the division after taking two or three from the Rockies over the weekend. The Dodgers now head east again for a six game roach up firstop PNC Park in Pittsburgh with three against the Pirates. Former Pirate Tyler Klass now on the mound for the Dodgers first pitch coming up at three forty Between then and now, we got a lot to get to here on Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll hear from the Dodger manager Dave Roberts. We'll get your O TAWNI rewind

Just a few minutes, we'll hear from Rick Monday and Tim Nevern out at the Galpin Motors Broadcast booth well Sunday at Dodger Stadium, Stone pitched the gym as the Dodgers took care of Colorado. Gavin Stone got the start, and the young right hander was impressive again five shutout innings. He scattered just four hits along the way while striking out six, and he got early run support in the first.

Mookie Betts leading off with one of those Mooky moments. Mookie ready, and here comes the one one these swings hits, a triumph down the left field side. It has toward the corner, it is gone. A fifty second career leadoff home run for Mookie Betts and it's one nothing. Dodgers instant offense for Mookie. Lead off home run for Mookie Betts down the left field line.

His ninth home run of the season, fourth leadoff home run this season, as Tim never mentioned his fifty second leadoff home run of his career, putting him one shy of Craig b Show for fourth all time. Dodgers a one nothing lead, and they weren't done in the first, getting after Austin Gomber. Freddie Freeman as solo home run to center his seventh of the season. The Dodgers took a quick two to nothing lead in the third. Dodgers added to that lead thanks to Miguel Rojas to two pitch, there's a base

hit left center field. Freeman's gonna get waved around third. Trey Hill picks it up, gets the ball to second base, Piz goes first to third. It's a run scoring single for Miguel Rojas and the Dodgers lead it three to nothing. RBI single for Miguel, his tenth rbio of the season. Dodgers up three to nothing. That was more than enough for Gavin Stone the way he was pitching five shutout innings. Michael Grove pitched the scoreless two innings

after that. Alex Vesia a one, two three eighth. In the bottom of the inning, Freddie Freeman a sack Flaggy the Dodgers a four to nothing lead. Then the top of the ninth belonged to Daniel Hudson, who put up a zero. Dodgers shut out the Rockies on Sunday, four to nothing. Gavin Stone now six and two on this season. He had a five shutout inning performance on Sunday before that, seven shutout innings against the Mets. Dodgers take two or three from Colorado, their six shutout win of the year.

With the win, they're now thirty eight and twenty three. This afternoon, they start their second East Coast road trip in as many weeks. First stop Pittsburgh in a three game series against the Pirates. Former Pirate Tyler klassnow on the mound for the Dodgers and with Morlan's head out to the Galpin Motors broadcast booth as we say hello in Happy Tuesday, the Rick Monday and Tim

Nmer guys, Thanks Tim very much. Should be a nice night of the banks of the Allegheny River or on the north shore just across the river from downtown Pittsburgh, where the Dodgers and the Pirates meet Game one of a three game series and the Pirates come in twenty seven to thirty two, and they've got a Southern Californian on the mond from La Morana, Jared Jones, who has been an exciting young pitcher for the Pirates and for the Dodgers. Tonight,

former Pirate Tyler glasnow makes his first appearance against his first team. He was drafted by the Pirates in the fifth round and twenty eleven and Glass, now six and three, will oppose the Pirates for the first time tonight and Maul. When we look at this visit to Pittsburgh, it's always a special one. The Roberto Clemente Bridge is out there, the Clementi statue, statues of Willie Stargell, Honus Wagner, Bill Mazeroski, a lot of baseball history

here in Pittsburgh. And the Clementia Bridge is now repaired and I've been working in the full circle so we can actually use that coming and going to and from the ballpark in the hotel. That's the good news. And I think from the fan friendly area and a lot of parking lots across the Allegheny River, it's a wonderful area. This is one of the better views that you get on the road. In a ballpark where you look at what looks like

a giant diorama to a downtown area. And for the Dodgers kicking off this road trip, they go back east. Yes, they'll be in New York again. Hopefully the flight back home is not going to be as long as arduous as it was coming back after playing the Mets. But this Dodger ball club tim already to put things together a little bit better, in particular the bottom part of the order. And we see a different order at the bottom

