Happy Father's Day to all the great fathers out there, and Happy Father's Day to my dad, Steve Kates, love him much. Happy Father's Day to everybody out there that is listening. As the Dodgers get ready to take on the Kansas City Royals, Dodgers forty three and twenty nine on this season, first place atop the NL West, a seven and a
half game lead in the division going into play today. After splitting the first two games of this series, the Dodgers now go for the series win over Kansas City. No better guy to have on the mound than Tyler Glass, now long overdue for a win. He's on the mount in the series finale.
First bitch from Dodgers Stadium is coming up at one ten. Between then and now, we got a lot to get to here on Morogo Casino Dodgers on Deck, we'll hear from the manager, Dave Roberts, will get you an update on Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who left the game last night after two innings with Tricep soreness. We'll preview today's pitching matchup. David Vasse goes one on
one with Dino Ebel. He's a proud dad on this Father's day, his two boys winning a CIF Division One championship in baseball at Corona High School just a few weeks ago. Shortly, we'll visit with Kirsen Watson, and in just a couple of minutes we'll send it over to Rick Monday and Tim Nevern in the gallupin Motors broadcast both well last night. The Dodgers well got hit
by the injury bug early, then the long ball late. Yoshinobu Yamamoto got to start the Dodgers right hander did not last long, just two innings, one hit, twenty eight pitches. He left the game with try Sep soreness. Not good news, seeming as though he was given two extra days of rest between the starts to help alleviate any fatigue that he was experiencing. More on that coming up throughout the show. The Dodgers were forced to go with
another bullpen game the rest of the way. In the fourth inning, Michael Grove on in relief, Nick Lofton and RBI ground out and the Royals grabbed the one to nothing lead. However, in the bottom of the inning, the Dodgers answered right back. Two on, two out for Gavin Lucks. And that's gonna be up to Gavin Lux in a one nothing ball game. He swings hits a ground ball to center. That's a base Hip Freeman will score coming in behind him as Andy pie his and Gavin Lux didn't waste any
time. On the first pitch he seas it's a two out, two run single and the Dodgers lead it two to one. Two runs single to the center for the Lucks RBIs fifteen and sixteen. That's the top tier play of the game sponsored by Arco Quality, top tier gas for less. Dodgers up two to one and the six Blake trying in on in relief. The right hander has been virtually unhittable since coming off the injured lists well. With one out, trying and hit back to back to back with walks to load the
bases after striking out Fraser up next came up MJ. Melendez, who at one point fouled off six straight pitches. On the twelfth pitch of the bats tried. It made a mistake trying to get himself in hot water. Walking three in a row. There are two outs and here comes the payoff pitch from Blake. Runners go Waald has swung on and hit deep to right field, back to the wall, goes Heyward. He looks up. It is gone. It's a grand Slam? Are you kidding me? Actually? At
bat of the year for Kansas City, Grand slam for MJ. Mulendez. Royals took a five to two lead, rough outing for Trying in two thirds of an inning, four runs, one hit, three walks. The Royals would tack on two more in the seventh off Anthony Bonda. Kansas City goes on to beat the Dodgers last night by a final of seven to two. Seth Lugo gets to win his tenth of this season. He's just the second pitcher this year to get the double digit victories in baseball. Blake Trying gets
tagged with the loss. Dodgers fall to forty three and twenty nine off the season. They've now lost three of their last four. However, they maintain a seven and a half game lead in the division going into play today and this afternoon. The rubber game of this three game Tyler Glass now on the mound, first pitch of one to ten and with more we head over to the Gallpin Motors broadcast booth as we welcome in Rick Monday and Tim Neffert.
