game since the All Star Break. First pitch coming up at seven to ten. Coming up, we'll dive deeper to this pitching matchup. We'll have those keys to the game as well. But first, David Veasse, twenty four year old Justin Robleski will make the start tomorrow for the Dodgers, and we had a chance to catch up with the Dodgers rookie right hander Justin. Thanks a lot for the time, appreciate it. Yeah, yeah, no worries, No worries. Hey, let's just get this

out of the way right now. I've heard people refer to you as Robo. I'm not in with that nickname. I'm not sure if you're in with that nickname. Can you just set the record straight. If you want people to stop referring to as Robo, we can make that happen right now, you know what. So when I was in when I was in fourth grade, when I was in fourth grade, fourth grade, oh yeah, that's when that's when it started. And then kind of just my whole life everyone's

called me that. So I've kind of grown into it and I kind of like it. So that's that's what we're gonna stick with, all right, all right. I was hoping you would say you hate it. No, it's it's it's kind of just like it's me now, you know what I mean At this point, I've written with it for so long and it's kind of just who I am. I mean, I look at your name. I don't see Robo anywhere in this name. It's it's just because Robleski and

I's for whatever reason, just Robo. That's just what it was. So with a W in the front though not not not Robo, it's Wrbo. Yeah, and maybe that's why the fourth graders there just went with robo right right there. Yeah, W Yeah. Easier to say, hey, justin I know you're in the big leagues right now, but man, you are an underdog story. You were an eleventh round pick in twenty twenty one. You were the three hundred and forty second overall pick that year. Do you

feel like you're an underdog story? I would say, yeah, but kind of had a lot of unfortunate things happened in my college career that kind of, I guess, not derailed, but just kind of made my path different than a lot of other people's. So I've always kind of felt, you know, that's kind of a chip on my shoulder, like they don't think I can, so I will. I think that's just kind of who I

am. But yeah, it's I would say I'm an underdog, but I would say I've never I've never viewed myself as like lesser than I guess if that makes sense. I've always had confidence. Yeah, no doubt. I saw that at Dodger Stadium. You really had mound presence for a guy that

was making his major league debut. Where does that come from? I think I think it just kind of falls back on my preparation and just kind of I don't know, I guess just who I am as a person, Like if I'm if I feel prepared, I think, you know, I can compete with with anybody. So I guess that's where it comes from. It's just I guess slowly been built up over time. But it's it's just kind of I don't know, that's a good question, but I'd say it's just

something I slowly built over time. Hey, I guess if you feel like you're prepared, you have that confidence. If you're not prepared, that's when you're nervous, right, I actually get some homework on you, roblest. I actually text your TRIPAA manager, Travis Barbery and asked him what he thought about Justin Robleski. You want to hear what he had to tell me. If they were good things. Yeah, they were good things. And it

goes back to preparation. He said. The biggest thing that stood out to him is how detailed your pre start preparation is and the homework you do on the lineup that you're going to face. And I'm sure when you were in that hotel room before you made your major league debut against the Brewers, you were doing a lot of studying. So did I interrupt the preparation for the Red Sox? Uh? No, that's that's already been. I mean,

there's already been a lot of that that's done already. Obviously I'm gonna go probably going tomorrow and look at a few more things. But yeah, it's I kind of I try to do it. It's kind of like homework for me. I guess I just kind of I try to get it out of the way and then so I can look over it and kind of really understand, like what I'm trying to do. From that standpoint, what are you looking at? Without giving away too many secrets? Why are you so detailed?

Are you looking at the swings? Can you read swings as the game is going on? What are you looking for? I think for sure reading

swings is part of it for me. I'm I'm definitely more of a numbers guy, so I like, I have a customer report that the Dodgers have that I've always I've looked at. And there's a couple of other things that they've helped me kind of, I guess mold and there's certain certain tendencies and other things that I'm looking at. I'm not gonna say everything, but yeah, just certain tendencies kind of what guys like to do where they do damage. I guess it is kind of the biggest pieces of it for me.

There, he goes. Justin Robleski, the South Paw will be back on the mound tomorrow evening here at Dodgers Stadium for Game two of this three game series against the Boston Red Sox. Tim, we'll send it back to you, all right. Thanks a lot, David, head to your Southern California Ford Dealers for great offers on a Ford Bronco Sport or Ford model during Ford's fourth of July Celithon check them out now coming up here on Dodgers on Deck.

