And now your host for Morongo Casino Dodgers on Tech. Tim Chase, Hi, everybody, and welcome in to Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck. Hope you're well on this Wednesday afternoon. You're a Los Angeles Dodgers thirty eight and twenty four looking to get back on track after losing last night in Pittsburgh. In this series opener tonight, James Paxson on the mound, Paul Schemes, former first round number overall, number one overall pick is going for the Pirates.

First pitch from P and T Park is coming up at three forty. Between now and then, we got a lot to get to here. On Maronggo Casino Dodgers on Deck, you will hear from Gavin Stone, who is off to a great season here in twenty twenty four for the Dodgers. We'll check in with the Dodger manager Dave Roberts will preview this pitch matchup. Shortly, we'll hear from Kirsten Watson. David Vassa will join us. Throughout the show.

We'll get your O TWI, rewind your magical moment of the day, and in just a few minutes we'll head out to the Gallpin Motors Broadcast booth and here from Rick Monday and Tim neffertt Well. Last night in Pittsburgh, it was a pitcher's duel as the Dodgers struggled offensively to get after Jared Jones, the former Lamarado High School standout, when six shutout innings, allowed just three hits along the way while striking out six before turning it over to the

Pittsburgh bullpen. Meanwhile, Tyler Glass, now who has gotten zero run support in his last five starts, it continued again last night. Six innings, he allowed just one run on three hits while striking out nine. The only run of the game he gave up came at the bottom of the third, a solo home run. It was just joining us. They were a little tarny taking the field tonight. Three two pelt at the right field and date. This ball's back and it is can over the clemeny wall for a home

run. A three to two pitch, A fastball left up and end, so Winsky turns on it for his fifth home run of the season. The Pirates strike first to night it has one to nothing Pittsburgh. Jacksonwinsky with the solo home run the thirty and that was the only mistake that Tyler glass Now made the entire night last night, and the Dodgers right after Alex Vessi has scored at seventh inning. Ramirez a scoreless eighth inning. Meanwhile, the Dodgers

offense had five hits in the game. They actually out hit the Pittsburgh Pilots last night, five to four, but that solo home run was the difference. The Dodgers had a couple of chances with runners in scoring position, especially late. They wasted two late inning opportunities. Gavin Lux double leading off the seventh but was stranded at second. Then pinchitter Andy pot Has struggled to in the eighth inning with runners on first and third as he struck out. The

Dodgers last night were zero for twelve with runners in scoring position. They left nine base runners on base. The Dodgers had a chance of the ninth inning, bdard On in relief. Banar pitching for the Pirates, their closer usually lights out, facing Chris Taylor, who almost hit it out oh one pitch. Taylor swings hits a high fly ball deep to left center, going back toward the notch, but's gonna stay in. It's caught by Reynolds a one, two, three ninth, and the Pirates shut out the Dogs one to

nothing here tonight and take game one of those three game series. Chris Taylor gave it a ride last night. That ball was deep four hundred plus feet, but the wall was four hundred and twelve and it stayed in the ballpark at P and C Park as the Pirates hang on for a one to nothing win over the Dodgers. Jared Jones at Alamarad against the win, He's now four and five. Tyler Glass now again no runs support. He falls to six and four on this season. With the loss, The Dodgers now thirty

eight and twenty four on this season as they drop this series opener. The good news is the Padres also lost, so the Dodgers remained seven games up on San Diego. They're eight and a half games up on Arizona going into tonight's game, and James Paxston on the mound for the Dodgers, looking to get them back on track in game two of this three game series from Pittsburgh. It's the Dodgers and Pirates, and with more than head out to the

Galpin Motors Broadcast booth. As we welcome in Rick Monday and Tim Neffrick. Guys, Tim, thanks very much. Got except for Game two of this three game series Dodgers and Pirates and the the old battling Buckos they battled last night. The Dodgers had a bottom out kind of night offensively last night. You know, the season is all peaks and valleys, and this was the bottom of the valley last night for the Dodgers in terms of the offense.

