Transcript

And now your host for Marongo Casino Dodgers on Tech Tam Chase, Hi, everybody, and a litlemen too, Morongo Casino Dodgers on Deck. Hope you're enjoying your Monday afternoon in Los Angeles. Dodgers forty four and twenty nine on this season, first place the top the NL West. After taking two of three from the Kansas City Royals over the weekend at home, the Dodgers now hit the road for a four game divisional series against the Colorado Rockies. The

Big Maple James Paxson on the mound. First pitch from Denver is set for five p forty. Between then and now, we got a lot to get to here on Marago Casino Dodgers on Deck, including hearing from the manager, Dave Roberoks. We're gonna give you the very latest on the Dodgers injuries, an update on Mookie Betts, an update on Yosho Yamamoto, and what the Dodgers' plans are now moving forward with the lineup and the rotation because of these

injuries to the Dodgers starters. Will dive deeper into this pitching matchup tonight with a couple of Canadians. Hey getting the start on the Mount. David Vatti State will go one on one with Jerry Harriston Junior from Sports in at LA. Shortly we'll check in with Kirsten Watson, who is on the field there in Denver. In just a few minutes, we'll head out to the Gaalpin Motors broadcast booth and here from Rick Monday and Tim denvertt Well. Yesterday at

the Ravine, Tyler Glasnow was absolutely filthy. Seven shutout innings. He scattered three hits along the way while striking out ninety through eighty five pitches. He was very efficient, sixty two pitches for strikes. He got it done on the mound with the Dodgers top of the line that provided the offense show. Hey Otani broke up in a scoreless game of the third with a bomb. So Otani, who has been expanding the strike zone. Yeah, and that's

a bad pitch to be swinging in snow. We're close to striking. Account was in favor two oh two to one has hit hard deep the center fit. It's back in his gon A home run show. Hell Tony with his eighteenth home run and the Dodgers on the board. That is one to nothing four hundred and fifty one feet from Showe O'tani that a solo shot the third Dodgers a one nothing lead in the sixth they would make it to nothing.

Showy Otani wasting no time. First pitch, he saw a home run four hundred feet, his nineteenth of the season, his second of the game. As the Dodgers had a two to nothing lead. Again Tyler Glass now was cruising, so a two to nothing lead was more than perfect. But let's make it back to back jacks too older Freeman and he hits a drive to right field and deep. Going back is frasier. He's at the track.

This Rue's gone back to back home runs Otani and now Freddie Freeman. It is three to nothing show Hey and Freddy back to back home runs in the sixth inning as the Dodgers get three solo shots from Otani and Freeman in the game. Freeman goes two for four, now hitting three hundred on this season. In the month of June, he's got an ops over eleven hundred. The offense was from Otani and Friedman, while the pitch he was from Glass.

Now Daniel Hudson as scoreless eighth. Evan Phillips came in and pitched the ninth with the save, his tenth of the season. Dodgers get the three to nothing win over the Royals. They take two to three from Kansas City. They improved a forty four and twenty nine. They've now got an eight game lead in the division. But the win came at a cost, as the Dodgers yesterday announced that Yoshi Yamaimoto was gonna go on the injured list with

a strained rotator croff. And then in the seventh inning yesterday, it was an awful scene to see Mookie Betts get drilled into the left hand by Dan Altavila in ninety eight mile an hour fastball. He came out of the game and Mookie Betts has since been announced as a fracture in his left hand.

More on that throughout Dodgers on Deck as we leach you up to first pitch what it means for this lineup as well tonight, though James Paxson will get the ball in this series openers, The Dodgers gotta play baseball, The game's gotta move on, and with morelands head out to the Galpin Motors Broadcast booth in Denver, as we welcome in Rick Monday and Tim Nevert, guys b ack a time. We come to you from the corner of twentieth in Blake

in the lower downtown section of Denver. Game one of a four game SAT, the Dodgers and the Rockies. Rockies start the night eighteen games behind the Dodgers in the National League Western Division standings twenty five and forty six. Meantime, the Dodgers eight up on the padres at forty four and twenty nine. They played each other recently at Dodgers Stadium. The Dodgers took two out of three, and since twenty eighteen, the Dodgers have won seventy one of the