today. It's going to be Gavin Lux again at second base, he'll beat in the seventh spot, and Miguel Rojas again to start at third base, and Chris Taylor is going to bat night and playing center. For Taylor, it's an opportunity. He has been on the bench quite a bit, and Dave Roberts wants to see him get in there as often as they can put him in there. But he has struggled so terribly. Thirty five strikeouts in seventy four at bats. Yeah, and I think on the breaking ball in

particular, so just a one oh eight average. He has just eight hits and seventy four at bats. But as Dave Roberts is saying the last home stand. Look, we're going to give Chris Taylor opportunity to basically flex his wings a little bit. You're not going to come out of his slope just sitting on the bench, so a chance to not only play, also be in center field. He can run the ball down as well as anybody on

top of that. So, combined with the top of the order and now a little bit more presence from the bottom of the order, I expect this Dodger ball club to really increase their lead. They start today with a seven game lead over the Padres in the Western Division. Giants are now nine out Arizona nine and a half, and then the Rockies will wait till next year, already sixteen games behind the Dodgers. This ballpark has an inviting right field

wall. It's known as the Clementy Wall. It actually happens to be twenty one feet high, exactly for Clementi's number twenty one. But over that is the Alleghany River. And Shohei Otani is playing in PNC Park for the first time ever. This completes the whole circuit for showt He'll now have played in every Major League park at least once, and that river might be a little inviting for him. They've had some splash down home run balls and he certainly

would be a candidate to hit one here the next three days. And the other part two is that twenty one foot high fence in right field goes over the right center and then it stops. It goes down at about twelve foot, but it's only three seventy five in that particular area of the ballpark, so it's rather inviting for a left handed batters a if you hit it down the line, elevate the ball, and even the lines look very inviting to

hit out of the ballpark. You go to right center. Tyler glasnow pitching four of the Dodgers tonight, six and three with a three Z four ERA, the major league leader in strikeouts with ninety five. Jared Jones, the twenty two year old from murta three and five and a three fifty five ERA. That's the pitching matchup as we get you sent for Game one, Pirates and Dodgers from Pittsburgh. Tim all right, thank you guys, as we

cut you down to first pitch. Dodger fans, get your game day meal on at Shaky's Pizza Parlor or you're Shaky's Pizza, Chicken and Mojo's at shakeys dot com. Coming up here on Dodgers on Deck, you'll hear from the manager Dave Roberts. We'll check in with David Vez a DV. He's gonna go one on one with Paul Skeeves on the young phenom pitchers for the Pittsburgh Pirates out of Peltro, number one pick in the draft a year ago.

We'll break down this pitching matchup today with Jared Jones out of Lamarada on the Mount. A lot of local flavor on this Pittsburgh Pirates team four Pirate Tyler glassnow going for the Dodgers. For leading, you have to first pitch for PNC Park. Thanks for being with us. I'm Tim Kates's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network. It is Morongo Casino, Dodgers on Dodgers on Deck, y'all on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball. Dodgers Empires started a three game

series from Pittsburgh. Tyler glassnow Jared Jones. The pitching matchup, first pitch set for three forty. This is the Otani Williams rewhy Dodgers shut out the Rockies on Sunday four to nine. Theme Mookie Betts went deep, Freddy Freeman win Deep, Bud schoey Otani Oh for three. He had a catcher's interference and got him on bass drew a walk, now hitting three twenty two on

this season. The Sotani Rewind brought to you by eto inns Oocha, Japan's number one green tea, available to your local diso stores, Amazon and eto win dot com. That's it t O e N dot com. This is Kirston's corner with Keirston and what's it? Kirson now joins us from PNC Park as Tyler glassnow gets the starts. He's back home in Pittsburgh where it all

started. More on that in a minute. Evan Phillips back over the weekend, fresh off the IL, picked up a save in the last series against the Rockies, and for Evan Phillips, Kirson being on the IL was an unfamiliar territory. Yeah, it really was. It's not something that he is used to at all, and it was a freak accident that put him on

the IL. So he was dealing with that hamstring strain that really just happened while he was playing catch, if I recall correctly, he said that like his cleet just kind of got stuck, and that's one of those things where he thought it was going to be He's like, you know, he knew the hamstring was going to take some time, but he thought it was really going to be just like a week or two to let it heal and then