Oh, for twelve with runners in scoring position over the last four games, they've just got four hits in thirty six at bats with runners in scoring position. These things all turned around eventually, but for the Dodgers that can't come soon enough. It was just in the bottom of the valley. It may have been in a trench, and they've been in a trench the last ten games with runners in scoring position. Did some numbers on that, seventeen for

ninety three in the last ten games. That's a one to eighty three batting average when they've had opportunities to knock in runs and with one swing. The difference in last night's game with the Jack Lewinsky hitting the home run, just getting recold because he was not producing well. He produced last night his first evamp took a three to two pitch Tyler Glasnow offering out of the ballpark and that was the extent of the scoring. And not too many times do you

lose a game or the other team. He was also hitless with runners in scoring position and hookie bets. He is in a slump. He's won for his last twenty one. That was a home run on Sunday. He has now gone four straight games without a hit. He did reach base in the third inning last night when he walked, but he's gone four straight games without a hit. It's only the third time in his career that's ever happened. Yeah, and the man right behind him show hey O'tani. The last eight

games. First of all, the strikeat rate is almost at forty percent, and in those eight games Otani now surprisingly even though he's still hitting at three twenty one last eight games, it's a one ninety four Patty average. One of the concerns tonight is going to be the fastball. Paul Skeins, the rookie phenom who less than a year ago was just beginning LSU's run to the national title. Just out of college and he's already in the big leagues and

he is dominating major league hitters. Makes his first ever start against the Dodgers. He's a Southern California out of El Toro High School. He grew up an Angels fan, and he's going to be pitching against whom he saw make his major league debut as a pitcher with the Angels. But he throws the hardest fastballs far and away out of any starter in Major League Baseball. And the Dodgers have struggled against pitches that have been ninety nine miles an hour plus

this year, hitting only sixty eight against them. Yeah, they're gonna have to change something now. Sometimes hitters will say, look, here's a guy with an overpowering fastball and he's thrown thirty seven pitches one hundred miles an hour or higher. Do they get a little bit deeper in the box, in other words, towards the catcher, deep in the box, give themselves a few more men, maybe a foot, depending upon where they normally stand.

Also, do you think about choking up? Do you go hunting for a fastball first pitch because it's not just the fastball, Then you thinker and the splitter that scheme throws. So I think from an offensive standpoint, the Dodgers have to figure out something in their pregame meeting. Look, are we going to change our approach? And certainly need to change it firstus the approach they had last night. As far as the lineup is concerned, Chris Taylor back

in there. The hardest ball he hit all year was hit last night in the ninth inning, it seemed, and it went into the area known as the north side notch four hundred and ten feet away. It was like a four hundred and nine foot out, which would have tied the game but for Chris Taylor getting another chance starting on back to back nine Yeah, and I think also with Taylor, we talked about it quite a lot. His strikeout percentage is really high. I mean it's forty five percent. That's going to

have to change. Last night it did. He put the ball into play all four outings. But if we go back to spring turning, Taylor came in and say, look, I'm no longer buying into that launch angle, he says, hitting too many balls into the air well. Last night, he made three fly ball outs to the outfield and one pop up to the infield, so it was not the lion drive stroke that he's been working in trying to find. So the Dodgers and Pirates go at it Game two of

this three game series, Dodgers trying to even things up. It is Paul's Skeins pitching for the Pirates. He is two and oh with a two forty five ERA one hundred miles an hour fastball almost every fastball he throws. Meantime, James Paxton, the lefty, is five and oh. He is off to a great start in a three twenty nine era first pitch not that far away, Tim, All right, thank you guys, as we count you down to first pitch. Dodger fans, get your game day meal on it

This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston Watson. Hey, Kirston now joins us from PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Dodgers looking to get back on track. Heuston and an ee MC offense right now, especially yesterday, I had some opportunities but couldn't get any runs across in a one nothing loss to Jared Jones. Are the pirates

and tonight they got their work cutout for them against Paul Skeans. Yeah, they really do. And yesterday when it came to Jared Jones, he was finding different ways to be effective. And I think even when Dave was talking about him afterwards, like there are some challenges when you are facing younger pitchers where you have information on them, of course, but not as much as necessarily to help you make those adjustments you really need to be making in game.

