And now your host for Marongo Casino Dodgers on te Tam Chase, Hi, everybody, and welcome in to Morongo Casino Dodgers on deck. Hope you're well. You're Los Angeles Dodgers. They sit at fifty and thirty one on this season, first place atop the NL West, and they are running away with the division, an eight game lead over the Padres going into tonight's game, ten games up on the Diamondbacks, eleven and a half games up on the San Francisco Giants. After back to back wins over the White Sox, the
Dodgers now go for the sweep on the south side. Gavin Stone on the mount of this series finale. First pitch from Chicago is coming up at five to ten. Coming up over the next hour. As we lead you up to first pitcher on Wrongo Casino Dodgers on Deck, you will hear from Dodger manager Dave Roberts, David Vaseego's one on one with t Oscar Hernandez will dive deeper into this pitching matchup. We'll get your magical moment of the day.
Shortly, we'll check in with Kirsten Watson, who last night was busy after the game, and in just a few minutes we'll check in with Rick Monday and Tim Neffer at the Gallpin Motors Broadcast booth. Well last night at Chicago, the bullpen picked up for Bobby Miller as the Dodgers hang on for the win. Bobby Miller got the start, the right hander, making his second start since returning from the IL. He lasted just two innings. He gave
him three runs on four hits while swalking three. The Dodgers offense, though gave Bobby Miller the early lead to work with. Show Hey Otani let off the Gang the game with a bang. A home run is nationally leading twenty fourth home run this season. The Dodgers had a one to nothing lead.
Bobby Miller, though gave it back and some in the bottom of the first, Andrew ben attending a two run home run, El Jimenez an RBI double, and the White Sox put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first to take a three to one lead and the third, though the Dodgers big boppers were at it again, O'tani had walked to lead it off two batters later. Freddie Freeman, here's the two one offer, Mandy Schwan shits at the left field pretty well, let's care attend me back to the
wall. That's got a home run Tonnie Freeman and opposite field Homer ties the game at three. Home run number twelve for Freeman, and the Dodgers have come back to tie it in the top of the third three to three to run home run for Freddy Freeman, his twelfth of the season RBI's number forty seven and forty eight. Dodgers tied the game at three in the fourth, the bottom of the Dodgers' lineup setting the table. Cavin Lucks at one out
walk. Miguel Vargas singled to left two batters later, two on two out for show Hey, Townny. He's continuing his throwing program. Yesterday he was throwing out the ninety feet on flat ground oh one pitch ground ball into right field of base hit lux will score and the Dodgers take the lead. Vargas rounding second and he is in the third and show hey O Towny with his second run batted in Tonight HARBYI single for show Hey. Dodgers take the lead
of four to three. Oh Tawney's on fire driven in at least one run in his last nine games, matching the franchise record. He's batting three to zero six with ten home runs in twenty two RVII in twenty two games this season. For this month, that is, Bobby Miller went the two innings
and gave up the three runs. The Dodgers' bullpen they picked it up they needed to get twenty one out Michael Peterson two innings, Johann Ramirez, Anthony Bonda play trying, and Daniel Hudson and then the ninth inning that belonged to Evan Phillips. He got the ninth and he put up a zero. Dodgers win it last night four to three. Rookie Michael Peterson gets the win,
his second in the big leagues. Evan Phillips say number thirteen. Dodgers now fifty to thirty one on this season at the halfway point, Dodgers first place in the NL West, and tonight they go for the sweep of the Chicago White Sox. Gavin Stone on the mound from the south side and with more we head out to the Galloping Motors broadcast booth as we say hello to Rick Monday and Tim Neffert guys, Thanks very much, Tim. Really nice evening
here in Chicago. Some white puffy clouds upstairs, blue skies as we get ready for the third and final game of this three game set between the Dodgers and the White Socks. Dodgers with a chance to pull off a three game sweep. They won three to nothing in game one two nights ago. Last night a one run win four to three. Sho Hey. Otani has had RBIs in both and tonight Otani with one RBI, which set a new all