be able to get going. But it took about four weeks for him being down, and he said he had to learn kind of a lot about himself and just how frustrating it was. And you know what he told me, the biggest thing for him was was he remained locked and like he was very in tune with everything that was happening kind of around the team and watching the games even when the team's on the road, and would kind of work on different things in regards like making sure he had his pitch grips the ways that

he likes them, because he couldn't really throw full speed at first. You know, he could still move his arm, but he had he was limited due to that hamstring injury. So once he said that he was able to like be you know, it's time to like start the build up and like throw with full strength. He was like immediately, he was like, it's

go time. So he was being thrilled just to be activated, to be able to help this team win, and so for him to feel like he picked up where he left off, that was the results said that, and he felt that that was really good for him as well. Tyler Glass now gets the start in this series opener. The Heart High school product was drafted by the Pirates, went through their farm system, made his debut in twenty sixteen, pitched for two and a half years before being dealt to Tampa Bay.

So it's a homecoming of sorts for Tyler. Yeah, it really is. This is where he started everything. So you know, for him, I haven't had the chance to talk to him just yet about what it's like to return to the place, you know, where you day started your big

league career. But with talking to Dave Roberts just about Tyler Glass, now he was saying, you know, I had asked him, just what do you remember from then, and obviously that was quite some time ago, and so he was like, I don't necessarily remember the specifics, but he doesn't remember him being a very talented arm and obviously he has done really good things with his career because the ace of the Dodgers now, so he just remembers

just kind of like being that big, built, explosive arm and kind of how he's seen that play out. It's been awesome for him to witness. So he did say that he doesn't necessarily know exactly how Tyler feels coming back two years. It has been some time, but to be able to get

the start here that is just something that's really special. It's a beautiful ballpark, and so he said, he you sure he has some good memories here, So hopefully this will be a fun one to add just kind of he's not a very sentimental guy, but hopefully this will add to the list of things he can reflect on when he's done. Absolutely curist to appreciate it. We'll check in with you after the game. Kurs is brought to by Cars for Kids, the easiest way to get rid of your old car. Donate

We'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup. David bat segoes one on one with the Altoral High School's own the number one pick in last year's draft, and the talk of baseball Paul's schemes that's coming up in just a little bit. Possibill get you an injury report and we'll hear from the Dodger

manager Dave Roberts when we come back. Dodgers Pirates first pitch from Pittsburgh at three forty. I'm Tim Kasi's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network. Well, this is Marongo Casino Dodgers hunting on your home for LA Dodgers Baseball. Marongo Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Tuesday afternoon Marongo Casino Resort and spat a Grand Slam, four good times leading up to first pitch of Pittsburgh Dodgers and the Pirates. First pitch set for three forty. He's the LA Dodgers injury report.

Is it about UCLA healthy? Official medical partner the Los Angeles Dodgers. Max Mundsey on the IL with the oblique injury, Joe Kelly on the I L with the shoulder strain. Ryan Brasier on the I L at the right capstrain. Bobby Miller on the right shoulder inflammation has made a couple of minor league rehab starts with the Ranch of Kuckamonga. He has set to pitch again Clayton Kershaw, Bruce Dargraderal, Kyle Hurt, Tony Gonsolin, Dustin may All

in the sixty day il recovering from arm injuries. Let's head back out to P and C Park and check out with the Dodger Skipper. Questions for Dave Dave? Can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with Dave Roberts. You know what I've as I've gotten to spend more time with Tyler. He's very worldly. I think he's very well rounded, very intellectual. I'm obviously a very good competitor, and I do remember,

you know, the young Tyler Glass now Pittsburgh big arm. Garrett Cole was here. You know, Charlie Morton I think was here then, and so they've always had good arms, and so it is interesting to see that this is his first start since he hasn't been with the Pirates, you know, pitching here, yea, with what he's been doing as of blade what do you think is kind of been one of the keys to the success for Henri sent I think with Tyler, like with it with most pitchers, is

just getting strike one. Hitters are very aggressive with him, you know, you try not to run counts with him, get deep into counts, and so when he's getting ahead, certainly with his fastball, it just opens everything up. And so I think there are certain outings where he's just been really good with the fastball, and others when it's really special is when that curveball

and slider are working as well. So see what he has tonight. But I know he's excited to get back out here and pitch in Pittsburgh today. Ivey pleaded guilty and MLB clear. To Otani, I know we've talked about this, but do these things still register for you guys at all? I mean, it's one seems like it's kind of like the final step of closure, like did this matter at all? Kind of getting out at all?