And so today is going to be a similar battle against Paul Skeans and the other catchers that he throws the ball really hard, tim And unfortunately right now for the Dodgers, as much as the offense hasn't been you've kind of seen these inconsistent results. The offense against the hard ball is not necessarily the numbers aren't where you'd want them to be, so that's right now. The biggest focus for the offense is how do you get back on track going against

the hard stuff. And because of Paul Skean's is gonna be pitching today most of his stuff, the numbers are up there, so it should be it's gonna be a tough one for them. Hopefully they can get the results. But Dave was saying, you know, they're trying to make you know, adjustments. It's obviously a very broad word and that means a lot of different things, but they're trying to do what is necessary to get the results. So hopefully that happens tonight. We'll see what happens. But I think the

hope is just find ways to get going early. That's got to be the focus, and then hopefully, of course they're really strong outing from James Paxson as well to keep them in the game. Kirsten is brought to buy Cars for Kids. The easiest way to get ready to old cars. Donate today your car could be picked up tomorrow. Donate now at Cars for Kids dot org. That's cars with a Kay you mentioned James Paxson, the big Maple get the start last time out and abbreviated one, but that was on purpose.

But what about tonight. Yeah, so his last one, he only threw three innings, and he was sufficient and effective. It was great, and they were being very mindful of his you know, start dates. So he is someone who does performs better when he's on an x straight day or so of rest, and so his last one was his first one on regular rest, so they limited the pitch count so that he was able to kind of be ready for this one. So when it comes to today, Dave

feels really good about where he's at. He can hopefully he can get deep into the game or really just go for as long as as hard as he can. Because the other catch, which probably I forgot to mention, is the weather here in Pittsburgh. You know, there is some raine that's going to be coming in tonight, so hopefully it doesn't interrupt, you know, early in the game, and so it's kind of like, hopefully they can

get through six seven innings before it does downpour. Well let mean I say down poor, because I don't want to wish that upon us before it's ours s Erraine. So hopefully they can get as much as they can from the starters though, because that is something that they got to be mindful of. So we can get some quick efficient, you know, five innings. Let's make it happen. Absolutely. Let's play a little fast baseball tonight, boys, and we appreciate it. Cures still to come here. Amargo Casino Dodgers

on Deck will preview this bitch matchup. David Mass goes one on one with Gavin Stone, but I'm not We'll get you an injury report. Got some big news possibly helping for the Dodgers, and some arms coming back, and we'll hear from Dodger manager Dave Roberts. It's the Dodgers and Pirates from Pittsburgh. First pitch of three forty. I'm Tim Kates's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network. This is Marongo Casino Dodgers Hunters on your home for La Dodgers Baseball.

Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on these Wednesday afternoon Marongo Casino Resort and Spam a Grand Slam for good times, leading you up to Dodgers and Pirates from Pittsburgh. First pitch set for three forty. This it's the LA Dodgers Injury Report, presented by UCLA Health, official medical partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Max Munsey on the IL with the oblique injury, Joe Kelly on the I L with the shoulder strain, Ryan Brazier on the IEL with the right

cap strain, Bobby Miller right shoulder inflammation. More on Bobby Miller and Kyle Hurt coming up in just a few minutes with David Vasse. Also an update on Clayton Kershaw, how the future Hall of Famer is progressing throwing off a mount and how soon could he be returning to this Dodger's rotation. Dustin May on the sixty day I L imageon done for the season, having Tommy John surgery two weeks ago. Let's head back out to PNC Park in Pittsburgh and

check you with the Dodger skipper. Questions for Dave Dave? Can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with Dave Roberts. It's it's difficult at times when you don't have familiarity with with a pitcher, you know, yesterday obviously, Jerry Jones had his way with us.