time Dodger franchise record with RBIs in ten straight games. And they got the game off last night in good fashion with a leadoff home run, the eighth of his career. Well, he's done an amazing job taking over in that lead on spot with the absence of Mookie Benz with the fractured hand. It's
incredible Tony came in last night. You start to look at what he's done as a leadoff hitter, well, hitting it to four to thirty three as he entered that ball game, And for the Dodgers, they understand full well. So look, you need to take advantage of opportunities, and the opportunity is against the ball club. That is really struggling, to say the least, twenty one and sixty the White Sox record. In fact, we start
to talk about futility. Not only have lost thirty of the last thirty seven, they have scored in just two of their last thirty innings that they have played. They scored three runs in the first inning last night, and they scored two runs in the seventh inning on Sunday in Detroit. But for the Dodgers, they need to take advantage of a ball club right now, and they've got a good guy going on the mound, Gavin Stone, in search
of his ninth victory of the season. Now you talk about the runs, two hundred and forty six runs scored for the White Sox, that's thirty fewer than the next closest team, The Marlins have two hundred and seventy six, and it's one hundred and fifty nine fewer than the Dodgers have scored. They've
scored four hundred five on the season. T Oscar Hernandez back in the lineup for the Dodgers, missing the last couple of games out due to the death of his grandfather, and he is back now in batting second right in between Otani and Freeman. Is there concern last night's starter and that being Bobby Miller, who lasted only two winnings, and that was three runs on four hits. He made sixty pitches and only thirty three of those were in the strike
zone. And that's two consecutive games for Bobby Miller's had a difficult in a very high pitch count. Of course, the story in his rehab starts, Dave Roberts is alluding to it. As it look it was inconsistent command of the strike zone. We saw the same thing last night. The good news, the great news, if you will, the bullpen seven scoreless innings among six different relievers coming out of the bullpen. And when you talk about the
Dodger bullpen, they have pitched thirteen straight scoreless innings. The Dodger pen has the second lowest ra in all of baseball, only behind the Cleveland Guardians pen Cleveland two point three four right now the Dodgers three point zero two. So the bullpen has been getting it done. Yeah, they've been getting it done. And as you alluded to, also, Tioscar Hernana is back in the lineup batting second, and Gavin Lux at second base. Mcel Rojas another start
at short stop. Boys, if you're doing a terrific job. KK Hernaniz gets to start at third base, and Austin Barnes is going to be behind the plate in bat night. Gavin Stone having a terrific season. He is eight and two with an era just a bit over three. He will get the start, the right hander facing Eric Fetti, last year's KBO MVP. Fetti is five and two of the White Sox with an era just over three as well. Vetti against Stone. That's the pitching matchup. As we get
you set for this one in Chicago. Tip all right, thank you guys, as we count you down to first pitch. Dodger fans, get your game. Dave Meal on a Shaky's Pizza Parlor. Order your Shaky's Pizza and chicken and Mojo's right now. Shaky's dot Com coming up here on Dodgers on dekil. Here from the manager Dave Roberts. We'll check out with David Vasse. Of course, he'll go one on one with Taey Oscar Hernandez, who is back in the lineup tonight for the Dodgers. We'll dip deeper into this
pitching matchup. We'll get your magical moment going back to nineteen fifty nine on next. So you're o Tani rewind as we'll hear from Showy Otani as well. So he leads up to first pitch on this Wednesday, Dodgers and White Sox from Chicago. Thanks for being with us. I'm Tim Katson's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio network is Morono Casino, Dodgers on, Dodgers on deck y'all on the official home of LA Dodgers Baseball. Dodgers and White Socks from Chicago.