Guys, Thank you very much, Tim, gorgeous afternoon for this Father's Day game at Dodgers Stadium. Happy Father's Day to everybody out there, and should be a wonderful ball game today. We hope the Dodgers forty three and twenty nine seven games up on the padres in the National League West, the Royals winning last night's game seven to two for their forty first win of the season. They're now ten about five hundred and forty one and thirty one and five
back of the Guardians in the American League Central Division. Dodgers' bats didn't really play last night. They had some opportunities but couldn't cash in. And it was the grand slam of MJ. Melendez off of Blake Trinon on the sixth inning that really turned the game around. Well, turned the game around, but boy, there's a whole lot that's really kind of counting upon Yoshiobu Yamamoto,
who only went the two winnings. Triceps tightness is what we had been told during the ballgame is going to be How long will he be out? If he's going to miss any time at all, Because it goes back to the Dodgers had to be figuring that something wasn't quite right because we noticed earlier in the week I'm a moto throwing in the outfield, and yet both pitching coaches, the general manager, a couple of trainers were out there and throwing.
We were told, well, he was fine, but not fine, and last night's ball game would put a crunch again on the Dodgers' bullpen, who did a very good job. You start to look at the bullpen overall, Oh, try Anda gave up the Grand Slam and lost touch with the strikes on there and the sixth inning can walk through guys. But overall, you look at this Dodger bullpen timp They had been absolutely spot on day after day after day. Last night just a little bit of a trip up and
I get the bats going. Now the Dodgers on Tuesday, you remember, runs were not a problem against the Rangers. They scored fifteen of them. But in the four games since they've only scored nine combined, and then those four games, the Dodgers have lost three of them. Yeah, and not
too many opportunities even with runners in scoring position. Although they had ten last night, only two hits the night before, only had three opportunities to knock in a run, and they were zero for five on Thursday in those games. So the Dodgers need to tighten the belts a little bit more. And we're beginning now to see a couple of guys and not swinging the bats exceptionally well. Show Hey Otani the last number of games, he has struggled a
little bit, and Mookie Betts his bat is beginning to warm up. And we talked about the bottom third of the lineup, and we talked about it a lot last night before the ballgame, because seven, eight to nine in that lineup, they're hitting about two eighty or a little bit better if you look now the last seventeen games. And Cavin Biggio last night striking out three
times, looking including with men on base in key situations. Swinging the bat a little bit more is something I think the Dodgers would like to see him do. He's dropped down to one to ninety five. He is nine for seventy two over his last twenty nine games combined with Toronto and the Dodgers. Well, I found some numbers on Vigio and you know we had heard and when he said Toronto, they wanted him to swing the bat a little bit
more often. But the strikeout rate against right handed pitching, if you look at the cold strikes, forty nine percent of his strikeouts over the last two years against right handed pitching alone has been cold strikeouts. So the Dodgers and the Royals getting set for the rubber game of this three game series. Tyler glasnow looking for a win. He hasn't had one since the fourth of May.
He is six and five. He'll take on Brady's singer, who has been tough on the Dodgers, Singer four and three Dodgers Royals Game three, coming up, Tim, All right, as we call you down to first pitch, Dodger fans, get your game day meal on. What up next, We'll get your o Tawny Rewind and we'll visit with Kirsten Watson from sportsnet LA. Lee. You up to Dodgers and Royals on this Father's Day. First pitch at one ten. Thanks for being with us, Happy Father's Day. I'm Tim Kates's Los Angeles Dodgers Audio Network. This is the Otani three wide Well, shoey Otani went zero for three last night with a walk, you know, hitting three oh six on this season so far in the month of June. As we sit here now at the halfway point, Shoeyotani sitting just two fifteen of the month of jo with the double, three home runs and fourteen strikeouts. So so. Tony re Ryan brought to you by ETOs Oil, Japan's number one Green Tea available to

Hey, Kirston now joins us here at Dodger Stadium on this Father's Day before the Dodgers in Royals final game of this three game set. But the big news today Kirston, Yoshinobu Yabamoto, Dave Roberts, I know, talked to the media earlier. Yeah, he's gonna go on the IL And this is something they're