It's fun to watch a young pitcher compete like you did. Obviously, unfortunately we were the recipients of a good outing, you know, with schemes, just kind of watching the video and you know, trying to you know, gather information. It's a four pitch mix, it's good man, it's high velocity, and so I think it's more of just trying to be on the attack. I think, you know, for us hunting certain pitches locations,

and when we do get an opportunity, we got to cash in. And so you know, you let a young pitcher get confidence and get settled in. You know, you see what can happen. You had a Taylor start yesterday, You have him at third base today. Was that predetermined or did you see something last night that made you think that you want to give him another opportunity tonight. I think it's a combo. I thought the first at bat, I like, the first at bat, I like the contact,

and the last at bat versus Bednar. I think it's just trying to create a little opportunity for him, you know, with schemes. I gave Pies a day off yesterday, uh to get ct in there and uh I figured, you know, given Rojas and Keith k another day to get CT in the lineup. It's not a bad thing, all right. There's Dave Roberts down the dugout, brought to you by Service Titan. Dave Roberts a Titan in his own right, and he's got a plan before his team hits the

field. You need one for your growing contracting business too. Let Service Titan help you implement it. Learn more at Service Titan dot com. It's all powered by Lacare Health Plans serving all Angelina's Lacare dot Org joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on deck. I accept everybody for who they are. This is Dodger insider David Basse. All right, DV, I'm on a weather man, but I know there's some rain in the

forecast. What's going on? Oh yeah, you can feel the humidity here at PNC Park. The tams are getting closer to ninety degrees and there's been thunderstorms since last night in the Pittsburgh area, and batting practice was canceled for both teams because the skies opened up for about twenty minutes and there was that threat throughout the early afternoon that it could happen again. This game is going to start on time, but about three hours from now is when weather forecasters

are saying there could be more rain in the area. So fingers crossed the Dodgers and Pirates can get this game in before the rain and the sky opens up. But right now, they have a bunch of bunch of youth baseball and softball kids walking the field, similar to what we see on Sundays at Dodgers Stadium. So right now, beautiful weather, I guess steamy weather to play baseball in Pittsburgh. David is driven by a Ford F Series, America's

best selling truck for forty seven years in county. Ford gives you freedom of choice gas hybrid electric, head of your Southern California four dealers and find yours Ford M Series built tough. Paul Skins certainly tough to hit DV. This is a guy who can throw it up there in the upper nineties and usually over one hundred. Yeah, and he's a tall kid, six six. You heard from him on the pregame show yesterday. And look, the Dodgers

are under no false pretenses that this will be easy. This is going to be a tough matchup for them. And Skiings has been tough on Major league offenses since his call up. And what makes them difficult, like I mentioned, is that not only is he six six, so when he releases the ball, HiT's extremely close to the home plate than most pitchers. So that makes it another layer to the difficulty to hit him. But the Dodgers have got to find a way to move runners over and do a better job with

runners in scoring position than what they did last night. Dave Roberts actually said when he talks about adjustments that hitters are going to have to sell out at times for the fastball, and we'll see whether or not they do that against one of the young heart throwing pitchers in Major League Baseball, Paul Skins. All Right, DV Friday, Dodgers will be at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. But it's a big day for some of the Dodger pitchers on the injured

list. Yeah, Rancho Kucamonga is going to have Clayton Kershaw out at their stadium. No, not pitching in a game, but pitching a two inning simulated game. And for Oklahoma City Bobby Miller, it is expected to be his final rehab start before he rejoins the Dodger at Dodgers. And also a name we have not heard in quite some time that's been on the injured list since the first month of the season, and that is reliever out of USC