one hundred three games played against Colorado. Pitching matchup tonight, left handed James Paxton at six and one goes against cal Quantrille. Quantrills six and four, and Quantrell's been pitching pretty well lately, but the Rockies need to find a way to get some runs, says, they have lost eleven of their last fifteen. The Dodgers managed to get enough runs yesterday in a three to noth

things shut out went over Kansas City. They did, but they also lost, and they lost big, and that was Rooky Betts getting the fractured left hand hit by a ninety eight mile an hour fastball. First time this year Mookie Bets has been hit by a pitch, and a very costly one. How long he's going to be out don't know. Meanwhile, the Dodgers cannot stand in one place and wait for Mookie Betts. That's will be the first one to tell you, hey, guys, you got to go out and

play baseball. There's Dodger Ball Club. A difference also, tim in the way that Dave Roberts manipulates his lineup tonight because we had heard speculation and it proves to be the fact. Show Hey Otani will be the designated hitter and he will lead things off into night's bowl game. Will Smith moved up the number two spot and then for the most part, everything else below that is

going to be regular. But there's nothing regular about a big, big void that's a short stop with the big run producer, guy that scores, and a guy that kind of leads the band every time that you go out on the field, that being Mookie Betts. That the Dodgers have to figure out way well let's put the best foot forward, the best foot that they have available. When you look at a player like Bets, he was perhaps the

leading candidate at this point to see in Fornational League most valuable Player. Again, it's a good situation in one way where he does not need surgery, so he will be back at some point in time. Saw him on the way out of the ballpark yesterday, asked him how his hand felt, and he said that it's not as painful as it was when it happened, obviously, but that he was figuring four to six weeks at that point in time, so he should be back and back for the stretch run, and that's

the hope for the Dodgers. Another big loss too, at least for the time being, is Yoshinubu Yamamoto. Where it was yesterday after the ball game we learned that he has a strained rotator. Come yeah, and that didn't really come well. It comes as a surprise, but there was something brewing ahead of time because earlier in the week we saw him Yamamoto throwing on flat ground in left field and the general manager was there watching. You had two

pitching coaches were there watching, a couple of trainers were watching. Eight total were watching Yamamoto. It was supposedly just a throwing session, but that was kind of an alert. Says, hey, there may be something going on. That's a big, big loss, no question about it. After this Dodger ball Club, they're calling up some people and Miguel Vargas gets called up

with the absence now to Mookie Betts. Vargas will be on the bench at the outset at tonight's Bowl game Dodgers and Rockies, Game one of a four game set here in the Mile High City. First pitch around the corner, Jim, all right, as we count you down to first pitch, Dodger fans, get your game day meal on at Shaky's Pizza Parlor or your Shaky's Pizza, Chicken and mojos right now at shakeys dot com. Coming up here on Dodgers on deck. As we lead you up to first pitch, we'll

hear from the manager, Dave Roberts. We'll check in with David va say he'll go one on one with Jerry Harrison Junior from Sports in at LA. We'll dive deeper into this all Canadian starting pitching matchup. But up next to your Otani Rewine and we'll hear from Kirsten Watson, who is on the field in the dugout right now at Corsefield. He leads up to first pitch on this Monday. It's the Dodgers and the Rockies from Denver, first pitch of

five forty. Thanks for being with us. I'm Tim Kas's Los Angeles Dodgers on your network is Lorongo Casino, Dodgers on Dodgers on deck y'all on the official home of La Dodgers Baseball. It's the Dodgers and the Rockies on this Monday. James Paxson, Cal Quantrilley, both from Canada. That's the pitching match, Huve. We'll dive deeper into the numbers coming up. First pitch from Denver, set for five forty. This is the three wise no, we're close to striking. Account was in favor. Two two one has hit

hard deep the center field. It's back and is gone a hold run Show hell Tany with his eighteenth home run and the Dodgers on the board first. That is won to nothing. Shoety leads off the Dodger half of the sixth inning, won nothing Dodgers League first ball, swinging It's a towering drive deep right field. This ball's gone. He's done. Yeah. Show Hey. Tony tubbles up with a home run number two today. It's his nineteenth of their season of the Dodgers lead it Tune them up a show, Hey,