Classes can fill up quickly. So enrolled today and I can go to college dot com and now joined by David Basseying, Here's LA Dodgers broadcaster and World Series Champion Dodger Rick Monday, Jose Mota in the

saddle. This series and this entire home stand for Rick Monday and Jose the Dodgers back in action and talking to some guys, they feel like they needed

a mental break just as much of a physical break. It is true, Dave, no matter what you know, you can go into an all star break playing great, and the word is always why now right, But even then guys will go you still need to reset, you know, and then where you're not play well, as the Dodgers are not playing well coming into the break, then it's like, oh, how ideal, hal timely, But it's just your mind gets ready to just go out there and just say,

I don't have to think about betting practice today well times you know, the bus or anything like that, but just give your body and your mind reset because you know what's coming. It's the toughest dates are going to be ahead, and the Dodgers are starting to get more reinforcements back tonight they have

Gavin Stone on the mound. I know you and Tim are going to talk about it a little bit more, but what is it out to you the most about Gavin Stones's first half The fact that he's not afraid of the zone. I mean, and you said it very well in spring Train. Now I give you a lot of credit for this. I do like his remade mechanics, which to me are a little more violent, which is great, you know, the finish up in the striking of the zone, the filling

out. But he's a girl also as a pitcher because it was almost like he was told at one point, you know, the change of is your outpitch. His ladder's still developing. It's it's sometimes an okay pitch. But now the sinker, it's pretty much what God where he is. This guy's an all star pitcher. Uh not by title, but he is. And the way he's pitched, he said, the values a lot. You know, last couple of starts has not doing very well, but it's part of

the adjustment he has to make and the league is making against it. But Dave, that sinker plays so well, and I know that there's so many people watching to see if he's gonna continue with this pitch because it is a contact pitch. Was allowed him to go a little deeper in games because he does have the four seam where they can get people out. But I think he's learned enough to know I know what I'd need to do to get guys out sometimes on three pitches. Want to keep using it. He's done a

very good job growing. Now is the league just let's see how he's gonna adjust also to the guys in the batchback And that's where it all starts for the Dodgers. Right, Jose. When they got this big lead in the division, their starters were going six or more innings and giving them great starts. Lately it hasn't been going that direction. It's vital for Gavin Stone to go at least six tonight, right. And the best thing is he's coming off the rest. He can go out there and give you six plus innings.

He has the stuff to do it. He's gonna face a lineup today that obviously has a lot of unknowns, but a team that can, you know, be a little bit of a headche sometimes because they can run and they have a lot of extra brace power, but at the same time, you make good pitches. Says he's done throughout the season. He should be just fine knowing that sometimes if that tinip is not there, he's got something

else to work with. And I mean length. Sometimes you think about veteran pitchers and thinking about who's pitching, you know, and maybe like the background of a pitcher like that. But he doesn't have that, right but he does now, and he could be the guy that can set the tone and say, hey, I know that I'm the younger guy here, but certainly you have the conference could have done and I think he's a big important for him today. Do you believe the Dodger bullpen should have a meeting before the

game tonight, just regroup after the way things went down in Detroit. No, I think everybody should go out there know what their jobs is and then understanding that where they failed, will the starter have failed too, and just

know that you gotta go out there and pick each other up. I know, you know guys want to be slotted in important positions, but I think Dave Roberts now with the off days, is gonna have a little bit more freedom as to who we slots where, because, as we know very well, when you're back against the wall and your starter are not going deep, you end up pitching guys in roles of which they're not comfortable. Are not

ideal for him. I think those days for now are over. When we look at the Dodgers, and Dave has even mentioned this the last two weeks going into the All Star break, there's been some questions about pitch sequencing from his right handed relievers to left handed hit Do you believe that's something the Dodgers may have reevaluated during the break, Yes, because it is important as the innings accumulate as your information goes out there and gets gathered. There's the teams

that you're gonna be facing doing the same thing right now. You counteract that, but don't get away from what makes you good too, because that's another problem now where you start over analyzing, then you get away from your strength and you play more to what you think they're not gonna do, what they're gonna look for, and you end up with a lot of trouble. These guys have done it before and they know exactly what they need to do.

But sequencing, it's a matter of where your stuff is that particular date, who you're facing, and they pay attention to how they're taking your pitches. That's the biggest indicator as to what they might be looking for. And with your catcher, the way he sets up has not much to do with where you throw a pitch. But I think it's important to your catch on time to exaggerate when you're missing out of a play, to exaggerate on one side or the other on the dirt, say if you miss, you're gonna miss

here, because you end up making better pictures that way. Well. A fresh start for the Dodgers, no easy task tonight to star the second half against the Boston Red Sox, who are the surprise team in Major League Baseball. No surprise, Jose Mota teaches us something to get ready for the game. Great to have you in the booth for the game with Tim Negert. Jose, Oh, I got Timmy next to me again? Are you kidding

it. It feels good to be back home, especially because I got a chance to bring this uh with Can you show off the trophy to everybody at home? They want to see that, they want to see it here. It's a little it's a little dirty, but you know it's nice to have this and be the first Dodgers to win it. Yeah, no doubt. And this is something that you told me you wanted to do going back a month. How rewarding is it to not only be invited, but to win