kind of looking at it two different ways. One, it's being more preemptive just to make sure that they are giving him time to heal, not putting too much pressure on it. And also the other thing is this is his first year playing in Major League Baseball, obviously his first year with the Dodgers. While there has been a lot of communication, they are still learning a lot about him, so understanding what is the best way to not only just kind of stop the soreness in his tricep, but also manage it. So
he's not gonna go on the trip to Colorado. He's today He's spending the day kind of seeing doctors and getting a better understanding some scans, just seeing kind of where exactly the flare up with that soreness is and his tricep and how they can best manage it. One of the writers actually brought up a really interesting point because they were saying that while he was playing in Japan, he used to use his slider a bit more, but it was leading to
some soreness for him, so he decided to move away from it. If you look at his outing against the Yankees when he got up to one hundred and six pitches, a very dominant pitch for him that outing was the slider. So I think when you're, of course they're looking at that information, they don't necessarily know what the answers are. He had expressed he was dealing with some soreness in between these last two starts. That was why they pushed
him back. Originally felt like, well, of course there's still some soreness. Even yesterday he felt like he was good to go, So of course he got out there and ultimately, you know, as he was playing, it kind of flared up on him some more, and so it was the right decision, of course for him to come out and so hopefully they can get some more information and if this in the butt early because the postseason is
it feels like it's going to be tomorrow. It's not, but it just feels like how time is flying, it'll be here sooner than you think. Michael Grove has been a pleasant surprise for this Dodgers' bullpen, able to to pitch in consecutive days after being brought up as a starter with the Dodgers in the minor leagues, and Michael Grove going on the eel as well. He is, so he's been dealing with a little bit of tightness in his lad so Dave said he believes that this is going to be a quick iyel stick.
But it's also one of those things where now is the time. You know, if you're dealing with the flair with something, you've got some tightness irritation, now is the time to deal with it because it's about to be the middle of summer. There's also a lot of arms that are working their way back, including you know, best Casecenar. Considering Yoshinobu going on the eels, that Bobby Miller's already scheduled to come back next week. He wasn't
like you had to rush him or anything. Then you've got Clayton Kershaw who's starting his rehab assignment. He'll likely be back. I mean, he's seems to be progressing really well. So what to give it a couple of weeks, we could be seeing him maybe July and July. So I think now is the time. Give the guys rest who need it, allow these other arms to come in because the most important thing is being ready for October. So if you can manage that, now, prepare these guys. That's all
you can ask. Playing for the long term, You're playing for the long term. Curious Charris, appreciate it. We'll check in with you after the game. This is the LA Dodgers Injury Report presented by UCLA Healthy, Official medical partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The big news. Yoshinobu Yamamoto goes on the injured list right tight tricep tightness. He'll be evaluated today. Michael Grove, Dodger reliever, also placed on the injured list with lat soreness. Max Munsey already on
the i L with the oblique injury. Bobby Miller right shoulder inflammation. He is scheduled to come off the IEL on this next road trip in Denver and pitch against the Rockies. Kyle hurt Wicking making his way back from shoulder inflammation, Clayton Kershaw, Bruce dar Graderol Ryan Brasier, Tony Gonsolon, Dustin may All on the sixty day I L Joining them is Joe Kelly, who was extended to the sixty day IL as soon as he could come off that is
July fifth. All right, let's head back out here for the Dodger skipper question. Dave, Dave, can you just describe Dave? Can you talk about the pressure in the dugouts with Dave Roberts, Davie obviously with the team and lash and you think about all the babies that were born. There are
now a lot of fathers with this group. When you think about some of them, whether it's their first, second, father's days, how have you seen a lot of these men just kind of continue to evolve as baseball players, but really as just kind of who they are off the field and how it impacts them on the field. I've had a chance, you know, in real time to watch these guys evolve or grow up. I think that obviously, there's nothing more perspective driven than being a parent. And so yeah,