Otani with two solo home runs yesterday. They combined to go eight hundred and fifty one feet home runs number eighteen and nineteen RBIs forty five and forty six for show hey is The Dodgers beat the Royals yesterday in the series finale three to nothing. The Otani rewind brought to by eto ins Oyocha, Japan's number one green tea, available at local diso stores, Amazon and etoin dot Com. That's it O e N dot Com. This is Kirston's Corner with Kirston

Watson. Hey. Kirston now joins us from the field in Denver at Coors Field before the Dodgers and Rockies and Dave Roberts spoke to the media just a little while ago. Kirston and the latest on Mookie Betts and the timetable is Yeah. So, as we learned last night, dealing with that fracture in his left hand and after being hit by a ninety eight miles pour pitch,

so he saw him go down in excruciating pain. He knew it wasn't good, kind of just on site obvious with the x raysment confirmed as I mentioned, a fractures. So Dave said, today, you know, Lukey went and saw the doctor to kind of go over what's next day, So he didn't have that update on that, just specific, but it's looking like a

six to eight week timeline. And he even added, you know what they're kind of comparing it to is you remember a couple of years ago with Corey Seeger essentially a similar situation, got hit by a page on his hand, was down for about two and a half three months, So they're kind of looking at it as a similar pacing to that. But as of right now,

we're hearing it's at six to eight weeks. Obviously different guys, they healed differently, and Corey did have a couple of setbacks just with making sure his hand was fully healed, so hopefully Luky won't have those same setbacks. So they're hoping that that six to eight week timeline can be at such what about yoshin Noblemo and this rotation is I mean the injuries in general, how has it affected this team in a lineup? Yeah, So with Yoshiovu,

as we've heard that he's now dealing with the rotator cuff injury. So Dave said that they're going to shut him down completely. So for two weeks he's going to be completely shut down and then they're going to reaffect into meeks decide if you can pick back up a ball and kind of move forward from that. It is going to take some time for him to heal. Dave did say last night that it's not a season ending injury, so I think that's

the most important thing. He's added thatly sooke to Yoshi Nobu this this morning. He's just said that, you know, he definitely was a little frustrated and just disappointed with the injury, but you know he's going to put in the words to come back healthy and even stronger. And then what's as you mentioned, just it does obviously have impact rotation. The good news Bobby Miller

is back. We'll have to start on Wednesday, and then of course Peyton Kershaw going to start his rehab assignment this week and he's working his way back, so that's a good thing in regard to our with the top of the order in the lineup with no Mookie, that means who's batting leadoff. They decided that Show here Tani is going to be that guy, and they've actually broken up him and Freddie Freeman at the moment putting Will Smith in the middle.

Is that he definitely likes that against righty's, there's a possibility against lefties in which maybe he's deck the two lefties, so show Hey and Freddie back to back and then the two righty's and Will and pay Oscar. So that could be the case, or you could run with just the three that we see today with show Hey, Will and Freddie. So he said he'll kind of he'll decide when that time comes, but for right now, this is

what it's going to look like. So yeah, So the the new top three, and the good thing is is they've been the top four all year, but no Mookie. It's now going to be the three of these guys, and they're going to do whatever they can to step up and to you know, to play for him. That's what a lot of the guys have been saying. It's frustrating, it's bad, but they're going to do what they can to keep going and make sure that the team does not kind of

up without him. Next man up, Dodgers gotta keep playing. They'll start a four game series in Denver. Coming up as we're brought to you by Cars for Kids. The easiest way to get rid of old car. Coming up here on Dodgers on Deck, we'll dive deeper into this pitching matchup. David vatsagoes one on one with Jerry Harrison Junior up next, so we'll get you

an injury report and we'll hear from the manager Dave Roberts. It's the Dodgers and Rockies from Corusfield in Denver. First pitch of five forty. I'm Tim Katsus, Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network. This is Morongo Cassino Dodgers Hunting on your home for La Dodgers Baseball. Okay, Bronco Casino Dodgers on Deck continues on this Monday afternoon. Morongco Casino Resort and Spa A Grand Slam for good times. Leaning you up to Dodgers and Rockies start of a four game series