Jack, I think that it's it's a formality, I guess, I honestly, as we haven't been following it. So I hope, as you said, it's closure. That'd be great if it's closure. So I think we're all we've all been ready to move on. Yeah, from when this started, I mean it has only been like a couple months. Like, did this kind of all get resolved quickly? Or about as quick as you could have hoped? From where? Especially with all the uncertainty that there was at

the start. But I think everyone did a great job. Yeah, considering all that was going on and for it to kind of come to a close now, I think it's I think the process went great. Yeah, is a big reason for that, the way Otani handled it, I would assume. So I'm very cooperative. Yeah, all right, there's Dave Roberts down the dugout brought to you by Service Titan. Dave Roberts is a Titan in his own right. He's got a plan before his team hits the field.

You need one for your growing contracting business too. Let Service Titan help you implement him. They're more at Service Titan dot Com. When we come back here on Wrongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll check in with the David Vessay as we leach up to first pitch Dodgers and Pirates. I'm Tim Kasi's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network. I've never been to PNC Park, but everybody talks about how great of a stadium is to visit as fans, as baseball fans in general, just to see a game there. But do the players like it as much? Yeah, you're right, Tim, The fans love coming here. There's a lot of Dodger fans that made the trip to Pittsburgh and it has a great view

of the city skyline and the Roberto Clemente Bridge has reopened. The last couple of years it's been closed for renovations, so it's open again. And as far as the players go, I asked a couple today, Miguel Vargas, who played here with the Dodgers last year. He said he does love playing here because of the batter's eye in center field. It's very green. You could pick up the baseball the pitcher's hands really well. And I asked Jason Hayward the same thing. I said, Hey, do you like playing here?

Because remember he spent so many years in the same division, playing for the Cubs and coming here three different times. And he said, yeah, you know, I actually do appreciate the city skyline when you're playing here. But I said, does that even matter to players? He said, yeah, it matters to a certain extent. But I do love that hitters I as well. So the hitters are all in agreement that hitters I and straightaway

center field really helps them pick up the baseball. As far as Showy Otani is con concern David p and Z Park, it's a place he's never been, right. Yeah, this is the final stadium in Major League Baseball that Otani has not played in and tonight. This will be the first time he can say that he's played in all thirty Major league stadiums. So you can cross another stadium off the Otani list and we'll see whether or not he can hit. Went into the Alleghany River, that would be special. Over the

Clemente wall out there in right field, that would be nice. David is driven by Ford Series, America's best selling truck for forty seven years in counting. Ford gives your freedom of choice CAS Hybrid and Electric. Head to your southern California Ford dealers and find yours Ford f Series built tough. Dave Roberts. We know he was the star at UCLA college baseball fan and player there,

but it's got some eyes on college softball. Dave. Yeah. Can you believe that Dave Roberts has a niece, Ella Parker, that plays for Oklahoma softball team and they just won their semi final match to go on to the finals to take on Florida. It was a walk off for the Oklahoma women's softball team and his niece, Ella Parker, was a triple shy of the cycle in the game, and he was a little bit late coming out for betting practice because he was keeping eyes on it, and he was very

proud of his niece when he was telling the story that in this game that Oklahoma won on a walk off hit that they I guess the opposing team intentionally walked the girl in front of his niece with two outs to pitch to her and she was able to get a two out RBI BA hits. So he was very proud of his niece, Ella Parker, and I'm sure he'll be

watching the finals coming up in the next couple of days. The best out of three series is how they do it in women's college softball, Boomers sooner, congratulations to her and her team in the world series Best of three. Dave looking at the lineup today in center field, Chris Taylor getting a start this afternoon. Yeah, and this is part of what Dave Roberts talked about. He's got to give Taylor opportunities like this if he's on the roster.