they they've changed his men and they've changed his ballplayers. It's been fun and watching some of these kids grow up and watch these guys grow into fathers. Last night we saw a game that essentially turned into a bullpen one. So I guess, first things first, how's Yoshiobu doing today? Did you get any updates? Did he speak to the doctors just yet? I know it's still kind of early. I haven't seen him today. We are going
to ail him. He's going to get some testing done. I don't know the results or when he's going to get it done, but obviously we're going to do our due diligence. So I don't know what is expected going forward, but I'm hopeful whatever that means. And then we're also going to put Michael Grove on the IL just some he had some lat tightness and so just kind of giving him a little blow. And so we're bringing back JP Firehuisen, and then also Michael Peterson is going to make his debut. So we've
got coverage and I expect both those guys. I know Michael should be shorter term and we'll know more. With Yoshinobu, you have a mortalized that. It sounded like he was kind of downplaying the severity of it. What kind of cooled you guys, this is an io situation. I just think that it's uh, you know, a guy that we're still trying to learn a lot about and appreciate the fact that the most important time of the season is
yet to come and his health is paramount. So for us to be proactive and put him on the IL kind of reset them seems like the most the smartest thing to do is all right, there's Dave Roberts down the dugout brought to you by Service Titan talking about Yoshinobu Yambu Moto going on the IEL getting further test done today on the tightness in his tricep and Michael Grove some soreness in his lat They're going to shut him down, put him on the fifteen
day IL, hopefully just a short stant give him a breather, because they have used him a lot coming out of the bullpen so far. In twenty twenty four. Brought to you by Service Titan, Dave Roberts a titan in his own right, and he's got a plan before his team hits the field. You need one for your growing contracting business too. It's a Dodgers and Royals on this Father's Day. Tyler Glass now Brady Singer. The pitching matchup in this series finale, final game of this homestand first pitch coming up at one ten. Joining Tim Kates on Dodgers on Deck, I accept everybody for who they
are. This is Dodger insider David Bassi. All right, DV, Happy Father's Day to you. I don't know what your level is of concern is, but I'll be honest with I'm a little worried about Yoshiyamamoto in this elbow issue. I am too, But you know what makes me feel a lot better and at ease is when former Dodger GM neck Coletti shows up at Dodgers Stadium. We're very, very colorful Father's Day polo. That makes me feel
a lot better. Great to see Ned Colletti back at Dodger Stadium. He knows all about injuries and knows how to divulte certain information and keep some other information closer to the vest. Even if he has three buttons down, he
used to keep it somewhere in that shirt. And I feel like as far as the Dodgers go, they might be holding some information back as far as the details about Yamamoto's injury moving before on the IL stuff, Dave, here, we got Michael Grove going on the injured list, but Joe Kelly gets extended to the sixty day IL. Does this mean a delay in his return? How's this factor in his timetable now? Yeah? So I know you might think that sixty days from now is when Joe Kelly may be eligible.
That's not the way it works. It goes all the way back to the first day that he was even placed on the fifteen day IL, which was May sixth. So Joe Kelly, who told me the other day he is
feeling like he's getting closer to returning, that has not changed. Joe Kelly can return to the Dodgers roster as soon as July sixth, So that's only a couple of weeks away, and the Dodger bullpen has been outstanding, but getting Joe Kelly back is going to be a huge boost and that is not going to be delayed just because they moved him to the sixty day IL. The Dodgers are maneuvering their forty man roster because they need two fresh arms and
they had to add one of those to the forty man roster. So the way they made room for that was by placing Joe Kelly on the sixty day IL. But he can still return in a couple of weeks. David is driven by the Ford F series of America's best selling truck for forty seven years in counting. Ford gives you freedom of choice, gas, hybrid, electric, head to your Southern California Ford dealers and find yours Ford F Series built tough Max Munsey David. How much does this Dodgers team miss him right now?