from Denver. First pitch of five forty. He's the LA Dodgers injury report. Is it a my UCLA Healthy, official medical partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tough weekend for the Dodgers. Three injuries. Mookie Betts going to the IL with the fractured at hand, Yoshidoba Yamamoto going to the IEL at the strained rotator recuff. Michael Grove yesterday went on the IL at the sore lat muscle. He expects to be on the IEL just for a brief time

fifteen days. Max Munsey's still on the IL at the oblique injury. Ryan Brazier on the IEL at the right calf strain. Bobby Miller scept to come off the IEL. That's some positive news for the injury front. On Wednesday, and make the start in Denver. Kyle Hurt progressing, working his way back, hopefoot to the Dodgers bullpen soon. Let's head back out to Denver and let's get it much anticipated update from the Dodger skipper. Anything else questions

for Dave Dave? Can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with Dave Roberts. Dave, just first with Mookie. Has he had a chance to speak with the doctor, and have you received any updates just as to how he's today. I haven't today. I think the plan is he's just gonna get fitted for a splint and there's going to

be you know, a couple of weeks of inactivity with that hand. It is my assumption, and you know, just kind of get the healing process back, but try to do everything he can to keep his body in shape. So it's still I mean it's going to be you know, six to eight weeks something like that. Looking at what this now means, not only for the team at the top of the order. Today you broke up show

Hey and Freddy and Show Hey batting lead off. Is this something you are planning to do moving for I know you had talked about it with facing a lefty, but now without Mookie. Do you like how this looks at the top of the order right now? I do? I do. I also like, you know, on the road right hand or today having will get there. I mean as far as to get warm and the picture up home as it should be easy as well, So I think verse the right hander,

I like this against the left hander. I'll probably think through it, but I this feels right versus both. Right now, all right, there's Dave Roberts down the dugout, brought to you by Service Titan with an update on this Dodgers team. Dave Roberts is a Titan in his own right, and he's got a plan before his team hits the field. You need one for your growing contracting business, too. Let Service Titan help you implement it. All Right, DV Sports Talk Radio wants to debate what's the bigger loss Mookie or Yamamoto. In my opinion, they're both used losses for this Dodgers team. But let's start with Mookie Betts and what this means for the lineup. What this means for like really the heartbeat of this offense and Mookie not being there well number one, I would argue that the Mookie Bets injury is a bigger loss than Yamamoto, considering the Dodgers have a wealth of pitching that

is still very healthy and more on the way. Bobby Miller going to pitch on Wednesday at corse Field, So for now, the rotation is in very good shape. They can ill afford to lose Tyler Glass now. And to me, I even said this over the weekend before the Yamamoto injury. Their biggest challenge is a to keep Glass now healthy and b keep his stuff as good as it's been the first three months of the season. That good in

October. But you know, I think shoe A Otani reflected the feeling in that clubhouse after the game yesterday when he said to Japanese reporters, Mookie Betts is an indispensable player, and he's right. How many Dodgers can move from right field to second base to shortstop and have an MVP season. Nobody. So for now, the Dodgers will rely on Otani to lead off and Miguel

Rojas to play shortstop. The good news is tim that Muki Bets should return by mid August, and it reminds me a little bit of the Corey Seeger break his risk to back in twenty twenty one. It took him about sixty five games to come back. It was a little bit longer than what the Dodgers expected, so I don't expect it to take sixty five days for Mooki

to return. David is driven by the Ford f series, America's best selling trump for forty seven years in counting Ford gives you freedom of choice gas hybrid electric head to your Southern California Ford dealers and find yours Ford F series built tough. All right, we know that they got Rojas and Keik to fill the voided shortstop. Miguel Vargas gets called up, he'll be playing some left field with Chris Taylor. But TV, what about trades? I mean,

the trade deadline's coming up in what five six weeks? Can the Dodgers maybe make a deal to help fill some of these voids? Well, I do believe they are looking at some deals, but right now, tim, it's a difficult trade market. There are a lot more buyers than sellers at this point in time because of the expanded playoffs and teams that even are hovering around five hundreds still within striking distance of the last wildcard spot in each league.