The only way Chris Taylor is going to have an opportunity to come out of his slump is to play. I know Miguel Vargus was looking forward to an opportunity to start in one of these games, but Taylor certainly. I mean he plays once a week. He's really been a non factor, good or bad. But with the Dodgers bottom third of the order starting to come alive,

they have a different three at the bottom tonight. Luck's at second, hitting seventh, Roja sitting eighth at third, and Chris Taylor hitting ninth in center field. So a little bit different of a look as Jason Hayward moves up one spot in the lineup with Lux being dropped to seventh. Dave, I'm curious in Pittsburgh in your time there, even in the last twenty four

hours, is there a buzz about the Pirates with these young arms? Paul Skeins who you're gonna talk to at about fifteen minutes Number one pick a year ago, Jared Jones at a Loamorada high school getting the start. Today. They got some young talent, albeit from southern California. But that's a young team that's doing okay. Yeah, the pitching is really good and there seems

to be a little bit more optimism this year. Are Monkst Pirate fans here in downtown Pittsburgh than there has been the last eight or nine years that I've been coming here, so you know, there is a little bit more optimist and excitement with some of these young pitchers. The offense for the Pirates is the problem. They really don't have much of an offense, but they have

great pitching. So it'll be interesting to see how many fans come out for Paul Skeen's day here in Pittsburgh tomorrow night as he faces the Dodgers for the first time in his young career. You know TV is gonna go one on one with Paul Skeen's coming up in about fifte minutes day, but we appreciate we'll check back in with you in just a couple of minutes. Coming up, you'll hear from the former number one overall pick el Tooral High School's own

Paul Skeens. We'll also break down this pitching matchup. We'll hear from Rick Monday again. But up next your Dodgers magical moment don't go anywhere, lead you up to Dodgers and Pirates on this Tuesday afternoon, first pitch at three forty from Pittsburgh. We go back to August twenty third, twenty seventeen, the Dodgers in Pittsburgh four game series against the Pirates. Rich Hill was on the mound that August ninth, and what a night he had. The

two swung on and missed. Rich Hill tonight has retired the first eighteen batters that he has faced in this ball game, and they struck out eight. Pittsburgh Pirates three balls, two strikes, two outs, nobody on three in a row and it's Paul strike three and rich Hill has not allowed a runner through eight innings of play. Marte trying to end it, and he hits the ground ball to Hopper in between. Hot picked up by Siegert, throws

the first and we are headed for extra innings. Rich Hill has not allowed a hit through nine innings. Rich Hill had a perfect game going to the ninth and air in the ninth inning still kept the no hitter alive. He got three outs to go to extra innings with the no hitter after nine innings bought. In the bottom of the tenth on a two to one pitch, Josh Harrison hit a home run, the only hit of the game for the Pittsburgh Pirates, wins it in a walk off fashion and a one nothing win.

And now joined by David Basse Here's La Dodgers broadcast therein and World Series champion Dodger Rick Monday. Well, life on tour with the Dodgers and Rick Monday continues in Pittsburgh. Rick, great to be here in the Steel City. Hey, it was a nice long homestand huh. Three games back on the East Coast and then we head back to New York, which, by

the way, I'm going to make a prediction. After the final game in New York against the Yankees over the weekend, I'm predicting that we will not be on the plane for thirteen and a half hours to make a five hour flight back to LA. In the meanwhile, Dodgers have six games to win on this road trip and might as well take advantage of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Glass Now is going It's going to be interesting in this series because there's going to be some Southern California products that the Dodgers will be facing pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and so we'll have an eye on that one. But for Glass, now, he's one of those guys David that could control the game, and that's exactly what he attempts to do tonight. This is not the same Pirates team that the Dodgers saw last year, and that team took it

to the Dodgers. But this is a better pitching Pirates team exactly. And you start to look at what they've been able to do from a pitching standpoint. I mean, it may surprise little in the middle of the pack if you talk about earn ren averages. But the problem for the Pirates has not been their pitching. The problem for the Pirates has been their run production,

and that's been very, very low. In fact, they're twenty fifth in hitting, they're twenty second in run score, they're twenty fourth in home runs that have been hit. You know, they've allowed just a two to thirty nine batting average against their pitching. So it's not the pitching's fault. It's just been the hitters have not been producing runs. It feels like this three

game series, Rick, it's going to be a pitchers duel. Like you mentioned, every one of these games, do you feel like low scoring games with the way the Dodger offense has been going, I would look at that, and you know, if you look at this lineup tonight, it's going to be Chris Taylor starts in center field, He'll ban in the nine spot, Miguel Rojas is going to be at third base. Everything else kind of remains the same with Hayward in right, Lux is at second base, and

this Dodger buclub. You know, here's the thing. When they the Dodgers, when they give up in a game, they have the fewest number of games that they've allowed five runs or more only thirteen. New York Yankees fifteen, Baltimore Oriarls sixteen, Kandasll Royals Seventeen's good news. The bad news is when they allow five runs or more, the Dodgers have the lowest amount of wins. In fact, zero, They're zero to thirteen when they give up five runs or more, which by the way, does not happen that often.