I believe tremendously. I feel like Dodger fans didn't appreciate Max Munsey and his value to this lineup until he's not in it anymore. And I think we understand now that it's not just nine individuals when you make a starting lineup out Max Munsey served a very valuable purpose other than hitting thirty home runs and driving in one hundred runs. We all know that, But the part that we don't appreciate is the fact that you have two guys in Otani and Freeman
that swing first pitch and really don't work the count. And sometimes Mookie Betts does that as well. So you need a guy like Max Munsey in the middle of the order to see six seven pitches, that's how many he was averaging, and even if he strikes out, he's still making the pitcher work, especially since now it feels like that burdon has fell on Will Smith, and that's not always what Will Smith wants to do. Sometimes Will Smith wants
to swing at the first pitch. And then you got Taoscar Hernandez, who, as Vin Scully used to say, you don't swing off the island or you don't walk off the island, and he's a free swinger as well. So that's the value of Max Muncy that I'm not sure many appreciated until now since he's not in it. David, real quick, you're talking to Bobby Miller a lot since he's been on the injured list, not worried about the outcome of his last start, but how important is it to get him back?
Now with this news of Yamamoto going on the injured list, they're gonna eat a fresh arm. And it kind of feels like right place, right time. Bobby Miller coming back, no doubt. And we were getting calls about who's the odd man out when there's a six man rotation, we're going to have too many starters. Well, the Dodgers never felt that way. They were always cautiously optimistic. They may have that issue, but as you can see, tim a lot can change within two weeks, and all of
a sudden, now there is no odd man out. Yamamoto's on the il and Bobby Miller will start Wednesday at Coors Field, and he's very anxious to do so, even at a hitter friendly ballpark like that. David Gray stuff, WI check back you with you in just a little bit. It's an engagement of endearment. This is high and tight. It's a beautiful Father's day at Dodgers Stadium, and we're with a champion of a father and the best third base coach in all of Major League Baseball, the one and only Dino
Ebel. Happy Father's Day, Dino, Thank you Dave, and Happy father Days to you and all our great fans out there today that's gonna watch or listen to Dodger Baseball. I always say that you used to be Deno Ebel, one of the best third base coaches in the Big leagues, but now you're known as Brady and Trey's father. How does that feel? It's actually pretty good. The pressure is off of me, so it's good. I mean, the boys are you know, they're good and they're starting their summer
baseball. But yeah, thank you for that, and I will just continue to move forward. And this is not a father pressuring his kids to follow in his footsteps. This is them wanting to to pursue this dream. Absolutely from day one. I just brought him to the park and never pushed baseball on him. And you know, we've talked about in the past about all the travel ball and the Little League and all that stuff that the kids go through. But I was the dad that just sat back and they truly love
the game. They want to be here with me. Now that you know they're going into their senior and junior year seats, you know, junior seasons. But yeah, they they they love the game and their dream is to be here one day and then they're they're watching our guys perform every day. So it's good for me to bring him to the park. I know, Brady's older than Trey, and obviously he's getting a lot of attention. Is it awkward at times when you know there's a lot of people around here that
have their eyes on your oldest son. Not really. I think Tray's handled it well. I think his his time is coming now that he's going to his junior season. And you know, he was out here the other day taking ground balls and a few few of the scouts that were here, so they couldn't believe his arm strength and the way, you know, he fills the ball. So it's just it's just a process. He sees his brother in front of him, and what I like about it is they compete,
so Trey watches him. He wants to be better and his bigger brother, and then they come out here and you know, you have to perform in front of Mookie and Rojas and Kike and Big O and you know, Lux and Freddie Freeman. So It's constantly a competition for both the Evil brothers, and I enjoy watching it. Rodger's third base coach. Do you know Ebel is our guest. Do you know when you look at the team, basically the last twenty games you've been treading water but still have a big lead in
the division. How much more is there in this team? Oh, there's a lot, David, you know, his team's you know, we've done this before, up and ups and downs throughout the game, but draw it a long season, but you know we always come out here. The process is really good. The clubhouse is great. Dave does a great job of keeping everybody in form, communicating, which he's he's outstanding in that. And