And I do disagree with those that believe the Dodgers are going to feel pressure or panic to make a move now because of the Mooki injury, with them knowing that it's not going to require surgery and that it's just going to take

time for it to heal. I don't believe the Dodgers are going to force a trade for a short stop if they believe the price is too high, and if they were to make a trade for a short stop that was with or without Mooki Bets being in the lineup, because already they were looking to see if there was a better option there to move Mooki back to second base. So I disagree with the notion the Dodgers now are in panic mode to make a trade for a short stop, especially with Mooki being able to come

back in mid August. Real quick, Dave Clayton Kershaw, what's the latest with him as far as throwing? Is it sim game first and then a reminor league rehab on Wednesday? What's the latest? Yeah, he's on his way to a rehab assignment, Tim, And you could just picture spring training right, picture it as a Cactus League game, because that's the closest thing Kershaw can have to that. So he's at the beginning of spring training, on the eve of, let's say, his first spring training start. That's

where he's at in his recovery. And if all goes well, six weeks from now, six starts from now, the Dodgers will evaluate where he's at. He'll evaluate where he's at, and scouts have told me Tim, if the fastball velocity doesn't go up, he's going to have to come up with a change up because there's not enough differential between the fastball and his slider. Something to keep an eye on, for sure, David appreciate it. We'll check back in with you just a little bit. Coming up here on Wrongo

Well, if you were listening to the Dodgers radio broadcast yesterday, you got the inclination things were not going to go Mookie bets way when you heard Rick Monday say I've been there, I felt that and I've seen that. Rick. Hey, you had the uh, the intuition to know it was not going to be good. For Mookie Betts, no, because first of all, it was the first time this year that Mookie Bets has been hit

by a pitch. But unfortunately, I had been there and I've experienced it, and I recognized the intense pain that mooky Bets was going through at that particular moment instantly, and that was never good. So a fractured left hand and they're losing more than just a teammate. I mean, here's a guy that has pulled the weight they've asked him. Look, at first, it was going to be at second base. Well, that didn't work out with

Gavin Lux It's shortstop. So in spring trending they move mooky Bets to shortstop. That's worked out exceptionally well. And for Mooki hitting at three h four, ten home runs, he's knocked in forty. He scored fifty runs on base percentage, the best in baseball at four oh five. It's more than just losing a shortstop, and it's more than just losing a name that everybody

recognizes. It's losing one of the best players in Major League Baseball. That being said, it's time that the Dodgers basically circle the wagons and understand that everybody else has to do a little bit more. They don't have to carry the entire load upon their own shoulders, but everyone needs to contribute a little bit more and find different ways to win ballgames. And Dave Roberts is going to start that with trying to find a different way with his lineup tonight.

That moves O'tani into the leadoff spot. Will Smith moves up to the number two position as he does the catching. Then it's going to be Freeman Tiascar Hernandez, and then it's going to be kind of normal as far as what the doctors have at this particular time. But the top of the order is going to be a much different look right now. What do you like about Otani being the leadoff hitter, Rick, How can he help kind of lessen the impact of losing a player like Mookie Bets at the top of your order.

I would hope that it's going to put more emphasis on making more consistent contact. Oh, he can hit the ball five hundred feet and he's done that. I think maybe at the top of the order, maybe the emphasis is a little bit more. As the Diners are trying to win their forty fifth game of the season, maybe making a little bit more consistent contact. Does Dodger bum club, David. As you know, they've they've had a good run against the Rockies the last three years, winning twenty three and losing

just twelve. Well that's in the last three years. This is a whole new situation now, and you just wonder also from an emotional standpoint, I mean, the game was played yesterday. We saw Dave Roberts really react to one of the trainers coming up and telling him during the eighth inning. Don't know exactly what was said to him, but knowing Dave Roberts, his reaction was one that we knew at that particular time. It was not good news

with Mookie Betts. And from that point on, just looking at the Dodger dougout, it was very sullen. The question is how quickly can these guys kind of regroup and realize that they have one of their big warriors that's not going to be here and now it's on their shoulders in order to carry the wagon. Yeah show hey. O Tani was quoted after the game as telling Japanese reporters Mookie Betts was an indispensable player. But as you know, Rick,

it doesn't just take one guy. I thought you said it perfectly. It's going to take everybody to pick up the production and keep this offense going. Yeah, exactly. So you know it's without Mooki Bence right now the thing that gets lost. Also, it's Yoshinobu Yamamoto also on the injured list. If we go back even more, you know, Max Muncy is looking at something today. You know, the last game that he played was on

the fifteenth of May. That was at San Francisco, and he's not even throwing the baseball right now, So you're looking at the absence of Monsie on top of it. For how long a period of time we don't know. It's already been a month with the oblique issue, and how much longer is it going to be. I would think it's going to be a considerable period of time since a he is taking ground balls at third base, he is running a little bit, but he's not throwing nor is he swinging the bat.