it, you know, to have the opportunity. Uh, I already tend thanks everybody that has UH to do anything with my participation in the derby this year, for the chance and more special because it's the first time this is uh bring this is bring here to La. So UH really happy. I enjoy the best. It was an incredible moment. How did you feel after everybody talks about how exhausting the home run Derby is? Did you feel exhausted after? Not? Really? I was, you know, I was good

a little sore, but nothing big. It just it was a really really good moment. I wasn't thinking about anything else and the excitement that I get in the competition. How big of a role did Dino Ebel play and you winning this? I mean, I think there's not a chance if you don't have anybody throwing good pitches to here. And Dina was amazing. It was thanks to him that I got this today. This had to be an amazing All Star experience for you, not only winning the home run derby but also

starting in center field. Was it as great as it seemed to be for you? It was amazing experience. It was great. I enjoy it, My family enjoy My brother's got a chance to be there for the first time. I was there with my whole family, parents, friends, Coustin's, my wife, my kids. This is my first time that the kids we're there in twenty one. I only have two. Julian wasn't here, but you know, it was a great moment for my career and for my family.

Hey, it's great. The kids haven't broken the trophy yet. I don't think they're gonna broke baseline because it's really heavy. It's metal, so uh you know, happy, happy to win this and just to be the first one to bring it here. Tay Oscar, we saw your old friend, Vladimir Guerrero Junior wearing your Blue Jays jersey. Did you send him home with a Dodger jersey? No, not not yet, not yet, but he said that he won one of my jerseys. Obviously, I'm gonna give

one to him. You know, his special He's spared my family now and he was there supporting me the same way that I was there when he competed in those It was in Cleveland in nineteen and then Seattle last year. I was not in the Lstar Game, but I was in Seattle, so I was watching. I call him and just you know, just cheering for him. Now, back to work. First half begins tonight against the Red Sox. Do you feel like the All Star break came at the perfect time to

wash away that last road trip. Yeah, it was not great for us, you know, especially because we had a lot of injuries at the end. But that's war a baseball. We just have to keep fighting, be better and just trying to win. To come back to Dodger Stadium tonight, I'm sure it's going to be electric with the Boston Red Sox here, but

more importantly you and the rest of the team back here in action. Are you anticipating a huge ovation when you take the field, when you step in the batter's box, because you know they're going to show highlights of the home

run derby. I wasn't thinking about it, you know, but it's definitely feel great to be back home, especially to hear him from the fence, and like you say, facing that organization, the Boston Rexas, they've been playing a really good baseball, which is things gonna be a good show tonight. Man. I wish I had some seeds for you right now. I wish I was at the derby. I could have thrown some seeds when you won that derby. That's okay, we can do it today. We can

celebrate today if I hit home. All right. Great to see you and great to see that smile all week and Arlington, Texas with Ti Oscar Hernandez. Congratulations. Everybody says you deserve this. You're a great player, but everybody that knows you knows how great of a person you are. So well deserved. Thank you appreciate it. Hold up that trophy one more time. Come on, there you go? Can I touch it? Oh? Right,

there we go, there we go. All right, there's Taoscar Hernandez and the trophy with David Vez. Say Docers Baseball is brought to by Speedy cash'll sponsor of every LA Weekend. Bright blue sky is not a cloud to be seen anywhere. A little warm this evening, but it's good baseball weather. Nick Pavetta will pitch for Boston. He is four and six. Meantime, Gavin Stone going for the Dodgers. Stone is nine and three. One thing about Gavin Stone is he doesn't hit a lot of barrels.

His barrel percentage is the second lowest and major League Baseball, just behind fraanber Valdez of Houston. So with his change up and you know a couple of those other pitches, he just had been hitting the middle of too many bats. When you think about the sinker, what a sinker is supposed to do is exactly what this is happening, and you relate it all to guys

gearing up so much. Sometimes with that changeup, he comes in with a fastball that sinker in around the waist in running in on righties, and he's been able to break a lot of bats. As you mentioned missing Barrett. Sometimes when they find barrels, they found it at the top of the baseball, which induced it into a lot of ground balls. And that's why he's

been able to go a little bit deeper. But he's complimented so well that sinker with that changeup, the slyly he does not overuse, but overall it's base stay in baseball. He is making home plate much bigger right now for the hitters, Nick Pavetta going for Boston tonight. Freddie Freeman, Choeo, Johnny Taaskar Hernandez, Chris Taylor, all with very good histories against Nick Pivetta. We'll see if it plays out in the ball game Tonight, Game one

of a three game weekend set at Dodgers Stadium. Gavin Stone and Nick Pavetta. It's the Dodgers hosting the Boston Red Sox.