Gavin Stone, Eric Fetti the bitching matchup. First Fitch said for five ten, this is the Otani rewide. Now the two two swang on and well hit to right field heading back toward the wall is Tommy fam He will leap and it's gone. It's into the pulppen. That's a home run for show Haltani. It is one nothing Dodgers. He goes back to touch first. He thinks he missed it. Now he goes to second base. Otani with his twenty fourth home run, his fifty ninth RBI, and he ties an
all time Dodger record with RBIs in nine straight games. Roy Campanella in nineteen fifty five did it, And now show Hey Otani has joined him on that list. Oh one pitch ground ball into right field of base it lux will score and the Dodgers take the lead. Vargas rounding second and he is in the third and show Hey Otani with his second run batted in Tonight, Show hey Otani goes two for four last night with the lead off home run,
his ninth home run in the last fourteen games. He also has the RBI single to put the Dodgers in front four to three in the fourth inning. That would be the last run score by either team. As show Heyotani now hitting three twenty on this season. And afterwards Kirsten Watson caught up with him. Show Hey, when you look at this month of June, you lead the National League in home runs. Has there been anything different for your swing or do you feel like You've unlocked something this month? It just really swinging at pitches I'm supposed to swing, swing at within the zone and making sure that I'm laying off pitches outside the zone. Okay, you added another leadoff home runs and stepping in from Ki
Bets. What is your approach in this now situation? And nothing in particular. It's just, you know, just trying to make sure that I have quality at bad and something that I think is good for the team as well. So I'm gonna continued to do that. Yesterday we saw James Paxton in the bullpen put a shutout performance today behind Bobby Miller. How did you see this bullpen? Just have another amazing performance and support him on Mascot, Montoni,
the mines, the solid work overall throughout the whole season. Just you know, ideally you want to put up a couple more runs, so it's going to be a little bit easier for the bullpen. Congratulations on this win tonight's show, Hey, thank you, all right, there's Karsten Watson with show. Hey Otani. Bruce dar Grader Aal Joe Kelly, Tony Gonsoland does to may All on the sixty day I all right, let's head back out to Chicago and check out the Dodger manager. Any questions for Dave Dave? Can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with Dave Roberts Dave. Tomorrow's the deadline for the first tier of All Star voting. Will Smith, Ti, Oscar Hernandez among other players that might have a case. What do you believe as far as them being All Stars? Yeah, it's it's a
no brainer. I think Will is an easy one. As far as talent, He's one of the top two or three catchers in the game, let alone the National League, and you just look at the numbers and what he's done on the production side, performance side, it's you know, the All Star Game is interesting because it's a lot of it is based on popularity and certain fan bases that are more active voting, And my encouragement for for the Dodger fans is to, you know, get off your hands and start voting
for your players because you look at all these other fan bases that the players aren't nearly as having the seasons that our guys are having, and they're leading the fan voting. So that's what's disappointing for me as a manager, because the players are not going to promote themselves. So it's about the fans, you know, supporting the play their players. Ta Oscar Hernandez leads all National League outfielders and home runs and RBIs has he been better than what you even
expected? He is? He has? You know, he he's he has been. The short answer is, yes, he's controlling the zone a lot better. I've talked about him with guys in scorn position. You know, how he performs and what he does and runs batten in matters and Pitchers that pitch in those spots will tell you they pitch hitters differently, and hitters that are in those spots will tell you that they're pitched differently. And so for you to be good in that spot and driving runs is meaningful. So he's
having a tremendous season. All right. There's Dave Roberts down the dugout encouraging you Dodger fans to get out and vote at Dodgers dot com slash Vote brought to you by Service Titan. Joining Tim Kats on Dodgers on Deck. I accept everybody for who they are. This is Dodger insider David Bass. David now joins us from Chicago in the series finale from the South Side and David tay Oscar Hernandez. He's back, Yes, he is. After dealing with some personal
issues, some family issues. He was able to make it back to Chicago last night. Tim he was available off the bench. He showed up before first pitch, but obviously Dave Roberts did not go to him. So he is back in the starting lineup. He is hitting second behind Shohei Otani. Austin Barnes is catching behind the plate tonight. And keep this in mind, I know the All Star Phase one balloting is ending at some point tomorrow.