Yeah, it's a little surprising. Considering how much this offense was on full throttle the first month of the season. But they have to find a way to get back there. Yeah, and I think also with Chris Taylor in that lineup today, Dave Roberson's come out and say, look, we're going to give him ample opportunity in order to come out of a very difficult spot from an offensive standpoint. He's not put the ball into play. And I go back to what I've said about Chris Taylor the last three or four

years. Pound for pound, Chris Taylor, when he's he's hitting the ball, I think hits it as hard as anybody in Major League Baseball. Has been a challenge for him. Unfortunately, it hit the ball consistently. When you look at the Dodgers and the bottom third of the order, it feels

like they're starting to show some sign of life. Yeah. The averages have come up depending upon who's making up that threesome at the bottom of the order, and that just really helps solidify this Dodger ball club when you look at

one through nine in their positions. Wish by the way, I want to take a just a second, just a preview coming up a little bit later on you're going to have a pregame, guest, I mentioned local products, Southern California products are on the mound, and you've got a big find on your pre game today. That's right. The biggest rookie star in Major League

Baseball, Paul Skeins, will join us. He's pitching against the Dodgers tomorrow, and his favorite player growing up in Orange County was show Heyo Tani. Really, so you'll hear from Paul Steed. I know you had a pretty good interview and already lined up because I could tell there's an extra bounce in your step. You know me, Rick, especially the first game of a road trip. The Dodgers are in Pittsburgh, and we're joined right now by tomorrow's starter from southern California, El Toro High School, Paul Skeens, who's pitching for the Pirates now, A champion of the people, a champion of Orange County. Thanks a lot for the time. Yeah, thank you for having me man blown away being at PNC Park and seeing that stash in full glory here. Yeah. No, it's a it's a great place, and I'd like to think of it as

a good stash. So thank you. I know everybody thinks of you as a national champion rightfully, so with LSU. But this started, this journey started in southern California and specifically at El Toro High School. I talked to your high school coach, Coach Gonzales, today, and he kind of lets you know that you were too big to be a catcher. How did that news go over? No, I mean I kept doing it for a couple of years. Yeah. The nice thing is, uh, you know,

for a long time, I didn't really have restrictions. He let me catch. I didn't really have restrictions on what positions I could play, so caught for a while. But obviously it's just pitching, though, He told me, back in your junior year, there was one playoff game where you pitched seven scoreless innings, and that seemed to be kind of the bridge to your senior year. Did you feel that way too, Yeah, for sure,

because I hadn't started in my high school. I mean I started on the freshman team my freshman year, but after that I didn't start until that game. I was a closer that year, so yeah, I went seven scoreless and then it kind of, you know, the writing was on the wall that I should probably start the next year, and so that's kind of where

my focus went. I don't know if you want this out publicly, but he told me that back at Eltora High School, the baseball team would have a Halloween night and you dressed up as the coach from the Bad News Bears. Where did that come from? No, we had a group that was my senior year, and we had a group of probably four or five other guys who were players from the movie, and so we just you know,

made it a whole charade, just run around, brought them. Probably shouldn't say this publicly, but we brought a motorcycle and or like one of those like little uh I don't even know, just one of the electric bikes or something like that. And yeah, so it was that was a fun game. Paul Skeens is our guest as we get set for first pitch here in Pittsburgh at PNC Park. Paul's pitching tomorrow against the Dodgers. Anything when you think about that, a lot of people back home will be watching you face

the Dodgers. Did you have any fandom of the Dodgers growing up a little bit. I've been to one Dodgers game in my life and it was at Dodgers Stadium and that was, you know, a surreal experience just to you know, watch a game there. So you know, I paid attention to that. My my grandpa was more of a Dodgers fan than than I was or my family was. But no, it's gonna be cool. When you grew up as a high school player, you know, you're you're pretty good.