Kyle Hurt. Kyle Hurt has been on the sixty day IL with right shoulder inflammation and is expected to pitch in the same game that Bobby Miller is going to start on Friday for Oklahoma City. So that would be huge for the Dodgers to get an arm like Hurt back in their bullpen. No. Doubt about it. Guys starting to trickle back. That's always a good thing. DV. All right, Tim, Now for the Dodger Jermy brought to you by Santa Anita Park. We're gonna pick Friday's first race at San Anino one

mile on the turf. It is a ten of horse race currently DV. Friday's first race, one mile on the turf. What do you like out of the ten horses? Well, I'm all about metaphors, right, so I'm going with the number eight horse fight back like the Dodgers will tonight against the Buckos. All right, I'm gonna go with the five horse Ghostly Act. Classes can fill up quickly, so enroll today and I can go to college dot com and now joined by David Basse. Here's La Dodgers broadcast and World Series Champion Dodger Rick Monday. A little steamier today, Rick here

in downtown Pittsburgh with some thunderstorms circulating the area. Yeah, a little steamier also because the offense seems to be well in a quagmire right now. Got runs on five fifth last night, and for Timeler glassnow he gets stuck with the loss, even though he pitched much better than to get the loss. Six innings one run on three hits, was all struck out nine. But the problem for Glass now has not been the pitching. It's been lack of

hitting and lack of scoring. The Dodgers now the last time they scored a run with Tyler Glass noow actually still in the ballgame. You have to go back to May fourth. It's been over a month, it really has. And it's shocking when you read that, see that, hear that. But for glass now Rick, he's been better than advertised as far as what we knew about him in Tampa Bay. Yeah, yeah, I think if you

start to look at what the glass now has done. Also, the first nine batters through the first inning just to one twenty nine batting average against his below two hundred to second time through. The third time through has been a little problematic. As far as the earned run average, it's over six, but the batting average against is barely two hundred. So he has held up on that end of it. And then you start to talk about holding up. Alex Vessi again comes in. Vessia has lowered his ERA to one point

three. The lefty has been equally effective against left handed hitters right handed hitters. And then Johann Ramirez came on and worked a scoreless eighth inning one two three. He got through it. So the Hunters have to figure out a better way to try and attack it, because last night they had plenty of opportunities, but they were zero for twelve with runners in scoring position. And

I did some adding up the last ten games. Now the Dodgers has a team with a chance to knock in a run and scoring position collectively hitting just one eighty three, and that's not going to get it done when you look at who they faced last night and who they're going to face tonight. Not an easy task going up against pitchers that throw one hundred plus miles an hour. No Tim and I will talk about it also a little bit later on

the pregame show. But I look forward to seeing what is going to take place with Paul Skeins, who's the local Sun, the California product out of the Fullerton I've seen him pitch once on television for a few innings and it really caught my attention, and I want to see him now up close and personally. He's got good stuff, and the Dodgers are going to have to make some adjustments, and I'm not seeing a whole lot of adjustments offensively at

the present time. When you talk about adjustments. I mentioned this that I saw a video from Darryl Strawberry last week where if he was not hitting the fastball well, he would move back on the pitcher. If he was not seen or hitting the off speed stuff, he would move closer to the picture. You don't see those adjustments, right, And who's pitching on that given night, because it's a guy that is labeled as a soft tosser that throws a lot of breaking stuff. Then yeah, maybe you will move forward in

the batter's box a little closer to the picture. Maybe you move forward a little bit closer to home plate, daring him to give you a fastball. And are you trying to basically lay in the weeds and just hunt for that fastball? You know, pictures set up hitters a lot. How many times can hitters maybe set up a picture? Doesn't happen as often as picture is doing it to hitters, But it is a possibility to do that if you tempt them to do it. But how many guys do you see to go