Taoscar Hernandez has the most home runs and RBIs of any National League outfielder, and I don't really believe he's getting the do respect this season that he deserves. I know, mistery relevant Jerkson Profar, he has a flair for the dramatics starting to charge mounds again last night. But taoscar Hernandez and Profar have been the two most productive National League outfielders in a position that usually is stacked. Those are the two best guys we play. Had eighty one games halfway
point of the season, David and the Dodgers have won fifty games. Pretty impressive. Yeah, if you look at the Dodgers the last four full seasons ten they won one hundred plus games. They're on pace again to win one hundred games exactly this season. That would make it five consecutive full seasons where the Dodgers have won one hundred or more games. Think about how spoiled this
fan base is. I know they want the ultimate prize, but certainly you have to enjoy the ride in the summer where the Dodgers, going back to twenty thirteen basically have won the division every year except one season when the Giants had that fluke year and won one hundred and seven games. The Dodgers won one hundred and six and twenty twenty one. So it's been a tremendous ride. And this season I believe has met the expectations for the team, and
Shoho Tani has met in the expectations. He's threatening for triple Crown status here so far at the midway points. So I don't know what there is to complain about, but I'm sure somebody will find something. You mentioned the show, hey Otani, and the fans look at what he's done, David at the leadoff spot since Mookie Betts went down with the fractured hand, and now the fans are arguing he should be the lead off hit or the rest of
the way. Is there any chatter that are you hearing that being with this team, Well, the reason why the door has been left open is because Dave Roberts hasn't shot it down. He had opportunities to shoot it down completely, but he did leave the door open, and I believe the reason why he did is because Mookie Bets will have missed at least six weeks and even though he may be back and may be healthy, the feeling in that left
hand may not be the same that it was before he broke it. So I could see Dave Roberts deciding, you know what, We're gonna give Muki a soft and not put him in that pressure cooker spot of the leadoff position for the first seven to ten games. But to me, Tim, once Mookie gets his feet under him and gets the feelback in the batter's box, no question he should be the Dodgers' leadoff hitter. David is driven by the Ford F Series, America's best selling truck for forty seven years in counting.
Ford gives you freedom of choice gas hybrid electric. Head to your southern California Ford dealers and find yours Ford F Series built tough. Gavin Stone has been a gym this year, no pun intended. David eight wins already on this season, and you can make a strong caseman one of the best starting pitchers in all of baseball. He really has zan. Look when you look at Gavin Stone, I know he pitched a couple of times last year. He still has his rookie status, and I know Joey Yortiz of the Brewers is
having a great rookie year. I'm sure there's been a couple of other guys showed to Imanaga. But to me, Gavin Stone should be right up there as far as consideration at this on in time for National League Rookie of the Year. And honestly, Tim, if he has a good one or two more starts, he may be making a case for himself to be part of the National League All Star Team. Tyler Glass now, uh, Gavin Stone. I feel like those are the two pitchers that have pitched all season long
and deserve consideration, no doubt about a great stuff, DV. We'll check back with you in just a couple of minutes. broadcaster and World Series champion Dodger Rick Monday. Rick the Dodgers looking for the sweep and Gavin Stone is a pretty good pitcher to have on the mound. Well he is, and he's been pitching very very well, Tim Nevertt and I will talk about that a little bit later on on the pregame show. But he's not doing a bad job. And that's an understatement. I mean he's eight and two with an ERA just a fraction above three, and it's even below that in the four starts this month. In the month of June,
he's undefeated. Last night, all four runs were driven in by two players show Hey Otani and Freddie Freeman. Not sure if you heard this, Rick, but around three point thirty yesterday afternoon, Freddie Freeman pointed to left field and told me I'm going to hit one there tonight. Okay, so we have something. So you did not do what some people have done in the past and passed along things I think of I think of Babe Ruth who hit the home run in Wrigley Field, and Gabby Hartnett was the catcher.