the guys come out and they do their work. Now, if there was a left or right where now they're not coming out and they're in a film sorry for themselves, I'll use that word, but you know they're not coming out working. And now you know what, now as coaches, we got to you know, go to them and say, listen, let's keep the process going, which has been great since spring training. You know you're not
going to get four hits a game. You're not. You might make an error you might throw a ball over the plate and the guy hits a home run. So it's part of it. You learn from it, you turn the page, you come back out today and you win today's ball game. Do you know you're right in the trenches with Mookie Bets on a daily basis, three four hours before every game. Where is he as far as the
improvement? You know, he's getting better. I know he's so, you know, like thinks he can be better than what he is, but he'd you know, I'm speaking from me. You know I tell this to Mookie all the time. Is you know you nobody is doing what you're doing. Nobody has ever gone from a go glove right fielder to second base, to right field, to shortstop to second to right and now you're an everyday shortstop. So it's a process. And I saw the other day when he said
this is hard. It's hard, and we've told him that. But he's such a good competitor athlete. He wants to be elite. He wants to help his team win a championship. But again, you see it every day, day in and day out. This guy doesn't miss a beat. He wants to learn and he's pushing forward, So we just got to play day by day, keep him healthy, which he is. His arm strength is great, and get him going in the batter's box and he'll be the mookie
that everybody knows. And your positioning seems to help him out a lot. The Dodgers are at the top of baseball with where you position guys for certain hitters. Absolutely, our front office and our guys upstairs, you know, they send down great information. We cross check it, you know, I go over videos with certain pitchers, right he lefties, and then how many
at bats they got off of our own pictures. But yeah, we try to put him in the best spot, which we do a good job doing that, and then let the athleticism take over of our infielders and then if they make a diving play, that's on them and that's why they're in the big leagues. Deno Ebols known as obviously the best third base coach in baseball, but also when people describe you, they describe you as an aggressive third base coach. Do you feel like this Dodger team has matched your identity?
Well, yeah, yeah, you know there's times where you have to play the scoreboard. We got such a good offense and you know, as a third base coach here, you know I'm never gonna be perfect. I understand that. But sometimes with one out and two outs and you look on deck or who's in the hole, which I do all the time, you want some of your big hitters to get that at bat and trying to you know, force the issue, and maybe he gets thrown out at the play.
So there's gonna be times when I read the scoreboard, especially with no outs, I just you know, I want to people to understand. With no outs, if I can't get the guy home by standing, then it's not a real good play on my part. I can't make it a close play. And he's saved when you got you know, no outs and you got three guys coming up to drive a run in. So one out I can
be a little bit more aggressive. Two outs, I'm more aggressive, but depending on who's on deck in situation in the game, I'll let the big boys swing the bat behind him. Hey, that's why he's the best. But lots to do here today as Tyler Glasnow will take on Brady's singer for Glass Noow Six and five. But he has been zero to four over his last six starts, not all
his fault. The run support average has not been there. Through the fourth of May, he was getting seven and three quarters runs per game that was fourth best in Major League Baseball at the time. Since May tenth, he's only getting a run and a quarter run support, which is now the fourth worst in the league baseb. Yeah, and his ZRA has gone up also because of that period of time since the tenth of Mayors. Era is right
at four interesting things about Glass now. First of all, when he gets out on that mound, you look at the last three years, Tyler glassnow has allowed just a one ninety eight batting average against him. What he's done so well this year, He's handled the big bats in the lineup, number three, four, and five, all hitting below one fifty against the big right hander, and he absolutely he's not a day at the beach if you're
a hitter when he come to home plate. Brady Singer going for Kansas City, He's two to zero against the Dodgers with an sixty nine earn run average. He's allowed one ear and run over thirteen innings pitched in two career starts, and he's been tough against the boys in Blue. He's been tough.