home plate? They measure it from the bat to home plate. We see Miguel Rojas do that every bat that he has, even though he knows where the comfortable point is in that the batter's box. But they're all conditioned, most of them are conditioned to be the same place at the same time, the same place, and the adjustments are made from a swing stand point and

approach standpoint versus physically moving around. Interesting that Strawberry would do it, and he was quick enough and strong enough to be able to move forward closer to the picture by talking about moving forward and maybe even closer under play too. That's what struck me. Rick. We're talking about a player that was a thirty thirty player and he's even talking about making those type of adjustments. Yeah,

you do. You have to make adjustments. I'm still a firm believer that baseball quote unquote baseball, And I'm talking about the large picture with thirty teams and thirty organizations, with the defensive alignments that I'm seeing, it is no longer the shift being applied. How many infields play shallow, very very few, only in some circumstances if they move the infield in or the runner

a third in a close ballgame, late in the ballgame. My point being, there's a lot of base hits out there if you learn how to bunt and guys are hitting around two hundred that don't bunt that can run. My question is why exactly if you're struggling with runners in squirm position and you're struggling to have productive outs. Yeah, well we noticed what a bunt can do. With the bunt that Austin Barnes laid down in New York against the Mets

late in the ball game, no doubt. And Chris Taylor was able to split hits out there. It's not easy to get them. But if your one dimensional and that one dimension is not working, why do you not then open your arms with at least the thought and work on bunting. Bunting can be a weapon, not an inconvenience. I love it, Rick, That's why I like to look at life with a broad optical horizon. Really, Yes, you're so full of it. We'll set it back. Is our

time up? We'll leave it right there, Rick, please, we'll send it back to the studio. Tim All right, thanks lock, guys. We're in Pittsburgh with my guy that I predicted would finish in the top three of National League Rookie of the Year voting,

and he's making me look good so far. And I know that's his motivation on the mound and in between starts every single step he takes, and that is the one and only Gavin's Gavin, thanks a lot for the time. Did I feel like I tapped into your motivation? Oh yeah, yeah, definitely. Yeah, it's good to be on. Thanks for having me again. Hopefully I get a boom box after this, but yeah, it's gonna be. It's in the mail. Oh yeah, thanks, thanks for sure.

I just need the charger honestly. Okay, we'll get to the charger for the boom box I gave you last year, courtesy of Travis Matthews. Yeah, thank you, Travis. Hey, how about this. Not a lot of people realize Back in LA you and Bobby Miller are roommates, and he said he was a good roommate after that torturous flight last week from New York back to LA. He was leaving while you were coming home. Yeah. We got back at like I don't know, it was probably like eight

o'clock. Yeah, and he was going to the field that day. It was our off day. And I come in and I eat something, I order some DoorDash, eat something, and then Bobby wakes up and it's literally probably like twenty minutes Rob. Whenever I got home, he left and I went straight to bed after that. How many interactions do you guys have living together? Oh? Yeah, I mean we see each other all the time at home, at the field. Yeah, we're pretty much always together.

It sucks that he's been hurt, you know, this long, because he hasn't been on the road trips and stuff. But uh yeah, whenever I come home, like, we're always together pretty much. Can you tell his demeanor has changed in any way while he's been on the iol because he wants to pitch so badly. Oh yeah, he's itching the pitch. That's all he wants to do is pitch. I mean you can tell he's he's uh, you know, anxious to get back out there for sure. But no, he's got a good head on him. Do any of you cook?

Does anybody make a home cook meal? I don't. I don't cook. Bobby cooks. Bobby likes to cook. Bobby he just got we have this little pool area and there's a girl downstairs. He just got a bunch of Kershaws Kershaw's beef. Yeah, so he's been cooking that downstairs. Have you tried any of the kers Shaw beef. Is it what they say on the package? No curve balls? No, I actually haven't tried it. Bobby said it's really good though, So Bobby knows his way around the grill.