Now what took place at home plate? Did Babe Ruth actually call for the home run or not? Gabby Hartnett told one person that was Renee A. Latchman, what really took place at home plate? And he said, I'll tell you on one condition, you never tell anyone else. I roomed with Renee Latchman in DOUBLEA, got called up to the big leagues. We were roommates also and on the major league team, And sticking up to his word, Renee Lantschman never told anyone and has not to this date told anyone what
Gabby harten said took place at home plate? Well, you played for the clubs on the other side of town. What was the buzz about Babe Ruth calling you shot? I have no idea, but hey, at least Freddie called the shot kind of. I tried to tell him after the game. I remembered what he said. He said, Well, I just noticed the wind and the way it was blowing out. I felt like left field was a good spot last night. Okay, So Johnny on the spot, the
interpreter of actions of the players. Did you talk to him today? I did talk to him today. He did not call a shot today. Oh so we have to rely on someone else's say, well, he did not call a shot today. Yesterday he pointed to left field. Today he did not. Well, the wind is blowing out kind of in the same direction here just before the ball game. Not as as strongly as it was in
last night's game. But what the heck, we'll find out. You don't look at the flags in this ballpark as much as you do Wrigley Field. Speaking of Wrigley Field, you know, being here, you think about not only the White Sox, but obviously the Cobs, And I think about Rick Monday playing for the Cubs and some of the great players that you played alongside. I'm glad you brought that up, because I start to think of one of the of the teammates that I had, one of the really delightful people.
We lost him way way too early, that being Ron Sadom, who has been inducted down and posthumously in the Baseball's Hall of Fame. But I started to look at something. I found something today a little bit earlier. It was on this date in nineteen sixty six. It was a wild game. It was the Cubs against the Mets, and ron Santo was hit in the face by a pitch thrown by Jack Fisher, who was the pitcher for
the New York Mets. Well, it wound up, it fractured Ronnie's cheek, and it ended a consecutive game streak that he had at that particular time. He'd hit in twenty six executive games. That was short of Hack Wilson's nineteen twenty nine franchise mark. But here's the aftermath of it. So he gets hit by a pitch, a fractured cheek, He underwent surgery the next day. He was back in the lineup six days later, and what did he do the first at bat? Got a base hit. They don't make
him like they used to. Rick. I'll tell you what. He was one of the most inspirational, the most positive people I have ever been around in my entire life. And I've told the story and it's worth repeating because ron Santo at a very early age, found out that he had diabetes.
And he went around during his entire career as a major league player and going and talking to kids and talking to schools and saying, look, there's a lot of things that pop up in life, but those that may have diabetes, I want you to understand I also have diabetes and I'm in the major leagues. You can do what you can do. Talk to your physicians.
There's wonderful things that you can do. It's gotten better and better. But he sent a great message to the young around not only Chicago, all around the country, touch lives about Hey, look we can all overcome some stuff. I love it, Rick, I love when you share those stories about your former teammates. And we'll catch up with you and Tim Nevert a little bit later. Tonight. Get out of here. You've got a coat and
tie on tonight, get out of here. Thanks a lot, Rick, We'll send it back to you in the studio, all right, Thanks lot, guys. I have to to go back there just to support my family, my mom, and just just to be there to say bye to my grandfather for the Do you feel like you got the closure you needed to be able to rejoin the team. I know there's the business of baseball, but at the end of the day, it's a game and a great escape. Yeah, you know, this is my
job, this is part of my life. But I think at the end of the day, there's some things that they are more important than this. And I know that I know that this is part of my life. But uh uh and that time, I feel like I have to take time for for me and my and my family just to go to to through that moment and just to uh say the last, the last by to my grandfather. How good did it feel to come back last night and be around your teammates
to help you with that morning? Oh? Great, great? You know, uh it was the last the last couple of days that they were really sad, and and being back here it just bring me, uh joy again. I'm able to watch the game and be here for my team and my teammates support them, and then just like I said, they keep pushing together and try to to go as far as we can. Hey, honor Taoscar Hernandez his grandfather by voting for him in the All Star Game. Taoscar Hernandez