All right, Rick, the good news is the Dodgers still have Rick Monday playing every day in the broadcast. Well at least, well, David, here's the good news too, is it again? I listened to you the other night on the postgame Dodger Talk, I felt like I needed to run to the stadium in a hurry and give you a helmet because it was kind of a vicious crowd was calling in. Hopefully have a nice little uh well, almost a relaxing postgame Dodger Talk tonight. That's always contingent on wins

and losses, Rick, as you know even don't we know that? Yeah, don't we know that? Thank you, Bell. We'll check in with you and Tim Nevert a little bit later. Still to come here. On Dodgers on Deck, we'll get you a preview of this pitching matchup, Rick, We'll be back with Tim Nevert right before first pitch and gets you the keys to the game. I'm next, so we go high and tight with Jerry Harrison Junior. So Dodgers Rockey's from Denver. I'm Tim Kase's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network This is Morongo Casino Dodgers Hunters on your home for LA. Dodgers Baseball. Dodgers and Rockies from Denver startup

That's why find the right doctor is c CHLA dot org. David and now what will likely be vast a fielding insults from a Dodger player, It's

an engagement of endearment. This is high end tight well. It was big news yesterday, unfortunately disappointing news that Mookie Beds has a fractured left wrist. And as it was happening live, Jerry Harriston Jr. Was on Sports and at LA reacting to that news and also the news that the Dodgers have lost Yoshi Yamamoto for the foreseeable futures. So Jerry Harriston Junior joins us right now from Sports net LA. Former Major League veteran world champion, Jerry, thanks

a lot for the time. Appreciate it anytime, David, anytime. So, as you were watching all this unfold yesterday late in the game, when you see that ninety eight fastball hit Mookie Bets, are you thinking immediately this is probably a fracture in that left wrist. I knew it was going to be a fracture now, I just didn't know where it was going to be located. Immediately you think it is a fracture, and then immediately I think

does it require surgery? Thankfully, it does not require surgery. That means is a clean break, and he should be back a lot quicker than obviously if it required surgery. So you know, hopefully, you know that type of injury, will be back six weeks, eight weeks, I don't know, just depending on the bone healing, and Mookie's young guy, healthy guy. Hopefully the heals a lot faster. So obviously it's crushing news, but it's not a season ending injury, and I like to look at things from

the bright side. You know, he's going to be fresh come August, September, October, so when we get to the postseason, we're going to get a fresh Mookie bets. Yeah, so it's right where the wrist and the hand come together. Jerry, it kind of reminds me of when Corey Seeger had his broken left wrist. Do you feel like that's kind of the best comparison in recent Dodger history. I would say, so. I had broke my wrists in that area before your boy Danny Harron got me years ago

before he was throwing throwing eighty eight. But you know, I was able to come back and actually had a really good second half of the season. So Mookie Becks is a whole lot better player than than I was. So hopefully, you know, he heals quicker and be ready to go. So again, the most important thing is no surgery. Anytime you have surgery in your risk area, your your hand area, you're in danger with because there's so many different ligaments tissue. It's so sensitive, you know. So you

know, fortunately there's no surgery. Let it heal and be ready to go in a couple of months. Jerry Harriston Jr. Is joining us from sports Net A La Jerry. The Dodgers seem to be going with sho Hey Otani as their leadoff hitter against right handed pitchers, and Miguel Rojas is going to take over shortstop for the foreseeable future. How do you like the way that lines up? Well? Listen, obviously, in the best case scenario,