Yeah, he's a grill master, all right. That's a good roommate to have a guy that knows how to grill. Oh, I know he doesn't never cook me anything, but I'm sure I would if i. Gavin Stone is our guest, just had a first pitch here in Pittsburgh. How's the season been going for you? Obviously we know things seem to get into a rhythm, but for you personally, I'm sure you want more. Yeah, I mean, I'm just trying to win ball games for the club, to be honest, it's been a lot of fun so far. I don't get

a lot of strikeouts. Of the defense has telled me out a lot so and they've been great. We've had a great defense all year. But no, it's been a lot of fun. I'm enjoying it. Still got a long ways to go though. On the flip side strikeout pitchers, sometimes the guys behind them kind of get bored when they're not doing much stuff. But it seems like the pace that you pitch at and the way these guys play behind you. It works that you work fast and you induce a lot of

contact. Yeah, I mean it's always been something that I've done, is just work fast, try and get the guys back in the dugout, trying and put up more runs, get them off their feet as much as I can do you pay attention to that when people want to poke holes in your game and say, well, you know, he puts up zeros, but he doesn't strike out a lot of guys. No, I don't care.

Zero's is really it's the only thing that really matters. Do you feel like you're starting to find pitches that can dial up for you to be able to get that strike out when you need it? Oh? Yeah, there's opportunities certain pitches of certain areas. You know, the last couple of games, I've gotten a couple of strikeouts on fast on heaters up and heaters around the zone and stuff like that, and then I think that'll open up my change

up. And the slider has been good too, so you know, just trying to find ways to open up the change up and then and then you know, catching them off guard with other crap what's the biggest difference between the a year change up appears and the way your two seamer appears to hitters because they're both pitches down in the zone. Yeah, I'm honestly, I mean I'm not sure. I know two seamen has more vertical on it obviously, Uh, probably more run too, but I mean that feels the natural pronation

feels good out of my hand. Uh, And so that's why the two seam works really well. And then and then the change up I've had since I got into Pro Bowl, and it's, uh, you know, it's a it's a pitch where you gotta you gotta keep making adjustments on week to week. But no, they've been, they've been, honestly two of my best pitches this year. Thanks a lot for the time, Gavin, really appreciate talking to you, and like I've said many times, you're an easy

gutta root for. And we'll certainly uh find that battery for your boombox zoom banks. Appreciate it. There he is the man, Gavin Stone. Even when the power goes out, cool as a cucumber. We'll send it back to you in the studio. Get that guy a new battery for sure. Dodgers Baseball is brought to you by Shakey's Pizza Parlor, the official pizza partner of the Dodgers Audio Broadcast. MLB draft, he can get it up there. In the National League, Skiings has tied for the seventh lowest RA tenth lowest batting average against in time for the seventh most strikeouts thirty and he's making his fifth start tonight. Since being promoted on May eleventh, Skeens has had nine or more strikeouts, and two of his four starts he has thrown thirty seven pitches one hundred miles an hour and more of this season, the most any major league starter this year.

To date, he has thrown seven of the top ten hardest thrown pitches by Major leaguers, the other three being thrown by teammate Jared Jones, who the Dodgers saw last night. Last time out, he earned the win in the second game of a double header at Cole America Park in Detroit against the Tigers. He allowed two runs on three hits while striking out nine over six

Paul skeens all eyes on, the rookie out of LSU, less than a year removed from his national title run at LSU and his first ever start against the Dodgers. He'll throw the fastball hard. He's got another pitch that's a combination split finger two seemer sinker. He calls it a splinker. We'll see some of that tonight. But he has just been

dynamite for the Pirates. I just have to put the ball into play and are they going to go hunting on the first pitch fastball? And for Paxson, coming off kind of a strange outing last Wednesday in New York and no decision. He went just three innings in spite of the fact making just fifty pitches in the game, no runs, only two hits, but he did not find the strike zone often enough in that outing. Mother nature may have

something to say in this ball game. A little bit later on, there are storms expected to come through this area a little later in the evening.