leads all National League outfielders in home runs and RBIs. You are the most productive outfielder this year in the National League. How much would you appreciate being part of the National League All Star Team? Oh? Man, it's you know, it's a dream come true. You know. I appreciate all the people that has been voting for me and being there to support me. But
it's gonna be huge, you know. I think every season all players have goals and and in their minds, and one of those is just to be part of the All Star Game. And why not to be starting spot when when the game starts. Hey, you deserve it. Like I said, nobody's been better than you. I mean, I'm not gonna say that, you know, but I've been having a really good seas in Hopefully I can keep keep it up and just do the things that I need to do to help the team win. At the end of the day, tay Oscar,
you came here to win. The Dodgers won their fiftieth game last night. You guys are on pace for one hundred wins again this regular season? Has it been everything you thought it would be? I think better? I know from from from the outside when I was not here. All the things that I was able to see of this team, these organization, it was incredible. About being power of it, it's even better and I feel great happy to be here. What did show hail Tony say when he first saw you
come back to the team. Oh, he was happy. He's a He's glad that I'm back, and you know, enjoy, enjoy what we have going together. I know Freddy was looking for you. Freddie was the one. You know. I feel really sad for Freddy because he's the only one that has to play all the games. But you know, for that reason, I have to go and miss two games. But I'm here now and we're gonna try to keep going from here, no doubt. Hitting second tonight
behind Otani, it's great. You know, any spot that they want me to be, I'm gonna be there. Gavin Stone on the Mount eight and two three zero four r Ray, the twenty five year old right hander making his fifteen start. Last time out five and the third eighting's two runs,
four hits, seven strikeouts on a win over the Rockies. This is his first time facing the White Sox. Dodgers and White Sox Gavin Stone, Eric Fetti the pitching matchup. The White Sox and the Dodgers the third game of the set, and the Dodgers a chance to sweep this series against the team with the worst record in Major League Baseball twenty one and sixty for the White Sox Dodgers fifty and thirty one after eighty one games. Now we start the second half of the season. Technically, Gavin Stone on the hill eight and two. Stone has done very well. He's
also been the benefactor of some key runs scored for him. The Dodgers have won nine of his last ten starts, and in those games he has won seven of those decisions, only lost one, and ready to close out the month of June, He's three and oh in the four start to the era of right around two and three quarters is all one thing to look at for Gavin Stone. For whatever reason, he's had difficulty in the first pitch thrown
to a batter and how much difficulty will the four hundred average. But I expect Gammon Stone tonight to really use that changeup eighth highest percentage of change ups used by starting pitchers so far this season. That's in Major League Baseball, not just to the National League. But he also he has a pretty good gidea up on the fast ball as well. Stone has pitched into the sixth
inning and nine of the ten starts that the Dodgers have won. He pitched into the sixth inning his last time out against Colorado, and so the Dodgers aren't going to need some length out of him here. You get a day off tomorrow, So if Stone can give the bullpen some rest, so to speak, and pitch deep into the ball, gave a day off tomorrow, they'll be rested and ready to go for the weekend in San Francisco. Fetty thing to look at. He's not overpowering. He'll try and keep the ball
away from you most of the time. Good breaking stuff. Fan like Stone has a pretty good changeup, Betty against Stone, that's the pitching matchup. Dodgers going for a sweep of this three game series here in Chicago. Tim
all right, thank you guys. Dodgers going into play tonight at first place and all loan atop the n L West, an eight game lead over the San Diego Padres andres in action earlier today, they get an eight to five win over the Washington National, So Dodgers eight games up, looking to push him back to eight and a half with a win, ten games up on the Diamonbacks, eleven and a half games up on the Giants going into action
tonight, and I'll be back after the game with all the postgame festivities including Dodger talk as well. But the first pitch is next from South Side of Chicago Dodgers, White Sox. I'm Tim Kasey. Has been Morongco Casino Dodgers on Deck on the Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network