you want Mookie healthy. But if we're gonna have guys come in and fill in as a leadoff hitter, Choey Oltani is a pretty good Constellation prize. You know, so Showy has done it before, Obviously he's used to it. He's a guy that can really change the game with one wing the bat and can do it the very first pitch of the game. So Showy can handle leading off for the foreseeable future. I think more importantly, it gives

guys like Miguil Rojas an opportunity to play who's played extremely well. Keith are Nandez will get a chance to play as well, and CT three. There's a reason why you have depth on this team and on this roster. You know you're gonna have at some point, you're gonna have injuries pop up. That's just the nature of the game. You know, the game is played at a high level. It's a fast paced game. You're gonna have some injuries. That's why you have guys that are performing at a high level that

can come off the bench. Hopefully these guys take this opportunity, like Keith Aaron Naniz and CT three Miguel Rojas, seze this opportunity and play well. Jared, do you feel like this changes anything as far as urgency for the Dodgers to acquire a short stop at the trade deadline? I don't think so. I think that the Dodgers have always been great at seeing what they need and if there's a difference maker, whether it's a whether it's an outfielder,

whether it's on the pitching side, they're gonna make the move. So I don't think it changes anything because if there was a difference maker that can help them win when we're fully healthy, they're going to make that move. The good thing about it is you know you don't have to rush and make a sudden change because you already have guys in house that can handle the positions.

Nigel Ross is as good as good as anybody playing the defensive position at short sum so Kiki aar Nannis could play at elite level at short and so can set three. So you have guys in house that can help you at that part of the game. All right, Jerry, That's why we called you. We know that you would bring the positive light to all this. Not ideal, but the good news is, like you said, Mookie should return in early August. Thanks a lot for the time. We'll see you on

Cal Quantrell on the mound six and four, three thirty era, twenty nine year old right hander form her first round pick out of Stamford in twenty sixteen by way of Canada, where he is from sixth season in the Big Leagues, first with the Rockies, making his fifteen start this year last time out six shutout innings, three

hits, five strikeouts in a win over the Minnesota Twins. He primarily throws a sinker, a split finger, and a cutter. The split finger is nasty. Opponents are batting just one forty five off the splitter. In twenty twenty four against the Dodgers, five career appearances, four starts, he's one in four with a seven eighty nine r ray. He's lost all four of his starts, the lone win coming in relief at Dodgers Stadium back in August.

At twenty twenty, James Packson on the mound for the Dodgers. Thirty five year old left hander the Big Maple, also out of Canada, eleven season in the Big Leagues, first with the Dodgers, making his thirteen start last time out against the Texas Rangers. He tossed six innings. He allowed just one run on two hits while striking out two to get the win. He has faced the Rockies six times in his career. Before first pitch, let's head back out to the booth Rick Monday, Tim never guess we're getting a set for the first pitch here in Denver, James Paxton at six and one takes on Cal Quantrill at six and four. The Rockies starter Moll has been very good over his last eight starts. He didn't have a great start to the season, but over his last eight he has turned in a six and one record with a one ninety one earned run average. Yeah, he's turned it around. The first six starts

he was zero three in an era of almost five and a half. The other thing Quantrille has done exceptionally well when he's been in a bind runners in scoring position is just a one seventy six batting average against hims. Dodgers have to figure him out. Meanwhile, for Paxton getting the start and trying to pick up his seventh victory of the season. And for Paxton, he has been very good the first couple of times through the lineup, and then we'll

see about that third time. Hopefully he's still in there by the third time through the lineup. Big night for Paxton, and he got to win against Texas last Tuesday, allowing just one run over six innings pitched. And for the Dodger hitters, looking at Quantrell, they're going to be looking for that splitter. He's got a very good split finger pitch. Good splitter, moves

the bolt inside. Dodgers want to get to the bullpen. Why well, the last thirteen games, the Rockies bullpen has an e ray of almost nine. So the Dodgers, at forty four and twenty nine, eight games up in the National League Western Division, take on the Rockies, the last place team twenty five and forty six for Colorado. They are eighteen games off the pace. Lineups and first pitch coming up? Tip, All right, first pitch, will we come back? Remember Mookie Bets on the injured list with

the fracture in his left hand. Joey Otani will bat lead off as the designated hitter. Miguel Rojas is playing short stop.