Was there anybody that you try to emulate or at that point in time, are you just yourself a little bit? Just I sell, But definitely seeing Otani do it do what he was doing with the Angels, because I was an Angels fan seeing him hit and pitch that kind of you know, gave me some sm inspiration to be able to do that at the next level. So just kept working and you know, did that as long as I could. How good of a hitter was Paul Skans in high school? I

was good? Uh, I was. I was a better hitter than I was a pitcher when I was in high school. But I mean I didn't get drafted for a reason. Yeah. Yeah, Paul. Your family has a background in the military, right, you went to Air Force your first two years of college. How much did you see in your future maybe being a fighter pilot for the Navy. That was the goal, you know,

since I was probably like a freshman or sophomore in high school. I just wanted to fly and kind of saw baseball as a as an avenue to do that, you know, as a way to get you know, an education and that kind of thing. But my goal was was to fly. Yeah, the Air Force Academy had Paul Skins for a couple of years. Did you out grow that too? Yeah? I agree, fighters. I could

probably fight, uh fly some other stuff, but I agree fighters. When you look back at just this journey, how have you been able to handle the attention that you've gotten at seemingly every step of your baseball journey, just staying present, taking it day to day and doing the work that I need to do to to go out there and compete, you know, making it simple like that. It's has definitely helped you. Mentioned O Tani was kind

of your inspiration. He's very routine oriented. How much are you devoted to your five day routine? Really devoted? That's something that I think the Air Force Academy was really good for, not just for baseball, but you know with life, just kind of instelling a routine and uh and everybody who goes there. So yeah, that's that's that's a big part of of you know, how I go about my business. You're way past being a fan. So how much of the competitor inside of you is looking forward to facing Otani

tomorrow night? Yeah, I'm excited. It'll be fun. The Japanese media swarmed you. What was that about. Yeah, I don't know, that was a little bit of surprise. Thanks a lot for the time. Great meeting you for the first time, and I can understand why everybody at El Toro High School love Paul Skeens. So thanks a lot for the time. Yeah, thank you. Very much. There he goes Tim one of the biggest rookie stars on the rise in Major League Baseball, Paul Skins out of

El Toro High School. We'll send it back to you in the studio. Yeah. Thanks, a lot of DVAH from Eltoral High School to the Air Force Academy and then at LSU where he got a lot of attentions. Jared Jones on the mound for the Pirates three and five, three fifty five ERA, twenty two year old rookie right hander, second round pick of the Pirates in twenty twenty out of Lamarada High School, making his twelve start this season. He throws a four seam fastball in the upper nineties. Also throws a slider sometimes the curb, and a lot of fastballs from Jared Jones. Last time out four and a third in seven runs, five hits, and a loss to the Tigers.

This is his first time facing his hometown team, the Dodgers. Tyler Glasnow on the mound six and three three zero four ERA for the Dodgers, thirty year old right hand in his ninth season. He was drafted and made his major league debut with the Pirates before being traded to the Rays after two seasons of the big leagues. Making his thirteen start this year, he leads the

major leagues with ninety five strikeouts. Last time out, seven innings, two runs, two hits, eight strikeouts and a no decision against the Pirates. This will be his first time at PNC Park since being traded in twenty eighteen to the Tampa Rays. Can't say he pitches well though, at PNC Park. When with the Pirates, he was just one and five with a five to twenty three e eighty two strikeouts over seventy five in two third indings.

Jared Jones, he's three and five. Struggled in his last outing, but in his prior starts sixty three and a third innings covered, he has struck out seventy. He is susceptible to the home run, He's allowed eleven home runs this year, but he can throw the fastball constantly, running it up there in triple

digits. Another guy with a high octane fastball as Toddler Glasnow. He's the major league leader in strikeouts and he could be the first in the big leagues to get to one hundred of those tonight. Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see in glasshow Also, he's handled the lefties just a one seventy three average. Right handers won seventy five average. He's had seven home runs

hit off of him. But when you look at Glasnow overall, a one to seventy four batting average against him, and it's even below two hundred with runners in scoring position. Dodgers have to be careful of this pirate ball club. The Pirates have won eight of the last thirteen against the Dodgers. Dodgers, meantime, have won five for the last six overall. Jared Jones against Tyler Glassnow it's the Dodgers and the Pirates coming up from Pittsburgh. First pitches
